Google
Decent restaurant in the centre of Cascais. The staff were professional without being overly friendly. The food however was fantastic. Very simple, well prepared and delicious. Also very reasonably priced. Worth a visit if you fancy an excellent chicken and chips while in Cascais.

In the central Cascais which is one of the beautiful towns near Lisbon of Portugal 🇵🇹 which has one best place to go is this. There are many tourist traps in the area but this one is real and old one and favourite of locals. Prawns in olive oil and Mussels were best for me and do try their chilli oil with it. Many things to choose from menu but was short of time. If hungry and nearby this place do only go to this as others are very commercial.

The worst meal I had in Portugal after 2 weeks here. The place was extremely unpleasant and we were harassed by 5-8 flies all at once throughout our meal. We had to constantly keep swatting the flies away as we ate. It was such a turn off. I ordered the Bacalhau a bras and the potato was not crispy, super oily and had very little cod fish. I had the same dish more than 8 times this trip and this is by far the worst. When we asked for a separate bill for the table, the staff was not happy about it. This meal was not cheap and was definitely pricier. I had the same dish for 12-15 euros elsewhere but this dish was for 17 so it better be good but it was not even close… very disappointing. I also lost my appetite after chasing the flies away and could only finish half. Their only saving grace is that the portions are big (but barely any meat). Our tour guide from get your guide recommended this restaurant and we saw him eating there so we thought it was good for the locals. But after trying this place out, there was nothing good about it and he must have gotten a free meal for recommending people here. Please don’t listen to your tour guides and just explore and find food on your own. Feeling so disappointed about this whole incident and wasted a meal here.

The restaurant is busy. The waiters do not serve you automatically until you ask, e.g. getting a menu. We have to ask several times to get a menu and pay the bill. When you asked them, they usually didn't give you response. You have to wait at least 5 minues to get things done. The rudest and most unfriendly waiters we'd met in Portugal. In general, the Portuguese are nice and friendly. We ordered soups of the day, octopus salad, codfish "Bacalhau com Natas", spaghetti with shrimp, roasted chicken, which comes with fries. The roasted chicken tasted good, but the fries are not crispy and very oily. The shredded codfish tasted ok but with bones. Not suitable for children because they may not be able to find the bones. Overall it's pricey with this level of service and food quality.

Google
I ate here for lunch when I first arrived in Cascais and I loved it! The half chicken and chips were fantastically priced, the service was fast and friendly and the chicken was incredibly flavourful. It was so great I came back the night before I left to get more chicken to takeaway. Thank you for such wonderful food, I would come back to Cascais just for this!

Google
No frills, simple authentic absolutely delicious food. For what it is, this is a 5 stars. The olives as appetizer were really good, the octopus also good but the chicken served with fries, although really simple, is legendary. I would eat here again and often if I had a chance! Note: Cash only here.

Google
I’ve had plenty of grilled chicken in the past but none like this charcoal grilled chicken!!! Full of flavour and delicious ! Skin crispy and comes with a peri peri sauce which is very spicy !! Service nice and quick ! Although watch out - NO card payments accepted , ONLY CASH!!

Yelp
Hole in the wall but serves spectacular food! My favorite type of establishment! The chicken might be one of the best I've had in Lisbon. The pasta was a simple garlic and oil but it was perfect! No frills, come hungry and leave satisfied. Cash only. Great service too.

Yelp
Located in the coast beach town of Cascais, this restaurant offers a variety of dishes from both the sea and land that always satisfy. We ordered the açorda de camarão (açorda is a traditional Portuguese dish that uses bread for its base and can be flavored in a multitude of ways. This time it was shrimp), the grilled squid (delicious), the crispy cod fritters (not to be confused with the ever present cod fish cakes), and the grilled chicken. Everything was well prepared and delicious. Recommend.

Yelp
Great unexpected find! Our tour van dropped us at Jardim Visconde da Luz, a park in Cascais, and told us we had 90 minutes to have lunch and walk around. We opted to walk around first, so when it came to lunch, we had less than an hour. Jardim dos Frangos was the first restaurant that caught our eye. We walked in and told the gentleman who greeted us that we were in a hurry. He assured us that wouldn't be a problem, so we sat for lunch. Our server was at our table in no time. She was awesome! Everything arrived on time, but not too fast to ruin our short experience! We started with a couple of glasses of Green Wine and cheese. Then came the Portuguese-style vegetable soup and Portuguese garlic Shrimp (highly recommended!). Finally came the swordfish, which we shared. The experience was a short but pleasant one. The staff was amiable and good at their jobs. We paid and caught our tour ride on time!

