Really enjoyed my two day stay. The ocean club hotel room was amazing. Large room, with separate seating area and porch that looked out on the dunes and water. The other hotel was historic and had a great southern feel. Had a fantastic drink in the hotel bar there, and enjoyed it in a nice leather chair looking at the architecture. Beach service with umbrella and chairs was key. They were easy to work with.

I was in charge of planning the company executive meeting and was recommended the Jekyll Island Club Resort. From the first phone call to the Sales team and planning the event to the moment we departed the resort, five-star experience across the board. The staff was incredibly accommodating, professional, and friendly. The grounds, meeting space, guest rooms were all gorgeous. The banquet food was delicious. It was truly a great experience! Highly recommend.

I cannot speak highly enough about this place. Service was excellent all around. Atmosphere was excellent. Yes their rooms are dated but that's what I went for! The ambiance was awesome - it felt like a 1920s club. The Wharf had the best sunset views. I would highly recommend to any and all travelers! I recommend everyone read "Creature from Jekyll Island" before visiting btw!

All of the staff at the Jekyll Island Club were outstanding. We attended a family reunion there with 63 family members and the dinners catered by the hotel were fabulous. The staff was so courteous and friendly. A special shout out to Kenneth Dallas who bartended most of our dinners- he had a huge smile and engaged in great conversation with us every night. We really appreciated him and are grateful to have had him with us many nights tending bar. Thank you for making our family reunion a great success😊

Google
Jekyll Island was a wonderful hotel Staff were amazing and consistently met or exceeded our needs. We went for our babymoon, and wanted a hotel that had service by the pool, historic area and offered the ability to do as much or little as one wanted. The Club area was beautiful, with the historic "cottages", spanish moss on the trees, and the sunset over the inlet/marsh was stunning. The Pantry, Pool Shack and the Grand Dining Room (breakfast) were all great. We didn't eat at the Wharf or the 80 Ocean Club. Lastly, there is $10 entrance fee to the island, you can buy a multiday pass, this allows for the support of the conservation of the island.

Did not stay there. Had the Sunday brunch. Expensive. No bread variety. No whole wheat. Scrambled eggs dry. Shrimps over cooked and we're not clean. Pork loin dry. Coffee not great. Sorry. I was disappointed. Went 10 years ago and it seemed much better. Fruits not great. One very important thing. Have the lift for handicapped working. I am unable to use stairs. There was a father who had to carry his adult son. Pick him up from wheelchair to take him up the stairs. Needs caring personnel.

We always have such a wonderful stay here. The front desk staff was very helpful and Mike was quick and gracious in responding to any issues. We rode bikes one day, sat by the pool one day, and played 18 holes. We ate at The Wharf, Zachary's, and had awesome breakfasts at the Ocean Club and in the hotel restaurant. It's always such a peaceful and relaxing experience.

We just had a wonderful 2 night stay at the Jekyll Ocean Club with our 2 kids. The room is very spacious and great for a family of 4. The pool and beach area were very peaceful and nothing felt overcrowded. All the staff were very friendly. We rented bikes for a day and went around the island on the many bike paths. We stopped over at their other property the Island Club and used the pool, which was great to cool off. We had breakfast at the Ocean Club and Island Club, which were both great. The Island Club is a buffet in a beautiful historic setting. Kids also did s’mores one night at the island club by the pool area. We also had dinner at the Wharf. Great cocktails and scenery and had an great view of a beautiful sunset. We also had dinner at the Ocean Club and it was delicious as well!

Yelp
Went here for our work retreat and though things had changed a little from the previous times there, it was still a nice experience. You feel like you traveled back in time at this beautifully kept historic place. I had a smaller room than the previous time, but it still nice. I like the special touches they had for us. The limited pop-up lunch thing they recently started was a little confusing. They said it was in the Alexander which we thought meant the bar area. It's really in the sunroom off of the main dining room. The food was good! They also offer a limited menu for dinner in the main dining room, which was something we had wanted to do, but we made plans to eat somewhere else. The boss luckily was able to dine there the following evening. He got a last minute reservation thanks to the great staff. Speaking of staff, there was a gentleman that helped me at the front desk and I saw him all over the hotel. It was great seeing his friendly face throughout our stay.

Yelp
Kinda mixed feelings, definitely a step back in time. The suite with fireplace, was a bit of a let down. Unfortunately, there was a smell of mold in the room. The fitness center room was terrible, as the smell of mold is so bad you can hardly take a breath. Luckily, on better weather days access to bikes and the path around the area was nice. The rattan coffee table in our room had a ton of tiny ants/bugs, even though we had no food for them. Plus flies in the bathroom when we checked in. Ate a few times at the Pantry. The broccoli cheese soup tasted more like mounds of salt than soup. In Feb/March with this being the only place to get food it would be great if they added some fresh fruit or healthy options. There was a lot of chocolate though.

Yelp
Place was absolutely gorgeous. The hotels located right on the beach. It was priced way below what it should be. The rooms were clean and updated. Definitely a hidden gem. We went in the off-season, so it was a little, rainy and windy, but it was really nice especially to be able to walk on the beach with wind and a slight drizzle. If you're staying in Jekyll Island, this is the best place to stay.

