Nice warm day here in St Andrews and saw lots of people walking around with ice creams so thought ‘why not’? Lovely little shop with the biggest selection of flavours on offer, it was absolutely packed with punters. The shops nice and clean and tidy and the staff lovely and friendly. Ice cream absolutely beautiful along with the cone. Not cheap but well worth the money especially on a hot day. I had coffee and caramel ice cream and coconut, free chunk of tablet (I think) with the coffee which was the nicest coffee I’ve ever had!

I've visited Jannetta's twice now & in my opinion it can't be beaten. The sweeter flavours are rich and luxurious, with the more tart & fruity items providing some much needed refreshment. Overall this place offers a truly decadent experience you won't want to miss.

Visited Jannettas Gelateria last week and had an amazing experience. I tried the Mascarpone, Cherry & Almond flavour—rich, creamy, and full of texture with the perfect balance of sweet and nutty. My partner had Pistachio, which was incredibly smooth and packed with authentic nutty flavour. Our friends went for Vanilla & Raspberry Ripple, and they absolutely loved it—classic and refreshing. The quality of the gelato was outstanding, and you can tell everything is made with care. Prices are reasonable too—around £10 for two people if you go for double scoops. Definitely worth it for the taste and portion size. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in St Andrews

I probably would have been lured in by the pretty pastel mint green awning even if our shuttle driver hadn't recommended we go there. I loved that they had dozens of flavors. I tend towards the fruity gelatos so I had the tayberry and elderflower, and they tasted so fresh and weren't too sweet. Definitely make a stop here if you are in St. Andrew's.

Google
One of the best gelatos I’ve ever had. Ice cream is affordable, delicious with a firm and creamy texture and does not melt fast. On top of that there are many flavors to choose from. In the end we chose rum and raisin, 54% chocolate and coffee and chocolate. Service is efficient and quick. The lady whom tended to us was very nice and friendly and allowed us to taste test some flavors before making our picks. Would recommend to anyone visiting St Andrew’s craving for a quick sweet treat.

Google
there are so many options, which might be a tough task to choose. but the shop clerk is nice and willing to give you a try for different flavors. i chose sea salt and dark chocolate after i tried it and compared it to the rose and chocolate flavor. the mixed taste of savory and sweet was great while the other is a bit too sweet for me.

Google
What a shop, great selection of ice cream!!! Our party of 4 tried 8 different flavours and all were lovely. Slightly expensive but worth it!!!

Google
This gelateria has always been a special stop for me every time I visit St Andrews — the gelato is incredibly authentic and reminds me of home. On my last visit, I had the chance to speak with the lovely owner for the first time. We discovered that I come from a city in Italy very close to where his wife is from — such a nice coincidence! Thank you again for the warm welcome and the kind gesture… it truly meant a lot. Can’t wait to come back again!

Yelp
We visited Jannetta's on a February Saturday and it was bustling. Lovely bright inside with plenty of seating, plenty of servers and an amazing array of gelato flavours. Very nice and very difficult not to end up there on a daily basis.

Yelp
Great variety of ice creams. Something for everyone. Nice interior and friendly staff

Yelp
Very refreshing on a rare, hot day in St. Andrews. Almost too many flavors to choose from... almost.

Yelp
Cute cafe right in the water in this charming fishing village. The restaurant was packed on a Sunday afternoon. We lined up for takeaway gelato which was worth the wait.

Yelp
Holey Schmoley - SO YUMMY!! - Staffed to handle the crowd, the gelato here is absolutely outstanding. Don't miss out!

Isabelle N.

Yelp
Seasonal flavor - Parma Violet with brownie bites at the bottom! Fudge on the brownies was extremely rich making this perfect to share with someone. Cost for single scoop + brownie bites was £5.50.

Yelp
Amazing ice cream creations. Try the Oreo waffle sundae. Service was quick and fantastic. Free WiFi which was nice while traveling abroad. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Ice cream tastes somewhat disappointing given the reputation this place has. Chocolate fudge could have been a lot better and stracciatela was nothing special.

Yelp
Blueberry cheesecake ice cream is delicious! Latte is very solid. Cute, scenic place for a snack.

Yelp
We held a quick lunch stop here. The soup was awesome. The roast beef sandwich was lacking everything. Barely any roast beef, lettuce , or tomato. Wish we'd had time for some ice cream. We were seated in front of a wall wallpapered with the Jannetta family history, which was fun to look over.

Yelp
The hazelnut gelato is everything. Too many good flavors to choose. Go early or late to skip the long line.

