I had a very nice time!,I had the tremendous opportunity to meet the local cheif and visit there shrine TOMORROW SCHEDULE MEETING Time: 3pm Venue: Jamestown British Accra PEOPLE TO MEET Mr BRIAN NII ARMAAH AUSTIN( NII ODIASEMPA) Mr EMMANUEL Mark Hansen(NII DJASE) Mr LOFTY VERN BRIMAH Gabriel Amanda manseh Clyde Ashley Sherman Kofi from America 3 years 4 months on a Spiritual Journey Let GO...Let GOD There shrine doubles as a make shift Orphanage/school/DayCare/ Community Center according to the local cheif . The leadership there wanted a serious equity partner to help build a structure to support a school and School Day Care and Community Center...all great things for a serious development cheif. The guys I introduce were not seriously committed to a start up Orphanage. They had serious issues that it was not established well enough in the officially funded paper work trail but in reality I believe the children in the Jamestown Historical Fishing Community did benefit from my mysterious unknown Dubia impromptu Donation..10k ghcds was prayed over br a Ashanti Crown Prince Blessing the Investor money that was used to by items he alone picked out..They selected food and drinks..no school supplies or funds..there was talk to revisit and possible buy a cow..that might happen but not with me..The Donator was on another path than my Spiritual Journey..and I was led to move in another positive uplifting community direction ...

Even though the lighthouse was closed when I went, it was still nice being at such a historically and culturally rich site. Hopefully, it will be open next time I visit Ghana.

Tours were available but we didn't have time. It would have included the prison as well. My hope is that the contributions do indeed serve to improve the local community.

Jamestown Lighthouse was nice. In November of 2024 there were no tours. We visited on a weekday. The lighthouse and surrounding area is in need of a beautification project. It is sad to see this historical landmark in dire need of something.

If you go with a local guide there, please be careful and confirm the price before you go!! The local guide in tourism information centre told me the tour is GH¢50 but once I finished my walking tour, he told me it's GH¢150 (US$10) because each site is GH¢50. I appreciate him for telling me history, but I also hope he could use part of the money to support the community as he said, not just only scam me. Overall, the place is worth a visit and tour guide also helped me gaining a lot of history knowledge about British Accra(Jamestown). You'll learn how British came here and did slaves trading around Jamestown fort in 1700s. However, if you want to walk alone it's free, but you won't be able to enter the Jamestown Fort. The below photos showed my whole tour that tour guide arranged.

Interesting place but beware of the tour guides. I overpaid for a ‘donation to a school’ on top of the price of the ‘tour’. Don’t pay more than 100 cedis. Anyway, I probably made his week with what I paid!

Perched on the edge of Accra’s coastline, the Jamestown Lighthouse stands as a proud sentinel of Ghana’s colonial past and maritime legacy. My visit to this iconic landmark was nothing short of captivating. The structure itself, with its bold red-and-white stripes, is a striking sight against the backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean. Climbing to the top offered panoramic views that were absolutely breathtaking—waves crashing below, the bustle of Jamestown’s fishing community, and the historic architecture that dots the area. It’s a place where time seems to pause, allowing you to soak in the rich stories etched into every corner. Beyond the lighthouse, the surrounding neighborhood pulses with life and culture. From street art to local guides sharing tales of the past, Jamestown is a living museum. The lighthouse isn’t just a structure—it’s a gateway to understanding Accra’s roots and the resilience of its people. If you’re seeking a blend of history, scenery, and authentic local flavor, Jamestown Lighthouse is a must-see.
