Excellent service provided by a dedicated team. Food was great and the place was well maintained. Highly recommend it.

A must try. Best schnitzels I’ve yet to have, came with such a nice cucumber and potato salad. All entrees were great. The steak was also great just wish it came with more potatoes! The steak tartare was also amazing. Will be a regular that’s for sure :)

We visited Jamer’s Kitchen for a friend’s birthday, excited to try the famous chef’s food. The place looked great and we got seated quickly, but the waitress rushed us a bit to order drinks before we sat down. The appetizers were fantastic: the anchovy soldiers and arancini were great. However, the main course was a letdown. I ordered the veal schnitzel with traditional cucumber salad but got a plain lettuce salad instead, which wasn’t great. The schnitzel was good, but the gravy was watery and the salad was bland. There was also a mix-up with the orders. My friend who ordered a small bowl of chips waited 35-40 minutes he g asked the waitress after everyone got their food , only to receive a huge plate of chips good enough for the whole table, which was embarrassing and wasteful. The desserts, however, were a highlight. The seasonal fruit crumble and my friend’s apple and rhubarb crumble with vanilla bean ice cream were excellent and looked great too. They tasted delicious and proved the quality we expected. The open kitchen showed a very angry head chef yelling at the staff, which killed the mood for us. Overall, while the starters and desserts were delicious and the schnitzel was alright, we expected better quality and creativity from a famous chef on the mains. The service was rushed and the chef’s anger was a real mood killer. Left feeling a bit disappointed.

I recently dined at Jarmer’s Kitchen expecting a great experience due to its renowned reputation and famous chef. Unfortunately, my experience fell far short of expectations. I ordered the traditional Austrian schnitzel, which the menu indicated would be served with a traditional cucumber salad. However, it arrived with a leafy salad that none of us at the table enjoyed. Additionally, the service was disappointing. The waiters seemed rushed, made numerous errors in taking orders, and delivered them to the wrong people. The overall ambiance was uncomfortable, with the head chef visibly angry and yelling at the kitchen staff, creating a tense atmosphere. The toilets were not well-maintained, adding to the negative experience. While the schnitzel itself was decent, the inedible salad and dry chips, combined with poor service and an uneasy environment, led me to rate the overall plate and experience as less than average. I don't like to rate a business badly, but I really hope this review will help them to fix their mistakes and make the place great again.

We had dinner here. We ordered the chateaubriand. We were told it would take 40 mins so ordered a starter it came out whilst we were still having the starter, which wasn’t needed with such a quick main. This dish could feed four people easily. It’s delicious I would order again 😊

Yelp
These guys are doin' it right. From the Riedel glassware to the Robert Gordon handmade coffee cups & crockery. Tick! They make their own cakes (delicious looking continental vanilla slice .. aka snot blocks) which we shall try next time. We had coffees & breakky which were delicious. Fully licenced. There's a large round communal table and outdoor seating. Looks like it used to be an old pub. Table service was a big plus plus plus for Adeliade! A new fave! x

Yelp
I have been coming here for the last 2 years, Now for the review. Service has always been more then efficient, the whole restaurant is just on point. I love the atmosphere, the food for me is always just done perfect. Can say that you will not be disappointed with Jarmer's kitchen, if you are I'm sure there is room for improvement if you have any hassle.

Yelp
You know when you go to someone's home and they've gone to all this effort to slave over a hot stove for hours, set the dinner table and then they bring out a lamb roast and you forgot to tell them you were vegetarian? Enter Jarmer's Kitchen. Dress up or down, take away or dine in, Chris Jarmer has created a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the old Plant 13 with white walls, french chairs and lots of homely decorations. Staff are incredibly friendly and offer attentive table service even during a busy dinner service. The menu is non-vego friendly, seafood selection is limited and non-fried or roasted meals are a little hard to come by for the health conscious. We must have made pretty poor meal decisions as after ordering the potato langos, duck croquettes, arancini, olives and a mushroom gnocchi I rolled out feeling heavy and greasy. All meals were very oily and the only dish that benefited were the warmed olives. So for the woman who walks in watching their waistline, preferring to eat seafood and get plenty of 2 and 5 in their meal, you might want to accept a different dinner invitation. If you know what you're getting in for and are cool paying a price for a gourmet pub meal then this isn't a bad spot for a pre-show meal or Sunday brunch.

