Google
This is their main location (connected to Shipwreck boutique + Juicing Co. in the back), and it’s such a cute little hub! The staff was so friendly, there’s inside and outside seating options, and my espresso was smooth and delicious. Perfect spot to grab a coffee and then wander through the other shops on Kilauea Rd. Highly recommend!

Google
We had all different items & each was delicious. Tried the power bowl with homemade pimento cheese, was delicious. The scrambled egg & potato & cheese burrito, was delicious but I should have added bacon. Got the chili salsa on the side, more tomato taste than chili. We also got the Nicisoe salad with marlin was fabulous. Over all we had a good time. Went back a few days later. Some of us got the same thing & others tried new items off the menu. Was delicious & we greatly enjoy our time at this establishment. We opted to sit outside, because it's so much cooler than eating inside. Beware the chickens, some can be a bit aggressive trying to hop in your lap for food. Overall was a good time, great company, great food & beautiful environment.

Google
Simply the best. The staff is always so friendly. As someone who wakes up at 4am consistently for work and goes here quite frequently for a morning pick me up, anytime I come in to grab an early coffee at 6am, I am greeted with a smile. The coffee and the food is excellent, the consistency in making the food taste exactly the same each time should not be overlooked. Exceptional. I appreciate how kind each employee is and how great the food and coffee always tastes. Kudos to this establishment.

Google
Great coffee. One of the best I’ve had! I got the macadamia nut iced coffee and what an absolute delight that was!!! The macadamia was not overpowering but just nutty enough. The coffee was so smooth and strong. My husband got the pink cloud strawberry matcha and that was very refreshing too. We also got their breakfast burrito and it was made fresh and hot… very filling and satisfying. Your trip to Kauai isn’t complete if you don’t visit this coffee shop!!!

Google
Perhaps the best hand crafted artisan coffee in Kauai. This store is part of the Java Kai coffee roaster group but in a less populated place compared to other store locations. Tables are always tables available, both in door and out door. They really know how to bring out the aroma from their Salvador coffee farmer.

Google
Nice coffee shop! Recommend the matcha but not aloha bar. Surfer girl sandwich 10/10. Friendly environment and located next to cute shops.

Google
The coffee “Cortado” was super delicious. Acai bowl incredible also and the portions are pretty big

Tejas

Google
Great coffee spot with an impressive selection of drinks and food. Their bagel sandwiches are ridiculously good — we had the Surfer Girl sandwich and it was finger-licking delicious! The açaí bowl was also super refreshing. Definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
I think I came to one of the best coffee joints on the island! We stopped here before a long day, and we got charged up! Walking into the place, it's a high-ceiling, standard coffee bar cafe with a kitchen in the back. We ordered a cold-brew, a mac nut latte, a Portuguese sausage breakfast burrito, and a Portuguese sausage breakfast sandwich. First of all, the coffee was super solid. Probably a medium espresso roast which did really well with milk as well as the mac nut syrup I ordered. A sweet drink that was easy to drink and even easier to enjoy. Great way to taste some local coffee, I'd say. The cold brew was lighter, and generally super refreshing too. No complaints there! Best part though, was for sure the food. Maybe we were just hungry, but wow, did these hit! The breakfast burrito was a good size, with large chunks of potato and good ratio of egg and meat. Along with the salsa and some hot sauce, we were happy campers. The star of the show was the breakfast sandwich. Soft buttery bread, fluffy eggs, and this incredible homemade Portuguese sausage. It was such a good sandwich. If you don't know what to get, this is it! Yummy tasty awesome delicious!
google avatar

Summer S.

Yelp
My best friend and I stopped in for a quick bite and coffee and enjoyed everything. We shared the Portuguese sausage sandwich. The smokey romesco was a great touch. We had an iced Mac nut latte and a dirty iced chai. Both were super good. You could tell they were going to be good just by the color! 10/10 recommend Kai Bar and Java Kai next time you are looking for a good coffee spot!

Yelp
always love our drinks here! Customer service could be a little more intentional but we can only Imagine what it's like to deal with tourists on a daily basis. We just value excellent customer service and always try to be kind. Overall the crew seems to enjoy each other and have a good time at work :) Food is delish! Highly recommend it and the kitchen is speedy. Can get busy with people working on laptops but it's still a nice place to hang inside or outside.

