Jekyll and Hyde Taphouse Grill

So yummy! My house salad so very good and I love how the veggies were all chopped up so fun! My steak was perfectly cooked. And the gluten free Mac and cheese was surprisingly good. It’s hard to find good gluten free food but they did very well. Our waiter Kaylee was so amazing and kind!

The decor is awesome, the staff was excellent. Fish & chips serving size was a tad small but well breaded and tasty. We arrived during night menu hours, so our options were a bit limited. We definitely want to go back when the full menu is available. Beer selection both non-alcoholic and normal were quite good. Overall outstanding.

My wife and I ate here a year or two ago and did not have a good experience. However, we decided to try them again and were pleasantly surprised. The service was much improved and the food was great. We ordered the candied bacon for an appetizer and were not prepared for what they brought (see picture). The bacon was very thick and had a spicy sweet flavor. Can’t wait to go back and have it again. It’s amazing how good service can completely change your opinion about a place. I wanted to give them 4 stars but I can’t think of anything to mark them down on. We have added this restaurant to our go to list.

A local spot that has phenomenal customer service, excellent food and delicious drinks. We were served by Lexi who was quick and efficient with her service, checking in on us regularly; she was well versed in the knowledge of everything on tap and graciously provided us with samples to accommodate the questions we had. Jekyll and Hyde Taphouse and Grill not only provides a comfortable atmosphere for any occasion but have excellent, experienced staff to ensure your visit is memorable.

Maria was one of the best and most attentive bartenders and servers that I’ve had in a long time! We came in at a very off time hour of the day after shopping, and she had festive drink options for us appetizers and even stayed for dinner. Rachelle, who was one of the food servers who delivered our food and chatted with us briefly made us feel very welcome.! My first time here and I will be back! Solid edgy vibe, a very lovely wait staff, and so many menu options holy. I can’t say the food itself was the most flavorful in the world, but you know it was decent and what it lacked was made up for by atmosphere. Almost the opposite of that restaurant on the moon.

Overall the food was very good. The filet was perfectly cooked. The vegetables were cold but they brought me hot vegetables to replace them. The staff was really nice and professional. The wine was good as well and the other red blend complemented my steak

Spent Saturday evening downtown Matthews with a friend and decided to give Jekyll and Hyde a second chance. It's a cute restaurant with a patio and live music was playing the night I visited. We had a great waitress who was thoughtful and attentive. I ordered a plain burger and brussel sprouts. The burger was great this time around. The brussel sprouts were ok, more on the vinegar based side than I'm used too. Our waitress returned them and we got different sides. The broccolini was amazing. The fries were ok since some were not completely cooked. The burger in the photo doesn't look like much but it was 9 out 10 in my book.

Went to a concert in Charlotte and stayed in Matthews. When the concert ended at 9:30, out options in Matthews for a bite to eat was limited. We landed at J and H at 10:15 (open to 11). Was a little concerned because the bartender was not very attentive. After about 10 minutes she grabbed her purse and left. The other bartender stepped up and asked what we wanted. Everything changed! Laney was great, first with cocktails and then quickly getting us our food. Ordered the artichokes and was a little disappointed. The best I can say was they were okay. Little dry and could have used a sauce. Split a sandwich and was great. Overall nice environment, good food and service good (finally)

This the third location we have tried out while visiting Charlotte. Probably my least favorite of the three. Don't get me wrong, the food was just as good as the others, which is excellent. 3 beers I tried to order off their list weren't really there, and in trying to be helpful the waitress "suggested" something else that was a completely different style and I let it happen, and wished I hadn't We were there at lunch on a Friday and it certainly wasn't crowded but service was a bit slow. Man I loved that Jack the Ripper burger though! And my wife's steak sandwich warmed up the next day great for leftovers.

Great time with our group of 6. I loved my Luck Of The Irish cocktail that bubbles up and released "smoke" (they make it with dry ice that is sectioned off at the bottom of the glass) - total wow factor! We also loved the large Bavarian pretzel with 2 dipping sauces - great for sharing! Everyone enjoyed their meals - mine was a steak and arugula salad and I added a piece of salmon for an additional $9 to get extra protein. The British steam punk decor is fun - like the pipe toilet paper holder and the wall of books leading to the bathroom. Service was perfect!

Friendly service. Enjoyed the ambiance (would make for a great Halloween dinner outing). I tried the blackberry bramble drink and it tasted a bit more tart than I liked. Our server offered to add some simple syrup which I appreciated. I also had the Reuben. It was good, though I wish the bread stayed more toasty - the heat/moisture sort of made the bread damp. Overall, a bit pricier than I would hope for but would return again.

