Grand Teton National Park Guide, From Experts

"Perfect for a chilly, memorable swim in summer, I recommend water shoes, a dry change of clothes, and considering a life jacket when entering the icy alpine water. Jenny Lake is also the gateway to Hidden Falls: the full Jenny Lake Trail is 7.2 miles, but by taking the ferry from the Jenny Lake Visitor Center you can truncate the trip to an easy one-mile round-trip with roughly 300 feet of elevation gain to reach the 100-foot cascade — start before 9 a.m. to beat crowds and secure parking." - Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel is a writer with more than eight years of experience editing and writing for both brands and online publications—with a particular focus on travel, fashion, and lifestyle. Jackson Hole Guide: What to See, Do, and Eat

"Considered a centerpiece of the nearby national park, this alpine lake is a hub for multiple trailheads and recreational options: hikers can loop the shoreline, visit a nearby waterfall and a scenic overlook, take a short boat ride, relax on the shore or stop by the visitor center to plan excursions." - Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel is a writer with more than eight years of experience editing and writing for both brands and online publications—with a particular focus on travel, fashion, and lifestyle. 10 Places Where You Can See the Bluest Water in the U.S.

"Ringed by snowcapped peaks and towering trees, Jenny Lake — which ranks high on the list of spectacular natural attractions in Grand Teton National Park — inspires awe from all who visit. The glacial water is wonderfully waveless and clear. However, the cold temps make it better suited for canoeing and kayaking than swimming." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Yelp
A beautiful way to spend the day in Teton National Park! We arrived late afternoon and found parking along the street adjacent to the parking lot. Many people advise to go early, but we found that late afternoon works just as well to avoid crowds. The park is open 24/7, and in June, the sunset is around 9:30pm. Before heading down the .5 Disvovery trail to view Jenny Lake, the tetons, and to access the boat shuttle, I suggest using the restrooms and stopping by the visitor center for maps and information on various hikes. We waited about 20 mins for the boat shuttle across the lake due to a tour group ahead of us. I highly suggest taking the shuttle across Jenny Lake to access Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point. A one-way hike is approximately 2.5 miles to Hidden Falls that can be accessed by the Jenny Loop trail. Round-trip shuttle cost is $20. The shuttle ride is about 10-15 mins with spectacular views! From the boat dock, the walk was about. 5 miles to Hidden Falls. After viewing Hidden Falls, we hiked northbound along Jenny Lake towards String Lake, which provided beautiful views of the lake. Once we reached the String Lake parking lot, we opted to skip the shuttle back and started our hike southbound around Jenny Lake back towards the Visitor Center. The hike back from the String Lake parking lot was approximately 3.5 miles. Gorgeous views of Jenny Lake and the Tetons! The hike is not paved and was moderate. The west side of the Jenny loop trail had a few inclines/declines, a couple of fallen trees to climb over, a lot of mosquitos, and horse poop to avoid. However, it was a beautiful hike! The weather was pretty nice overall, but as others suggested, layers are best. Don't forget a hat, sunscreen, bug spray, water, and snacks.

Yelp
There is a reason that you're here. Jenny Lake is the #1 or #1A prettiest place on earth. (Redfish Lake may be tied) I always recommend folks visiting anywhere within a day's drive make it a point to see it. My friends who have done it all agree that it's worth the trip. Covered in ice floes and blowing snow in winter with limited visibility, it's amazing. It always thrills and satisfies. Early AM is one strategy. Sunset "golden hour" is another. Don't sleep on the whiteout blizzard snowstorm opportunity to come without a crowd. We had total silence today because of the dampening sound of the snow. Magical and romantic. It's like taking a long hike to a perfect waterfall... the journey is the point, and the destination is a huge payoff.

Yelp
I love this lake. The first time I came here was when I made a stop at the visitor center a few years back. I walked around the nature trail and enjoyed the views of the Teton Range. Jenny Lake is one of the most visited areas in Grand Teton National Park and is located at the base of the Teton Range. There are several trails that leave the Jenny Lakes area. The most popular is the trail to Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point. Because the hike can be long for some people, Jenny Lake offers boat rides to Inspiration Point for a fee. The view of Jenny Lake from Inspiration Point is amazing. You can also hike into the backcountry via Cascade Canyon. The parking lot is pretty large, but fills up quick during peak seasons. Definitely make some time to check out this beautiful lake and the surrounding area. The visitor center has park rangers on hand for questions.