Yelp
My favorite cafe of all cafes Ive ever been to. They have the best menu with so many food and drink options you can't go wrong with. During the fall they have a speciality drink menu and I tried their iced rise of the chai which is pumpkin spiced chai with espresso. It's absolutely delicious. Their iced matcha is also tasty (I added their banana breeze syrup). The lava glow smoothie is A1. If you want a savory sandwich get their housemade portuguese sausage and egg sando, it's yummy!! Always great service here and plenty of seating inside and out.

Yelp
Weird place. We came by, took the menu and once we were ready to order, cashier told us that today they have limited menu only. But she saw that we took full menu right in front of her. Why she didn't say anything? Then she gave us number and said that they will bring food to us. They did, but not the coffee (she didn't say anything about it). Guy who brought food said that coffee is at the corner and he will bring it, but he didn't. As for the food, I didn't expect pesto to be white, but that's fine. It was too much anyway for the toast - too fatty.

Yelp
Impressive menu. Unimpressive service and espresso. Looking forward to try the original location. What we got: I got a small iced shark bite and my bf got a breakfast burrito with sausage for $31.51. Even for Kauai, that is an extremely steep price tag for such mediocre - at best - quality. I had quite high expectations since there are multiple locations on the island, but the espresso was so under extracted & the raspberry syrup didn't help the sourness. The burritos had great flavor, but it was soaking in oil that the tortilla had partially fallen apart. We turned the burrito into a bowl, but for 20 something odd dollars...mm..yikes. Atmosphere: Beautiful. Extremely roomy and tastefully designed. Service: It took them longer to make my coffee than a whole burrito. Burrito took about 10-12 minutes which is understandable. However, my latte took nearly 20 whole minutes? There was only one couple who ordered before us and four girls working behind the counter/coffee bar. Four girls - no smiles or greeting by the way.

Yelp
WOW, went to this place 2x on our trip and ordered the same thing both times (it was that good). will definitely be going here on my next trip to the island

Yelp
Fantastic kalua pork sandwich! Surprisingly spicy but totally in a good way. Comes with a nice side salad of fresh mixed greens. I would happily have this again . . .
google avatar

Audrey L.

Yelp
I stopped in here for a little coffee pick-me-up in the afternoon. It was so cute inside and they didn't have a line so I was able to order right away. I decided to get an iced chai latte and it was good! The space was calm and the staff were friendly.

Yelp
This was our first visit to Kai Bar in Kilauea after having been to the Java Kai and Kai Bar location in Kapa'a on this trip and our previous one in 2016. We loved our experience enough to come here from our condo in Princeville a total of three times, which happened to fill up our punchcard just like our visit in 2016 in Kapa'a. :) The coffee is great, but if you want food, go for the Surfer Girl sandwich, just like just about everyone says. It is likely the best breakfast sandwich I have ever had in my life, and I don't say things like that lightly. So tasty. We used our completed punchcard on one of the expensive smoothies, and we loved it. The service is friendly, and they have a light, bright environment. There's a sufficient number of tables inside and out. If you sit outside, they helpfully provide water squirt bottles so that you can use them to shoo the sometimes aggressive feral chickens away from your table. (We didn't have as much trouble with them here as we did at a restaurant across the street that doesn't have squirt bottles, so perhaps the chickens have learned where they can go and not get "shot." Ha!) Kai Bar isn't cheap (and neither are very many other coffeehouses), but as we can attest, they are worth the visit.

Yelp
Delicious! We weren't planning to go back, but we did. I got the Mac nut latte, I liked it, but my husband got the coconut mocha and I liked that even more which is why we had to go back! Cool interior and friendly baristas. It can take a little while, but they do warn you with a sign on the door. It's worth the wait!

Yelp
Of the 3 breakfasts I've had so far this week, this place has been the best. As with anything else on this island breakfast was $50. Best option on the North side when everywhere else is $50 too. Service was friendly. Expect food to take a minute if you order a sandwich or burrito. Bakery items looked delicious. Music could be turned down slightly. With the loud people and hard floors and vaulted ceiling it was loud. Sit outside at the tables if you want chill.
google avatar

Karen S.

Yelp
Great coffee, great breakfast. We sat outside, but they also have tables inside. The place was crowded mid morning. I had the surfer girl sandwich. Scrambled egg, spinach, cheese and bacon jam. So yummy! My husband had the breakfast burrito with Portuguese sausage. He said it's the best thing he has eaten since we've been on the island.

