"Jelly-Filled Treats Both a store and a food truck, this is the home of all things sweet, stuffed and iced. Jelly Modern makes its artisanal donuts fresh daily with local, organic ingredients whenever possible. There’s an online schedule to remind you that Madagascar vanilla-dipped donuts are available every day except Tuesday, but fear not because on that day the s’mores, salted caramel, and the elusive skor donuts appear (as well as the whoopie pies). And the gluten-sensitive donut with a surprise filling is available every day."

Not sure what took me so long to try this place! Donuts were sooo good & such an amazing variety! Customer service was so friendly. Definitely worth checking out!

Google
The most delicious freshest doughnuts I have ever eaten!!! They are sooo amazing! I’m in shock. I would hands down say this is the best doughnut shop in all of Calgary! We will for sure be coming back.

Jeanne Ferrer

Google
Although they did not have a lot of doughnuts when we visited, there were still maple bacon doughnuts! The limited selection of doughnuts was still delicious. It was my first time trying a maple bacon doughnut so plus points to Jelly for making me obsessed with the flavour.

Google
Very creative doughnut styles and flavors. I think out of everything I got, the maple bacon was my favorite. These doughnuts are more on the pricey side but just look at them! It’s completely worth it.

The donuts we got were delicious. My fav was the lemon one with the berry jam center, but my wife and kids loved every one of the flavors we got. I was disappointed at the amount of options, though. I prefer savory breakfast, so when we go to donut shops, I usually get a breakfast sandwich, croissant, or a kolache (if we’re in Texas), but there weren’t any savory options.

I wanted to drop a quick note about this donut I tried recently. It was a solid donut, nothing to write home about, but definitely worth a bite. It had a good balance of sweetness, the dough was soft, and the chocolate was just right. It's not gonna blow your mind or anything, but if you're in the mood for a decent donut, give it a shot. It's a good, reliable choice for a sweet treat.

Yay! If you want something different go to this place they can do custom donuts for every occasion. Like this photo, they have something for the upcoming easter🤗🥰It is jelly modern doughnuts in 8th St. SW. Calgary AB

Google
Boring doughnuts. I feel completely ripped off. I bought two doughnuts for $8.30 total. The Callebaut chocolate tasted like regular chocolate and the key lime was a failure. The doughnut batter itself was nothing short of disappointing as well. Never again. PS: the counter person was really good at her job

Yelp
This place is amazing for kids birthday parties. The kids had such a fantastic time, the games were fun and interactive and there was never a dull moment. Lots of laughter was had. To top it off, each kid took 6 doughnuts home that they decorated themselves! This was the easiest party that I've ever planned and it was a fun and memorable day for my daughter. Thank you!

Yelp
This place is very tasty!! I had the maple bacon doughnut and s'mores donut. The maple donut was easily a 5/5 stars. The s'mores looked like 5/5 but tasted like 4/5 so giving them 4 stars for now. When I try another donut maybe it will change my mind to a full 5 star!! Definitely get the maple bacon if you go!!

Yelp
I don't know what location the food truck of Jelly Modern Donuts is for but it might be for this location. But either way it was extremely delicious. I had the vanilla donut and I'm pretty sure it's called the vanilla massager donut with pink sprinkles and it was so good! My boyfriend has the Nanaimo bar donut I'm pretty sure it's called and that one was also very good! Once before I had s bacon caramel or a bacon chocolate donut and I really enjoyed that one. There was just a few sprinkles of bacon on top but it was great!

Yelp
One of my favorite donut shops. Wish you were in Vancouver. you are so awesome. Love it. at work we had a party and ordered Jelly Modern Doughnuts here. So delicious. Got the strawberry jam flavor and the chocolate coated one. Both not too sweet and just perfectly made. Definitely a good treat. I have had Jelly Modern Doughnut before and they never disappoint.

Yelp
Headed over to this place after breakfast with friends because it looked interesting online. The location is located is quite busy so we were grateful we found parking, even if it was a few blocks away. The place is super spacious and neat. There was only one lady working but it wasn't busy at all when we arrived around noon. The displays were very eye catching and every donut more tempting than the last. Each donut comes in a small or a large size. I chose to get one small Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla donut. The donut was fresh and just the right amount of sweetness. Didn't taste the bourbon but the pink sugar sprinkles were super cute and picture worthy! It was almost a shame to eat it but a fresh donut is the best donut so my friends and I sat down at the tables, which were also kept neat. Donuts were a bit pricey even for just one but since ingredients were locally sourced and donuts were made on site, you pay for that artisan experience and quality. It's worth checking out!