The food was awful. I ordered a steak and it was barely edible. Super greasy, thin, overcooked. My husband got the fish and chips and it was clear as day that it was some sort of frozen, low-quality packaged fish. It almost looked like it was ground up raw fish shoved in a small can or mold, pushed out and then fried. It was perfectly cylindrical. He ended up not eating it. We both kind of just shook our heads, paid the bill and left. The service was good, but we won't be back.

Wow! This place has it all!!! Really nice steampunk decor, cool music, great cocktail/drink options, and amazing food!!!! Went here recently with my best friend and we were not disappointed at all!!! Our waiter was so kind and helpful when we were picking our drink and menu options!!! We were asking what he thought was best and could tell he was being honest, because he didn't even pick out the most expensive item, like other waiters might have done at other places. We both got drinks and water to start, both drinks tasted absolutely amazing!!! They tasted quality if that makes sense, it wasn't all just alcohol, you could tell somebody really put time and effort into those drinks. Which we appreciated! We shared some Irish nachos, and all I can say is just get them!!! They are the homemade type of potato chips, but not all greasy like at other places, these were perfectly crispy and just right!!!! They were smothered generously in beer cheese, fresh peppers, some kind of magical avocado ranch or something- I don't know...whatever it was it was just magical. They give you a huge portion!!!! And we ate it allllllll, that's how good it was!!! I ordered fish and chips as an entree and was not disappointed. I got the truffle fries or chips as they call it, and they were very flavorful!!!! The fish was cooked and fried beautifully, I mean this was just amazing and fresh food!! My bestie ordered some kind of sausage plate per our waiter's recommendation, and she was amazed by her entree! It was gorgeous and delicious she said! Now, our waiter explained to us some cool facts about the place after we sat down and ordered, we did spend some $$$$$ at this place, but it was well worth it! We sat on the English side which is more of a classy, sit-down style with that kind of vibe, but on the other side there's a more casual bar type section, with a more laid back and relaxed vibe...the Irish/Scottish part. I think I am remembering that correctly. We will probably try that section next time just to see what it's like. Our waiter said it's decorated a bit differently, they play different music, and it even has different bricks on that side, which was interesting. We will be back!!!! The food was definitely quality and the customer service was exceptional! Highly recommend!!!

We decided to try this place again after having been here once previously. It was a disappointing dinner. The service was good and our waitress was prompt. However, the food was mediocre and very overpriced. We did like the zucchini fries as an appetizer which were crispy, tasty, and hot. . I ordered the Limerick onion soup . It was tasty, but came out lukewarm, which was disappointing. They did, however, take that off the tab. My b/f ordered a ribeye which was listed at market price, but was outrageously priced at $44.50. He said there was nothing special about it. We won't be back again anytime soon, especially not at these exorbitant prices. There are many other better restaurants in the Charlotte area.

Went for dessert and Irish coffee tonight. An hour before closing, hostess tried to talk us out of staying. Server forgot some of our order and told us she was closing check at 8:10 (close at 9). No apology for forgetting drinks. Gee, sorry for bothering you with our patronage! Next time Grace O'Malleys!

After randomly running into a old friend from a decade ago, we decided to meet for dinner. I was a first timer here. She'd been a few times before and had great experiences. The restaurant is cozy and offers classic comfort food. The restaurant itself is adorned with rustic-ish decor, creating a warm and inviting ambiance that adds to the overall dining experience. I ordered the delicious Shepherd's Pie and my friend had the Fish and Chips. Now I'm certain that this place is a local go-to spot for a hearty and satisfying meal. We started with an appetizer. The candied bacon. Four large and very thick pieces of bacon. A tad salty for my taste, but also deliciously sweet. I see how it could be a fan fave, but I stopped after one piece while my friend enjoyed the rest. I ordered the Shepherd's Pie. This dish is the epitome of comfort. It'll warm your soul. The serving is huge. The picture does it no justice. You'll be stuffed if you can manage to eat the whole thing. The meat and potatoes in the Shepherd's Pie was already too much, and I still asked for a side of bread. I'm human. Our waiter, Cameron, gave me a toasted bun which was perfect. Moving on to the Fish and Chips, while it may not steal the spotlight like the Shepherd's Pie, it still held its own. My friend finished her dish and said it was fantastic. I also tried the Heated Affair. The drink itself was amazing. It would have been absolute perfection for me if the glass were filled a tad bit more to make it a standard serving size, and if it had a sugar rim. All in all, the delish food and our excellent server made us have a wonderful experience.