Yelp
This place is a vibe! Love the location in Kilauea. We had: 1. Surfer blend coffee- delicious 2. açaí bowl - nice portion, good not great. (I like The Spot's signature açaí better.) 4. Croi-Sean-Wich - delicious Would definitely return & highly recommend. Note: There are a lot of roosters who will jump on your food if you walk away from it - if you forgot a napkin or water for example. Make sure you don't leave your food unattended.

Yelp
10/25/24 So far the best tasting Matcha Latte-rich & earthy, the way it's meant to be I was surprised to know that they have "Cappy Hour" so i decided to try their matcha. It's one of those types of drinks that a shop could either make well or just altogether miss. Additionally, it's served on a porcelain mug--was looking forward to that so I may savor the wonderful beverage. I can proudly announce that Kai Bar delivered!! Somehow when it is served in a proper vessel, it just gives it that extra Oomph. I sipped & savored it & let the flavor wash over me like a comforting embrace. Aahhh, yes! Full-bodied, earthy, wholesome goodness! It definitely hit the spot. The staff are wonderful & welcoming, the ambiance/vibe is nice. It is modern & equipped with wooden chairs & tables indoors. Outdoor seating, white, metal. Restrooms are located outside on each side of the shop, clean. This is one of the coffee shops I love visiting while in Kilauea. Maybe one of these days I will try other menu items-beverage & food, please see posted menu photos.

Yelp
It's a cute cafe nestled in the heart of north Kauai. It's a perfect spot for a coffee pit stop. I got the surfer girl bagel, my husband got the breakfast burrito. I also got the moon flower smoothie. Our drinks came soon but food took 45 mins to arrive. Order and go here for the food only if you have the time to wait. Usually on vacation people are on schedule for activities.

Yelp
Sitting at Java Kai sipping on coffee while joining the scenery is always a great idea when in town. Service is fast, friendly and menu has a variety of options, as well as food.

Yelp
Best coffee shop we tried during our time in Hawaii. We came for breakfast around 8am. There were some people but the employees were very efficient. The line moved quickly, drinks arrived shortly, and plenty of seating. Our food was delivered to the table quickly as well. There is a huge variety of drinks on the menu, and all our drinks (iced Mac nut latte with oat milk, iced Maui mocha) were amazing. Food was yummy as well, with a good collection of hot sauces available in the self service area. We got the breakfast burrito with Portuguese sausage (taste similar to chorizo), and a croissant sandwich.

Debbie C.

Yelp
Ahh Java Kai. You missed the mark on my chai tea latte this morning. It tasted like a glass of milk. No chai tea or spice flavor. Disappointed. I used to get chai teas from you all the time in Hanalei years ago. Then you closed that location. Sad. But went to the one in Kapaa. Always good. My partner got your Vanilla latte which was good. So you scored on that. Service was friendly and good
google avatar

Yelp
Java Kai Bar Coffee Roasters offers tasty coffee and bakery items. There is ample interior and exterior seating with small round tables. Our group shared a few bakery delights, general feedback was mixed. The cinnamon bun lacked cinnamon and it was very dry/hard. The black drip coffee was so hot it burnt my sister-in-laws mouth. I enjoyed the muffin I shared with my spouse, my experience was better than others. Overall contemporary decor was good, service staff pleasant and drinks came up quickly.
google avatar

Mariya S.

Yelp
That is THE SPOT for your aesthetic breakfast on the island. Delicious coffee, perfect breakfast bites! Loved my açaí bowl! Great customer service, I truly enjoyed my experience over there
google avatar

Margaux C.

Yelp
Best smoothie on Kauai I'd say! I got the tropical haze. Expensive but worth it! Topped with coconut foam/cream and dusting lihing muy. The smoothie had a wonderful taste of the tropics. Not too sweet either and no stupid apple juice added to it! I could really make out the guava taste and it had a nice tart undertone thanks to the strawberry and pineapple inside! And beautiful presentation

Yelp
Kai Bar is the best spot for tourists and locals set in Kilauea. Amazing vibe with a great selection of pastries. Their coffee menu is the perfect mix of Hawaii and traditional. Great parking with an amazing staff.

John M.

Yelp
Always incredibly friendly staff who welcome everyone, locals and visitors with patience and positivity. Have been a customer for many years and can't say enough positive things about staff and their great food. #1 on island for breakfast, coffee, up there for lunch
google avatar

Leslie T.

