Discovering Jakarta’s hip side: cafes, restaurants and fashion labels - SilverKris

"Set in the former City Hall of Batavia — once the administrative headquarters of the Dutch East India Company and later the colonial government — this recently renovated museum houses a substantial collection of more than 23,000 artifacts. Exhibits span historic maps, paintings, ceramics and furniture through to prehistoric objects, offering a comprehensive look at the city’s past and colonial legacy." - SilverKris

Amazing to tour around and understand a deeper history of Indonesia and its culture. Absolutely must see for all tourists even if you get charged the double the price because you're discriminated against for being a tourist. Took a lot of time. Went with a well informed guide that carefully and with great detail went through each room, showing things that you would absolutely miss without the guide. To see a dining table that was cut from one piece of wood was fascinating. The rich and how they waste their money. Times don't change that's for sure!

One of interesting places to visit in Jakarta. It is from an old Dutch Gavernor Office. However, its building condition should be maintained better. Overall, worth to visit.

Perfect museum and place to find about Indonesia in the Batavia period. Classical architecture covered in white. There's some museums around the area of Kota Tua (Old Town of Jakarta) so make sure to come around 9 AM to stroll around the area (not too hot and crowded). You can also rent bike to enjoy the ambience of old historical buildings 🥰

Visiting the Jakarta History Museum was a captivating journey through time. Situated in the heart of the old city, its location in a historic building added to its unique charm. The exhibits were fascinating, offering a glimpse into Jakarta's rich history. However, I couldn't help but feel that the artifacts deserved a more climate-controlled environment with air conditioning, especially given the tropical climate. Nonetheless, it was a memorable experience that I would recommend to anyone interested in delving into Jakarta's past. Additionally, they have a nice souvenir shop, perfect for taking home a piece of Jakarta's history.

Finally, during 30 years, despite repeated visits to the city of Jakarta, I achieved my dream of going to this wonderful museum, through which the most important features of the history of the wonderful city of Jakarta are highlighted. I enjoyed very much what was inside this museum, and I will repeat the visit at another time to take more pictures.
