On the Grid : Jain Coffee House

"You'll either love or absolutely hate the strange (read eclectic) fruit sandwiches at Jain Coffee House, but there's no ignoring the curious mix of seasonal fresh fruit, cottage cheese and a sweet marmalade. The quiet coffee house, a side business for a grain trader and off of bustling Chawri Bazaar, adds to the charm of the experience." - Delhi Dallying

This place is not for everyone, definitely not a place to visit with spouse or family. But if you want to hangout with your friends over a cup of tea/coffee and sandwich, or want to have some "me" time while sipping shakes/cold coffee, then this place is for you. Cost is on a higher side, we paid 160/- for their mixed fruit sandwich. Taste was delicious, they put a lot of sweet syrup, otherwise it would have been even better. Vegetable sandwiches are average but costly compared to other spots. Worth a try if you are a foodie.

This shop is run by two old uncles. They are serving a variety of sandwiches. I tried their mixed fruit sandwiches and coffee, which cost me 190/- rupees. ( 160+ 30 ) Which i feel is quite expensive. Taste is just normal. The only thing that i like there is atmosphere. No sound, no hustle bustle. It feels like you have come back in the past. It is a one-time experience that you must do in your life. Just turn on your phone airplane mode. And enjoy the atmosphere. Note : Only cash, no online payment

This place gives vibes of old Delhi in 1950s but but but this place needs upgradation this place in the name of old ambiance is not well maintained no proper lightning and white washing . Now coming to the food it's amazing but I feel considering the ambience and facilities the prices are too high. Overall it's a good place if you can get it packed and eat outside.

It's a very old and dilapidated shop. I wasn't expecting much when I visited here. But their Fruit Sandwich turned out to be a star. You can also get the sandwich toasted by specifically asking for it. Also liked the coffee here. The price might feel a little on the higher side. But overall, this is a must try place when in Chawri Bazar.

Not pleasant to watch the place n reaching the place is an expedition... specially the 1 Feet street through which u have to go there even a slim person person like me can't enter into that street straight ....no boards where se ever to find the place finally called them up to actually reach there after roaming for 20mins here n there......service was slow as the old n patient chef uncle's were making everything fresh for us right in front of us which was pleasant to watch .....while waiting we were listening to some 60s bollywood songs for entertainment which was quate a feel as the shop seemed to be that old only .....n finally we had Our order done . Tried three things Samosa Sandwich Paneer Sandwich Fruit Sandwich ( Signature special ) Of Jain Coffee house USP if u don't have cash there is an ATM right opposite there shop which I also used . In all a great experience n a good memory made .

First of all it was difficult to find this place even with google maps. It’s located in a narrow lane. The food is very expensive for a place that offers no ambience or any AC facility. Yes it’s a very old cafe. But then it has not at all been maintained. I ordered a fruit sandwich and a pineapple shake. The sandwich was good but nothing extraordinary. And yes it was heavy, so two people can easily eat in a single plate. It mainly contained slices of mango. The pineapple shake was good. Overall this cafe was not worth the hype !
