Jazz Unterfahrt in Munich is worth a visit. The musical program consists of a mix of small quartets to big band that span the entire jazz genre. There are also jam nights mixed in. What’s more, doors open an hour before the show allowing time to come in and eat. The menu includes pasta, soup, light bar snacks like nuts and dessert (apple strudel or chocolate cake). While the food menu is rather small (though good) there is a longer drink menu consisting of alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. Both the food and drinks are priced reasonably. As for the show itself, can reserve / buy tickets online. Members tend to pay half the price of the regular ticket prices. Make a night of it and check out Jazz Unterfahrt, it’s the place for jazz in Munich.

Could be that this place is amazing But the hours schedule is incorrect I came especially when I arrive here for my birthday to spend an hour before the closing time and that not cool at all for the response below: Google states that you work until a certain hour| If this is not true It should be changed so that people don't come for nothing And your attitude only justifies the star given

To all the travelers, especially people of colour or Non-White persons, choose wisely and do not pick this place. I am okay with them serving overpriced canned food, but the attitudes and discrimination from this environment is absolutely toxic. A horrific nightmare!! I gave one star for my visit due to the racist, discriminative and rude actions I had to experience by the other customers, and which the employees in this Jazzclub took no measurements against. The seats were extremely compact, uncomfortable and there was absolutely no space for people passing by without constantly having to bump into each other. As an Asian American I had to feel the many disgusted looks that people threw at me upon entering the club. Their rude staring made me feel as if I was the first Asian person they ever saw in their lifes. Long story short, as a photographer, I was trying to take a photo during this fantastic concert. I carefully walked to the very back of the crowd, behind others, and tried to not disturb anyone, careless about their crude stare contest, looking down on me and my wife. Suddenly, this white man turns around screaming at me: "Hey sorry! Are you done yet? Go back to your seat!" My first instinct was to apologize to him, thinking I was in his way. But that made absolutely no sense, I was not blocking him or touching him. He acted like he owned the place and shouted at me again: "Please go back to your seat." Again, I was trying my best to be very polite, I apologized and told him I would go back to my seat. While I was packing up my cameras and equipment a short haired white woman, shouted at me few seconds later, she asked if I had any permission to stand there. I asked if she had the permission to remove me from my spot and if she owned the Jazz club. Only when she screamed that loudly my wife realized that the local racist people teamed up against me. It's hard to be an Asian American in Germany. I tried my best to fit in and learn about their culture and courtesy. But people from South-München apparently add another level of hostility. They think they are rich and every single one of them thinks that they are the most important person on this planet. Again, everyone just stared at us and my wife during this circumstance. There is no freedom and rights when you are an Asian traveler. Shame for the people who are listening to Jazz and Blues and don't know the music originated from African American experiencing racism and discrimination. BLM, ALM! The people from the stage and the employees and servers did nothing in this circumstance. It is ridiculous, this club needs to decide to either play Jazz for everyone of us or let white supremacy rule. *Additional comment after owner's reply: Thank you very much for your answer Michael! So I assume a simple apology that would resolve the issue isn't something your pride allows you to give? So your own opinion about the Jazz club being a place for everyone and comparing it to a church makes my bad experience there go away? So you really do think that absolutely unacceptable rude behavior of guests is justified when a person tries to take a single photo for a minute? So you would rather have people in your club treating each other like trash, than talking in a reasonable way to each other? If you would really care, you would have read and understood that the white guests created an atmosphere that I cannot and will not accept, screaming at me and disturbing the concert, not the other way around. How would you interprete this behavior if you were a foreigner and white people would treat you like this? I would say it is racist, to not look like the "typical bio German" and people teaming up against you.As for you sir, I would like to give you some quote by a very famous jewish-german, Hannah Arendt: "That's just the unwillingness to ever imagine what's actually going on with the other person, isn't it?" Wouldn't you agree, if I said your reply is just reproducing racist stereotypes again, assuming that I as a "person of color" would be the screaming misfit? Read carefully

The atmosphere and the bands are really unique in Munich. The length of the walk through the underground cellar vault alone sets the mood for the event. The food, however, is below par. The wine also average drinks with a few olives without flavor. Too bad here you can really align the palate pleasures more to the auditory pleasure.

I was here with a friend of mine because we wanted to go to a jazz bar for quite some time. He booked the table in advance over the internet, which worked perfectly fine. The food was good, the artists were great as well, we had a good time here. There are pillars in the room, which obstruct the view of the stage for some seats. This didn't affect us too much tho because the seats next to ours were free so we just moved over a bit. This might be something to keep in mind for when the place is packed.

Lovely place to spend an evening, we've been a couple of times to the jam sessions and we're always pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is cozy, the food is delicious and the drinks are great!

The atmosphere is great in this renovated space that used to be a brewery. The music is great, the prices are reasonable. If you like jazz music, you'll have a great time.

I bought a ticket to see Danish quintet Teis Severs and they were amazing. Sound engineering was very good also. My food, Currywurst mit Pommes, was a little greasy but otherwise it was a great experience. It's a little hard to find the entrance and I got confused about where to queue/wait but I'll know for next time.

Yelp
The Jazzclub Unterfahrt is the foremost jazz venue in Southern Germany. Musically is where the Unterfahrt really shines. It punches above its weight gloablly--with renowned acts on par with grander NYC or West Coast venues--but retains its small-club edginess with a steady stream of Europe's up-and-coming jazz talent. That said, you won't be impressed by the physical space or acoustics. It's a small, intimate club, guess it fits about 80 people, and has a low ceiling, brickwork, and roof-support posts partially blocking the view of the stage. If you can, buy tickets online at least a couple weeks in advance, which gets you a table & service. With a membership you get 50% discount and access to members-only events.

Yelp
You know, I really want to like the Unterfahrt. The programme explores serious, progressive jazz, as well as lighter fare. The short walk to its subterranean location, deep inside a disused beer cellar, gives you the feeling you're heading someplace secret, avant-garde, and maybe a bit subversive. But alas, every time I've visited, the physical limitations of the space have made my stay uncomfortable. It's crowded, and difficult to get to the bar. One often feels like one is stepping on toes to get to one's seat. Par for the course, for an intimate jazz club? Perhaps. I enjoy the music, but seldom the atmosphere.

Yelp
Clear recommendation for fans of live jazz music! Every day live; you can see and hear the most famous musicians and bands, as well as fantastic and creative newcomers. I have been there two times with a guest from the US (Phoenix/AZ), who happens to be Jazz musician himself, and he enjoyed it a lot and was impressed of the club's atmosphere and music selection. And he found it a pity that even in the US you can't find too many of such clubs!