Yelp
E X P E R I E N C E I absolutely love the ambiance of this hotel. it has an old world country elegance to it. theres nice classic music playing in and outside the hotel. it's extremely well kept, hedging, grass, florals. no rusting on any of the outdoor gates. walk ways are also well maintained. I'm so impressed. so much land to just stroll, chat and enjoy. I did not stay here- was here for the day (georgia sea turtle center and for meals). P E T S we didn't see anywhere that we couldn't bring pets so we brought the pup. we ofc brought our own water bowls, poop bags, etc. and pup is very well behaved. all the employees seemed happy to see our pup. just fyi! there are no poop bags around or designated dog trash areas so we doubled bagged then trashed in a more secluded trash can on the property S E R V I C E every employee that has walked by has smiled, said hi or nodded. that basic humanly respect and friendliness.

Yelp
Top notch! Very classy place with very polite and attentive staff. Grounds are spotless and well managed. Lots of historical things to see, plan ahead to give yourself plenty of time to see everything. This place was designed 100+ years ago as a getaway to slow down and disconnect from the world, and it still does just that. I only spent the day, but rest assured I am planning my next visit as we speak! Highly recommended!

Yelp
Writing this review is difficult. The Jekyll Island Club has long been one of my favorite spots on earth. For nearly 25 years, I've made an annual pilgrimage to its Spanish moss-draped, oak-strewn grounds and steep-gabled cottages. The service was always top-notch, and relaxation was the order of the day. But alas, a couple of years ago, the property was sold, and the rates were promptly doubled (it seems they've again come down to a sustainable level). Conferences, once a staple, became a distant memory due to prohibitive costs. I returned this past weekend to stroll the grounds and reminisce about the place I adore. They've spruced things up a bit--fountains now burble where before they lay dormant, and it seems they're working on some of the cottages with an eye toward offering them as accommodations one day. Yet the resort's most basic function has fallen by the wayside: service. At the local Wharf restaurant, we waited at the hostess stand for almost ten minutes without a soul offering assistance. No fewer than six staff members breezed by, not so much as a nod or "someone will be right with you." When the hostess finally emerged from the kitchen, she didn't apologize for the wait but instead greeted us with a blank stare and a robotic "How many?"--no smile, no warmth. After lunch, we took a turn about the grounds only to find the pool closed. If this were a municipal pool, I might understand it being shut until Memorial Day, but this is a resort! I was told it only opens on weekends only until Memorial Day, then fully opens afterward. In past years, I've visited in early May and basked by the pool throughout the week. But not this time. A resort should cater to its clientele, particularly if it lacks direct beach access. Meanwhile, over at the King and Prince on St. Simons, friends found beach chairs aplenty and a dozen children frolicking in the pools. They understand their mission. The Jekyll Island Club seems to have misplaced theirs.

Yelp
For the breakfast buffet- bad experience. Beautiful setting. Great vibe. Bad service. Buffet was not maintained and ran out of many items. Sounds like it's a frequent occurrence.

Yelp
During the end of Covid; no one picked up garbage, made beds, cleaned bathroom's, kitchen, no towels, vacuumed, or anything for three days for same price they charge before Covid; Totally stupid on there part; plus checking in was a nightmare; me & my daughter had two rooms cost thousands of dollars for 3/4 days; total greed & Averice' Never go there again nor recommend them & go out of my way to steer friends, contacts, and to never go there. Yelp
Very good, but very particular experience. The grounds are gorgeous old south plantation with colonial styled buildings strewn among huge old oaks draped in Spanish moss. The quiet and star filled skies make nights here special for city folk like me. Walks through the grounds won me many romance points with the gf, especially at night. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. Not at the clearly 5 star level, but attractive in a quaint, southern style. The bar area attracts in a very old boy club and library sort of way. The chocolate martinis were great even if they are what I would call "girly" (go ahead, troll me for that). I had two. Cute that they have lots of board games in the library and a mahjong night once a week. Food is classic American, not exciting or special, but satisfying. Service is polite even if perhaps a bit too obsequious. The gym is dinky though. The main qualification is that the vibe is, how to put this euphemistically, "mature". Don't be surprised to see your grandparents' travel group here. But still a lovely setting that delivers a nice experience.

Yelp
Purchased the Thursday High Tea experience and compared to a local tea room, very poor quality of savories and sweets. Tea is off the grocery shelf, sort of expected at least a Republic of Tea brand or nice English teas. Food off a food delivery truck. A dress code was posted and you had to agree to it before checking out, however, half the people there had on blue jeans & athletic shoes. It would have been nice to dress more comfy based on these items being listed as a "no entry." It was clear that the dress code is a joke. One group (3 wearing jeans & tees) had a crying toddler and did not take them out until we were almost done with our experience. Who wants to get dressed up for tea and sit with a crying toddler running around the room that NO ONE addressed! They were also getting ready for weddings during our "reserved" tea time, the wedding party busted up in the dining room for a photo shoot. Again, ruined the atmosphere. This experience is not one we would not repeat. Jekyll Island Club, there was a time when you were better than this. After patronizing for over 30 years, it may be time to find a place worthy of the name and history. The quality has left the building.

Yelp
I took my mother the Grand Dining Room for mother's day brunch on Sunday and besides the bar and the appeal of how the restaurant was decorated we had a terrible time. On our reservation we requested a highchair which we had to wait more than 20 minutes for and remind them twice. the prime rib was overcooked, the salmon at the station was flavorless and old as it was not appealing for anyone to request it, my significant other only ate the eggs and mashed potatoes, my mother was sick before leaving. It was not worth spending $500 for 4 people. I will not be returning for another mothers day.