Yelp
Cute place. Very white "French chic" type picnic furniture while surrounded by even whiter tiles! Ordered at the counter so very little "service" experienced. The Cake & Dessert Cabinet was chocked full with so many tasty looking options. Coffee was great - not too hot or cold. There seemed to be a lot of staff on shift doing very little both front of house and in the open kitchen. A couple of the staff seemed to be planning out that nights reservations, the staffing roster or similar on a near by table which gave us a bit of an uncomfortable "staff room" type vibe but we did visit during a non peak service period, so the atmosphere was lacking. Fresh herbs growing on their windowsills which is a nice touch.

Yelp
Jarmers Kitchen has the potential to be fantastic. However, after two visits for breakfast, have been slightly underwhelmed on each occasion. The coffee and vibe are perfect, however the meals ordered, which included Waffles, Eggs Benedict, Avocado and Eggs, and Mushrooms on Toast were okay on the whole, but all felt could have been more generous for the price. Really want to love this place, but need to see a little more generosity and care on the plate first.

Yelp
Much like Chloe's review, I was disappointed when I looked at the menu. Everything about this place screams that it caters for all but if you're vegetarian or vegan (like me) you're going to have a bad time. The decor itself is very chalkboards-and-minimalism. I think you know what I mean! I went for breakfast on a foggy Saturday morning and we were the first people there in an empty restaurant (aside from staff). I had been looking forward to this place for quite some time as I frequently drive past. Always looks busy and figured there must be something there worthwhile. I looked through the menu and to my horror, nothing vegan! Usually it's really quite easy to make a vegetarian dish vegan but I had one choice. The grilled mushrooms with goats curd on sourdough. "I'd like the grilled mushrooms without the goats curd but with tomatoes" and they gracefully fulfilled my request. I didn't check my bill but I imagine it was $2 extra for tomatoes and I doubt they balanced it out with my removal of curd. I neglected to ask for the mushrooms to not be cooked in butter or anything of the sort but thankfully, they weren't. (Hopefully!) All in all, a nice experience with good coffee and when I are the food, it was very nice. Just disappointed to not find any more veg options unfortunately. Probably won't hurry back - bit of an awkward spot to get out of with the roads around the place.

Yelp
Wonderful food all day long. I'm normally a brunch fanatic, but I actually prefer Jarmers dinner selections. It's varied enough for choice but not too much so that they do everything really well. Great selection of mains, sides, cakes, and wines. Chilled vibe with great service. Definitely recommend to book ahead though.

Yelp
I've been wanting to go to jarmers kitchen since it opened. It's very close to home and from the pictures the decor is my scene. So today we went for brunch. It was packed and we didn't have a booking but luckily a table became free just as we got there. As I expected the decor is great, white chairs timber tables, very chic. The service was quick even though it was busy. We ordered coffee and breakfast and they gave us the wrong coffees (my bf got mine and I got his) which isn't a big deal but the coffees were also luke warm, and I like my coffee hot so this was disappointing. I ordered waffles and my bf ordered the Portuguese eggs which we shared. Both dishes were nice but mine was a bit sweet and his very garlicky. Overall great service and atmosphere but food and drinks just ok. I would have given 3.5stars if I could.

Yelp
Met a group here for a Saturday morning brunch. I was first to arrive and obeyed the sign at the entrance instructing me to wait to be seated. This placed me square in front of the main door so after a few minutes of being in the way, I squeezed down to the front counter to get some further instruction. My initial impression during this time was that the front room was cramped and noisy but I was pleased when our group booking took me around the corner into a semi private space, nicely air conditioned and spacious. The rest of the group arrived intermittently, service was kind of sporadic and random but eventually we were all served drinks and then later food, which was nice and on the pricey side. I had the pancakes and they were very nice. When it came to pay, we were told no separate accounts but since we all had cards and it was super hot and nobody was going to be walking around looking for ATMs, they did allow us to pay separately which was most welcome. Again, it was pretty squeezy against the counter, suggest a redesign in the future to combat this. The venue is - as one other reviewer put it - "Pinterest come to life" and very Instagrammable.

