ジャックスイン(Jack's inn)

We visited Kyoto, Tokyo, and Osaka, and Jack's Inn was by far one of the most memorable places of our trip to Japan. We happened across Jack's on our first night in Osaka and after expertly made cocktails, wonderful jazz, great conversation with friendly locals and the bartender, we made sure to stop by every night of our 4-day visit in Osaka. Our only regret is that we didn't get the bartenders name!

I was the only person there on a Tuesday night but the bartender was eager to converse, even though we were speaking via Google Translate. No menu, tell him what you want and he will not disappoint. The best part about Osaka is the people. Give them a bit and you will receive tenfold. Okinni!

Great experience. Excellent bartender and great jazz music on the turntable. A relaxing break from the craziness of Dotonbori. Had a great whiskey sour and a gin drink the bartender concocted. Not a lot of English spoken, but had fun with great bartender conversation via Google translate. Thank you Takeshi Yamamoto!

My wife and I stumbled into Jack's Inn hoping to find a restroom (or more comonly referred to in Japan as simply a "Toilet") Knowing restrooms are usually made available to patrons, we decided it would be polite to first sit down and order a few drinks. My wife ordered a Old Fashioned with Woodford Reserve, and I ordered a Bombay Saphire Martini. We then proceeded to watch the most methodical and carefully made craft cocktails we have ever seen. While our cocktails were being made, I asked the bartender about a photograph situated behind him on the bar shelf. He then turned to the picture, bowed and explained it was in memorial of his boss, who was longer with us. This show of respect, reminded us that we were in Japan, where respect defines their culture. Usuing Google Translate we quickly struck a converstation with the Japanese patrons seated to our left which lasted about 2 hours, and few more rounds of the best cocktails I have ever had.

We had an amazing time at Jack’s Inn. There’s no menu but you will get a delicious drink of your choice. Seems like the place is frequented by locals too who are friendly and engaging. Would recommend!

If you are close by, just visit this place. Awesome staff and atmosphere. Note: When you enter, staff will ask you if you agree to a 'service chargee'. This is common practise in Japan. This 'fee' is 700 JPY (4.50 USD). But it is absolutely worth it! Also for that fee you get a cheese toast with wasabi as an appetizer (it's delicious).

We stumbled across Jack’s on a recent Japan trip. What a lovely wee place! Really atmospheric and old-fashioned cocktail bar with a nice vibe, the bartender was playing jazz records on vinyl and I enjoyed the little touch of listening to the clicking of the needle as each record ended and he’d go to put another one on. There’s no cocktail menu so I’d say you should know what cocktail you want when you come in here (also it’s more of a classic cocktail place), but the bartender is very friendly and approachable. My husband was able to ask for a variation on a negroni he likes and despite the language barrier he understood and made a really nice one for him. Theres a cover charge - 700 yen which is about £3.50 - but you get little cheese toasties for it, I’d say the whole price overall was not bad and worth it for the atmosphere and overall experience.
