OK, we didn’t stay here, but we hiked up here because it was on like some kind of like things to do in Jerome. And the cool thing is is this place was like used to be a hospital and I was expecting like this grand hotel but it really wasn’t that grand because the main entrance is where the emergency room used to be. But once I understood that it was actually really cool and the two ladies at the counter were the coolest people to talk to. They knew so much history we chatted for like 45 minutes. It felt like just about history there in Jerome and in the hospital and about ghosts and about giant centipedes. … Anyways, I think we wanna stay here sometime. It’s a little more money but I can see why because it’s such an amazing view and such historical building. Definitely an experience staying there. The restaurant next-door — I think it’s called the as —seemed to be pretty cool but I’d recommend going for lunch instead of dinner. Dinner is a bit pricey, but lunch is kind of reasonable. The interior was cool and great views while eating. They sort of turned that part of the hospital into it looks like an old tavern

We stayed at the Jerome Grand Hotel located at 200 Hill Street in Jerome, Arizona. This hotel was built on a hill in 1926 as a hospital during a time when copper mining was a major industry in the area. The hospital closed in 1950 after mining operations were shutting down and the building sat vacant for 44 years. It was purchased in 1994 and renovated into the hotel that it is today. Many people believe that this hotel is haunted. There was a suspected murder of a maintenance man while the hospital was open and an apparent suicide when the building was vacant. There were also an estimated 9000 deaths in the building while it was operating as a hospital. Some people have reported small child running throughout the third floor hallway and sometimes in the rooms. People have also reported lights and televisions flicking on or off without explanation and objects moving, seemingly by themselves. We did not see anything unusual during our stay. Our room had an enclosed balcony and shallow balconies outside of the French doors, and had a good view of the Verde Valley. The room was comfortable and the bathroom definitely looks like it was from a different era, even though the renovation started in 1994. Our room and bathroom were clean and had a refrigerator and microwave in it, as well as a flat screen TV and a mini-split air conditioner among the modern amenities. This hotel is unique and I recommend it to others.

We didn't stay here but it's a bucket list item. Drive all the way to the top of the hill to check out this boutique hotel and restaurant. Lobby and restaurant open to the public; old cars on display in the garage. Great views. No restroom. Used to be United Verde Hospital; vacant for some time, then reopened as hotel in 1994.

Katrina at the front desk was so incredibly kind! Not only did she take the time to tell us all about the history of the hotel she answered all of our questions. She made our stay so special. It's people like her who make traveling to this destination worth every penny. Thank you Katrina for making our stay so enjoyable!!!

Great location near town with amazing views. Really cool history which is why we paid the premium price to stay here. Unfortunately, the room AC just wasn’t strong enough to cool the room. Our family didn’t sleep well (and not bc the ghosts!).

The Asylum Restaurant & Jerome Grand Hotel – Haunted Elegance in Arizona’s Ghost Town Perched high on the rugged hills of Jerome, Arizona, the Jerome Grand Hotel is a hauntingly beautiful destination that blends history, charm, and breathtaking views. Housed in what was once a hospital built in the 1920s, the hotel exudes character and mystery, all while offering a surprisingly warm and welcoming stay. The restoration of this historic building is nothing short of remarkable. It’s clear that every detail has been approached with thoughtful care—maintaining its vintage soul while ensuring comfort for modern guests. You can feel the history in the creaking floorboards and see it in the architecture, yet everything feels sturdy, clean, and lovingly preserved. The Asylum Restaurant, nestled within the hotel, mirrors this balance of elegance and simplicity. The menu is light and clean—perhaps a bit limited—but every dish is prepared with fresh ingredients and an eye for presentation. It’s a fitting culinary complement to the ethereal ambiance of the hotel: refined, understated, and just a little mysterious. What truly elevates the experience are the panoramic views. Whether you’re dining at the Asylum or gazing from your room, the vistas of the Verde Valley stretch out in stunning layers of desert and sky. Sunset in Jerome is a moment to savor. And then there are the delightful little touches: a gleaming 1922 Rolls Royce and a 1924 Pierce Arrow quietly resting in the garage, echoing the grandeur of a bygone era. These vintage treasures, like everything else here, feel like pieces of a living museum—one you can sleep in, dine in, and explore. Whether you’re a fan of ghost stories or just in search of a unique, atmospheric retreat, the Jerome Grand Hotel and Asylum Restaurant is a must-visit. It’s more than a stay—it’s a journey into Arizona’s rich, strange, and beautiful past.

