JCI-James Coney Island (Shepherd)

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this place. The food was tasty, the customer service was outstandingly friendly and courteous and helpful (much better than 85% of other places), and it was clean. I had heard mixed reviews about James Coney Island from friends, and I’m grateful I gave it a shot on my own to experience it because I quite enjoyed it. If you’ve never eaten here, I think it’s worth to at least give it a try and vet for yourself how much you like it. Because I thought it was fantastic!

The hot dog buns are still nice and steamed BUT the meat seems to have shrunken CONSIDERABLY! *Edit added: recent visit 1 year later.. food was still great tasting but the hot dogs still don't fill the length of the bun like they used to years ago.

I only eat these overpriced chili dogs when they have those 98 cent specials. $2.50 per dog normal price is just outright criminal imo.

It's funny, I've lived in this neighborhood for years but never dropped by JCI to eat. I've been missing out! The place was spotless. The manager, Jimmy, took my order and we even chatted a little about cars. What a nice guy! I forgot to take a napkin when I got my food, but one of the employees was on hand and happy to help. I had the combo with chili and a drink. Being a native Texan, I'm a little picky about my chili, but JCI didn't disappoint. If you're looking for good food and old-fashioned service, you should definitely give this place a try.

As a human I understand things don't always go right. But I appreciate the willingness of the staff to make sure me and my children were satisfied with our order! Great customer service!!!

Been a fan of JCI since the 70's. Great representation of the brand at this location. Very clean and well-kept. Friendly and fast service, drink refills brought to our table. The manager Jimmy was so friendly and fun to talk to. Enjoyed it-wouldn't hesitate to come back!

Good food but the quality can be down at times. I had a dip cone once that was clearly bad. They gave me my money back. Staff is courteous and helpful.

Great quick bite to eat. Food was all fresh and fast. Dining room was impeccably clean.