We stopped by Jekyll and Hyde for a beer & appetizer one Saturday afternoon. It is a little outside the Matthews main drag and down the hill but worth the extra short walk! I really liked it here! They have a large beer selection with several taps featuring local beer. We ordered a chicken bacon ranch flatbread and it was really good! The toppings were piled high and drizzled with ranch as well as hot sauce. We really liked the flavors here. It was a tad difficult to eat with your hands, and I ended up taking a fork to it. I want to go back and try more things, will report back.

They know exactly what they are doing and they take you on a delicious journey. I ordered the Shepherd's Pie, my first time having it and I'm so glad I had it here! The chocolate cake is just okay but wow the Shepherd's Pie had chucks of potato which made it exciting. I now will forever love Shepherd's Pie thanks to Jekell & Hyde!

First time here and I was pleased! Tried the mushroom flatbread and it was flavorful and filling. Sat outside on the l patio and it was great-- well-lit, comfortable and clean. Service was good.

Went to Jekyll and Hyde for a cup of soup with a lot of friends. One of them ordered a glass of house Chardonnay granted 9 ounce.. $18:50 for house Chardonnay. Last time we will come here!

I have been a patron of this establishment for years, and it pains me to say that I will not be returning until there is a serious change in management. The food and atmosphere are not the problem--the issue lies entirely with the way this place is currently being run. The current manager has created an environment that feels unprofessional, chaotic, and downright unpleasant for both guests and staff. Instead of being attentive and supportive, the leadership is dismissive, unapproachable, and gives the impression that customer concerns are an inconvenience rather than a priority. It's clear that the staff are doing their best, but their efforts are being undermined by poor direction and an obvious lack of respect from management. What was once an enjoyable, reliable spot has now become a place I can no longer recommend. Until there is new leadership in place--someone who values both customers and employees--I won't be spending another dollar here. Management makes or breaks an establishment, and right now, it's breaking this one.

I went on a Friday night. It was relatively busy but no wait. Like 3 waitresses walked by the hostess stand without a "hello" or "someone will be right with you"before the hostess returned to the stand. The manager, Sarah, is a gem of a person. Lots of personality and she seems to really care about this place. The food was good- not special- but good. I had the maple bacon burger with onion rings. It was cooked well and the flavors were on point. The others in my party had the rotisserie chicken. It looked great and they both enjoyed it.

Oh man! Wow! Visited this location on a Saturday afternoon with my significant other, we wanted a couple of drinks so we stopped in- & I mean, meh. Bartenders weren't exactly inviting there today! I ordered Jekyll's margarita, it had hints of cinnamon and vanilla! It was tasty. I've had the food in the past it wasn't anything to write home about but wasn't terrible either. I wished our bartenders were a little friendlier to say the least! Especially with the price tag- I did notice that if you were alone, you had a better reaction from bar staff. The last drink my significant other got, we gracefully had the bartender throw a napkin at him! The drinks we ordered before, we grabbed our own napkins ‍ I probably won't rush back. The ambiance is a cool steampunk vibe! Oh yeah- (just from surrounding customers asking around me) I learned this isn't the place for you if you want to order Bud light, Budweiser or Coors lol

I was at the on Thursday night. Laney and kam were behind the bar making me amazing drinks!!! Will def be back!!

My wife and I ate there yesterday late morning. I had the corned beef hash which was excellent and she had a burger which she claimed was a bit better than one from our favorite place (just 'down the street'). Service was very good (we sat in the bar area). Also, I had been into a Jekyll & Hyde's a few years ago and the beer selection was ok. That certainly turned around as IMO this place has the best beer selection in Waxhaw. Based on the above I'd rate our visit at 4.5. One serious concern however, that I hope they're addressing, is the health score/rating which was a 91.6. Over the years, from digging into what's behind that score and what is considered a 'safe' cut off, if we see a rating below 94 we usually turn around and walk out. We obviously ignored that rule yesterday but if that score doesn't improve we probably wouldn't return.

Service was great. Kaleigh and Robert were fantastic. We will definitely be back. Love the steampunk look and Jekyll/Hyde split theme.