Yelp
The Pool House @ Jekyll Great Girl's Weekend again during the Shrimp and Grits Festival. We stayed at Soucy which is a perfect location for the festival's entertainment (I hate telling my secret since we couldn't get it this year). The festival is amazing: the tasting tent could implement some improvements to get the rules out (like maybe hand out the rules when you hand out the tickets). We recommend that you bring umbrellas or something to cover yourself from the sun if you go and hang out at the shrimp and grit tasting area (there isn't much shade). We decided to chill out at The Pool House in the shade where we had attentive service and ended up splitting some burgers (they are always delish). COREY made creative drinks, LEVI is a hard worker (real asset) and KENSLEY was a hoot to take pictures for us. We love MIKE HOPPEY and look forward to seeing him this November on our anniversary.

Yelp
We stayed here for two nights over the summer and had a blast. Check-in was easy when we arrived late on Friday night. Parking was also easy in the hotel lot and was close to our room, which had been upgraded to one with a sunroom sitting area. This area was nice and overlooked the front of the hotel, including croquet court. The room was old, but had class and style. There was a non-working fireplace that looked good though. The bathroom had been remodeled and the shower had great water pressure. The pool area was my favorite part of the property. It was old-school and had a 9 ft. deep end. There is also a bike trail and the staff was super friendly.

Yelp
This place takes you back to an affluent time in our history before the Great Depression and WWII. You can experience first hand how the wealthy of the wealthiest lived as you are surrounded by luxurious vacation homes. The Jekyll Island Club Resort has been renovated with lovely rooms. The bathroom products & towels were great. The Pantry, a small snack bar, served minimal food at pretty high prices. The bar was small but plenty of comfortable seating with games & historical photos. There are many activities to choose from walking paths, bikes, pool, & work out facilities. You may get invited to yoga. You have an option between valet parking & self parking. ****BE aware that there is a DAILY $10 fee to get onto the island that is not covered in your resort fees. Take a historical tour, visit the gift shops: learn about this amazing time.

Yelp
I love historic hotels, and the Jekyll Island Club does not disappoint. Please don't come here and complain that the original wood floors are noisy when people walk on them, or that the doors don't close perfectly. These homes were built in the 1800s, for goodness sake. The last home in the club was built in 1928! The grounds are absolutely gorgeous. We spent hours simply walking, but we certainly could have biked, as well. Our room, in Crane Cottage, was lovely and spacious. I would have liked to have a sofa, instead of two chairs placed in front of a small television. Awkward, and in no way romantic. The patio was a nice size, but could have used loungers in addition to two chairs. Food was, unfortunately, rather terrible. At breakfast we had an hour and 15 minute wait. Why??? My breakfast egg white omelet was cooked in so much butter and oil that I had to send it back. Our shrimp and grits were so salty, I had to abandon the idea. The food at the Wharf, which I remember as a fantastic oyster bar, was barely bar food. My caesar salad had parmesan from a shake can! Gross. The formal dining room at the clubhouse is currently not serving dinner, so you'll have to find another option, and there aren't many on the island. We ate at the Jekyll Ocean Club, where the shimp came out frozen. The bar is lively, but beware it closes relatively early, at 10 or 11pm, depending on the night. Thank goodness, as the last time I stayed here, nothing was open past 9pm. Patrons can get loud, and the wood echoes, so beware if you like peace and quiet. The bartenter had a great selection of whiskey. She was rather testy at the end of the evenings, which I suppose is normal, considering weddings, drunk patrons, etc. All in all, I find the Jekyll Island Club to be a good value for the $230 a night that we paid. We originally only booked one night on the way back from Amelia Island, but extended when reservations called and offered us 30% off of the regular rate, plus a room upgrade. Would I spend $500 a night to stay there? No. But it appeared priced well, especially considering how much renovations much cost.

Yelp
The Club has a 135 year history of tradition -- I used to go every December and January. The new Noble House management is only interested in corporate events and are not honoring decades of holiday and Club Anniversary special rates. It's a beautiful, now perpetually overpriced, Corporate affair.

Yelp
Popped in for a drink with my smokin hot German stew while waiting for our table at The Wharf. My general observation was the place was short staffed and tables all over (porch/back porch) were not bussed. My 3 star frustration comes from the bar itself (The Alexander). The dude who we later found out was some kind of manager was tending the bar because of a no show. He was definitely in the weeds. Had to wait 30 mins for one drink. And on top of that, he had to leave to wash martini glasses for our drink before he could proceed to make the drink. Others were waiting. So that, coupled with the dishes/glasses on the tables sure would make me pissed if I was spending $700/night there. Drinks were good tho. So was the sunset out on the porch. Can't beat that!

Yelp
Poor management, poor response to customer issues. We made a booking thru a third party and the hotel refused to honor it because it was to low if a room rate. We were traveling at the time and the resort basically left us stranded and scrabbling for last minute reservations elsewhere. Management was aware of the situation and refused to respond to emails with any explanation or offer of a compromise.

