On a Cliffside in Oman, Para-Athlete Zainab Al-Eqabi Finds Her Freedom | Condé Nast Traveler

"High on a cliff in northern Oman, I clipped into a via ferrata—its steel cable cold, smooth, and unsentimental—and edged along a sliver of ledge above a drop that would turn your stomach if you dared look down. The day had started at sunrise, the path zigzagging across loose shale and burnt orange limestone as we scrambled over boulders and crept along brittle rock that flaked underfoot, with open air on one side. I hiked for hours with a small group of Omani adventurers I’d met online; after cheerful checks of my harness, the talking stopped as the terrain demanded focus. Moving with care, I placed my right foot, pivoted my hip to swing my prosthetic into position, and climbed rung by rung until I pulled myself over the final rung, arms trembling in the sun. The reward was a view that struck like a wave: mountains rippling like a bedsheet beneath a pale sky, wind shearing across the ridge—and with it, a quiet permission to belong there." - Scott Campbell

Lovely place for a hike loved the views and the people who were also tourists there were very friendly and so we’re the people who actually worked there, I would visit again however I had elder people come along with me and they struggled so I wouldn’t recommend it for older people

Perfect long drive location from Muscat, full of scenery, the top is about 2060 meters from sea level; you will feel the difference when you start the journey from ground level until you reach top; when i visited the temperature was 13 degree in afternoon and dips till 7 degree at night; you have an option to stay there as well with little extra cost; beautiful place I must say to get different experience

Imagine stunning mountain ranges with charming villages nestled in the background. And there, you’ll spot the famous rose terraces, where rose water is harvested. You can begin your journey from a starting point and hike through three beautiful villages of Al Aqr, Al Ayn, and Ash Shirayjah, soaking in the natural beauty. You’ll see trees covered in golden leaves and pomegranate farms. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the right time of year, so we only found some rotten ones. This trail is definitely worth it, even if it might seem a bit challenging at first. Throughout our hike we also witnessed the efficient falaj irrigation system which provides clean water to all the villages. Thereafter we returned to the main viewpoint, and witnessed a breathtaking sunset with an incredible landscape as the backdrop. It was pure bliss.

This is my second visit driving from Dubai. If you have a four wheeler don’t miss to explore the scenic mountain top and its valley

Best place to spend holidays when it's 🥵 in Muscat. Weather is pleasant on the mountains, but it needs to be developed a little more. There are fewer options for food and restaurants.

It is an absolutely stunning place, although there is no road and if you plan to go there only an all road SUV will do, the landscape is worth it. The mountains, rocks, hills and nature is intact and very beautiful, the pictures do not reveal the entire beauty.

Visiting Jebel Akhdar with my best friends was an unforgettable experience. The cool mountain breeze, scenic views, and peaceful villages made it a perfect escape. We enjoyed every moment—sharing food, wine, laughter, and songs under the stars. From hiking the trails to relaxing in the calm of nature, it was a trip we’ll always cherish. Reaching the top requires a 4x4 vehicle, but the ride itself is thrilling. The mountain landscapes were surreal, with deep canyons and lush terraces stretching as far as the eye could see. Every stop gave us a new view and a new memory. Jebel Akhdar gave us more than just a getaway—it gave us stories to tell for life.