Very eclectic decor and the staff is dressed for it! I would have given 5 stars as the food was amazing. But the service wasn't very good. I ordered a chocolate martini and husband was offered a sample of a beer. After 10-15 minutes I was informed that they were missing one of the ingredients for the martini so I switched. While waiting for the drinks (we still had not received the beer sample), our food arrived. Well, most of it. Hubby and I were both missing our sides. We finally received the martini and the sample about the time I said to my husband "maybe I should just cancel the drink". Food had great flavors and we will definitely be back. I just hope they work out the service kinks

Great bar maid food beyond burger was great , square mozzy sticks where good and delicious. The apple cider on tap was a good choice.

it was a bit of a throwback day when I met Sarah here for lunch. I went to Matthews School when it was grades 1 to 12. Yep, it was a while back and I still have lots of memories of this town. Of course, it has changed a lot over the years but it's still a town with a lot of charm and character. When I asked Sarah, what was her fav Matthews place for lunch, this is the place she recommended. We got there at 1130a and there was hardly anyone there on a Saturday. It was the first nice day we've had in nearly a month so as the clocked ticked the place filled up. We both had the Guinness onion soup which was excellent I wanted to try something that was traditional Irish so I got the Shepherd's Pie and it was really good. I couldn't quite go 5 starts on this place but it was close. It gets very, very loud to the point where you can't have a conversation with someone sitting right across the table. The real story here is the service. We had a server named Joshua J who was just excellent. A real pro in every way. I even told the Manager the same. Sarah said she's had him as a Server before and he's always been good. I like the easy access of the main road and they have a really big dedicated parking lot. They also have some nice outdoor seating options when the weather allows and they have the garage type doors that open up for fresh air. The menu is extensive and if you come on the weekend, you have the option of selecting the brunch menu or anything off the full menu as well. Great experience and I would recommend it.

Eh. The fried pickles were cold, so I had them bring some more and they were also cold! And the shepherds pie was too salty. So I drank lots of water and ran out twice. AND they had a radio playing loudly in the kitchen so we had a mix of shake shake shake your booty and Living On A Prayer going at the same time! And we had a live man rabbit beside us eating floppy bacon like a ticket machine

Was so looking forward to brunch! Sat down at 11:20, ordered brunch, 10 minutes we were told they don't have biscuits ready and it would be another 30 minutes until they are ready! Really! On a Saturday! Had a sandwich instead and it sucked! Don't waste your time or money.

So this was my third time here. This time I walked in and placed an order for two salads to go. Checking my ticket time the order went in at 2:19PM. At 2:44 I started waiting for a Bartender to walk by so I could inquire about my order. No one had, as yet, checked to see if it was ready. Lunch tickets, no matter how busy a restaurant is, should take about 12 minutes. Since they were busy, which really shouldn't matter, I gave them double the time. Finally, 28 minutes after my order went to the kitchen, I got a Bartender to check. A minute later he came out with my food. My order could have been ready in that "12 minute window" but no one ever bothered to check. I saw the Manager walk around and he passed by me 3 or 4 times. I was just sitting at the bar with an Iced Tea in a to-go cup. I would have thought that he might have asked me if I was waiting for anything. But he didn't. We'll be back but....

Greats seats and good music but off to a rocky start. If you are going to provide the lunch menu with the dinner it's probably best to explain that that food isn't available or better yet split the menu between lunch and dinner as is customary. My kids is easy with food so he switched on the fly but after a tough day he wanted a Ruben that wasn't available. Service was great! Great beer selection. Started with zucchini frites for an app. Tasty and piping hot. They're working on recouping some stars with these zuke frites! We both ordered a classic burger medium. I got a house salad with parm & peppercorn dressing as a side. Hopefully they bring the salad before the burger.... Nope... I had to ask for it. Great salad so recoup a bit more. The burgers arrived and mine was over cooked. Medium should be pink on the inside. This burger was more on the done side. For the sake of timing getting to the game I gobbled it up. They did suggest a good beer and the waitress was nice and prompt bringing the bill. Overall, not too bad of an experience. This won't be my first choice for dinner but if someone suggestions it I will give it another try. Thanks!

Laney is an excellent server! She is very communicative with her tables. The ambiance of the restaurant is great and all of the staff is exceptionally nice. The food is amazing, the grilled cheese is my favorite entree to order!!

I have been to this place several times. They have great drinks and beer selection. Food is good but nothing out the ordinary. Restaurant is nice and have a good outdoor seating. Service is not the best. It seems to me that they have to either hire more people or do a better job scheduling. I went an early afternoon 3 weeks ago and I had to wait a long time for a waiter to come to my table, then another long time to have the food prepared and lastly I wanted to order a portion of fries after my meal and was told that the kitchen was super busy and could not take my order of fries. Management have to do some changes to improve the overall experience.

Food & presentation: 9.5/10 We had the Jekyll burger 10/10 with mac and cheese 9/10 . Fish tacos: 10/10 Light, crispy, spicy and flavorful I can eat this everyday. Bread pudding with vanilla ice cream: 6/10 The hot and cold contrasts is amazing. I can taste the cinnamon but the ice cream is so so. My hubby loved it Service: 10/10 Maria was our server and she is amazing and took well care of us. Ambiance: 10/10 Feels like you are in Ireland

Great experience in this hip new restaurant right in the heart of Baxter! Our burger and fish and chips were absolute perfection. Great drinks and atmosphere. Our server Ross was top notch with an obvious desire to provide a wonderful dining experience.