Yelp
Over rated! Really over rated. We got one of each that was left for our group of people and we all had a bite of each one. They did Not have a lot of flavor. The dough tasted mostly like yeast and not enough toppings. If we had to pick one it would say it was the Madagascar vanilla was the best. I liked the tiny version of donuts they sold. I liked that idea. Would we go back? No!!!

Yelp
Oh doughnuts you always make my day better! Especially these Jelly Modern Doughnuts! They were brought into work one day and I had to go myself and get more. They are unlike any other. The flavour and choices you have are amazing. They always taste fresh no matter how long you've forced yourself to put at least one to the side for later. I highly recommend them.

Yelp
Items Ordered: Coconut - Coconut Milk Glaze, Coconut Pastry Cream, Sweetened White Coconut Carrot Cake - Cinnamon Mascarpone Glaze Tangerine Dream - Orange Blossom Honey Glaze, Tangerine Curd, Mandarin Orange Segment Maple Bacon - Brown Maple Glaze and Valbella Bacon Peanut Butter Cup - Peanut Butter Ganache, Peanut Cream Filling, Salted Peanuts S'mores - Chocolate Ganache, Marshmallow Cream, Housemade Marshmallow, Graham Cracker Crumble Modern Cinnamon Roll - Saigon Cinnamon Sugar, Mascarpone Icing Finding the country known for Tim Horton's surprisingly lacking for fried-Dough alternatives, even oldschool mom n' pop spots seemingly unable to compete with Canada's love for a Maple Dip, it was with high hopes that I visited downtown's Jelly Modern Doughnuts, the results unfortunately quite underwhelming even in an undersaturated market. Located on the corner of 8 Street and 14 Avenue SW, the décor of white and wood laminate with splashes of pink clearly done on a tight budget, it was just past 11am that I entered the lengthy space with a glass window next to the counter, a bevy of options that rotate daily offered in two sizes, a total of six $2.25CAD 'smalls' charged a la carte joined by one sizable Cinnamon Roll. Tossing about terms like 'artisan' and hand-filled, though in reality none of Jelly Modern's choices are recognizable as the latter since all they do is remove the 'hole' and replace it with Glaze or Cream, it was much to the disappointment of this diner that all but the under-spiced Carrot Cake featured the same doughy base, first bites of Coconut far sweeter than anticipated with a sickeningly-sweet, almost artificial aftertaste. Moving on to better things, the monthly special "Tangerine Dream" a complex balance of sweet and sour with light bitter notes from 'Curd' that tasted more like Marmalade, the Maple Bacon was also quite good though certainly not 'filled' as suggested on the menu, a ring described as "Peanut Butter Cup" equally deceitful as a hole straight-through was fairly obvious, though the salty roasted Peanuts did play well off the heavily sweetened Cream. Not particularly impressed by S'mores, that same cloying sweetness found in the Coconut overwhelming both the Chocolate and any flavor attempted by way of Graham Cracker dust, the 'Modern' Cinnamon Roll was probably the only reason to consider a visit to Jelly once Tangerine Dream is retired at the end of January, the dense coil richly imbued with Cinnamon beneath smooth Mascarpone Icing.

Yelp
Mmmmmm. Donuts!!! Wandered over to Modern Jelly Donuts one Saturday after having lunch on 17th. I can't believe its taken me so long to actually get around to trying these donuts. I have been missing out on these delicious donuts for YEARS!! The shop itself was open and there was lots of room to hang out and have a coffee and donut with friends or family. There were even some tables outside so you could enjoy your treat while people watching if you wanted. That day, they had 6 types of donuts, a cinnamon bun and some gluten free donuts. We opted to get a half dozen assortment box and ended up with the classic maple bacon, a s'more, maple cream, peanut butter chocolate, chocolate and a lemon style donut. In all honesty, I thought the chocolate ones were going to be my favorites but they actually turned out to be my least favorite. I'm not sure why but I found those 2 specific donuts to be drier and denser than the other ones leading to some disappointment on my end. However, the maple bacon donut made up for it was incredible. It was fluffy and packed full of flavored. The donut wasn't too sweet and bacon was just right and complimented the maple flavor. This was by far the best maple flavored donut I've ever had. It clearly lived up to it being a signature donut of Modern Jelly. Definitely a must try for anyone who stops by!