Yelp
My wife and I visited this resort after a tour of the nearby historic district. We walked around the grounds and decided to sit at the bar outside the grand dining room for a drink. We arrived right at 5pm and there was one other couple at the bar. The bartender asked them about their bill and then proceeded to the side of the bar to (I guess?) process chits or something. My wife asked her for a cocktail menu and got no response / no reaction. Similarly there was no acknowledgement of us when we sat down. My wife went to the ladies room and I asked the bartender two more times for cocktail menus and again got no reaction. I was beginning to think she had a hearing problem. Another man who worked at the establishment appeared and I asked him for a cocktail menu. He came closer to me and announced he didn't really speak English so I repeated my request and he responded with "you'd like a drink menu?" to which I replied "YES!" He then, after some difficulty, got the attention of the bartender and asked her for a drink menu which she produced while STILL not acknowledging I was sitting there, even when I loudly said "THANK YOU" as I took the menu from the man. She then went back to her "chits" for a minute and then left the bar! At this point my wife returned and I told her we should leave. After a minute or two my wife agreed. As we were leaving the bartender returned with some wine bottles. I'm still not sure how she totally missed that we were there. I guess she has hearing and vision problems. Pathetic.

Yelp
The place is beautiful and historic, a true gem of the south and of national history. However, the event management is absolutely horrendous. The event coordinator lied to us and disappeared the entire weekend of our on-site event. The staff she left behind to set up (who were wonderful people) had no direction and no idea what we had even planned, plans that had been gone over multiple times spanning months in advance. She left them no direction, didn't answer phone calls, and when she did call back, she left me in tears. To add insult to injury, many of my personal items used for the event were returned to me damaged or completely broken while in possession of the staff. Is the hotel worth a visit/stay...yes. Should you hold an event there? Absolutely not.

Yelp
The resort and grounds were absolutely stunning. The architecture, the ambiance, the moss covered oak trees added so much character to this already gorgeous resort. The history of it all made you feel like you had been transported back in time to when the wealthiest families were members here and had arrived by boat. All the rooms were beautiful. The old pictures on the walls told so many stories. The old cottages and homes on the grounds were stunning. The crocket field was one of the focal points with families taking the game seriously. There was a great restaurant at the marina named the Wharf with a great bar and patio area. There's lots of shops and even a sea turtle sanctuary on site. There's a horse drawn carriage that takes you around the grounds with a guide that gives you the history of the island. The bar inside the hotel came alive in the evenings and there were so many places to sit and relax. Lounge chairs, rocking chairs and firepits. The only bad experience we had was the morning of check out. The paperwork said 12 noon check out so we slept in, but housekeeping knocked on our door at both 9am and 10am. This woke us up earlier than we wanted to be up and made us feel rushed and frustrated us.

Yelp
Jekyll Island Club, along with the beautiful cottages once owned by the rich and famous, is a lovely historic hotel. We recently stayed in the Crane Cottage. This historic cottage was built in 1917 for Richard Teller Crane, Chicagoan plumbing parts mogul, and his family. This beautiful Italianate cottage is considered the most lavish of all with its gardens, courtyard and fountains. On our recent stay we were assigned Room 5204, Crane Cottage. I have posted photos of the bathroom, mainly shower stall, that appeared to be filthy with mildew. The photos speak a thousand words. It appears as if they have tried to whiten the mildew with caulking. Additionally, there are about five different types of tile in this bathroom. I'm hoping that renovations and upgrades, in the near future, occur in Crane Cottage first. Also, our room rate was $270.00. A posted plaque, by the front door of Crane Cottage, gives credit to those involved in the most recent renovation in 2001. It is my hope that this beautiful, grand lady will receive a bit of a facelift.

Yelp
If you're on Jekyll Island or if you find yourself anywhere near it, the Jekyll Island Club Resort is a must to visit. It's so totally steeped in history and so flawlessly preserved you really do feel like you've been transported some 130 years back in time. That was when the Jekyll Island Club Resort was playground and social gathering place of America's rich and famous with family names like Rockefeller, Vanderbilt and Pulitzer. It was a club coined as being "...the richest, the most exclusive, the most inaccessible club in the world." I've been fortunate enough get a room here and found it to be exceptionally well appoint and a total delight. Though a Clubhouse Deluxe room can be pricey I thought it not out of line as the value was there. I also found the room portion of the club staffed by exceptionally well-trained service oriented professionals. But, the best is the dining. In my book, the Grand Dining Room of the Jekyll Island Club Resort is the best restaurant on the island. That, in part, is because there aren't any really over the top fine restaurants on Jekyll Island. Which, though this one is good, makes it the best by default. One of the big pluses of the place is that it is indeed grand. It's a throwback to the old world of wealth and elegance. Every detail of it is exudes class. However, though most eat in the main part of the dining area, I prefer the Peggy Hughes room which is an alcove like smaller area, round in shape with a fireplace and fan structured wood ceiling adjacent to the main dining area. I've dined here several times. The service I received has always been top notch and the food, though not particularly exceptional or innovative, very good and tops in quality ingredients. During my most recent lunch I started off with their "Southern Fried Green Tomatoes" accompanied by a rooster (I believe termed from rooster peppers) remoulade, goat cheese and a tomato salsa. The batter fried tomatoes themselves were very good, prepared the typical way found throughout Georgia and the Carolinas, and with the remoulade, it made for a very good dish. For the main part of my lunch I had their "Shrimp & Grits" which were prepared rather like you'd find in New Orleans coupled with an andouille sausage, lots of scallion and garlic; totally delicious. I really found the food of the Grand very good, but for me the best part was the majestic atmosphere of the place. For that part of it, priceless, and the Grand just can't be beat.

