Stayed here for 9 nights on my holiday to Bali. The last trip was 15 years ago and I have always stayed in Legian so it was nice to be able to stay somewhere so close to the beach. I stayed on property in the Residents apartments which are 1 bedroom with external Bathroom and living area. The facilities were excellent. Two pools and 2 restaurants. Access to the beach is perfect. Morning beach swim then back to Sandy to work for the morning. The internet was super fast and a desk to work from. Bed was super comfy as were the pillows. Was nice having a balcony that had the afternoon sun. The living area was of Good size with a smart Tv to access Netflix and Youtube. Stove to cook if you like. Good sized fridge and a filtered water dispenser. Couch was a tad uncomfortable but it is a fold out double bed. Bathroom was clean and the shower great. Staff at the resort were always friendly. There is a gym which is very old school but enough for a good workout.

Don’t take the “upgrade”!!! Upon arrival, we were told we had been upgraded to a 1 bedroom apartment, rather than our deluxe king that we had initially booked. Of course we thought this was exciting, but once we arrived at the room it was truly awful. The room itself was extremely outdated, the kitchen which I thought was a large bonus to having an apartment space was dirty, falling apart and old. We found cockroaches in the bath, and had water dripping from the roof onto us when using the toilet. The bed was the most uncomfortable thing I’ve ever laid on. We dreaded the thought of staying in this room! I called reception to request our initial room as we refused to stay in the apartment. We were able to move the following day and thank god - the deluxe room was perfect. Clean, comfy beds and a nice view as a bonus. If you take anything from this review - keep your initial room, or don’t accept upgrades. Separately, the resort itself was beautiful, across the road from the beach and walking distance to bars, restaurants etc! Hospitality staff were extra lovely. Overall a great stay (once we moved rooms), although I would stay somewhere else in the future.

We spent about 3 weeks of August at Jayakarta and it’s not somewhere I would recommend. ||When we arrived, we were given an “upgrade” to an apartment. Who wouldn’t be happy about that? When we got into the apartment it was clear that the room had had no upgrades or maintenance probably for decades. And this was an upgrade?||I was exhausted and was in bed asleep by 7:30pm but the noise from the bar over the road was so loud that I was awake at 9:30pm and there was no way I was going to be able to sleep with that noise. This “upgrade” was meant to be our room for 3 weeks? Not a chance. ||At 9:30pm we called reception and told them that we needed to be moved from this room. They said that they would be there in 5 minutes to move us elsewhere. When the porter arrived and as we walked to our new room I asked him if he regularly had people be given “upgrades” only for them to demand to be moved because of the noise? He smiled at me and said “yes”.||If you do stay here and they offer you an “upgrade to an apartment”, I’d suggest that you decline the offer and say that you want to stay in the type of room that you booked. ||The staff throughout the hotel were friendly and helpful. ||As nearly everyone else has mentioned, the rooms need some love. They really are very dated. Hot water isn’t always guaranteed and I decided one day to run a bath, only to discover that the water was brown. Yuk. The kettle had a short cord so I could only plug it in to the wall in the bathroom. And it took so long to boil that I would turn it on when I got in the shower and it would just boil as I got out of the shower.||Breakfast options in the buffet were dull and rarely changed. The bacon was good though. ||The pool was a salt pool rather than chlorine, so it was good to be able to have a swim and not stink of chlorine. ||Maybe the hotel could renovate with the money that they make if they actively had staff walking around the pool offering drinks. We could sit by the pool for an entire day and maybe get asked once if we wanted a drink. Maybe. What a real lost opportunity to make money.||The location of the hotel is pretty good as it’s right across from the beach and all that that has to offer. ||I’m really not keen on staying here again.

We recently returned from a stay at the Jayakarta. We had interconnecting deluxe rooms (kids 11 and 13). The rooms were great, the bathrooms were dated but clean. Even though the building was old, it had a great Bali feel and the grounds were lovely. Really enjoyed the pool area and buffet breakfast. Location was great with shopping and other places to eat right out the front/back. The people who work there were very friendly and very helpful. Other than it being a bit dated we don't have anything negative to say about the place. We would defiantly stay there again. It's not like the modern resorts but that's what made it different and felt like a real holiday.

Arrived at 11.30 am and told rooms wouldn't be ready till 2pm. Fair enough, we wait till 2pm when we are told now wait till 3pm. Around 3.30pm asked if we would like to have a 3 bedroom apartment. We replied no we want our own privacy in the Deluxe Garden rooms we booked. 4pm asked would you like a 2 bedroom and a single room. No we want what we booked. 4.30 told our rooms not available due to booking problem their end. 5pm given standard rooms for the night, one of them in a separate building. We ended up in standard rooms for the 5 nights, one of us moved after the first night. The standard rooms are dated, with some mould and gaps in balcony doors that let mozzies in. We were never offered our booked rooms and we never received a discount, apology or even a free drink. The reception staff just don't care, which is unusual in Bali. General staff are good as well as the pools. To me the resort feels too big and lacking any personal touch.

We really enjoyed the 1990's esthetic. A grand lady when built. The manager personally sought out feedback, which was happily given and recieved. A big shout out to Astawan, who not only cleaned but also decorated the bed with a variety of towel animals with flowers. He even knew our names.. thanks from room 111.|Excellent breakfasts, as it is a Muslim country you won't get bacon... but what we experienced was as many Indonesians enjoying the facilities as well. If you want warm weather and all the comforts of home go to Bali. |If you'd like to feel as if you are immersed in another country and culture, then this is great. |The pool and grounds are stunning and a testament to the hard working crew. You won't get all the mod cons in your room but why did you come away? We've loved our time here.

Arrived late due to flight delay. Only to find pre booked room booked months ago and full pre paid had been given to some other guest. Next day they put us in room in poor condition. It was smelly, dirty there was no love in that room. Next day after complain to management they moved us to another room which was more modern but our front view meant to be a garden was only a building. Next day they moved us again into nice view room by the pool. Which was good and nice, but the room was in poor condition, musty and smelly and when we ran the bath the water was filthy and smelly. The food selection was good, but the beef was tough and we could not eat it. The hotel was very big one but as it claimed to be a four star hotel we feel that it was only two star really. The staff were helpful and friendly. As there are many other nicer hotels in that area we would not return or recommend this hotel.

It’s difficult. The staff are wonderful, the location is perfect but I just feel they outprice themselves for very very dated rooms. Strange when you pay $150 a night vs $40 a night and you wholeheartedly would choose the $40 a night option for newer rooms. Having said that, I enjoyed my stay but won’t return to Jayakarta again.