Yelp
Good coffee (and iced matcha lattes) and good food. There are also coffee beans and merch (e.g. tee shirts, insulated mugs) for sale. The environment is good for having a quick breakfast, catching up with friends over coffee, and working (they provide free wifi). Service is also very friendly. We didn't try the baked goods featured in the case, but they looked very good.
google avatar

Winston S.

Yelp
The cashier is friendly and helpful at this location. I asked her to make the mac nut latte sweeter and with more flavor. It hit the spot! The Portuguese sausage & egg sandwich was awesome! So ono! Way more space and less crowded than Kapa'a.
google avatar

Lucy G.

Yelp
Place is super cute inside, food was great, coffee was amazing as well. Food came out fairly fast, hot and delicious! I'd definitely recommend you stopping here at least once. They have tables outside, we enjoyed our breakfast outside in the beautiful Hawaiian weather.
google avatar

Andrea W.

Yelp
Very popular place to go on a Saturday morning! Cute decor. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Same owners as Kapaa Java Kai. We got coffee here, didn't try the food. 1 order taker, 1 barista making all the coffees. Can take awhile to get your coffee as it's only 1 girl. She working hard!
google avatar

Alyssa R.

Yelp
Came here 4 out of 6 mornings on our trip for my favorite coffee on the island. The best iced latte combo is coconut syrup and Mac nut syrup, trust me! The surfer girl sandwich and breakfast burrito I would highly recommend, but skip the Portuguese sausage sandwich.

Taylor A.

Yelp
Super expensive, always a line, alright coffee, pastries are hit or miss, service is always on point though. There are better spots to hit up for your espresso fix. Lots of local joints slinging kick ass coffee without a killer line. But, if you have the time and need a decent cuppa, then I'd recommend solely on the service alone. The staff is super cool and will set you up regardless of your finicky coffee orders.
google avatar

Stacy S.

Yelp
This was my go-to coffee shop when I was staying on Kauai. One of the benefits was the fact that they open at 6:00 am which makes it real convenient for the early birds like me! Most coffee shops don't open until 8:00 am on this island! My favorite drink was their mac nut latte. It had just enough fuel to get me through the morning without giving me a major crash later on. It's creamy and super delish! I also tried their cinnamon roll, which I really enjoyed because it didn't have all that gooey frosting on it. In addition to pastries, they also offer breakfast and lunch items, and they also sell some cool merch! Service is attentive and full of aloha! Don't hesitate to stop by for your morning pick-me-up!
google avatar

Melinda E.

Yelp
Everything was good! Can't say anything bad about it. Service was a bit slow, but atmosphere was great. But food was coming out as it was being made. Go and enjoy a matcha drink or the lil green alien. It was all yummy!
google avatar

Valerie R.

Yelp
Workers were so nice. Place was cozy. Food was so good I devoured my burrito (so did my boyfriend). BEST MATCHA I HAVE EVER HAD!! (Add the raspberry syrup!!!!!!) Thank you!
google avatar

Kalani R.

Yelp
Haven't been to Java Kai or the Kai bar in years. Yesterday I needed something to eat so I figured I'd stop by while in Kilauea. Sorry I did. $16 for a burrito and to add meat it was extra. Total was $21 for what I thought would be at least filling and tasty, nope I was wrong. It was like a half burrito cut in half and dry as ever. Never will be going back. Quality went downhill I guess to make up for making their locations trendy. There's a lot of other small coffee trucks/ locations that are way better in coffee and food.
google avatar

Shannon W.

Yelp
Couldn't find a place to grab a late breakfast one morning and stumbled onto Kai Bar, so glad we did! I had the burrito that I added bacon and avocado to and it was probably the best breakfast burrito I've ever had . My husband had the seasonal waffle covered in mango, bananas, coconut and fresh whipped cream. We ended up splitting both of ours in half and sharing because we were so jealous of each others food. I had the coconut mocha latte and he had the macadamia nut latte. Perfection all the way. 10/10 did NOT disappoint. They had great music playing quietly inside and cute little patio outside with lots of seating and the service was super friendly and very quick delivery of food considering how busy and popular the place is. Definitely recommend!
google avatar

Micah W.

Yelp
Excellent food & coffee! Service and ambiance were great. I recommend the breakfast burrito and the Maui mocha iced coffee

Monica W.