Yelp
The best doughnuts in town! A little pricey, but it makes up for the taste. I always go for the Chocolate-flavoured ones, they don't disappoint; also tried the bacon doughnut - it was okay. It would be good if they have a location in the NW!

Yelp
Jelly Modern Dougnuts is a doughnut shoppe that offers new and innovative ways of making your beloved doughnut flavours, while keeping it simple. They also introduced the maple bacon doughnut flavour to Calgary and they were featured multiple times on the Food Network. So I'm pretty sure they have the art of doughnut making down pat. The doughnut itself is super chewy and moist. And their many doughnut glazes are not overpowering at all, which when combined make a heavenly pairing. My favourite flavours are their lemon curd, maple bacon, vanilla, and salted caramel. I also need to mention that their savoury sandwiches are great as well. They use their mini doughnut bread as the base of their sandwiches, which work perfectly with all the savoury components of the sandwich. The reasons why I didn't give Jelly 5 stars, even though I really enjoy their doughnuts, are their price point and consistency. I find that they are quite pricey for what they are. The consistency with their doughnuts are sometimes a hit-and-miss. The last time I ordered a green tea doughnut I couldn't taste the green tea at all and instead it tasted lemony. On one occasion I ordered multiple maple bacon doughnuts and found that some of them had barely any bacon on top and some of them had no bacon glaze on them. Also, when I bought some doughnuts an hour before closing, some of the doughnuts were a lil bit on the dry side. I understand Jelly is quite busy, between making their catering orders and store orders so I can see why mistakes like this could sometimes happen. Service is not bad, usually they have 1 or 2 people at the front taking orders. The store itself is quite busy so regardless of how many people are working it takes time to get through the line-up. The store atmosphere is modern, bright, and cute. I enjoy walking into Jelly and smelling all the tasty baking and glazing coming from the back of the store. Overall, Jelly is great and I definitely recommend their mini doughnuts so you can taste more flavours without getting fully too quickly. Or just grab the full size doughnuts and just stuff yourself!

Yelp
Wow... what dry doughnuts. I was really excited to try this place, but so disappointed. Did not taste like fresh doughnuts at all. Also, I did not enjoy the chocolate icing/dip... tasted too bitter. Now I know, won't be back.

Yelp
Pink! Zipping through downtown with a friend I couldn't help but notice this bright pink shop on the corner of the street, I had to take a peek inside. Lucky me I found doughnuts yum! what a crazy selection of doughnuts this place has, its great! Jelly's definitely has something for everyone from a classic vanilla or you can pick the monthly specials like Creamsicle. But I think my favourite one is the carrot cake. Mind you I was so distracted by all the little details in this shop from all the pink girly glam in the decor down to the details on the pastries. My favourite part would be the pink M&Ms that added to the Decour but were also added to my doughnut box.

Yelp
Gluten-Friendly available every day of the week now. PLUS a new location in Toronto, AND winners of the Food Network Donut Showdown (http://goo.gl/CFm9g) Make SURE to call ahead and order your Gluten-Friendly donuts. I showed up at noon on a Sunday, and there were NONE LEFT. I had tweeted the day before, and they knew I was picking up an order to take back to Edmonton for a friend - I was disappointed. :'( Didn't expect that at all.

Yelp
#160 Lazy Saturday is the best time 4 a classic Jelly doughnut. Popped in just be4 closing, 1 classic Jelly 2 go. Always smells so good; the aroma of maple, bacon, berries and more. What's not 2 love? This is what happens when U listen 2 Prince and married 18 years younger. U lose the ability to type a complete proper sentence. At least 4 the moment, the friendly service mutes all this. Deliverance of 1 classic jelly with powered sugar (I always expect a classic Jelly glazed but I must B the only 1). I got lucky today as usually when I make the trek to Jelly Modern Doughnuts, either on 8th St SW or at the Calgary Farmers Market, the classic Jelly had already left the building. Be4 I go, I personally recommend the baple macon or the peanut butter cup chocolate one (2nd to classic Jelly of course). I am sure they have other kinds of doughnuts; no really, I just never notice them. Sweet tooth filled, sweetness restored.