Yelp
Would have given it 5 stars if it weren't for the price. Great gelato! I only decided to try it because there was a line up going out the door so it had to be good! I got a double scoop in a waffle cone- Oreo and pistachio. I have to say that the pistachio was a little disappointing and doesn't taste as good as some other pistachio gelatos I've tried. Oreo one was great though and luckily it was a sunny day so it was perfect.

Sara G.

Yelp
You KNOW it's gotta be good when there's a line out the door and half way gown the block!!! Who would mind waiting in line with a friend to get ice cream!?! I mean you don't go out for ice cream with people you don't like. Just enjoy the good company & fresh air while you wait...it's WORTH it.

Yelp
Amazing ice cream and iced coffee drink. Lovely decor inside and really helpful staff.

Yelp
We visited St Andrews in October and went here on the recommendation of a good friend, I'm so glad we did! Funnily enough given the time of year, and chilly day, the ice cream side of the shop wasn't overly busy. It's a bright, modern shop with a giant freezer cabinet showcasing over 20 flavours of ice cream and around 6 sorbets / frozen yogurts on top. There were lots of traditional favourites (like strawberry or mint choc chip) but lots of different flavour combos too like banana and salted caramel. We were offered tasters when it was clear that we were struggling to make our minds up which was lovely. I asked to use the toilet whilst deciding what flavours to go with and that's when I noticed there's an adjoining cafe space, set out with large booths, that looked rather inviting. I noticed a good few highchairs and activities for kids and generally liked the look of the place. The toilets were lovely and clean with a big old baby change area too. You can have you ice cream in a tub or in one of about 12 different cones! From double cones, to chocolate wafers, to oreo dipped creations, there's something for everyone. I eventually went with the oreo cone with banana and salted caramel and some kind of super creamy vanilla. I really enjoyed it and the scoop sizes were generous. I will be making a return visit the next time I'm in the area.

Yelp
Amazing gelato, just like ITALY only many more flavors. Interesting ones, too. Very helpful and friendly staff. Highly recommended!!

Yelp
I wasn't brave enough to try the Irn-Bru flavoured sorbet, but with so many flavours available, I felt like a kid in a.... well... ice cream store. I had a cone with one scoop of elderflower sorbet, one scoop of raspberry sorbet, and all dipped in chocolate sprinkles. It was divine. Jannettas has a real hometown ice cream parlour feel to it, including big jars of old fashioned pick n' mix sweets to ogle and admire. Definitely worth a stop, even on the coldest of Scottish summer days.

Yelp
Best ice cream I have ever had over twenty flavors all creamy and delicious.

Yelp
After a long day at a work event an ice cream in the sun by the seaside is a pretty good way to unwind. So it was that I found myself heading to Jannettas with my boss and another colleague for a sugary pick me up before heading home to Glasgow. When we arrived at the shop there was a long queue out the door, and while the obvious popularity was heartening I was worried about a long wait. All those people keeping me from my ice cream! I needn't have worried though and there were plenty of servers behind the long counter, efficiently dealing with the crowd. This then led to another dilemma, how was I going to pick my flavours with only a few minutes to consider the lengthy list of options! Jannettas has plenty to choose from for everyone, offering gelato, sorbet and frozen yoghurt. They boast a rotating menu of over 100 flavours and there were at least 40 to choose from when we were there. In the end I opted for a three scoop tub with chocolate fudge brownie, panna cotta and salted caramel. The chocolate fudge brownie was suitably decadent, the panna cotta creamy and boasting whole raspberries, but the winner of the three was the salted caramel. The perfect mix of salty and sweet, with a lovely rich caramel flavour. It was quite possibly the best ice cream I've ever tasted. My cheeky boss who sneaked a bit also agreed! My only problem with Jannettas? It's location, St Andrews is too far away from Glasgow!

Yelp
This is as good an ice cream place that exists on the planet. Too bad one has to travel to St. Andrews - on the East Coast of Scotland, on the North Sea - to try it. Prepare for a long line. We've been twice. Once at 3pm, once at 9pm. ... Now we just need to find a gym.

Yelp
What a great place. There are a lot of options for ice cream and the the staff is friendly. It feels very European when you walk inside, so you know it's not your typical American ice cream parlor. I'm going to try to go back before I go home to the states.
google avatar

Jason T.

Yelp
Very good gelato. They have a lot of flavors to choose. The staff was very friendly. I will definitely go back next time I'm in St. Andrews, and seeing that it's St. Andrews, I'm hoping it's not too long until I get back.

Soo N.

