We stopped at Jackson Lake Dam and Reservoir and it turned out to be one of the most memorable spots in Grand Teton. From the bridge you can see Jackson Lake on one side and the Snake River on the other, with the Teton Range rising in the distance. It is such a unique view. There are restrooms near the parking area which is really convenient. You can walk across the bridge that separates the lake and river, and there is even a stair if you want to go down and see the dam up close. The water looks so clear and the sound of it flowing is so relaxing. We also saw people fishing on the other side of the river and it seems like a perfect place to fish and picnic at the same time. It can get crowded and traffic in and out of the lot gets tricky, but if you have a little patience the experience is absolutely worth it. This is a peaceful stop where you can take in the calm of Jackson Lake and the power of the Snake River all at once.

A great picnic area. Plenty of parking, bathrooms and picnic benches. Gorgeous views and highly recommend to walk the pathway on both sides of the road. Different views from both sides and you can see below the dam into the falling water. A great place to skip stones on the river and balance rocks! Highly recommend place to stop even for a quick stroll.

We were looking for a place to picnic and fish. All other spots were really crowded. Not many at the lower parking lot. Had a double pit toilet that was clean. The fishing under the falls was very good. Lots of snags, but that's where we found the big ones. Two 24 inch fine spotted cutthroat trout. Many smaller ones, too. Saw mostly fly-fishermen, also, they were doing good. Bring some big gear and fish the white water at the falls.

What a great spot to listen to the roar of the water. You need to walk on both sides. The views are spectacular from either side. Be sure to walk down the stairs on the dam side to take in the views. We had a short walk from the parking lot. The restrooms were decent also.

A beautiful dam and a stop to see the view of Grand Teton. I saw some people fishing downstream of the dam. If you have time, this is a good place for a picnic. Very beautiful and has trails around the dam.

Stopped here for a picnic on the way from Grand Teton to Yellowstone. Beautiful view is a must stop for the explorer! Well kept picnic tables and location with trees for shade and a restroom. This location is before you go over the dam heading to Grand Teton

Jackson Lake Dam in Grand Teton National Park is an unforgettable stop that blends natural beauty, history, and serenity. Standing atop the dam, you're treated to panoramic views of the Teton Range mirrored in the calm waters of Jackson Lake—a scene so picturesque it feels like a living painting. The dam itself, a concrete and earth-fill structure completed in 1916, plays a crucial role in regional irrigation and showcases impressive engineering. Visitors often note the peaceful ambiance, the soothing sounds of water cascading below, and the opportunity to observe wildlife such as pelicans and ducks. It's a perfect spot for photography, leisurely walks, or simply soaking in the majestic surroundings. Whether you're passing through or planning a dedicated visit, Jackson Lake Dam offers a tranquil and scenic experience that's well worth the stop.
