Google
Another good experience in Paso Robles related to wine testing. Good to very good wines, nice atmosphere and excellent discussion about wines and not just.

Robert French

Google
Had a great time tasting. The wine was all outstanding and the service was great. This was my first visit, but will definitely be going back. Picked this wine up for dinner that night and did not disappoint. Cheers

Scott Booher

Google
Amazing wine and amazing people. One of the best wine clubs in Paso!

Renee Polo

Google
Kelly and Jacob couldn't have been more inviting. Their tasting room is cozy, with beautiful artwork on the walls! The wine was wonderful. I loved every single one. When you visit Tin City, definitely put their winery at the top of your list.

Bill Redmond

Google
Yes. Yes. And Yes. I’m not afraid to tell you the personality and family history of this wine maker comes out in his wines. We went, we enjoyed, we swirled and sipped. We are not sorry. We purchased cases of wines and they continue to get better. We will be back to buy more. If you haven’t been and tried the wines, you should. You won’t be sorry either. A must on ANY trip to Paso Robles.

Google
You won’t find a better overall wine tasting experience than Jacob Toft. The wines are masterfully crafted, the labels are a fun art show, and the hospitality is generous with a healthy dose of geographic history and agricultural education. We enjoy many Central Coast wineries and can add Jacob Toft to our list of favorites.

Google
Amazing wines and even better hosts. Never had a wine from Toft that I didn’t love. Kelly is the best host there is, always warm, welcoming, gracious and entertaining. A must stop when in Tin City

Elizabeth Gillingham

Google
Another one of my absolute favorite wineries in Paso Robles. Jacob and Kelly are delightful and passionate about their wines, the tasting room is cozy and welcoming, and the wines are some of the best around. Real world class stuff coming from this winery.

Yelp
This is my favorite winery! I was so happy to meet the winemaker, Jacob Toft, and get my bottle signed. The labels are so beautiful. I also was thrilled that he took us back to see the wine tanks!! Amazing place!! Delicious wines. The winery is so cool and the service excellent!

Yelp
Even though we walked in only an hour prior to closing we were welcomed and taken in for a tasting. Kelly, co-owner, was our host and she was very knowledgeable, educational and clearly passionate about their wines. We were seated on comfy couches in their industrial room which was rather chilly. Probably great during summer, not so much during Fall. Their sea-life labels are gorgeous.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our in person visit to Jacob Toft in Tin City but BUYER BEWARE as we joined their wine club and have yet to receive our shipment. After weeks of emails, phone calls, promises they will call back and give us an update, excuses, etc. and they have still NOT sent our almost $900 shipment. Now we have no other choice but to contact our credit card co. to see if we can get that payment back. Our friends who joined us, ordered bottles and did not join the club, and they have not received their shipment either. VERY DISAPPOINTING AND FEEL SCAMMED! I wouldn't trust that they will do what they say they are going to. Sad to say.

Yelp
Walked in to Jacob Toft on a Saturday afternoon without a reservation, they let us know that they had other groups scheduled within the next hour, but if we were okay with doing a quick tasting we were in - so a quick tasting we did! We had about 40 minutes before the next tasters were scheduled, but we never felt rushed, and even when that time did come, we were able to finish our tasting and linger a little while (avoid the rain) before we left. The tasting consisted of 4 wines, though we also got an extra pour of an off menu wine as well. All wines were red, with most of them being blends on the fuller bodied side. The wine education here was a little less than most of the wineries we visited this trip, but it was also a quicker tasting, so that could've been why. As with most tasting rooms in Tin City, the space was fairly small, and since it was a rainy day we were limited to inside the tasting room, though they do have a small outdoor patio as well. We sat at one end of a long table, while another couple tasted at the other. Though we were at a table with someone else, we still had plenty of space between our groups. Ended up going home with a bottle of the Syrah! Good place to come for full bodied reds if you're looking to do some tasting in Tin City!

Yelp
Small, boutique winery with a cozy vibe. Our wine steward, Fizzle, gave us a great education about the winery and the area in general. It was especially interesting to hear about them stomping the grapes and the family de-stemming them by hand. The tasting areas were cozy and decorated with attractive restraint for the Christmas season. Wines were good and well explained. Fizzle was particularly good at drawing out specific notes in each wine and explaining the the winery's blind tasting process to decide on their own final blends. A fun experience.

Yelp
The first stop on a wine tasting weekend. This place came recommended for red blends and they did not disappoint. Got there and another couple was just finishing up, so we ended up with the place all to ourselves. Such a nice private tasting. We even got a tour of the facility and the process behind making the blend. If you are in the area check out this hidden gem!