Yelp
Have walked past here a few times thinking , must go in . Was busy , got a seat but decided we were not all that hungry... decided on coffee , green juice and vanilla slice. Not much to say about just a couple of samples , but them slices were magnificent .! Drinks were great . Will hurry back for further examination .

Yelp
I feel like the menu must have changed since both Grace and Chloe dined, as my experience was a bit different to theirs. I found a menu that had five or so really interesting salads on it - most of them vego. We dined in a rather large group, and many pre-orderd and the staff were incredibly helpful with trying to sort out our hectic bunch. Meals came out at a good pace and from what I could gather, the feedback was pretty positive! I ordered a haloumi salad (and I'm not really a salad fan) and was super impressed! It was delish - the haloumi perfectly cooked and great flavours all the way through. As the venue began to get busy, the noise levels became rather...well...noisy, so maybe not great for groups? Otherwise, pretty decent!

Yelp
At 11.45am and no booking on a Saturday morning, well they managed to seat me down but my table is booked for 12.30pm. No time to linger and no all day breakfast?! The closest dish I can select as 'breakfast' would be the the potato langos, a Hungarian fried flat bread with smoked salmon, dill and sour cream, and more importantly the coffee came promptly soon after the order. Well done, I needed the coffee then more than food. The U shaped bench at one end of the dining room all painted white and the white tiled walls up to the ceiling gave the dining room the 'clean' look at that end of elongated dining room. There are the usual dining tables near the entrance and to the other side of the dining room near the cakes cabinet. Jars of preserved lemons and pickles on the shelf just above the big servery of the open kitchen gave that homely look to the restaurant. I was told the langos are light even though they are fried and worth the try. Unfortunately I find they are a tad greasy and some of the batter did not quite cooked through. Disappointing really but there were plenty of sour cream and dill to drown the grease. They were 'light' as told. Couldn't resist the temptation of a burger and asked if I could have that to take away. The attentive cheerful waitress promptly advised that everything on the menu can be packaged to take away, nice to know! The burger was sumptuous with thick lean juicy beef patty with just slices of pickles, relish, a leaf of lettuce and few strands of fried onions in a nice soft bun. Perfect to my liking. Not much carb but plenty of protein! The relish had a hint of spice, went well but would have liked another lettuce leaf. Chris Jarmer seems to do better here in Bowden than in DJ? The clientele is definitely different and with the up and coming development in the precinct, this is all about location location! Being right on a busy thoroughfare, and plenty of parking on Park Terrace, I would say there may be few drop ins for some quick take aways during the course of the day? The outer Bowden residents are now flocking to this popular restaurant, what will happen once the development is complete? It must be a big draw card for the sales of the development having this casual dining place right in the thick of it.

Yelp
Posh nosh that you wouldn't expect in a suburb that was, up until recently, notoriously neglected. This place looks like pinterest personified (which is a great thing). Not being used to cuisine we found the menu pretty different which can be a really good thing. Definetly caters to the 'new' Bowden with most of the patrons being upper class businessmen, mums who lunch and wealthy retirees who I am so very jealous of (hanging for my days of doing coffee on my superannuation) but I digress... We shared a couple of meals to expand our gastronomic horizons. I had the poached pear, advocado and walnut salad with turkey which my partner nicked since there werent many vego options that tickled my fancy (lucky I can always palm it off) and he grabbed a plain burger. The dish was a bit of a weird suprise as I expected it all mixed but the turkey was in a mashed tower and whoa whoa whoa they need to hide the oil from the chef because it was swimming. The taste was prettttty out there but overall it worked so marks for creativity! My partner found the burger was okay but sometimes less isn't more and the quality just didn't speak as loudly as a cheap and grotty but tasty counterpart from a greasy diner. The main bummer was the cost, coffees especially set us back more than expected which was a pity since the vibe is very shabby chic and homestyle but the cuisine I would say is high end with matching markup. Since everything is so locally sourced and organic your wallet and conscience will both be pretty empty by the time you pay the bill haha. Great look to the place, heaps of space so you'll never be stuck tableless and the staff were absolutely wonderful! They were cheerful and great to chat to so this place is doing something right! Honestly this just wasn't our jam but to those with a bit of spare mullah who love the high quality and clean things in life you'll make this place your local. For us though it's back to finding filthy and fabulous low end cuisine haha.

