We had a 4 day family visit and all thought what a wonderfully historic and elegant place to stay. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Everything we needed was provided and having a daily swim in the pool was a wonderful extra.

The architecture is a breathtaking fusion of Malay, Indian, and Chinese influences, characterized by intricate tilework, soaring high ceilings, and rich, dark timber. Every corner, every column, and every piece of furniture tells a story of the Jawi Peranakan heritage. We spent hours simply exploring the common areas, admiring the inner courtyards and the way the tropical sunlight filters through the upper windows—it truly felt like living within a museum, yet with all the comforts of home. ​Our dwelling for the trip was Room 6, and it was perfect. The spaciousness was a welcome surprise, and the large windows offered a lovely glimpse of George Town's charming streetscape without sacrificing peace and quiet. All the essentials worked flawlessly; the air conditioning was crisp, the hot water was immediate, and the period-appropriate yet functional amenities ensured a comfortable stay. ​What elevates the Jawi Peranakan Mansion from great to legendary, however, is the staff, particularly the wonderful Ms. Priya. She is a gem! Ms. Priya is the definition of genuine hospitality—warm, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable. She didn't just check us in; she sat down with us and shared invaluable local tips and hidden culinary spots that turned our trip into an unforgettable journey. Thanks to her detailed advice on the best hours to visit certain temples and which hawker stalls were truly authentic, we experienced Penang in a way we never could have on our own. She is an absolute asset to the mansion and an ambassador for Penang itself. ​If you are a discerning traveler who values history, architectural beauty, and personalized, heartfelt service, you must book your stay here. I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, and the facilities were well-maintained. The location was convenient, making it easy to get around and explore. I especially enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and attention to detail. I had a wonderful stay at this hotel . The reception girls was exceptionally kind and welcoming especially priya, made our stay more memorable from day one. The rooms were huge and comfortable, a real treat on a cool evening at the small pool . They also provide free ice-cream , tea , bun and coffee . There were also very good and delicious food by walking distance . I highly recommend this place . Will definitely be back again

Wow if you drive into this street you are thinking, here? But once there its so beautifull l, rooms are incredible, Pool is great. And best part Georgetown has the best food in Malaysia, and the mansion is close to them all. Yes there is lot of traffic, but you cant blame the hotel for this. Its an popular place so there are a lot of people.

The stay was so comfortable, with Nana assisting us from check-in to check-out and tending to all our requests. The property is so well maintained and clean, with the quaint pool being our highlight. The room was also so spacious with all possible amenities. Highly recommend! :)

As already mentioned by other reviewers, this is a beautiful old building in a nice location, but unfortunately the property is quite run down! Beware of the room (or rooms?) without windows! I find it utterly unacceptable that this could even be a thing, but they indeed placed us into a windowless room first. After we complained, they moved us. Also, be prepared for paint peeling off the walls, old and scratchy towels, low quality bed sheets, poor quality mattress, uneven floors where you can stumble at night, the door handle falling off when you touch it...that kind of stuff. This could have been an amazing property, if it was managed well; and if they turned windowless rooms into storage rooms...instead of guest rooms.

This is probably been the best hotel experience I have ever had, the place is beautiful. Everything has been done so tastefully and is aesthetically pleasing. The staff are wonderful particularly Nana who is charming and cannot do enough. |I will most definitely return to this wonderful hotel.