Yelp
We always love a little Tin City tasting and enjoyed Jacob Toft. We made reservations ahead of time and they have three seating areas. They have a main tasting room, outdoor space and then cozy lounge areas in the barrel room. We opted for the barrel room and were glad we did! It was comfortable ro relax on the couches near the barrels! We were greeted by a really friendly and kind server who walked us through the wines. You can tell this is a family affair with employees having close connections and relationships with the winemakers and the process. I appreciated that! Many of the wines are named after the matriarchs in the family and have female names. Lots of cuvées on the menu with different red blends. While the wines weren't compelling enough for us to purchase, they were good. Just a little different than what we most prefer. A positive experience and a great stop in Tin City!

Yelp
I've always loved their wine and the small tasting room intimate vibe. I took my parents for the first time the day after Thanksgiving, Jack took care of us and he was great. He was talking about the wine with my parents and was very personable. 10/10 experience. Thank you Jack

Yelp
Jacob Toft was the BEST surprise of the weekend. We tried to walk in at another tasting room but they took us (4 adults and a baby) without a second thought. We were sat in the front tasting room which was beautiful. Lisa was amazing. She sat down with us through the tasting. We really enjoyed how personable she is. We really loved the beauty of each wine label. The entire winery is so family oriented, including the wine label art, names, process. The wine is quite boutique and delicious. We loved the 6 tastes and the couple extra tastes we had. Thanks for a great experience Lisa!!

Joe S.

Yelp
Not trying to hate on the place nor am I a tasting expert but I've gone to my fair share of tastings in Napa and PR. This place was recommended by somebody who is now a nobody. By far the worst tasting wine and atmosphere. My expectations were low as it is in Tin City so you feel a little like you found a container community in an episode the Walking Dead. Putting the location aside the wine is not very good.

Yelp
On our recent trip to the Paso Robles area, we stumbled upon Tin City (super cute complex with TONS of tasting rooms, breweries, etc.) While there, we found Jacob Toft! It turned out to be our FAVORITE winery of the whole trip! Our host, Bailey, was awesome. OMG loved the wines & purchased several to be shipped back home to TX. Check it out for sure!

Yelp
I'm so glad I stopped in Jacob Toft wines on a rainy December day. They make interesting deft blends from GSM to Cuvées that use Petite Verdot and Petite Sirah exceeding well in their blends. Friendly and informative tasting room staff enchanted my visit! If you enjoy rich red blends I highly recommend stopping in for a tasting and buy a bottle or two or more.

Yelp
Tin City is adorable and we found ourselves at Jacob Toft - recommended by a friend who is an avid wine drinker and who had raved about this spot to us. Not being much of an educated wine drinker myself, I was grateful to have someone giving us the "Golden guide of wine tasting", and of course Jacob Toft was on that list. We arrived early and were the only party for the hour that we were there. We had VIP treatment. Jacob himself was there and gave us a wonderful wine tasting experience. The stories he shared with each bottle made the experience one of a kind and his ability to be so personable made me feel connected to their mission and vision (which says a lot as I'm a person who really didn't know or care much about wine). It was an educational and fun experience hands down! The Inside was lovely, super comfortable and a clear effort was put into creating a nice space to drink and socialize. We sat on the couches and were offered blankets. It really couldn't have been lovelier. The wines were all special, delicious of course but I was equally as impressed with how gorgeous their bottles are. The art labels all have a story and make owning these wines feel like you have a mini art collection in your home. These bottles look beautiful on my wine rack and would also make the perfect gift. Jacob Toft was an experience and I can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Hands down the best tasting we've ever had, not only for the small-batch wines that Jacob produces but also (and maybe more importantly) because of Jacob and Kelly's kind, outgoing and engaging approach. What normally would have been a 45-minute tasting became a fun and relaxing 2-hour sip session, with many off-the-menu additions (if you're lucky enough to try the Zinfandel you've scored). Jacob was incredibly patient and engaging; he answered our never-ending fusillade of questions and made the wine-making process seem so approachable. Kelly was equally outgoing and welcoming and made the tasting even more enjoyable. While the prices might be higher than at other wineries, you get what you pay for: top-quality, small-batch libations and unparalleled customer service. (A hat tip to Tom at Central Coast Wines -- in Downtown SLO, itself a great destination for local wines -- for the recommendation; we never would have found this gem otherwise.)

Yelp
This was a great tasting experience. Excellent pours, fun and informative conversation, and interesting big red wines. Although they specialize in cuvees, the 100% Syrah that they had may have single-handedly changed my opinion on Syrah (positively!). It was fascinating to hear all the details of their production process and the way they decided on which blend to use for their cuvees. The hummingbirds flitting around the outside tables while we tasted were a nice bonus. The wines themselves were a bit above our price range, but the tasting experience itself was great. Would definitely come back again.