Yelp
Not bad, not great, would never return... We'd passed this place a few times but the internal and external decorating of the store kept us from going inside. One afternoon when wanting a treat, we stopped in and got a box of mixed doughnuts, but the colours of the shop are reflected in the 'only okay' quality of their stuff. When I am stumped about saying anything more, it's likely because their product was not at all noteworthy. Perhaps 3 stars is being overly-generous. I've enjoyed much better doughnuts from a small market stall in a tiny community in BC. Go elsewhere for desserts, okay?

Alisha W.

Yelp
Had a doughnut from here and within half an hour to an hour or so, I received maybe some of the worst possible food poisoning I've ever had in over a decade.

Yelp
Great variety, that are not "genetic" or boring. I will definitely be back to help out local business' like this. Those big chain company's just don't apply the same quality and care are Jelly :)
google avatar

Yelp
They have a pretty good selection of donuts and they were reasonably priced. I opted for a coconut donut and it had a good coconut flavor but wasn't overpowering. I also appreciated that the cream in the middle wasn't overly sweet. The lady behind the counter was nice and let us take our time selecting our donuts. The inside was clean and the outside was easy to spot while driving.

Yelp
I heard how great these donuts where so when I happened to walk by after a long day I decided to stop in and give them a try My group split: maple bacon, salted caramel, coconut and jelly donut I found all the donuts to be on dry side not light as I hoped Maple bacon was super yummy right amount of sweet and salty loved how they didn't scrimp on bacon on top Salted caramel: a super sweet and sticky mess... all I tasted was sweet no distinct flavours and the donut was over covered so your fingers were covered in caramel sauce Coconut nothing special and didn't really taste coconut flavour Jelly donut this donut was dry... the powdered sugar was held on by icing but jelly was great Staff was helpful and store was clean I do wish that they had a bag with handles to carry box of donuts home... it's was awkward to try and carry a big box of donuts home

Yelp
Move over cupcakes! There's a new nut in town... a doughy one at that. Jelly Modern Doughnuts is a new take on an old treat in C-town. Gourmet doughnuts that you just aren't going to find elsewhere. S'more, carrot cake, red velvet, raspberry, peanut butter, banana chocolate... I came home with a box of real lookers. You can bet I tried I bite of each one. The chocolate banana is where it's at for me. Like a deep-fried ring of banana bready goodness, it'll have you slipping away into doughnut delight. Price-wise, these big bites come in at $2.25 apiece. Another treat by the counter, an array of a dozen doughnuts, all themed for Easter. Custom orders! They even come with a clear tray on which to display them. My oh my, you've just raised the doughnut bar. Good thing-too many more of these and I won't fit under it anyway ;).

Yelp
OUTSTANDING DOUGHNUTTERY! And I lived in Portland Or, home of VooDoo, and this is better. Much better. The donuts here are not overly sweet and the flavors are bold and fresh. The Coconut donut might be the best I've ver had. And the blueberry cream was lush, thick lavish! If one of these donut came to live, I would marry it. Sorry dear wife.

Yelp
I am a sucker for a good doughnut. It's my guilty pleasure and when I heard about Jelly, I made it a point to stop in on my visit to Calgary and check this place out. The selection is pretty impressive but I settled on a creme brûlée doughnut and I was super pleased with the taste and overall freshness of the doughnut (nothing worse than a stale one). Would definitely go back and try a few more :)
google avatar

Tracey M.

Yelp
Who needs Tim Hortons when you can hit up a place like this? Best doughnuts I've ever had, and gluten free options too! Their coffee was yum and the pink decor will make this a great catch-up location for girly girls everywhere =) p.s. get the maple bacon!! You know you wanna ;)

Yelp
Had a sweet tooth craving and visited this place for the first time in a while. They still have amazing donuts which is a relief that they haven't gone downhill. I can't afford to eat here on a regular basis for the sake of both my wallet and my rising belly but every time that I do, it's always great. Would love to see better deals for buying in bulk because I always purchase at least half a dozen since buying one donut does not feel like a bargain at almost 3$ for one. If you're looking for not your average, amazing donut, you should go to Jelly Modern :)

Yelp
Very good! We wen't on a Saturday afternoon and it was not very busy (likley because it wasn't really any meal time) and there were many doughnuts to chose from, as well as two different sizes of doughnuts. We got a s'mores doughnut, Peanut butter cup, Madagascar Vanilla and a fresh fruit doughnut. All were excellent and the price was quite reasonable at about $2 each for a gourmet doughnut! The decor was lovely, very modern, sheek and beautiful shades of pink. We will DEFINITELY be coming back for more...hopefully soon :-)

Yelp
I can't believe this is my first time trying this place! My friends and I came here for a study break and there isn't much to say except that these are some delicious doughnuts! The interior of this place is really bright and pink and they have a variety of different doughnuts to try, including a maple bacon one ... Who doesn't love bacon!? They even have some gluten free ones! You've gotta try this place! Most unique doughnuts in the city!

