Jardins da Quinta das Lágrimas

Wonderful grounds, including a great arboretum. Delightful pool area. Old world charm inside the main building. Particularly helpful staff. Good food. Some signs of age / wear in the room we were in and a long wait for a G and T before dinner - but these are minor points. Would love to return

Gorgeous hotel and spa in the renovated palace of Dom Pedro. The gardens are magnifent and feature an amazing variety of trees from around the world. (Including a sierra redwood from the Duke of Wellington). The service is top notch as was the breakfast buffet. The rooms include older rooms in the palace and newer rooms in the spa/hotel addition. The pool is perfection! We highly recommend staying here.

A beautiful hotel with fantastic guest service. The grounds around the hotel are luxurious, with gardens and woods with paths to wander and explore. Individual examples of unique trees from around the world. We stayed in the contemporary wing. There are also rooms available in the historic portion of this former mansion. Located across the river from the old town of Coimbra, it has easy access (we used the Bolt rideshare app) to explore the town and the University of Coimbra.

It’s hard to even name it a tourist trap, because there is LITERALLY NOTHING to see except a big tree and fake ruins. I have no idea what is the reason for them to ask for 3€ entrance fee.

Last time we were here while exploring the town. A couple of our friends are visiting in Portugal so we are lucky to stay at this property! The place like to visit over and over again

We absolutely loved this place!! The small fee to get in, 2,50€, is definitely worth it. We loved the beautiful archway into the area where we saw the most amazing tree I've ever seen. The fountain/pond, and the amphitheater were so peaceful with birds singing and dancing in the sun. The history is sad and tragic but now it is so peaceful and serene. After resting in the joy of birdsong, shade and gentle breezes my husband and I hiked up to the top of the trails. The flowers were amazing up there. We DEFINITELY recommend a visit and will absolutely be returning.

This is a historic landmark with an ancient story behind. Some places feel mysterious and enchanted. Very beautiful and green garden, with huge trees. Some of the paths need maintenance and they can be very slippery during wet weather. There is an entry fee. It was worth the visit, a must see in Coimbra.

Wow, what a wonderful little gem. We were not sure whether to visit the Jardins da Quinta das Lagrimas but after having read the reviews we decided to visit and I am very happy we did. There is a small entrance fee but the whole site is really worth it in my opinion. You can walk around the wood and the bamboo forest was something I was not expecting. Definitely a relaxing environment and surroundings.For me, this is a recommendation if you are visiting Coimbra!
