I was gifted a set of dark chocolate macarons from this place. They were all superb, so I had to go find this place when I visited Paris! Honestly, this is a paradise for dark chocolate lovers! I tried their Dark Venezuelan Chocolate “Tonka” Cake and their Dark Cameroon Chocolate “Douala” Cake. Both very delicious but I prefer the latter. The staff were really lovely and helpful. I would go back again for sure!

Taste in chocolate is not distinct from one to another, not very clean and precise. Too much cream in macarons overpowering the texture, again same issue with macaron, taste is blurred, not much flavor. Overall, not impressed for the locations and price.

The macarons are decadent and extremely flavorful. Lovely strong chocolate taste! Great place to get gifts, the packaging is beautiful. I’d also like to commend the staff who answered all my questions and even gave us free macarons.

Famous chocolate shop in Paris. I tried the macaroons and they were fabulous. I regret not getting any chocolate that day, but it gives me a reason to go back someday, which is always a good thing.

I could have bought everything in the shop! Everything is so tempting. Friendly and useful staff will help you make a choice. Worth entering the courtyard to discover some of the best chocolates on offer in Paris.

I decided to come in to get a gift before leaving Paris for my parents. The interior decor of the store is beautiful. The staff were helpful and friendly and helped me pick out something. Definitely recommend if you're looking for quality.

Super good macarons!!

A quick stop for some macarons and chocolate on a food tour This place has won awards for being the best chocolatier Everything we sampled was perfection!

Look for a small gold plaque. The store is actually in a small courtyard and not directly on Saint Honore, so very easy to miss. I wandered the small shop for several minutes, taking in the large selection in individual pieces, prepackaged boxes and macaroons. I settled on two bars. Thrilled to discover Jean-Paul makes a 100% chocolate bar. The staff warns me, "it will be bitter". No, it's heaven. Luscious. I never thought I was s big macaroon fan, but I did purchase one chocolate one for the road. Wow, the pillow soft outer cookie and the creamy chocolate center. Glad I didn't buy more, they would have been gone in a couple of hours.

Jean-Paul Hévin's surname sounds a bit like "heaven", doesn't it? (Those rather striking wings on their storefront sure reinforce that idea.) This chocolate shop and glaciere - ice cream apparently only for take out - wins in style points, and is stocked with luxury options. Their chocolate stiletto (chassure stiletto) was tempting, but its 53€ price dampened our enthusiasm. Besides, no one wanted to wear it. Friendly staff helped us, and we left with macaroons and cheese-filled chocolates. Don't miss the chocolates: when you bite into a bonbon, the texture leads you to believe that you're getting a mint creme, but no - you're getting rich cheese with that. Otherworldly.

Blue cheese (soft roquefort and walnut) tastes cheesy, just the right balance of sour and sweet. Chocolate you want to live off on. Cumin makes the Epoisse interesting. I got the 16 and 24 piece box of cheese appetizers for about $70. I had to share because there wasn't enough time to hide it. I wish the pieces were bigger. I've already eaten five. I've never had anything like this before. If no one had told you what the fluffy custard filling was, one would guess it's marscapone. So very good, they exceeded my expectations. The Pont L'eveque is sweet but too mild. The rest of them have bittersweet and sour complexity because its cheese. There are really nice designs on top of the blue cheese truffle. They're white inside. These are an awesome and delicious souvenir because it costs EUR 58 just to ship a box to this continent.

I went to Jean- Paul Hevin for gifts for my friends. I really enjoyed looking at all the amazing treats. The staff was nice and helpful with chocolate suggestions for my friends back home. I had one of their caramels while I was there and it was creamy and delicious. I would suggest the chocolate caramel if you stop in. In addition of truffles, they also have hot chocolate mix, chocolate bars, caramels and macaroons. The strangest thing they sell is chocolate in "toothpaste" like tubes.