Yelp
Solid 4 stars I had been hoping to try this specialty doughnut shop for several months, but it seemed that every time I was in Calgary, the rainy, yucky weather always kept me from leaving the hotel. Yesterday, I was lucky enough to have great weather and some willing, sugar-eating companions! Between us, we tried the regular carrot cake, regular maple bacon, and then the 3 bite versions of lemon curd, bourbon vanilla, peanut butter and jelly, and coconut. There was not a bad doughnut in the group! My favorite was the lemon curd with the vanilla and pb&j as close seconds. The flavors of everything were right on, each doughnut was moist and the presentation was very appetizing. My only complaint with the edibles is that I don't think the vanilla doughnut needed that thick thick layer of pink sugar. It hurt my teeth to eat it! Service was great! The younger guy working behind the counter was great. When the milk my friend ordered was sour, he was really apologetic and replaced the milk. He later brought her out a coupon for a free doughnut. The design of the eating area was modern and stylish, but could have been a bit more functional. The round white tables around which all of the seating was centered were VERY short! You were leaning down to eat. The only thing I really didn't understand or like was the strange counter set up. You've got your giant doughnut case in the center with registers on either side. You place your order at the one on the left and do the pay & pick up thing at on the one on the right. A little awkward and really unnecessary.

Yelp
I like this place. I really do. Yes it's a huge honkin' donut with imaginative flavours, but it really does rock. Former top chef for the now-closed St-Germain resto (when he left, it pretty much went downhill and closed), he apparently got tired of the dinner routines and played around with donut recipes galore... and then promptly hit it outta the park. The Maple Bacon is simply outstanding, as well as the chocolate mixes, the original Jelly and so on. A bit pricey, but when compared to cupcakes, definately a sweet bargain. ANd they have plenty of ways to hook people in from young to old (check out their free storytime for kids on tuesdays). Their selection might run out at any time, but do your best to try it out and bring the milk!

Yelp
Saw Jelly on Food Network so I had to try it!! Got the coconut donut, it was so good! Their donuts are the perfect amount of sweet, and the flavours aren't overpowering. The donuts are a little expensive for what they are. Service was fast and friendly. I found that the dough was a little too chewy, however their innovative and fun flavours will have me coming back again!

Yelp
I picked up a half dozen and ate 5 of them in one sitting. I let my mom have one. I know, I'm a pretty great son. As suggested by I don't know how many people, I made sure I tried the maple bacon doughnut. It was good. Not an overwhelming amount of maple flavour, just enough to get the taste. I found the bacon a little too crispy. Also in my box of sugar and carb delights was the jelly doughnut, peanutbutter cup, and s'mores. The jelly doughnut was not good. I was not expecting a tart berry flavour which really ruined that one for me. The peanutbutter cup was really good and same for the s'mores. The dough is so soft and chewy and delicious I had ploughed through two doughnuts before I even knew it. They put the perfect amount of icing on the doughnuts. The doughnuts are coated but not overwhelmed like you sometimes find with the icing on cupcakes. The decor and layout of the shop reminds me of a Sprinkles Cupcakes shop. Everything is shiny, the doughnuts are behind glass on raised platforms and at eye level.

Yelp
Of course I'm going to write another review for Jelly!!! It seems that I get these every time I'm in the area. Because, why not? How can you not like doughnuts? We came in around 10 or 11am on a Sunday. The display case was packed with fresh doughnuts! (I tell ya, come in the morning). Their special doughnut that day was Nanaimo Bar. Well, let's give'r a try! We ended up with a dozen of their large doughnuts. 2 Nanaimo Bar, 2 Regular Jelly, 2 Maple Bacon, 2 Caramel Apple, 2 S'more, 1 Coconut, 1 Lemon. I'm surprised they even made the trek back to Edmonton. Sadly, some did not because we were hungry on the way home. These doughnuts surpass others, and we will keep coming back every time we are in town, as long as they allow us!