Yelp
I loved everything about this restaurant! This is a must place to eat at if you are in Cascais! Food: we ordered the sheep cheese with bread to start which was very good! For our mains we ordered the chicken piri Piri! I was not expecting this but they gave us a side of piri piri sauce as opposed to marinating the chicken! Regardless, it was so delicious! The chicken was so well seasoned and the sauce added the perfect spicy kick. The meal also came with fries Ambience: it was a beautiful day so we sat outside and it was the perfect place to eat because we were able to enjoy the amazing scenery! This place is very busy and I noticed a lot of locals coming here Price: very reasonable Service: good service - they are fast

Yelp
Did not like the food. Had the cod and thought it was just blah. Huge portion but no flavor. We've been in Portugal for a week and this was my least favorite meal. My friend had the chicken and she said the chicken breast was good but the chicken leg was very dry. One other person in the party had the shrimp and pasta and again ... just not that good.

Yelp
For once in Portugal, this place has excellent fast service. They are known for their roasted chicken and it was very good. Nice crispy fries as well. Ambiance is casual and not fussy, Service was courteous and efficient. Bathrooms: Only two single-occupancy, one for men, one for women. Honestly, not enough for this many patrons.

Yelp
I ordered the beef tenderloin which was a "typical" Portuguese dish according to the restaurant. The dish came with French fries (fried potato). I really enjoyed my meal. The beef strip was tender and the oil and garlic sauce at the bottom of the dish was really flavorful. I used the drippings as a dipping sauce for my fries! I did notice that a lot of patrons ordered the marinated chicken with French fries. I didn't taste it myself but based off their facial expressions, this dish appears to be really good as well. I would definitely recommend that beef tenderloin or the chicken dish if you're not a seafood person like myself.

Yelp
We had the chicken with garlic sauce, it was dry and had a strange taste. My son had the cod dinner and was burned on some areas and didn't have any flavor.

Yelp
We went here towards the end of our stay and just didn't have an overall pleasant experience. The food, (we ordered both the fish and the chicken) was burned and incredibly salty. It was pricier than other places in the area but didn't match the quality. On top of it all our waiter came off as grumpy and largely unhelpful. Not an ideal experience.

Yelp
Excellent take out service with a nice selection of delicious food! The frango assado is sooo good! Everything we tried was fresh and delicious. The people working on this side of the business were very nice and helpful. We look forward to our next purchase!

Yelp
Came here for lunch on a day-trip to Cascais after reading the reviews, and it definitely lived up to its expectation. The piri-piri chicken is just amazing and perfectly cooked. Goes well with the spicy sauce they have, or even without! It comes with a bunch of fries, but apparently you can ask for a salad substitution instead. Wish I knew about that while ordering. The half chicken is quite an amount, and good enough for 2 meals.

Yelp
My friends and I Was brought here by family while visiting the cascais area. It was my fiances brothers favourite place for chicken. We were seated promptly and given menus. It was nice that they had a bilingual menu. It helped with understanding what was available. We knew we had to have the chicken but the day before during our walking tour our guide told us if you have a chance to try the bacalau a bras you should before leaving Portugal. We saw it on the menu and ordered it to. As well the rest of the table ordered pretty much the same except my father in law who order the octopus. When our food came the portions were pretty big and everything was delicious! The chicken was very moist and the fries were perfect! I like me my fries haha. The Bacalhau a bras was indeed very delicious and tasty! As well I was able to try some of the octopus and man oh man the best thing I have ever tasted. It is so hard to cook octopus since if cooked to long can be chewy but this was cooked to perfection! So soft an juicy and full of flavour! If you are in the area you should check it out! We were a table of 6 with everyone getting a drink and a bottle of wine to share we paid about 75€. I thought we would of been in the 120€ price range!

Yelp
Good service, simple, non pretentious food, generous servings for a decent price in a picturesque setting. Cascais offers a plethora of eating options. We were on a chicken quest - and were recommended Jardim dos Frangos. The melon with serano ham is refreshing and a perfect mix of sweet and salty on a hot day. Recommended. The octopus with olive oil - was quite tender, but lacked depth of flavour. Needed additional salt, pepper and heat. Would not recommend. Now, the chicken was disappointing. Dry, and lacked seasoning. Would not recommend. Overall, a decent eatery with an outside courtyard.

Yelp
It's simple food, it's delicious. We ran across this place as the best place for Portuguese rotisserie chicken and it definitely did not disappoint. Definitely has a touristy feel to it and the location is pretty easy to find but well worth the hype. The Piri-Piri chicken is a must taste! Its one of those must do places if you are in Cascais, you must try and must not miss.

Yelp
I took off a star because we had the grumpiest waiter I've ever had- or one of. But the food was great and the prices are good. I had the 9 euro chicken- and split it with my daughter. It was plenty. If you're really hungry, do a place for yourself- but that's a lot of food! It great though. Chicken is SO moist and perfectly flavored. They will charge for bread and also for butter, I think- so don't let them put it on your table if you do not want it. Ditto for the starters- those aren't free- send 'em back if you do not want them on the bill!