Yelp
We have been regulars at Jarmers for a couple of years as we live close by, and it never disappoints. Food is always delicious and the service is friendly and welcoming. It's good for a date night. Everything is fresh and local, great wine list and lots of specials. It's also child and family friendly which is a huge bonus for us for the occasions we want to go out for a family meal. Jarmers provide a colouring in sheet and pencils and once even provided a cookie dough they could decorate with smarties which was then baked in the kitchen (they loved it!).

Yelp
Sat outside for 20 minutes. Had to walk inside and ask to be served. Waited another 15 minutes and still hadn't been served so we left. Horrendous service and it wasn't even busy

Yelp
Like reviewers before me, I wanted to like this place. Upon walking in the door we stood at the sign telling us to wait to be seated. When we were approached we asked for a table and were pointed to a table "up there" before the waiter walked away. It wasn't overly busy for before 9am, yet we began to wonder if we needed to order at the bar because no one had come to see us. Eventually someone did and without any "sorry to keep you waiting", we were asked "what do you want". We ordered our (pricey) breakfasts and coffee which neither took too long to come out which was nice. Admittedly I am a bit of a coffee snob, and the coffee I had here was so hot I had to wait for it to cool before drinking, and because of this it wasn't the best tasting. The breakfast was nice, but small portion size for the price and nothing I couldn't have made at home. Unfortunately I don't think we will revisit!

Yelp
Came before dinner service was available, staff served us drinks and told us orders will be taken at 5 o'clock. Came out at exactly 5. Staff was extremely friendly no sign of frustration to any queries we had. Recommendations were provided. Didn't have to wait long for the food. Food was exquisite, staff asked if we needed anything else. Been here twice now and love it, usually wouldn't give a 5/5 but there was nothing that didn't please me. Service: Excellent Food: Excellent Location and parking: Excellent Price: $$$ good price for good food Cleanliness: Excellent Atmosphere/Ambiance: Excellent

Yelp
First time here, and must say that I was impressed. A nice industrial look and welcoming ambience that compliments the look and feel of Bowden. Staff were friendly and attentive, always made sure we didn't wait too long to be looked after. The food was great; fresh and very tasty. If you're looking for a casual, welcoming eatery that focuses on great food and customer service I'd highly recommend Jarmer's.

Yelp
I was a little unsure about this place from the outside but when we sat down I was impressed by the decor and vibe of the place. I ordered a vegetable juice and a Thai beef salad ( without dressing) and my husband ordered the lamb cutlets. My salad was exceptional, light, healthy and HUGE. My husbands meal was beautiful. We were both very impressed and will be back to try their other menu options.

Bevvy C.

Yelp
Thank goodness for the great company of friends as my meal was a complete disappointment. Not a single vegan option on the menu (and this is how many years later from previous comments about the same thing?)The kitchen said that they could veganise a few of the dishes on the menu. What they meant was they would simply remove anything that wasn't vegan and I was charged the full price of the original meal. I can't believe I paid $24 for an entree size bowl of the gnocchi with overcooked oily peas and tiny bits of pumpkin even though the actual gnocchi was good! It is surprising to see the menu doesn't even state whether particular meals are gluten-free, vegetarian or have vegan options available. Overall, the service was pretty good and the coffee was to my liking, though not for my friend who politely sent hers back. I won't be going back. Clearly, they have no interest in feeding anyone with an alternative diet choice.

Flo G.

Yelp
The service is terrible. The food is over over over priced. The servings are tiny. The flavours are lackluster. The toast was burnt. There is nothing exciting, inspiring or even worthwhile on this menu. A total waste of a prime location.

Peter H.

Yelp
Food was nice but the service was terrible. No manners or customer service at all. Good luck in keeping a good customer base with that quality of service. I think the only word I got from staff was - pay wave? Never again

Yelp
high quality tapas, and larger meals too, friendly and fun service, really fresh vibe, I have been here twice for lunch now, absolutely love their gnocchi.