Yelp
Really appreciate they offer new and special favours once in a while! I love lemon curd, creme brûlée, nanaimo bar, tangerine dream.... Parking: Used to have more free parking around. But Jelly has some parking spots in the parking lot behind the building, just look for a sign (seems like having less stalls though).

Yelp
Can I give this 3.5 stars? My friend and I road tripped to Calgary for a weekend, and I've heard so much about Jelly Modern Doughnuts that I was really really excited to give it a try, especially the maple bacon doughnut (Bacon? Yes, please). In short, they're super cute, super fancy doughnuts, in a stylish modern setting. Toto, I don't think we're in Tim Horton's any more. It's a very sparse building with giant glass and minimalistic lines. For some, that might be cool, but it doesn't really encourage you to sit around and hang out (though that's what my friends and I ended up doing). There really is more of an expectation for you to grab-and-go. Hard plastic chairs and stiff general seating isn't conducive for comfort, no matter how pretty the (recycled?) wood might be. Hence, this gets docked 1 star. I feel like they could have had a more comforting cafe setting even with a modern feel. What I do think is cool that they do have special "chef's creations" that rotate randomly. Last Sunday, they had a pineapple upside down inspired doughnut, which I enjoyed. The other half star gets docked because while the doughnuts were fabulous -- standouts for me included the maple bacon, smore, and peanut butter -- the taste wasn't something that made me go wow wow, I HAVE to return here again when I feel like breaking my caloric and money limit for the day. Kudos for the recycled utensils and the bamboo plates provided.

Yelp
On our way to try out Jelly Modern Doughnuts, my husband and I promised that we will just buy two each. When we got in and saw the yummy display of doughnuts, we found it impossible to keep our two-doughnut promise and instead ordered two of each doughnut we thought looked yummy (we ended up getting a dozen! ...and a few more maybe). The doughnuts are a little bit pricey but they're not the usual doughnuts you get from less pricey places. We ended up ordering salted caramel, smores, maple bacon, lemon curd, london fog and valrhona chocolate. I love all of them but my favorite one would be the maple bacon. Ok, I have to end this review soon cos just writing this is making me want to take one more doughnut and I've already had waaaay too much sugar for the day. :)

Yelp
I stopped by here to see what all the hype is about. I had a large s'mores Doughnut, it was about $3. Now I was expecting it to melt in my mouth and be super flavourful, similar to Krispy Kreme (which tragically shut down in N.E Calgary R.I.P) It was not. It turned out to be 80% dough and 20% nut. I was expecting a premium quality doughnut considering the price tag, but I was let down. The size was apparently a large but it could easily pass as a normal-sized doughnut. Thank God I invested another 50 cents to upsize it to a large, otherwise a small would have been a real disaster. Save your money and buy two doughnuts for the same price from your local Tim Hortons. If Krispy Kremes, God's gift to humanity, could not survive the dessert market in YYC, this place doesn't stand a chance. Jelly Doughnuts ain't so jelly after all...

Yelp
BEWARE: THIS PLACE IS ADDICTIVE. When I first saw it's Yelp listing, I was wondering how others could have so many checkins in this place. Then I found out. The interior is really pretty - white and hot pink, with floating pink lanterns. Fun. Too bad they didn't have wireless internet otherwise I'd stick around longer. (though I'm not sure my scale would like that. How can you stop at one Jelly?) Tons of flavours to choose from! Maple dipped topped with bacon? Check. Smores? Check. Lemon? Check. Salted Caramel? Check. Lavender? Check. $1.95 for a mini and $2.45 for a regular. I recommend the regular because you'll be sorry you got a mini when you're on the train back home and you realize that was simply not enough to satisfy your craving. My personal faves: SALTED CARAMEL and MARSHMELLOW!!! I'm serious. Some deliciously addictive stuff. Don't think about it. Just get it! They only make salted caramel on some days (wed, fri, for sure, not sure about other days) so if you see the it being offered, snatch one up! And after going into Jelly 3 times within 5 days, I now know why there are tons of checkins at this place.

