A quirky little museum! It was quite small but fans of James Joyce (especially Ulysses) will enjoy it. It was a little hectic when I visited because they were preparing for Bloomsday but overall the staff were kind and friendly. They had a few interesting books and journals about James Joyce in the store too! (As well as some free books in the entrance hallway.)

Google
Really cool and well-put together exhibition following James Joyce’s life and his experience with Ulysses. They focus on the women that made him who he is as well as his craft and his living situations throughout his life…excellent. I had a great time here!

Adult - 7€ Student - 5 € A museum well organized with a great guide! Representing the Ulysses story very well, with virtual original objects!

Very friendly and welcoming. Can't wait to come back. A must-visit for anyone interested in James Joyce, 'Ulysses', or Dublin.

An essential stopping-off point for Joyce enthusiasts, and those who just want to find out more. The Centre organises walking tours and Joyce-related events. Don't miss the original front door of no 7 Eccles St, the most famous address in literature. (And I am including The Stable, Bethlehem, here, AND 121b Baker St, London.)

This is an absolute treasure if you have an interest in James Joyce, his literature, and the history of Dublin. I also recommend it to anyone who may not be as familiar with Joyce, but are curious about Joyce and his art. My recent visit to Dublin coincided with Joyce's birthday, and the James Joyce Centre was one of the highlights of my trip. The two walking tours they currently offer (I participated in both) are wonderful ways to bring Joyce's art to life, following in the footsteps of Joyce's childhood and characters from his stories. These tours are certain to add incredible depth to anyone's next reading of Joyce's works. The tours are led by passionate, knowledgable, and fun guides. The Centre itself features multiple quality exhibits focusing on Joyce's life and literature. The courtyard out back features the door from 7 Eccles St as well as an impressive mural representing the episodes of Ulysses in vivid images and quotations. But the real strength of the Centre are the people I met and spoke with about Joyce and his art. The staff were welcoming, happy to share their knowledge and eager to help with any questions. I'll definitely visit again when I return to Dublin, and will keep an eye on their website for upcoming events.

I bought a ticket for Leopold Bloom's footsteps Walktour (The walk tours are only on Fridays and includes the entrance to the centre). The tour through the city was very fun and the guide, Leslie, was amazing, on every step he read and sometimes acted some lines from Ulysses. Take in consideration that the tour lasts more than 2 hours, and finishes on the national library of Ireland.

Yelp
Maybe I was just so unlucky when visiting this museum of James Joyce because I saw very little, except an big old but empty house, some posters about Ulysses in the stair cases, an empty small auditorium, and the restoration of Joyce's original tiny Manhattan- style apartment (that's actually the best part of this entire museum). Joyce had a such rich life full of stories, sentiments and legendries and I don't know why this museum can't be a bit more diligent to display his life and work. During the same trip I visited Dublin, there was a free exhibition about Yeats' life and work at the National Library and that exhibit was full of in-depth insights, all-media display, and a lot of details and art works. Don't you Dubliners love your two literature giants equally? Can you guys treat James Joyce a little bit better? I am literally angry now!

Yelp
I walked past this spot everyday on my way to my old job. It always seems to have a steady flow of visitors to it. On one occasion I was one of them. You can pay to look at the exhibits only which came to 5 euro or you can do a walking tour as well which costs 10 euro. There are discounts for students and O.A.P's. Firstly the displays were very informative with regards to Joyce's work, I enjoyed the short documentaries. I preferred the walking tour but only marginally. It was great to trace the steps of a young Joyce and in a lot of ways it helped understand what inspired the great man.

Yelp
Perfect place to those interested in Irish literature. It is some kind of museum mixed with a gallery. The entrance fee is 5 euros and 4 euros for students. It has 2 floor that shows excerpts of James writings, pictures, panels... It might be cool if you are a fun of him. I went there as part of a bike your so we couldn't stay long. I would recommend it.

Yelp
We came here specifically for the guided walking tours which are amazing! Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly, absolutely wonderful experience. The staff in the cultural centre were also very helpful though we decided not to go into the "museum" based on previous reviews. For Joyce fans this is a must visit but do the walking tours instead.

Yelp
Totally lacking. I couldn't recommend it even if it was free. If you want to know about Joyce go to Wikipedia instead. As a cultural center promoting Joyce and his works it may very well be excellent but I was expecting a museum type experience, maybe my fault for not checking in advance.

Yelp
If you're a James Joyce fan, or just interested in the history Dublin and its relation to writers, this is the place to visit. Joyce was a genius, and this centre is dedicated to that genius. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Very clean, spacious and well-organized, with a nice gift store. The centre offers amazing insight into the man that was the face of modernism.

Yelp
Basically very little to do with James Joyce, but its worth it to watch a series of three documentaries about him. You learn a lot, even though you don't get much in the way of a museum. It also shows you places to visit. (National Library first and foremost).

Yelp
It's small but less populated. You can take a lot of pictures, imagining you're joining the group readings there. You can also knock the door of James Joyce's house in the back garden. Joyce scholars might be disappointed here, but this place is somewhat inspiring to laymen like me. I wanted to start Ulysses after visiting this place although I would be able to start after I get retired.