Yelp
When u call in breakfast, but it turns into lunch. High quality facility, low quality food ,but, its in fancy packaging
google avatar

Megan H.

Yelp
Great coffee shop! Has a wide variety of food and drinks. Wifi is super fast and lots of seating. I had the dilly egg and it was super fresh. The shakshuka was okay. The tomato and feta sauce was sweet and tasted great but the sourdough was too doughy for me. They also had Vietnamese coconut coffee - which I haven't seen made outside of Vietnam. Yum!
google avatar

Lynn R.

Yelp
Very good mocha! My daughter had a strawberry matcha and liked it. My son had the açaí bowl and liked it. Definitely would go back. Employees were nice. Place is cute and busy.
google avatar

Mia V.

Yelp
I love Kai Bar!! The staff was wonderful, and my drink was delicious. I can't wait to go back next time I visit Kauai!
google avatar

Shiela T.

Yelp
Great quality coffee bursting with my favorite flavor - macadamia nut. A staple for whenever I visit the islands! Nothing says 'I'm on a hawaiian vacation like a Macadamia nut latte!' They offer a variety of blends suited for your preference and each is a well crafted cup of coffee. They are never Inconsistent. My only gripe is that the pastries are a bit overpriced; but I come here mainly for the drinks so no need to listen to me. Lol. Check them out! You won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Yelp
Kai Bar Coffee Roasters is a cute air-conditioned coffee shop in Kilauea located in a center with its own free parking lot. It is large and some patrons were working on their laptops inside. Their CORTADO KAI was awesome! They used condensed milk instead of regular milk so the cortado was sweet. Awesome! Their AVOCADO Toast is probably one of the best I've had. They didn't just slice the avocado, they mashed it like guacamole so that whatever seasoning and flavors they added blended well with the avocado. The LATTE was good. Coffee was strong and acid was balanced out by the milk.
google avatar

Mariana D.

Yelp
Quick brekkie spot in the early AM LOCATION: Small corporate strip mall Free parking of course RECS - Cortado with sweet condensed milk was on point - enjoyed their fresh lime juice Breakfast items - I'm a Cali girl so Avo toast all the way with sprouts eggs and bacon (half order was $9) - the pulled pork breakfast burrito with salsa verde was on point Enjoy : The air conditioning and random a$$ chickens walking around outside The dislike : Welp- I'm an itinerary city girl so it's taking time to get accustomed to island tempo . It took hella long (30min) for simple Avo toast and very long for the coffee - also like no one wears masks out here
google avatar

Audrey C.

Yelp
Was craving something sweet after lunch and decided to get an acai bowl from here. It was one of the best acai bowls I've had! It's not overly sweet and all the ingredients tasted fresh. They gave a perfect amount of each ingredient so each bite was the same. Their coffees sound really good and would love to come back here for that as well as their food. Staff here are really friendly and patient in answering questions. There's also a few tables to sit inside and outside as well.
google avatar

Wolfram G.

Yelp
Great coffee selection, solid vibes, hot sauce options, clean, good location... AND the best breakfast burrito imaginable -- delicate, toasty, light tortilla - amazing sauce and definitely add the Portuguese sausage -- it's enough for two!!
google avatar

Cheryl C.

Yelp
Nice menu and great coffee. Delicious tropical waffles but they changed the toppings. For $17 you should get a few fresh berries instead of the fruit compote on top. They need to do something about the fly problem inside
google avatar

Jimmy S.

Yelp
Not better place for coffee or food in Kauai. Rarely do you find a place that does EVERYTHING well. From the delicious coffee (Mac Nut Latte) to the warm service and an ambiance that is incredibly inviting. Can't say enough about this spot.
google avatar

Brian M.

Yelp
Great vibe with friendly service makes this a good spot for morning coffee or even early afternoon ice coffee. We have been to the Kapaa location many times and this is a different vibe. Nice new A/C keeps you cool as you enjoy your drink. We opted for the Maui Mocha and the Mac Nut Latte. The Mac Nut Latte is the standout. It had terrific flavor and felt like you were drinking something tropical. Will be back.
google avatar

Mark B.

Yelp
Just a short drive from Princeville and well worth it! You cannot go wrong here. They have some really good pastries and excellent coffees and machas. Service was friendly and pretty quick. There's plenty of seating inside and out.