Yelp
Yumm-o! These delectable donuts make for the perfect treat. Tried the peanut butter chocolate one today and enjoyed every last bite. It was fluffy on the inside, and covered with just the right amount of chocolate and peanut butter icing - not to mention the adorable little peanuts sprinkled on top. Love their presentation #ALLinTHEdetails

Yelp
I have always wanted to stop in and never have. Luckily for me, Wendy made the decision for me and dropped them off at work for me! Not what I was expecting. These arnt your everyday jellies, these are pimped out jellies. The first one I tried was smores. So good, almost didnt want to let my husband take a bite. And the presentation was nice - made you almost feel bad for eating it. Almost. The next was a rasberry powered donut. Great spin on a classic. I cannt wait to head down there myself!

Yelp
Simply put: The. Best. Donuts. In. The. City. They're so light and always so fresh tasting. Worth the splurge for one single donut for sure!!

Yelp
Team Fam came here to stock up for a Back to the Future II kind of night and we ordered the following: Green Tea Classic Jelly Chocolate Cherry Orange Maple Bacon Vanilla How could we not get the signature jelly doughnuts right? With powdered sugar on top and a gooey jelly center, this doughnut didn't surprise me with the jelly as much as it did with the dough. If I did a blindfold test between this and Tim Horton's the soft and cushy dough from Jelly Modern Doughnuts would help me spot the one from Jelly Modern Doughnuts. Among Green Tea, Chocolate Cherry, and Vanilla, I think these were all great flavours that could be part of your dessert or afternoon snack since these share the same great dough and actually contain the flavour they advertise. Bonus points for having the right sweetness for me. The Orange. Now we're getting a little experimental. There is real orange on top which squirts a bit as you bite into it. This wasn't my favourite because I wish the orange wasn't so sour here. The Maple Bacon is an interesting combination of savoury and sweet. If you are any sort of meat eater who needs to be convinced doughnuts are great, give Maple Bacon a try. Strangely, I quite liked the maple sweetness with the bits of bacon on top. It's definitely the most enigmatic flavour I had here.

Yelp
Worse than I remember. If these are "modern donuts," GIVE ME A TIME MACHINE! Take me back to the glory days of good, old fashioned donuts! I don't want to live in a world that sacrifices taste and quality for "upscale" and "chic." This all may sound harsh, but my complaint is that these donuts are all style, very little substance. It's pretty stupid that on my last visit I thought "three bite doughnuts" meant THREE of the little donuts for $2.25. I was surprised, after ordering 3, that my bill came to $7. Fool me once, shame on me... Nevertheless, "three bite" should ALWAYS be written "three-bite." The hyphen is grammatically essential my friends. I was underwhelmed when I tried Jelly before, but I decided I should give them another chance. The donuts are just flat-out not very good. There is barely bacon on the maple bacon, the peanut butter cup is pretty gross and the flavors of all their donuts just fall completely flat. Bland, uninspiring lumps of dough. Donuts should be comfort food, but rather than comfort, these ones give me the cold shoulder.

Yelp
I bought donuts to treat my lovely coworkers yesterday and the comments I got from them were "I hate you", "you've ruined my life"...... I was scratching my head and thought, the donuts not good? Nope, it is the opposite. They love it so much and they couldn't stop eating them. The decor is quite cute - pink. I just thought the counter/cashier is a little bit strange. I choose the donuts then I go to the other side to pay. It was just a little bit confusing for me. But other than that, no complain. Honestly the donuts are a bit pricey in my opinion, but the novelty and amount of selection you get to choose from totally worth a try.