Yelp
Look this is one of our best "GROWN UP PLACES" to go and relax. Take a Bottle or 2 of wine and wait for the sun to go down and sit on the big porch in a rocker and sip. Sit in the Piano lounge and listen to some great piano music, Have dinner in the Grand dining room (Bring a Jacket for Men) and enjoy history in this very nice venue. Too Fancy there are at least 3 other places on the grounds and within walking distance to go and have a more relaxed dinner. Then when you have finished walk the bungalows and recall the billionaires and millionaires from NY that would come here for the winters and walk those same steps. Tress that were here when they were here, buildings etc. If you can ride one of the bikes just a couple of miles away you will find the beach by bike or take your car. There is always a lot going on if you choose or nothing if you choose. The rooms are really cute and "The Bar" is wonderful little place to have a drink and relax. The grounds are beautiful and romantic. Slow down for a weekend and go and do nothing in a special place. The hotel rooms are wonderful and there is Lawn Bowling in front but make sure you wear customary White! lol

Yelp
First the place is beautiful and nicely done. But, when they renovated the bathrooms, the water was not properly connected, so that the rooms had no hot water. This was a known problem, so why wasn't if fixed before we checked in and discovered this the hard way? The furniture was cracked and a light bulb was burned out (see photos.) I reported the light bulb; was told it would be replaced; but it never was. We stayed two nights, and were told that our room would not be made up until we checked out because of COVID. Reasons given: not all the staff was vaccinated; the laws of Georgia and the policy of the owners did not allow them to ask who was vaccinated. When I pressed the point, cleaners wearing masks were sent to make up the room. At dinner at their Mexican restaurant the night before, the restaurant was packed. There was no social distancing, and wait staff were maskless.

Yelp
We were visiting Jekyll Island for a day trip. We decided to bike around the island then stop at the club for a cocktail and a bite to eat. After walking through the door we were overwhelmed with the history and architectural beauty of the resort. We ended up getting a room and staying the night. The staff was extremely accommodating. They gave us toothbrush kits, and robes. We stayed in this adorable room with an attached enclosed patio. Before retiring we sat downstairs by the fire, and had cocktails and appetizers. It was just a magical day.

Kai A.

Yelp
very disappointing... had high hopes but communication was poor, room extremely dusty (even showed pictures I had taken). I complained and stated wanted to speak to manager and he never bothered to call or reach out to me. Never again

Hugh S.

Yelp
1/2 full, 1/2 empty. Very mixed results, probably due to state government presence throughout Jekyll Island. 1/2 full: neat history, beautiful property, low key vibe; friendly, helpful staff. 1/2 empty: shabby-chic, expensive room but no housekeeping, lousy food, poor communication. This could be a great spot with a dose of professional management. If a group spends $50-60k during non-peak times, maybe some property representative should acknowledge the choice. Not too hard to properly stock coffee shop for Saturday morning demand. Most places charging 450-600 per night provide towels, clean rooms, empty trash, supply free morning coffee, stock newspapers. Service delivery generally underperforms the potential of the property.

Yelp
My mother, sister, and I stayed at Jekyll Island Club Resort over the New Years and had a great time. They have dog friendly accommodations so my sister could bring her pup Francine along for the adventure. The resort is beautiful, lots of walking trails and gorgeous views of the water. Would definitely recommend going around the holidays because the weather is perfect (not too hot) and they have an extensive Christmas lights display up among the oak trees. We felt very safe with their Covid precautions as well. We liked is so much that my mom brought our step-dad back for Valentines Day

Yelp
I have always wanted to go to this resort and was so happy that we did. We decided to spend New Years Day/night there. It was beautiful with the oaks and the Christmas tree all lit up. Sadly since we made our plans last minute we weren't able to enjoy dinner at any of the nice restaurants but we did get some excellent Georgia fried shrimp and the love shack which was in a grocery store that also had a bar (wine and beer) and souvenirs. The next morning we got up to watch the sunrise at driftwood beach which was incredible.

Yelp
This place is paradise. Air conditioning worked great in first floor of San souci and got to have my dog. Long large non crowded pools. I didn't see any kids, maybe time of year? Plenary of space, the antique styled room was just gorgeous.

Yelp
We had a noisy experience on our last visit ( we have been coming there for over 20 years) with the lawn crew early in the morning. We wrote a review and the Manager responded with a voucher. We then got cancelled by Hurricane Dorian and displaced by a wedding, so Taylor upgraded our room to the water side. It was gorgeous! We loved the separate sitting area with fold out couch , the room darkening shades, balcony with a beautiful view and access to the beach property. Amazing pools ! The greatest compliment was from my grandson, thank you for The Disney channel! We hated to leave. Thank you for your hospitality and thank you Steve for the wonderful send off ! We will be back ! Great night sleep No noise