This place is amazing. My husband and I came to Jerome for the ghost tour (this was amazing as well👻) to celebrate our anniversary. The day we got here is was raining/snowing and foggy it was SO EPIC. Inside is so eerie. The hotel staff were all so friendly and welcoming. We booked a balcony room with an amazing view. The old elevator was super creepy, adding to the nostalgia. The stay here made our trip that much more spooky!! We will be back for sure!

Loved staying here! It's absolutely worth the money to get the balcony valley side view!! The hotel has just enough of a creepy vibe to make it fun without being cheesey. Staff was very friendly and helpful, continental breakfast was very good!

Yelp
First trip to Jerome and this was definitely the hotel to stay at to fit the ambience of the town. Rooms were clean! My 14 year old was creeped out because of the antiquity of the hotel "it was old" - exactly was we wanted to complement our experience. Creeks, noises, etc... rickety old elevator - loved it all! Kind of like a creepy scene from an old ghost movie - perfect! Service at the front desk was great and we had a few interactions with different people - all professional, respectful, personable and kind. One (Jenny) even called me to let me know the light was still on in my car she noticed after we went up to our rooms. Little things like that I appreciate. :) We would stay again but would actually try the restaurant the next time. - our only regret.

Yelp
The town of Jerome is a funky place to begin with... think SF Fisherman's wharf meets ghost town..sorta. I had drinks and dinner at the Hotel and it was okay. Most of the staff was depressed...perhaps Asylum vibe...IDK. The drinks were pricey and watered down. The food was good but very spendy. Good for a one and done.

Yelp
We watched a YouTube video about the history of the now Grand Hotel, and decided to visit it. Our intentions were to have lunch at the Asylum restaurant, but it's closed on Tuesdays. We still wanted to take a look inside of the Grand Hotel, the staff was very cordial. The hotel is nice inside and i wish I would've considered booking a night in just to get the full experience. Perhaps next time.

Yelp
Was in Prescott with some girlfriends and headed to Jerome for a little shopping and lunch. Went to the Jerome Hotel, had a very nice lunch and a unique dining room. The place just had a vibe. It was near Halloween so the place was decorated appropriately. Service was great, food was great and would definitely go back again.

Yelp
Stayed one night after visiting family nearby. What a wonderful piece of western history! Hotel elevator was really old and fun to operate. We stayed on the fourth floor which was supposedly the maternity ward back in the day. Room was clean and cozy and very quiet. We heard a knock on the door about midnight but just ignored it - no peepholes in those old doors. Maybe it was a lost ghost, ha ha. A really wonderful trip. Hotel staff were friendly and the hotel views were beautiful although finding the driveway at night was difficult. A must stay hotel for at least one trip. Thanks for the fun!

Yelp
This was a fun stay, we enjoyed the hotel and all its offerings, we also did a ghost tour and learned so much about the hotel and the town, the whole family enjoyed it.

Yelp
This is where I wanted to stay for my birthday. We stayed in room 32 which I heard was supposed to be the most haunted. This hotel use to be a hospital with the asylum being on the 3rd floor. I loved the old time charm of this hotel and all the decorations, I especially loved the old time elevator and watching the passing of the other floors as we went by. Our room had a balcony that over looked the valley below, stunning views. The room was nicely decorated with old time furnishings, which added to the charm. I was all excited for the night and hoping I'd see some kind of activity, that was until I went on a ghost tour and all the stories scared me. I ended up being awake most of the night scared. At one point I know the bathroom light shut off for about 30 seconds then came back on again. (We left the bathroom light on and cracked the door to give a little light in the room) I was unable to wake my husband up so he doesn't believe me. After that I covered my head until I was able to fall asleep. Even though I was scared I'd definitely stay again.

Yelp
A piece of history on top of the hill in Jerome. Perfect place to have a delicious lunch. The view from the front porch is amazing. Wonderful staff. Interesting history. A must do while in AZ

This time stayed in the Deluxe Garden Room. Large bedroom and great sitting area with beautiful valley view. Five stars once again!