Yelp
O M G! Do yourself a favor and put Jacob Toft kn your Paso trip. Truly truly one of the finest red wines I've tried. Its in the very hip, cool and creative Ton City community and Hands-down the BEST wine we've had all trip. MUST VISIT This winery

Yelp
Insanely good! Jacob Toft is a treat no matter what level of wine connoisseur you are! It's delightful, bright, delicious wine. There is nothing like it! Bailey is particularly exceptional explaining the complexity and simplicity of each wine at wine tasting. I'm obsessed with Jacob Toft. May they stay true to their style and fabulous wine making. Cheers to Jacob & crew !!

Yelp
We were welcomed in here like family. Reserved tasting gets you a spot in the louge on a couch, picnic table, or comfy chairs. Walk-in tasting is done in the bar. We had a reservation so we got the good seats. Jacob Toft was there with his wife, she led our tasting. We started with a white that was the perfect starter. The 2017 Angela's Cuvee was fantastic. Next up was the 2016 Stolpman Vineyard Syrah, delish. Fun to tase various Syrah Clones. The 1016 Coral Ruth's Cuvee was great, and I'm loving the cuvee's so far! Finishing up with the 2016 Maggie's Cuvee was a nice way to reound out the tasting. Every wine here was fun, bold, smooth, sweet, dark, balanced, or some other variant that made it pleasurable. The inside is small, but well sized for a few groups of 4-8, and there's always room to find some floor in the barrel room so stop in and enjoy. We did!

Yelp
We visited Tin City for the first time. We had an absolutely delightful time. Sam at Toft could not have been nicer or more informative! We enjoyed the wine and the "chill" vibe. Great job.

Yelp
Excellent experience at Jacob Toft! My wife and I went there on the first week of January on a Thursday. Only one party was there upon our arrival. Great wines! Enjoyed every single one of them. But most importantly Frizzles was an amazing host! Entertained us and the other party with an amazing balance. Cool, down to earth guy. Treated my wife and I like friends. Would definitely go back there to get some wine, talk some basketball and hang out with Frizzles

Yelp
Love Jacob Toft wines ever since first glass of Mary Jane in old Artisan restaurant. I visit tasting place each time we go to Paso Robles. Highly recommend it to closest friends.

Yelp
I'm still enjoying wines my wife and I purchased November of 2020. The tasting experience was perfectly authentic(Covid safe) and left nothing to be desired. Jacob, his wife and the team were perfect hosts. Knowledgeable and experienced, Jacob has produced wines we have been over the moon about. We are going to return soon to try and buy their latest effort. You should too. You won't be sorry

Yelp
Jacob, kelly and the rest of the staff are a phenomenal addition to not only tin city but to the wine drinking world !! Jacob is the wine maker and extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of wine , he specializes in blends however everything he produces is top notch ! I love the pinot and mary janes gsm. His pick up parties are extremely fun, the best food, and even better guests to socialize with it's usually his & kellys family helping out so theres always great stories being told !! The tasting room is very nice with comfy couches , cold AC in the summer, clean restrooms, and their label art on the walls. Making the experience truly unique. The price point on the bottles is right in my comfort zone , making me pop bottles for all my family & friends. Thank you Jacob & Kelly , for the best wine tasting experience EVER !! Oh ya, make a reservation to guarantee a spot

Yelp
This is a small tasting room in Tin City which actually has some charm to it. Although it's not scenic, it was comfortable with friendly people and the wines were quite good. We like the wineries where he gets his grapes and together they make for some smooth yet complex wines that we really enjoyed! Definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
Want to drink some wine that will literally knit your socks then knock them off!? Then look no further. Jacob kills the wine game with solid, layered, sophisticatedly fun wines (I think that's a word) anyway go enjoy a wine that definitely sits in the upper echelons of Paso Robles wine lore.

Pat Z.

Yelp
We visited on the recommendation from another winery. We were sure glad that we did. The lady in the tasting room spent quite a bit of time with us during our tasting. Not only were the wines great the education that we got was way above par as well. She knew that we were interested in understanding more about the wines and processes and she spent plenty of time with us. A gem in Tin City.

Yelp
Apologies in advance if this sounds "snobbish" or pretentious but I would say that tasting at Jacob Toft is for the more serious wine consumer. I say this simply because there is no extra-long granite tasting bar here, no glass walls that show off an elaborate barrel room and no baskets of branded chotchkies. The tasting lobby at Toft is a simple 6 person table or a sofa, coffee table and 2 armchairs. Thats it. Its clean, comfortable and not too flashy. The only extravagance is the really cool paintings on the walls (the original artwork for Jacob Tofts bottle labels). Park your limos and wine tour vans somewhere else please. What you do get here that you don't at most bright and shiny tasting rooms though, is an audience with the winemaker. And that's where its really at . Well versed tasting room pourer's are great but talking to the man or woman themselves is what the serious wine consumer really craves: where do you source your grapes, what brix do you pick at, how much new oak do you use and what size barrels do you age in? Whats your winemaking philosophy? These are the questions that can only be answered face to face with your winemaker and that's what sets these fantastic opportunities apart from the more commercial and preconceived tasting experiences. Prices are set accordingly, of course. Bottles start at $60 for Jacob Toft wines. Fair money in my opinion and certainly a bargain compared to some regions up north :-) but something that should be known up front for sure, This kind of handcrafted quality doesn't come at a discount price :-) Talk to Jacob, enjoy his wonderful wines, he wont be this accessible for long :-)

Yelp
Our favorite wines of our Paso trip (and we tasted at Law). Met the wine maker's wife who was lovely. Cute little tasting room with very personal service. The wines are incredible. Kind of tucked away in Tin City. It's a must.