Yelp
Simply put this is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. At first glance the property is beautiful! Gorgeous architecture and perfectly landscaped grounds. But that is about it. Our room was filthy, the shower was so dirty that I thought the glass door was frosted. Upon further investigation I realized that it wasn't frosted, it was caked with so much soap scum that you couldn't see through it. The pillows on the bed were decorative pillows that had been crammed into a standard pillow case and the list goes on. In addition, for such a "luxury resort" with palatial properties, they should spend some investment on the fitness center. The fitness center consisted of a dark cold room in the basement with one piece system that belonged in a home gym. It also had some free weights but there were clearly some missing so it was not a complete set. If the rest of my experience at this hotel had been better these are all things that I could have looked past. Unfortunately this was just the tip of the iceberg. The service at this hotel is absolutely terrible. Especially at the lobby bar. The older female bartender should not by any means be in a client facing position at this hotel. One evening in particular she was quite difficult and unprofessional. There were two weddings staying at the hotel and many of the guests had come into the bar area to get away from the bugs outside and to warm up. The bartender clearly is not used to dealing with anymore then one customer every other day. She was easily overwhelmed and became angry and belligerent with the guests. When the bar closed at 10pm, she stormed through the room demanding that everyone leave. I don't know about you but I have never stayed in a hotel that closes a packed bar at 10pm and then tells guest to "get out" her words exactly. She even had the nerve to call a state trooper that was clearly a friend of hers to disperse the hotel guests. When we went to the front desk to complain they informed us they she had done this on her own without consulting with the front desk or manager. Luckily, my husband and many of his siblings are successful attorneys that quickly debunked all of the alleged complaints from the bartender. This could have easily ruined the evening but since we did not want to cause drama for the bride and groom we all shook it off and finished the evening on a positive note. To summarize if you are thinking of staying at this hotel or possibly using it as a venue for your wedding I would highly recommend you go somewhere else.

Yelp
There are places that affect us more profoundly than we could possibly imagine, especially if we're not expecting it. The Jekyll Island Club is one of these places. Several years ago, when scouting new vacation spots, my husband and I consulted a book touting places to see before you die - you know the one. We opened the book to a random page and found the Golden Isles. After reading about the history of the area, we settled on visiting Jekyll Island. Having visited twice now, I can honestly say that this is my happy place. The island itself is, in a word, magic. You're greeted by live oaks as soon as you cross the causeway, and it feels like you've entered a simpler, yet grander world. Then the clubhouse comes into view. Stop holding your breath. It's real. I won't go into the history of the building or grounds, as there is plenty of information online should you wish to find it (and you should). It's sufficient to say that the building is old, and there are quirks. The doors don't seal out all noise or light from the hallway, but that simply proves that there is life outside your four walls. The water pressure in the newly renovated bathroom isn't necessarily what I'd call great, but who wants to be showering under a firehose anyway? And the porches (if you are lucky enough to get a room with one) can be a little chilly, or hot depending. Somehow, these little quirks simply add to the mystique of this grande dame. She's an older lady who knows who she is and doesn't need to put on airs. I, personally, love her for it. During Covid-19, food services are limited, and that's an unfortunate thing on Jekyll. You can find grab and go items at The Pantry, but the only real on-property option for dine-in is at The Wharf. Although I love this place like my grandma's house during Christmas, the food choices at the hotel and on the island as a whole are...lacking. Don't come here looking to be on a culinary journey, because it will be a very short trip. Once things are allowed to open at full capacity again, I'm sure things will improve, but it's still a big hole in an otherwise fulfilling experience. I was hesitant to even write a review, because I want, in some ways, to keep the Jekyll Island Club all to myself. Like a jealous lover, I don't want to share her with anyone else. Will she change if she becomes the talk of the town again? Will she still feel like she's there for only me? Ultimately, I know that much like the stars of the golden age she was once a part of, she needs the adoration of the masses to survive and to thrive. I'm willing to share my happy place if it keeps that happy place alive.

Yelp
We booked a stay for our family of five- and were not told that three weddings were taking place the same weekend. The music is so loud the floor is vibrating and the guests are rowdy. It is not relaxing, nor is it family friendly. We have stayed here before and had a wonderful time, but it it truly unacceptable now. None of us were able to sleep and the hotel offered nothing other than a shrug of the shoulders when we asked them when things would quiet down.

Yelp
A beautiful setting and fantastic opportunities to take very well done historical tours of the grounds. Our room in the Cherokee Cottage was lovely. The grounds and the trees are magnificent as well. So why three stars!?!? One word: service. And possibly simply because no one can be found to work. Our room was fantastic but we arrived to find an overflowing trash can and a giant plastic bag of dirty towels beside the door. Ok, we can overlook that, let's blame it on COVID and a shortage of staff. But when it was still there the next evening and we had to kick it to the side to enter our room I became less enamored. Finally my husband hiked it to the linens and cleaning closet so it was not in our way. Unfortunately that meant we had no trash can for our bathroom. Of course, as has become standard it seems, the room was never made up during our stay. I can understand this is due to staffing issues, but then perhaps the price of the room should reflect the lack of services available. The linens and room appointments were lovely and of a beautiful quality. I do love that. Another big negative is that the dining room is only open for breakfast at this time. The menu is nice, and the service very friendly. The problem is that other than The Wharf (very good!) there are no other on property "sit down" dining options. We did head over to the restaurant at the Jekyll Island Ocean Resort and enjoyed a really nice dinner there. You can find great food options, but there are not many places on the island. Fortunately St. Simons Island has several great restaurants but you need to get your reservations in early. Or be prepared to wait a bit. The pool is beautiful and well maintained with lots of towels and longe chairs and the bar at the pool is great. Inside the clubhouse here are fantastic places to "hole up" and read with a cocktail from the bar at your side. Beautiful library type feel to the place and just outside the veranda has super comfortable seating areas under spinning fans. The music on the veranda we found to be a bit loud and distracting as we came for the peaceful vibe of the place but that is entirely a personal taste issue with us. Overall it is an amazing and unique place. Unfortunately because of its steep price point I think it is definitely not a great value. And obviously the lack of staffing causes the quest to have several small inconveniences such as seldom answered phones when trying to make reservations etc that mar the experience somewhat. I would love to visit again when it is possible to experience the club as I am sure the management desires it to be run. However at this very high price and with the current issues I don't think we will make the 41/2 hour drive and pay the price for "not quite" the experience we wanted. At some point when the room price is $400, you have to say "Sorry, really good effort, but not enough".