Let me first start off by saying these chocolates are the best I have tried very long time. The way this company designs their products is remarkable. The chocolate and dark chocolate squares are delicious. Next time I am in Paris I'm going back to this location. You guys need to ship to United States you'll be making lots of money!!!

They shut down the tea room and they had next to no selections of desserts left. They moved from a big shop with lots of selection to a tiny little embarrassing hole in a wall. It's like a poor man's chocolatier shop. I'm really pissed!!! What a waste of my time going all the way there! Better off going to Galerie Lafayette Gourmet and buying from the stands/kiosks there.

Jean-Paul Hévin's specialty is chocolate, although he also offers an assortment of pastries, cakes, macarons, and caramels. His "tablet" chocolate bars are ~4€ each, compared to over 12€ at Pierre Herme. Macarons are also only 1.50€ here, which was the cheapest we saw among the several patisseries we patronized. I liked how they charge only a little bit extra for a box (less than 1€) -- the boxes are not as sturdy as the ones at Ladurée or Pierre Hermé, but they do come with a plastic insert to stabilize each individual macaron, which came in handy for transport back to the States. A nice break from boutique shopping on rue Saint Honoré.

The best hot chocolate in Paris in undeniably at Jean Paul Hevin. You may leave in a chocolate induced coma but it will be self induced and it will be oh so worth it. Please skip Angelina and come around the corner to here instead. It is in an extremely central location just off Place Vendome and the Tuileries so the location really couldn't be more ideal. You won't feel like you're surrounded by millions of tourists here instead the place has more of a French feel where Parisians talk over the table in hushed whispers to one another. The hot chocolate here is to die-for. It is the perfect treat for a winter's day in Paris when the world feels bleak and you need something comforting to bring you back to life. They offer a selection of different hot chocolate among them are chestnut, raspberry, cinnamon and a few others. Every one that I've had has been flawless. The patisseries are equally as good but you may find it a bit too rich with a hot chocolate and a patisserie so I would recommend sharing a patisserie unless you're feeling very hungry. It costs around 7 euro I believe for a hot chocolate and they will automatically bring over a jug of water for you (at no extra charge) I've been here many times and have only ever received brilliant service. An added bonus it also being able to see the chef make your hot chocolate in for you. The kitchen section is in the tea room therefore you are able to see him away at work. I would go as far to say that this is the best chocolat chaud in Paris!

Valentines weekend in Paris! Beaucoup d'amour and lovely chocolate. At first we visited the shop at rue Vavin, but they don't sell hot chocolate. The area at Rue Vavin, next to jardin Luxembourg is very nice. If you are in Paris, go check out the different shops and restaurants over there. The shop of Jean-Paul Hévin at 231rue Saint Honoré has a cozy tearoom on the second floor. Specialy for Valentines day they made a delicious chocolade Pomme d'amour! The outside of the apple was made of delicious chocolate and it was filled up with a mousse of dark chocolate Grand Cru de Jamaïque, a mousse of mascarpone, a biscuit with citron flavor and a soft salted caramel. Fantastic. The hot chocolate was very tasty, the best hot chocolate ever!

I've died and gone to Hévin. Milk chocolate Hévin. This is a chocolate lover's paradise. There is a little cafe space upstairs but it can be crowded so I recommend takeaway. My favorite dessert here is in the glass case-- the "Longchamp Chocolat." It is a short and squatty cylinder with a crispy meringue center covered in milk chocolate that is studded with crunchy crispies and runs about 5 Euro. Get here too close to closing time and the counter will be sold out. All that will be left is the dark chocolate version which is NOWHERE near the milk chocolate concoction. One time I got the noir version, and the meringue center was soggy and not up to par. The next day, the counter girl who sold them to me gave me free replacements of the milk chocolate version. The benefit of trekking here is that you can burn off some of your indulgent calories by tooling around the Jardin des Tulieries.