Yelp
Great fun experience at Jenny lake! We didn't have enough time to enjoy it all as it took time to get in park and get to the lake. But we did take the boat ride across and do the hike all the way up with a 3 and 5 year old. It's worth the cost snd the time plus the kids can easily do it. Go to the very top! Take lots water as thee is only one water station at the boat dock once you get there.

Yelp
Jenny Lake Lodge is all about the rustic and remote experience. It's located on the shore of the gorgeous Jenny Lake in the Tetons. Their restaurant is open for very limited hours, but when they are open, their service is first class. They are located on a one way road from String Lake along the larger lake, so you have to be headed there and ready when they are. There's a parking attendant who gave us our parking pass as we pedaled in on our e-bikes. We had a little dog with us in a backpack and they couldn't accommodate the dog. However, they quickly agreed to serve us a takeout lunch on the porch outside. They sent out the server who brought us lemonade and took our orders. I got the bison burger my wife had the steak wrap. Both were really delicious! And they kept returning to see how we were doing, while refilling our lemonades. We felt quite well pampered. We highly recommend this restaurant, and it's worth coordinating your activities to ensure that you arrive before 1:00 pm for lunch. You are likely to be pampered like we were, and pleased with your menu choices.

Yelp
Recommended to me by a friend, Jenny Lake is a gorgeous blue lake at the foot of several Tetons. We parked at the trailhead and hiked out to both Hidden Falls, Inspiration Point, and Cascade Canyon. The trails are very well maintained and easy to navigate. Hikers beware, all these trails get so so busy around 9am, once the ferries start to shuttle people across the lake. If you're looking for solitude, go early. On our hike we saw a few marmot, chipmunks, and elk. No moose or bear unfortunately, but lots of people say that they hang around the area.

Yelp
This is one of the most popular spots in Grand Teton National Park and for good reason. Because it can get so busy I highly recommend getting here before 9am to grab a parking spot before it gets full. At the Jenny Lake Visitor Center there are a few small shops to grab snacks, drinks, souvenirs, and walk around. As you walk around the lake you'll see signs with info about the lake itself. You can do a variety things from canoeing, paddleboarding, or just playing in the water. If you're looking for land activities you can hike the Jenny Lake Trail which is 7.9 miles round trip (per AllTrails). If you want to do some exploring and sightseeing without the effort of hiking you can take the boat across Jenny Lake to get to the other side and get to Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point. I decided to go on the hike which was nice. Along the east side of the hike was my favorite as you can go down to the water, see the nice colorful rocks, and of course the grand tetons being its majestic self in the background. That made for amazing pictures and panoramas and would've been even better if the sky wasn't smoky. Another note: surprisingly I was able to get good service on my phone with AT&T! It was a nice surprise after not having any at Yellowstone National Park the weekend before.

Yelp
It's a solid place to learn about the geological and historical parts of the valley. As a local: - speed limit is 45 on the inner park road, why you in a hurry? Enjoy the views, look for animals - yes the parking lot will be near full or over capacity (hence parking on the road side) by 10am or so during the peak months - no they don't "release" the animals each morning. Get up early, be prepared with bear spray, water etc and hike/drive around. Seeing animals is a privilege not a guarantee this isn't a zoo. STAY 25 yards away from herbivores and 100 yards from carnivores. This isn't a joke, these are wild animals they're not here for you to use them as props in your IG stories and posts. PLEASE leave no trace: -if you pack it in pack it out - don't remove any sticks, rocks etc - stay on the trails! 3 million ppl visit this park every year and every step you take on and off trail has impact on the environment here Enjoy the park!

Yelp
Easy to moderate hiking options with awesome views of the lake, trees, and mountains. A day there is a day well spent enjoying nature and soaking in the views.

Yelp
We took the ferry boat across and hiked cascade canyon up to solitude lake, went over the pass and came down paintbrush canyon. Cut back over to Jenny lake from spring lake. What a day! Most gorgeous views. 20 miles of hiking in 10 hours. Saw two moose and a bear, too.

Yelp
Wasn't expecting it to be so nice! Such pretty views and trails. The cabins are nice too