Yelp
This historic resort was the best. Had an incredible time and visit. Attended a weekend wedding and the memories are amazing. The service and the food were exceptional. The property was out of this world and small and quaint as it should be. Look forward to a future visit for a reunion or special occasion.

Yelp
We spent a week here and had the most wonderful time even while the country is in the midst of the COVID-19 craze. The rooms are spacious, clean and the staff are all very friendly and courteous. We stayed in the Cherokee Cottage and loved it. A beautiful cottage with lots of charm. We ate at the Wharf, the Pantry and breakfast in the Grand Dining hall and all were a first rate experience. I highly recommend the property and look forward to returning.

Yelp
My family and I come to Jekyll Island every year and have stayed at the club nearly exclusively for the past 30 years. For the past 10 years nearly every visit includes multiple room and customer service issues. For this most recent stay here's a summary of what we experienced: - Poorly communicated COVID restrictions. It was not made clear to us that the best way to communicate with guest services is through text nor did we understand the room restrictions regarding housekeeping. Maybe ensuring that your guests have texting capabilities and if they do, send reminders regarding the restrictions. The staff, especially one in the pantry, tended to always have their mask below their nose. - Poor customer service. We were constantly greeted by unpleasant and unhelpful employees - whether working in the pantry, the hotel shop, or housekeeping. When I asked a pantry employee about whether the pastries were fresh, she said: "I don't know I wasn't here yesterday." And, the pastries were really stale. Also, my mother, sister and I had to ask numerous times for toilet paper. In addition, we have stayed here more times than I can remember including a wedding in 2000 but we are always treated like complete strangers. The staff behaves as though they are doing us a favor by merely existing but not there to be friendly or helpful. The only exception that I can recall is Sherry, a concierge who, sadly, is no longer with the club. When checking out I shared my concerns with Ryan, who was very nice and removed one of our pool cafe charges, which was nice but doesn't make up for the nearly $6,000 my family spent for three rooms and a four-night stay. - Poor quality. Our newly renovated room in San Souci had a beautiful bathroom; however, around the toilet was filthy and my husband cleaned it, the bathroom door would also not close, and the decorative pillow on the bed was absolutely filthy. My mother's sun porch had a heating vent that was completely rusted and the vents around the pool were also rusted out. For the positives, the pool staff was fantastic and we had two wonderful dinners at The Wharf. We also did an historic house tour and loved it. It's also great to be able to spend a beach day at the Ocean Club - the beach set up with umbrellas, towels and chairs is terrific. Overall, the club is overpriced and frustrating. I would recommend visiting for day trips but staying elsewhere.

Yelp
Beautiful historic property! We loved this hotel and the charm that comes with it. The grounds are expansive and offer an opportunity to walk around under moss-draped trees and learn about the people that created the Island Club. I loved that the hotel had tons of various (and comfortable) outdoor seating areas to choose from. Plus there is a pool, croquet court, a nice library/game room, and bar. They have a few dining options such as The Pantry for quick grab-and-go items, the Pool House for dining by the pool, and the Grand Dining Room which is great for breakfast as well as a nice dinner. Plus they have The Wharf restaurant right across the street. Prices at all locations are really reasonable for a resort. Another great benefit of this property is the access you get to their sister property on the beach. There is a complimentary shuttle that runs between the two (it takes 5 minutes to get there) and you can utilize the beach chairs, towels, and beach umbrellas there for free! Plus their pool, bar, and restaurant. And I liked the Island Club property WAY better than the beach club property, so I am glad we booked where we did. I wish the hotel had some information about the parking situation somewhere on their website. Or at least signage directing you to the parking lot (which is free!). After driving 12 hours and getting there after dark, it is a little annoying to drive around trying to figure out where to park. I can't understand why they wouldn't post this info on their website like every other hotel does. Also, I was surprised and a little disappointed that the staff, while very friendly, were rather unprofessional. This hotel REALLY needs a customer service training program - most of the staff seemed to have no idea what they were doing, how to respond to guests, or how to present themselves. It was like it was everyone's first week there and no one had any hospitality experience. Very strange. Finally - a tip. When you drive into the island, you have to pay a toll. You are given the choice of a daily pass or a 7-day pass. No one drives around the island checking this, so if you are staying a few days and not leaving the island, you can just buy the daily pass.

Yelp
We stayed here a few weeks ago for a work conference. I've stayed on Jekyll many times but never at the Club Resort. It is a unique and nice experience. We stayed in one of the cottages without an elevator but were told in advance and asked if it was okay. We loved it! It is an old historic property but very nostalgic! The amenities are great and staff (except one) were all wonderful as well! Pretty much everything you need is right there....bike rentals, fitness center, nice pool, gift shops, post office, restaurants. They also have beach property that the shuttle will take you to and will provide beach chairs and umbrellas. We didn't get to take advantage of that unfortunately. Shuttle will take you anywhere on the island though. Highly recommend this if you are looking for a unique beach experience!