I got the vanilla macaron and Kady got the cassis-basilic macaron. This vanilla macaron was pretty darn good! The inside was creamy, but it didn't melt in your mouth like Pierre Hermé's vanilla one (my favorite). Kady's was really good and so interesting. And I don't mean the kind of "interesting" you say when something is bad but you're afraid to hurt the person's feelings. No, Mr. Hévin, your macarons were absolutely delicious. I recommend them. Next time I'd like to try the crème brulée flavor, the chocolate flavor and the coffee flavor. I've read this is also a good place to get chocolate. I'm just a macaron kind of person, I guess.

I practically conducted my own chocolate/pastry tour of Paris on my last visit, so obviously Jean-Paul Hevin was on my list of must-sees! I have to say, I liked it, but it wasn't as good as I was expecting. I went with my family and we got: the hot chocolate, Caracas cake, Tonka cake, and the Longchamp Praline. The hot chocolate was tasty, but had too much milk for my liking (it also didn't help that it was about 70*F. out). My brother had the Caracas (one of their most popular chocolate cakes), which was good but nothing special. My mother had the Longchamp Praline (the "milk-chocolate" one), which was quite tasty. However, I had had the Longchamp Chocolat (the "dark-chocolate" one) on another occasion just a day or two before at the Saint-Germain location, and preferred that one. I had the Tonka (streusel praline topped with an almond and tonka bean cake, chocolate mousse, and then chocolate ganache) which was perfection! It had a wonderful flavor and the combination of textures was divine! We had a couple of chocolates as well, but they were not very memorable. All in all, I enjoyed Jean-Paul Hevin and would love to go back (specifically to try the cheese-filled chocolates, Chocolate Framboise cake, the macarons, or the raspberry hot chocolate!). My disappointment in the food only stems from my high expectations and anticipation. That being said, Hevin is a must for chocolate lovers!

I really loved this little chocolate shop. The downstairs is the shop where you can choose pastries and chocolates to take away, but upstairs is the perfect place to sit and enjoy a hot chocolate and a pastry (or two!). They have many hot chocolates to choose from but given that a local newspaper had just voted their regular hot chocolate the best hot chocolate in Paris, we stuck to the basics. It was a much lighter hot chocolate than the one at Angelina. It was still rich and delicious. I preferred the overall experience here to Angelina. You are tucked up above Rue St. Honore, away from the bustle to enjoy a little treat. We also got some cookies and chocolates to take home and everything we've tasted has been excellent, particularly the chocolate crisps - waffers coated in chocolate. My one disappointment was that they do not offer the cheese chocolates individually. You have to buy an entire box and I just wanted to try one.

Still love the chocolates, and still love the macarons! After trying more macarons around Paris, I can honestly say that this place offers the best macarons I've had in the city. The texture was great - it was crisp, chewy and soft at the same time, the filling had a great texture, and I loved the flavors, such as the fruity grapefruit one, or the mango-cardamom one with a nice balance of fruit and spice. However, my absolute favorite is the pistachio macaron, which was not too sweet and in addition to the beautiful texture of the cookie, the ganache had nice crispy little pieces and an amazing flavor. It wasn't salty, but you could tell that there was a smart, subtle use of salt to accentuate the flavors. Also delicious was the creme brulee macaron, which tasted exactly like the dessert, and has real caramelized sugar inside. The chocolate eclair was good but, nothing compared to the one at Jacques Genin.

Best macarons that I tried in France, and in my opinion... The consistency and taste is better than Laduree, although both are very good. Jean Paul takes the number one spot!

Amazing!! We went for an after lunch treat, and sat down upstairs to have an espresso and several amazing desserts. The macaroons are probably one of the best. The service is a little slow, but that is what you expect in a place like this. Enjoy yourself and the amazing neighborhood. A must during your visit to Paris.

disappointing. The hot chocolate was adequate, in other words nothing special. The patisseries were good but not delicious. If your looking for something mediocre than go for it. It wasn't bad, but it just wasn't good.

i had decided to eat 2 deserts a day so i tried a bunch of places and they all have their star, chocolate mouse (longchamp) happens to be their claim to fame!
