Fantastic breakfast. Ordered the strawberry crumpets that came with two large pieces of bacon. Very good and highly recommended. My friend ordered scrambled eggs on a sourdough rye, which was also good. Though I would recommend the crumpets because they were perfect. Service was fast and friendly.

This was my second visit, and both times I haven’t been disappointed. Interior and environment: The place is a bit small, no tables inside Tables are outside, with bench seats. A bit comfy seats, clean tables. Staff and service: staff are super friendly, and helpful. Service will depend on customers if it’s a busy day ( weekends ), it’s a bit slower; but still considered good. Food : Usually breakfast till 12pm, except on all-day-breakfast Saturdays. menu was a bit different in each time. I went for EggSlutt, delicious soft egg with tasty sriracha mayo although the brioche roll was a bit dry for me. Asked for plain croissant on the side it was amazing, crunchy outside, soft and buttery inside. Eggs scrambled and fried was presented as ordered, fluffy and soft with their amazing croissants. Coffee was good too. Prices : are acceptable for the quality they offer in their meals. Overall, an amazing place to start your day, excellent environment, delicious food, and reasonable prices.

We are breakfast there , and were underwhelmed . It’s very highly rated for its baked goods and coffees and next time we would stick to that only . Green pancakes costed R70 and the portion size was tiny . Two pancakes and over salted. The eggs in the sakshuka were over cooked . They are usually meant to be soft and runny so they can be mixed into the sauce.

My never ending quest for croissants, led me to another bakery - Jason's Bakery. Although I was familiar with the bakery through its active Instagram account, I still had to plan for my trip to the bakery. I opted for outdoor seating because the inside was not that impressive, it looked great but it lacked 'defining features'. The menu was quite pricy (for a student) but it was a bakery in busy Bree Street, so it was affordable to an extent. We ordered breakfast and coffees. My breakfast bread was a croissant that seemed a bit burnt: it was dry and hard , not light, buttery and flaky. And the eggs were like rubber. Overall, I did not enjoy my meal. The upside was that our waitress was a darling - very smily and attentive. I'm hoping my experience was a once off at the bakery, but I'm almost too scared to go back. What I loved about the bakery is its emphasis on homemade and loving baked goods, but it felt like I was given average food at best. When it comes to Jason's Bakery, expect to be surprised: you never know what you'll be served...

Had my first red espresso flat white. So delicious! Must get here early for chocolate croissants. Fast service!

We just had to visit Jason's after following them for so long on Instagram. And we weren't disappointed. Not only was the coffee excellent, a double shot flat white, but the scrambled eggs and thick bacon was outstanding. Service with a smile. Highly recommended.