Yelp
We decided to stay for two nights on Jekyll Island. Originally we had booked the villas by the sea- a different hotel, and it was AWFUL. It was dirty and dusty and we were so disappointed. We could not stay there. We were already on the island so now we had to find somewhere else to stay. We hopped onto hotels.com and found Jekyll Island Club Resort. We found a better rate on there than the resort offered and we decided to go for it. It was the best.decision.ever. When we arrived the staff were incredibly friendly and hospitable. The lobby was stunning! We went to our room which had amazing air conditioning, it was clean, had a cool shower and an alarm clock with USB ports. The grounds of the resort were just breathtaking. There was a lot fire pit by the pool which we sat by every night. There were little shops all around the resort which were great, we were able to by sweets, wine, and apparel. The sea turtle center was right next door, which of course we went to our first morning there! They have a shuttle that takes you ANYWHERE you request on the island AND picks you up when you are ready! There is a grand dining room on premises- a fancy restaurant that has a dress code, a little eatery called the pantry with AWESOME coffee, pastry's and sandwiches, a seafood restaurant right on the water and room service! They offer carriage rides and train rides around the historic area! This place is stunning, the staff are SO friendly, and it has everything you could ever need!!!! 10/10 we would stay forever if we could afford it!!!! We will definitely be going back!

Yelp
This is my third stay at the resort. Each time we discover something new. We were met with sincere compassion through one of the guest relations staff members, Patina, during our most recent stay. Patina learned that we were coming on the trip to heal from a recent loss of a family member. She went out of her way to make sure that we were able to relax and rejuvenate during our stay. I will be forever grateful for her for her care for others and will return again to the resort because of her customer care.

Yelp
The Jekyll Island Resort is a wonderful old place. The main restaurant is fun for breakfast. The buffet is ample and the menu offers a variety of meals. The service was a bit slow considering it was not crowded. Those who ordered buffet were almost finished by the time plated meals were served. The food was fine, and the atmosphere makes up for the pace.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Visitors literally feel like they've stepped back in time. I wish we had longer than one night. The room was awesome, very spacious and incredibly clean. The room came with a small refrigerator (large enough for a few beers/snacks). Jacuzzi worked as intended, and the water temps in the shower and faucets was spot-on (it's amazing how many resort hotels fail at this simple point). The bar was very well stocked. The bourbon and scotch selections were vast, and the local beer offerings were more than adequate. The bartender was well informed and able to make great suggestions. Breakfast the morning of checkout was phenomenal. You would think it would be difficult to differentiate between breakfast buffets, but this one was one of the best I've ever had. There were the staple eggs/bacon/sausage/hash/biscuits and gravy, but they were all elevated to a level I've never seen before. We can't wait to go back!

Yelp
This place is gorgeous, relaxing, and the staff is phenomenal! Every one was really professional and helpful. We stayed in the Sans Sousi in a king suite. It was beautiful. The room had a real wood burning fireplace, hardwood floors, and a balcony. There was also a walk-in closet. It was extremely spacious. We ate at the Pub and the food was good. However, there weren't many options and the prices pretty pricey. Three drinks (Heineken and two soft drinks) costs $12. But hey, I guess that's to be expected. Otherwise, the breakfast buffet was very good and we enjoyed the beautiful views of the grounds and my son loved the heated outdoor pool. The hotel is about a mile from the beach and the hotel offers a shuttle. I can't wait to go back and hopefully stay a little longer!!

Yelp
Gorgeous resort area! We stayed here for a wedding and it truly felt I was on vacation. There a bunch of cottages/homes to view, a lot of history to walk through, shops to visit, restaurants within walking distance; this place has it all! The staff took great care of us and were extremely helpful and kind. Highly recommend staying here!

Yelp
Can't say enough good things about this place. Everyone that works there was friendly and helpful and the bartender at the ocean club was AWESOME. Can't wait to go back and walk around the grounds of the Club Hotel and then chill at the beach over at the Ocean Club. Definitely our happy place!

Yelp
We are staying here for our wedding anniversary and will be back every year after. Fabulous atmosphere, service and amenities. Whether one dines at Grand Dining room or over at Eighty Ocean Kitchen and Bar there will be no disappointments. Tasha and Gary went out of their way to make our celebration dinner over the top. We were overwhelmed. A first class resort.

Yelp
Swoon. Hands down the best place to stay on the island. You step back in time the minute you walk past the croquet court out front. The entire hotel is set within the oak trees and moss, right near the water and immediately takes you back in time. the history behind this resort is fascinating so be sure to take the trolley tour of the island. This was the old stomping grounds of the Vanderbilts, Morgans, you name it. This was THE place to have property and had to be evacuated because during the war, the vast majority of the country's richest people were located in one area. The President was nervous that all of them would be bombed, so it had to be shut down. The rooms have not been 'updated' in the sense that they are similar to your chains. The floors creak, you have wrought iron beds, little patios with actual doors, not sliding glass. Absolutely gorgeous. The property has a sister location on the actual beach and you can take a free shuttle to get there. There are a variety of eating options at the location. The little deli is a great spot to grab some breakfast or light lunch. The bar next to the big restaurant is tiny, but who cares as you SHOULD be taking your drinks on the wrap around patio while you relax on the rocking chairs and watch the sunset. One of my favorite places to stay when I go home.
