My stay at the Jawi Peranakan Mansion was a truly charming and memorable experience. The hotel is beautifully restored with a unique blend of colonial and Peranakan architecture that reflects Penang's rich heritage. Every detail, from the wooden shutters to the antique furnishings, evokes a sense of nostalgia and cultural pride. The rooms were spacious, clean, and tastefully decorated, giving off a warm and cozy atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready to help with a smile. I especially appreciated the personalized touches and the quiet, peaceful vibe throughout the mansion.

There’s something nostalgic and charming about this heritage hotel. The road in front can get a bit noisy, so light sleepers might want to bring earplugs—though it adds to that lively Penang vibe. The room could use double-glazed windows, but honestly, it’s part of the character. They serve old-school breakfasts—simple but enough to fuel your day of exploring. There’s also a small pool that's perfect for kids to splash around in.

A beautiful building, tastefully restored and filled with carefully sourced pieces of furniture and art. Our room was great, really generously sized and comfortable. The staff at the front desk were very nice but I did feel more like I had rented a room in a house rather than having the experience of staying in a boutique hotel. |I think with some more staff on hand to create a bit more of a guest experience, this could be a really nice place. As it was though, a little cold and lacking much hospitality. Lights turned off too early in communal spaces both indoors and outdoors, making us feel we should be there. |A few simple suggestions to the hotel:|Please provide milk to go with tea and coffee|An easier way of getting in and out of the (otherwise lovely) pool |A refresh of poolside furniture which is looking rather sad |Thank you

We stayed for 2 nights in this wonderful restored boutique hotel. |Location is good as we like walking around the places we visited, it is not the most central location but walk to the heritage part of town is easy from here. ||The room we were in was nice, easily sleeps 4 people as there is another big bed on the second floor, but do be careful if you plan to stay in this room if you have small children as the stairs only have railing on one side (where there is wall). The stay does not come with breakfast but plenty of places for that around, within 5-7 minutes walk. There is a communal area next to the reception area where family can eat their dinner/lunch bought from outside. Water is also available from a dispenser on the ground floor, some canned drinks are FOC in the room. ||Pillows are on the thinner side, no slipper so do bring your own. We have one issue with the shower, where it is very difficult to regulate the water temperature and the hot water temperature is on the high side. Another issue is out of the hotel's responsibility, ie the traffic on the road with some crazy bikes/cars going fast during the night.||Swimming pool is excellent to cool off after a long day going around town.||The service was really good. The team are friendly and we were given a 1 pm check out plus we could also leave our luggages to be picked up later that afternoon.

I had a chance to be in Penang for the first time and in love with the island and its peranakan heritage cultural buildings. Including this hotel which have rich stories behind it and how it become a hotel and part of the heritage. I didn't take picture of the room where I stayed but you can imagine or see others reviews. The room is so spacious and feels like home. An experienced I never forget on how to live like Chinese Peranakan. Would like to go back and stay there again for sure. In my opinion, not everyone can cope with the surroundings which is aged and cultural. Only those who love classy yet timeless stuff will appreciate. About the staff? No doubt at all for their services.

We stayed here during our honeymoon in November 2024 and had a great experience. The service was really friendly. The room was clean, really spacious, and comfortable. It's a short walk or an easy Grab to lots of amazing cafes and restaurants. We will hopefully be back again one day.

Wow, what a place to stay. we stayed in one of the small Villas which came with 2 bathrooms , a small living area and a beautiful mezzanine bedroom. Rooms were equipped with all amenities, well air conditioned, and provided a lot of privacy to sit and relax in the little courtyard we had. The rooms and grounds had a lot of character, and we had a swim in the pool to cool off after sightseeing in the afternoon with towels provided. Although no breakfast and dinner offered there's some lovely places nearby- Plus coffee- coffee only, Sinar Coffee- coffee, pancakes and brekkie and we loved the Founders Club just up the road for all food. Staff were so helpful, loved Abby the cat!! We'd love to come and stay again, really miss our lovely little Villa, thank you!