Yelp
Recommended by many wine lovers, the wine maker trained under Stephan of La'Venture but has his own great style. Very fruit forward with amazing nose. Fizzle, the owner's best friend, gave us a very warm welcome, let us taste at our leisure, and explained the philosophy and process. Highly recommend. Located in Tin City area of Paso Robles.
google avatar

Aimee N.

Yelp
Great selection of wines. It's very hard to find a selection that appeals to a group of 6 individuals. All of then having varying tastes in what type of wine they prefer. Yet, very single person in our group liked at least one of the wines on the tasting menu. That is a feat. The service was also good. Knowledgeable staff willing to answer all questions. We will be back.

Sherry M.

Yelp
We just made our second visit to this winery in Tin City. Have met with Kelli and now Fizzle. Both were very approachable and willing to spend time with us. Really great red blends and our favorite Paso winery by far!

Yelp
We always have such a enjoyable, fun and a great time when we visit Jacob and have few pours great conversations. His wines are most definitely one of our favorites. We never miss an opportunity to visit when we're in town for our pick ups. Thumbs up for Jacob Toft

Matt T.

Yelp
Tin City is one of our favorite places to go. It's full of "urban" tasting rooms of winemakers who mostly source their grapes from some of the better vineyards in the region. Jacob Toft is not only one of the best winemakers in Tin City, he's one of the best in Paso. His wines are big and bold and mostly ready to pop the cork and drink immediately (which is a rarity among most of the wines at this price point from other wineries). Jacob himself is down to earth and very easy going as he walks you through is wine. Another nice thing about Tin City is in most of the tasting rooms, you are likely to find the winemaker pouring his/her own wines on any given day. Go to Tin City, and when you do, Jacob Toft should be the first winemaker you visit.

Bob H.

Yelp
A friend recommended Jacob Toft. Said very friendly and accommodating. On 4/13/18, tried to make online reservations from their website. 4/16/18, did not hear back from them. 4/16/18, called and left msg. As of 4/19, no response.

Nes V.

Yelp
Kelly and Jacob are amazing! The wines at Jacob Toft are superb and complex. With a short menu you have the experience of sitting down with the tasting room attendants and talk about wine as if you were friends, and you continue to learn more. Love this place and the experience! Highly recommended!

Greg T.

Yelp
Very good tasting experience. Jacob sat with us and talked about the family influence on his wines. Mary Jane's Cuvee' was excellent. Very relaxed atmosphere. Very down to earth individual. Would highly recommend visiting his tasting room. Had a great time.

Yelp
Being a Viticulture & Enology Alumnus, I never knew what to say when people would ask me what my favorite wine was. Now I know! When they say "as good as it gets", I truly believe that Jacob Toft wines are the absolute best! Throughout my legal drinking life (and perhaps slightly before), I have tasted numerous wines ranging from a First Growth from Bordeaux to a simple red table wine from the grocery store. However, nothing compares to Toft. I first tried Toft (2007 Mary Jane Cuvee) with my boyfriend at the Wine Centre. It is one of those wine bars that have the Enomatic machines where you purchase a card with a certain amount of money on it, and get to go "redeem" your wine at your convenience. Once I tasted it, I was hooked, and even ordered it that night at Artisan's for dinner. When I got back home to the South Bay I made a B-line to K&L and they happened to have some 2001 Jacob Toft Syrah. Being a 2001, I was nervous, but it ended up being delicious and I knew that this guy was really on to something. For my birthday this year, my boyfriend arranged a private tasting with Mr. Toft at Denner (Toft doesn't have his own facility, yet). Jacob tasted us through four of his 2010 wines and a couple of tastes from barrels. Although all of them were delicious and showed great potential, I really enjoyed the 2010 Tessa's cuvee (all of his wines are named after important women in his life). Mr. Toft was unpretentious (sometimes rare in the wine industry) and truly believes that what makes good wine is good grapes! If you're thirsty, try some Toft!

Lysa M.

Yelp
Went in to taste. Our group was immediately turned off by the staff. Apparently you need a reservation. And if you ask questions about the finish, be prepared to practically be shown the door. I wouldn't waste my precious time on this snobby location!!!!!
