Jardín de Orquídeas Monteverde

This is not to be missed. This has been 40 plus years in the making. The tour is well worth it. Many Orchids only bloom for a short amount of time, allowing you to see rare and exotic species.

Regarding the reviews questioning the presence of orchids, our experience indicates otherwise. The tour guide highlighted numerous orchids, which, while small, were vibrant and present. Some exhibited pleasant fragrances, while others had a distinct metallic scent. The tour itself was both informative and engaging. We recommend this tour to individuals with an interest in floral displays.

Did this your first thing in the morning. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and we learned so many interesting facts. Unfortunately I do not remember his name he was a younger gentleman with blue hair. I couldn’t believe how small some of the orchids are. It was a nice slow paced walk with breaks to learn about the orchids. So many beautiful orchids!!

Definitely worth taking a tour. Our guide, Carmen I think was her name, was excellent, very knowledgeable and passionate about the orchids. The thing is, even if you don’t especially like flowers, the small orchids can be absolutely tiny 1-3 millimeters ( they loan you magnifying glasses) and the adaptations the different flowers have made to attract specific pollinators is pretty amazing. A bonus is the Agouti that run around the place.

This tour was so interesting, and I’m very glad I took it! I learned so much about orchids and plants local to the region from Andrés. I hope to be back again to see different orchids in bloom :)

A must-stop for any orchid fan, and probably still pretty cool for everyone else. Wonderfully grown native orchids, and a small central room containing some non-native species. Pretty small, you could easily walk through in a few minutes if you're not looking around, but take your time and you'll make endless discoveries.

Great spot walkable from town center. We did a walk in tour in English but the combined us with a Spanish couple so everything was repeated twice which lost the momentum. Guide knowledgeable and took care to explain everything. We saw two flowers that were one day only blooms, photos attached.

Highly recommend doing the guided tour (it’s included with ticket price) because there are lots of fascinating things to learn about orchids. If you have an interest in biology, the guides here are very knowledgeable and have a wealth of things to share. The garden itself has lots of beautiful and unique plants to look at, but highlight for me was all the very cool and interesting discoveries about orchids and how this group of plants evolved in so many ways.