Yelp
You get what you pay for. I ordered the t-bone steak special for 13 euros and the meat was chewy and hard to cut through. I even sent it back thinking maybe if it was cooked a little more - WRONG. The chicken was good but nothing to return to. PROS: Patio seating/people watching Prices CONS: Steak was chewy

Yelp
Nobody does it better ! We have searched over the years and believe Skip any imitators simple perfection if you like true charcoal grilled spicy piri piri chicken in the heart of Cascais Takeout or sit down Juicy delicious birds Ask for really spicy if you can handle it Grab some tasty chips and they also make a delicious grilled salt cod Restaurant next door to the takeout is a basic casual typical joint Great idea is to grab a chicken and chips to eat on the beach A Cascais institution not to be missed

Yelp
Great Chicken! We thought this was a tourist trap and avoided it for a few years, but then we tried their garlic chicken. Really delicious with generous portions. I highly recommend the Jardim dos Frango's!

Yelp
Good restaurant specializing in chicken dishes located in central Cascais. Generous portions. Be sure to ask for "spicy" if you want a generous amount of peri peri.

Yelp
The dinner and the beer were great and the staff was very accomodating. It was nice to be able to sit out front and watch all the activity.

Yelp
We came here twice during our stay in Cascais ... the restaurant has really declicious roast chicken, with a wonderful piri-piri sauce. Quite good. One of the times was via takeaway and that was not so good as the chicken was dry. I'm not sure if they use different ones for takeaway, it was just unfortunate, or the quick walk to our place there was too much for the poor chicken, but that was not as good as the meal we had there. So definitely eat in, but do go.
google avatar

Yelp
Sweet deal. If you get the chicken to go, you get it much cheaper than if you sit down and eat it there - I suppose it's service fees that get added to the menu. To note: Restaurants in Portugal generally put a lot more salt in their dishes than what I am used to in California. If you're sensitive to salt, tell them "Poco sal" which means "little bit of salt", and they'll try best to accommodate your request (I mean, times like when the sauce is already made and cannot be diluted, they probably can't do much for you). Also: I like to eat the chicken with "Muito piri-piri" which means "a lot of the spicy sauce". Do keep in mind I love spicy food.

Yelp
I am in no means a fussy eater but I just couldn't get over how salty everything was! I ordered the portuguese steak with a fried egg and chips. It was swimming in oil and the the steak was chewy. Maybe it was due to my sensitive taste buds, but when my b/f echoed how salty his chicken was, it ended up being a bit of joke between us to see who could finish all of their meal! With regard to the chicken, it was far from the most succulent piece of chicken he had tasted. Maybe we caught them on a bad day, but I wouldn't go back in a hurry. In short, if you are looking for food at low prices you'll have the quality of food to match.

Yelp
The best grilled chicken! Their bacalhau a bras is good too! Indoor and outdoor seating options. Parking in front of vodafone next door if you're lucky!

Crissy L.

Yelp
Looove!!! The piri piri chicken and grilled seabass!! I went twice in one day! And 3 times in the week so addicting! When I first found the restaurant we would always get the garlic and olive oil chicken but earlier this week we ordered Togo and seen them brush on a sauce and we asked to have it that way! And so glad we did it's so good and spicy!

Yelp
I have had a traditional Portuguese steak with the fried egg and piri piri several times and this was my lease favorite of anytime. The steak was very difficult to chew. The potatoes were eh. The person I was with had the chicken and it was better than my meal but nothing that I would suggest or go out of my way for. The service was very good and I really enjoyed the cheeses and breads they put on the table but that doesn't make up for a below average meal. The traditional steak is sually amazing and I was very dissapointed. It is a nice restaurant with great patio seating where you can do some great people watching and it was just out of the way enough to not be really noisy and not full of tourists but apparently not far enough for the really good food!

Anastasia T.

Yelp
Delicious. This is hands down the best place to get frango in Cascais. And I have been going here for 10+ years. Order the whole piri piri chicken to go with extra piri piri sauce. Also when ordering to go order the potato chips since they stay nice and crispy whereas fries get super soggy. If you dont want to be totally piggy order a tomato salad-or make one yourself. Dont even bother ordering in the restaurant since service is crappy and you get a better deal for the chicken as takeout (you get a whole chicken for €8 as takeout which is what you pay for a half chicken and fries when eating at the restaurant). I have tried other things on the menu but they are nothing to write home about. But the chicken is crack-tastically delicious. If you eat at this place at the start of your vacation you will be back here many many times. In fact you might order some chicken to go to take it on the plane! Trust me-I have hooked many visitors on this place and they always ask when we can order the chicken again. Enjoy!

Jerome B.

Yelp
This is the best chicken grill around, on a consistent basis. Value for money and friendly service add to a delicious meal!

Yelp
By far the worst place to eat in cascais- we had a microwave supermarket lasagna and terrible pasta. might be alright for chicken piri piri but the rest was (sorry for the harsh words, I am just really upset) discusting!!!