The food was excellent as always and Sage was fabulous, friendly, and provided great service.

Good beers, food meh, maybe because end of the night. Came specifically for the peppers that were just taken off the menu, so please update on-line the minute you change it. Table sticky, had to ask for tableware, never enjoy walking across wet mopped floors to exit. Burger and Chx sandwich not worth the price.

Our waitress was nice. The place wasn't crowded, only 8 tables with an average of 3 people. We got there about 12 and ordered within 5 minutes. It took almost 30 minutes to get a salad with steak and a cheeseburger. A table that was seated 10 minutes after us got their appetizer and meal before us. When I asked what was taking so long I was told the kitchen was backed up. They had 3 that I could see working in the kitchen. I guess I should have known better by the very slick/slippery floor.

Came in this evening, food was excellent. However just be sure when ordering off the cocktail menu that it is actually a cocktail and not a mocktail. ordered a watermelon mule off their cocktail list, server asked if I wanted titos , Im thinking an upgrade vs the house vodka. I agreed only to find out when the bill appeared they were mocktails with Tito's added (obv additional cost). so my watermelon mule turned into $20 cocktail. When the sever dropped off checks and acknowledge the reaction stated "well today is the first day the watermelon mules are mocktails". Wouldn't be an issue if everything would've been communicated correctly. Drink was great, food was tasty, service is 0/10. Not to mention not a manager in site to express concerns to.

Jekyll and Hyde is a great spot in downtown Matthews. They have outdoor and indoor seating, TVs to watch the latest game and a nice drink menu! We stopped in for lunch. We were seated right away and ordered draft Guinness and draft Prosecco. We ordered off of the lunch menu and got the seared ahi tuna, chicken tenders and grilled chicken wrap. The food came out pretty quickly and everything tasted really good! We will be back!

Had a wonderful lunch at Belmont, Sage was a wonderful server! Would recommend for a brunch on the patio.

just now NEW Stopped in after my hike yesterday starving. My intention was to have an app and a burger but it didn't happen. I sat at the bar and although she was polite enough, she wasn't very friendly. To start I ordered the ahi tuna app. The flavors were there but unfortunately the tuna was fully cooked and the homemade wonton were half burnt half raw and extra oily (try putting another basket on top of them to keep them sunken in the oil for better all around crispness). I picked around as much I could but I didn't eat half and by the end of it, I lost my appetite so I forfeited the burger. The place itself is super cute and spacious. They had it decked out for Halloween which was cool. Make sure to check out the library. Probably the coolest part of this place.

We got to this spot on a Monday around 5pm. No problem getting seating. Beer menu is huge! Something for everyone. Too many to choose from so we both opted to get flights. We loved them. Unfortunately they do not offer a happy hour menu. But we decided on a couple appetizers to share. We got the wings and the Ahi Tuna stack. Both were outstanding would definitely order again and will definitely be back here.

While traveling for work in the area decided to try as it popped up on yelp with a good rating. Let's just say I was blown away with food, service and ambiance of the place! Super fast service I had the JH salad and was amazing! The decor is super cool and the dry ice shots are crazy! Definitely going back when near.

Good food and atmosphere, solid service. Saw this place as we were driving through Matthews the other day and wanted to give it a try. My taste buds are happy I did! The Croquet Madame brings a great combination of sweet and savory between the French Toast, Ham, cheese, and egg. Good service was quick but drink service was a little slow during my visit. Overall we had a good experience and I look forward to enjoying another meal here soon.

Came here with group of friends from work. Our large group was seated outside on the patio and was given to the bartender who was already overwhelmed, as she was making drinks by herself for an entire restaurant. Service was extremely slow (not the bartenders fault, she should never have been given a 15 person party on the patio when she had so much going on inside...not sure what manager thought that was a good idea, but it wasn't fair to her or her guests). Food came out erratically and several members of our party either received their food after an insanely long wait (like an hour +) or did not receive their food at all. Because the bartender who was waiting on us was so busy, we we're basically left without any service for most of the time. Management never came over or acknowledged the absolutely awful dining experience, but our poor bartender apologized profusely (again she shouldn't have had to, because she should have never been put in that position. She did her best despite being put in a bad position). The food and drinks we did receive were really good, but not worth the 3 hour "dining" experience it took to get it. Management should've handled this far better than they did.