Yelp
Like a beacon for sugar, my sweet-dar went off when Wendy P and I were driving by. I knew I must, just had to enjoy a full day's worth of calories with one of these mammoth doughy orbs. The doughnut was awesome. I tried the seasonal selection which was a raspberry iced mound of pillowy soft dough. Yes sweet, but surprisingly not nearly as much as some cupcake icings I've come across. It was pure heaven to bite. Almost like a fluffy cloud. And the space is adorable. Lots of bright light, fun pink cushions, open areas, plenty of seating. I know it's a new business.. but now's the best time for some constructive feedback so here's my list to hopefully help these Jelly peeps stay in business for a long, long time: -Revamp your ordering system. Even when it wasn't busy, service was slow, confused, and a bit baffling. Why would there need to be separate "order here" and "pick up/pay here" stations? Are you sandwich artists who need input from the customer on what to make? Between person 1 at "Order Here" and person 2 at "Pick Up Here" our order was completely confused as was our name. Do two doughnuts really need to take that long to be selected and handed to you? Take a queue from Tim Horton's or Starbucks and just get the person's cash when you take their order. -The menu sets people up for a let down. Up on the board there's all of the various types of doughnuts... but do you make them daily? Nope. Why not just leave the wall blank? Or only announce your staples. Oh, but wait, you did do that (peanut butter and jelly) but that's not on the menu today either. Disappointing. -If you have regular sized doughnuts for dozen and half dozen orders, perhaps you shouldn't leave them out in plain sight. I asked if I get a couple of smaller size ones but the "yes, on some days, but not today" answer just didn't fly for me. -Ask if your customer's order is to go or to stay. Putting two doughnuts in a big to go container is not only wasteful, but also useless. A plate would have served to stay customers way better. But good on you for using recyclable/compostable forks/knives. -And to that note, if you're going to use big boxes for all of your orders, get a proper size garbage can. Perhaps near the door would be good place to pop one in. The little circular ones that coffee shops use are good, but if that's all you've got, you're going to be doing a lot of bussing and garbage can cleaning. I wish you guys the best and hope that you get your "Jelly legs" going strong, because I have a feeling this could be the next evolution in the dessert market!

Yelp
So maybe I was just a bit too excited for Jelly. It could be that I built them up so much in my head over the course of the last few months, that when I actually dove into my first box, I was a tad disappointed... I was expecting to give them 5 stars, then was going to give only 3, but realized that there could be some mitigating factors as to why it wasn't as mind blowing as expected and settled on 4. So it was my last night in Ctown after an ENTIRE Stampede. I went in thinking I would buy one and gobble it up. Wow, there are just so many glorious choices! From Madagascar vanilla, to raspberry filled jelly. Then really cool concoctions like S'mores, maple bacon, peanut butter cup, caramel and pretzel, and on and on. I knew I was having family dinner that evening, so I bought a box of 6 and took them to-go. Now, a drive back to Edmonton, a wait till after dinner, that could explain my biggest disappointment: the dough part of the doughnut was very dried out, on all of them. So sad. I just don't understand how the 7hrs in the box could dry them out that much... I have had boxes of Krispy Kream's that are still moist 2-3 days later. Perhaps the box should have been in a plastic bag.... Maybe that is something for them to consider offering when people buy a large box. The other thing that irked me was that a few of them were just so sweet my face puckered and I couldn't even taste it. I believe it was the S'mores one, it was like eating a spoonful of icing sugar, noting like a S'more. Now the raspberry jelly, that was a spectacular doughnut! It tasted like real raspberry, I highly suggest it. I guess at a place called Jelly, go for what their claim to fame is: The jelly doughnut!

Yelp
Disappointed. Definitely over priced. I was really excited to hear about a "gourmet" donut place in town. And everyone seemed to be raving about it. Ordered an apple one and a coconut one. The donut was very doughy. Nothing exciting about it.

Yelp
Pretty good donuts, but the food truck is super sketchy. They only had a cash box, and when I asked for a receipt for my expenses, I was told that they didn't have receipts. I'm sure they were totally reporting all of the income, but customer receipts aren't optional.

Yelp
It is pink and mid-century modern minimalistic. The place rates high on cool points but low from a practical point of view. As mentioned in virtually every other review, the ordering system provokes a "what are you thinking?" The doughnuts in the middle, the ordering place on the left and the cashier to the right is highly dysfunctional and quite irritating in a soup nazi way. I had the opportunity to taste 2 different filled doughnuts, the peanut butter cup and the marshmallow. My preconception of a filled doughnut - a doughnut fully encapsulating a filling is not what occurs at Jelly Modern. They make a thimble- sized indentation on the top of a hole-less doughnut and put the filling in that. In the case of the peanut butter cup the small amount of filling was sufficient because of the intensity of flavour but in the marshmallow it was insufficient. Further to the "fillings", the peanut butter cup was sensational and the marshmallow had a cloying sweetness without any discernible flavor. The doughnut itself was just okay, it was not greasy and was fairly light but it was not melt in your mouth good. It may be worth a visit earlier in the day when the doughnuts are fresher. The gourmet doughnut is a cool concept and many different flavors seem enticing. Just share with a friend so you can try multiple flavors in one visit, those suckers are big! 3.5 stars