Yelp
They have a lot of flavors that arent available at other ice cream parlors. I don't know about "over a hundred" or however many they say they have, but they do have a wide range of flavors that actually taste pretty good! The location is super convenient. Its right near the historic cathedral/cemetery in St. Andrews. I wonder if the prince came here when he was in school... hehehe

Yelp
It has been my avowed intent over the past few years of attending an annual summer course in St. Andrews, to sample every single one of the 99 flavours. I've failed. Largely because the 10 or so I've sampled are so utterly delicious (and probably laced with something highly addictive to keep people coming back for MORE) that I queue (and boy is there a queue in August), salivating, desperate to have more turkish delight / rum and raisin /banana /coconut/melon sorbet etc. etc. Prices are ridiculously cheap. They could charge twice as much and people would still feel they'd had a good deal! And how they stay so cheerful and friendly and polite in tourist season is utterly beyond me. I have not a bad word to say!

Yelp
Jannetta's is always my first port of call when I visit St Andrews! Like someone else said, I always say I'm going to try new flavours and try EVERY ONE but then I always remember how nice my favourites are! Ferrero rocher, double cream dime, brazilian coffee, peanut butter, yum yum!
google avatar

Qype User (rweres…)

Yelp
Both a cafe and ice-cream take out shop, Jannetta's has some of the best ice-cream I have ever tried. It has been in St Andrews for many years, and established itself as a great little place for locals, students, tourists or anyone really! Skyblue, Oreo, Elderberry (a must to try!) or Turkish delight are some of the flavours available, however the cafe also sells homemade sandwiches, tarts, cakes and in the mornings a bacon baguette and drink (£2) Out of the way a little down the bottom of south street (furthest away from the sea) it is well worth a walk down. It is a tad more expensive as an ice-cream place, but well well worth a visit and CANNOT BE MISSED!
google avatar

Qype User (c5320…)

Yelp
Not much to say really. Well know for serving THE best ice cream anywhere in the UK and probably the world. If Carlsberg made ice cream.....
google avatar

Fiona M.

Yelp
Janettas will often have queues out the door and along the street as soon as the temperature rises! And queuing can be part of the fun. While its ice cream is very good, so is that of the lesser known Luvians on Market Street - where there usually aren't queues! What Janettas also offers is a diner cafe experience next door to the ice-cream takeaway, with freshly made varying salads and soups including good veggie options. And if you order tea or coffee, it comes with a square of homemade tablet on the side. Only reason not to give 5 is that service can be a teensy slow in the cafe. If you have the time though, it's worth the wait.
google avatar

Qype User (hgibso…)

Yelp
It is hard to describe how good the ice cream is at Jannetta's - the range of flavours is incredible and the creamy texture is second to none. Jannetta's is only a short walk from the pier and East Sands beach, so on a sunny day, your ice cream hasn't melted before you are looking at the sea - perfect! Jannetta's has a take out shopwhere you can buy ice cream and sweets, but it also has a cafe next door with designer ice cream sundaes. Good selection of hot and cold food, particularly sandwiches, and desserts and cakes are also available, but what makes this place unqiue is definately their ice creams. Worth the walk down south street!

Yelp
Looking for delicious ice cream? One of the best ice cream places I have been to so far. There is a large variety of flavors. You can sit in or take away. If you choose to sit in there are also some cakes offered. When in St. Andrews and an ice cream fan then you should visit Jannettas. Enjoy

Yelp
Everyone was telling me to try this place out when I'm in St Andrews, Scotland. It was for sure one of the best ice creams in the world. I'm doing my best to not over exaggerate this, but I truly believe it. I noticed a sign that said the vanilla was made at 7 pm and it was now 7:30 pm. So I thought I would try it. This was a great choice on my part. MUST TRY THIS PLACE!!!

Yelp
Absolutely love visiting St Andrews, its a great place and the ice cream from here is always a treat. I tend to have the amaretto but the choices are vast and every one I have tasted is delicious. It doesn't matter if its summer or winter, you can't pass Jannettas for an ice cream when your in St Andrews
google avatar

Qype User (guycro…)

Yelp
The ice cream at jannettas is second to none. There is an excellent and constantly changing range of flavours to choose from including some scottish classics such as tablet and iron bru! Next door is the coffee shop with an equally imaginative menu of light snacks and drinks.

Qype User (nicmcd…)

Yelp
The best ice cream in Scotland! I spent a lot of my student loan in the icecream shop of janettas, they have a huge choice of icecream and sorbet, including irnbru flavour ( a personal favourite). I've been away from St Andrews for a few years now but Jannettas icecream is always my first point of call when I get back to visit.

Qype User (Ellisb…)

Yelp
Amazing ice cream in a huge variety of flavours. Make sure you get there early in Summer though, it's so good that the queues are always out of the door!