Yelp
I am a medium and I like to see what I feel at certain locations. I also love old buildings, antiques and history. This place had all of that. I stayed in room 11 with a friend. The room use to be the chefs room. There was a lot of paranormal activity through the night. We had a spirit box, and some other equipment. We also had two cameras in the room. When we played it back we saw two orbs around the bed as soon as we left to go out. We heard things in a couple of the hallways around 2:00 AM. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel also offers a complimentary breakfast.

Yelp
Such a cool hotel! It's a little pricy but so unique! Lots of antiques and beautiful furniture in the rooms and hallways. Definitely spooky and a little creepy at night but that's all part of the experience. You must stay there to explore the hotel so go check it out! And it's much cooler weather than Phoenix

Yelp
Boo! Don't be scared to stay at the Jerome Grand Hotel! Yes, you'll hear a variety of things throughout the night and you'll most likely get some real sleep during the day but you will definitely have a great time at this historic spot in Jerome. The front desk staff during our stay were amazing! They were so friendly and welcoming. There is a vintage elevator which requires a key to get it going and you have to open/close the doors manually. So fun! The lobby has a continental breakfast with coffee and juices which was great to nosh on as we decided where to go for breakfast later in the morn when things open. The room was appointed with a queen bed, bedside dressers, tall dresser, small table & 2 chairs and a tv. It was clean and quaint. You get a real room key ! Our room had a wonderful balcony with two lounger chairs that faced the mountain and we enjoyed having our morning coffee out there. Funny thing - there was a group seance in the middle of the night out in our hallway. We thought it was so funny to hear the people communicating with the spirits.

Yelp
We stayed overnight in room 11, which was the chef's room on the 1st floor, down the hall from the restaurant. At 2am I woke up to what sounded like arguing and yelling but I couldn't hear what was being said. It happened twice. Then I heard continuous noises that sounded like clanking from the pipes and walls. At 3am my cell phone lit up but no new notifications had come through. The room we stayed in was the room next to the maintenance guy's room. He was murdered and his body was found in the elevator with his head caught in between the elevator shaft. There is a picture of him with the other staff and there is just a black shadow over where his face is. We were told the picture was taken a year before his death. I asked the lady working the front desk the next morning if anyone reported a domestic dispute overnight and she said no. There wasn't anyone in the room next to us and it's really heard to hear conversations through the concrete walls. I know what I heard though. There's something in that hotel. Overall, I actually enjoyed my stay there. I didn't feel any evil presence because if I had I would have left and probably would have left my sleeping husband who snored all the way through the noises I heard. Nice staff and good continental free breakfast.

Yelp
A must stay if you're going to Jerome. Front desk is one of the nicest and most helpful staff we have seen. The room was perfect: clean, clean, clean. The bed was super comfortable as well. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We were visiting the area for one day for the history and the ghost stories so naturally we stayed at the grand hotel. We paid extra for the balcony room. The hotel was adequate but exactly what you would expect for a 100 year old facility. But you're not staying for the comfort you're staying for the ambience. Check in and check out were efficient and the staff was friendly. And bonus the breakfast had a wide variety for such a small hotel. Sadly we were there on a Monday when the restaurant wasn't open. We were able to walk into town. However, the road going up to the hotel and down is very steep so if you have any knee problems or respiratory issues, you should not try to walk into town. However, there was adequate parking in town. Some was free and some was pay. But note, we were there on a Monday and Tuesday so I'm not sure how crowded it would be on a weekend.

Yelp
What a great place to stay! The employees are super friendly! Hotel is walking distance to everything in town. We upgraded our room to a balcony room and that was the best decision! Yes it's kinda creepy but that's what you get for somewhere that has stayed pretty much original as can be! Elevator is neat! Room clean and bed comfy! Hubby did see the "ghost cat" right away on balcony! A relaxing, quiet place! And quite the experience like no other! We had the room that was the Nursery.

Yelp
We ended up staying at this hotel when we didn't want to leave Arizona and wanted to extend our trip a bit. I have seen this hotel on "Ghost Adventures" so was a little leary when it ended up being our only option and only had one room available. We decided to go for it. Being this is a known haunted location I felt like we prob wouldn't sleep but surprisingly got the best sleep we've ever had after having a few interesting experiences. When we first laid down there were some odd knocking noises on the wall behind us. It couldn't be neighbors because we were the furthest room you could get. The bathroom had an eerie feeling in there. I picked up the phone (hadn't called anyone) and heard voices. That was a little odd to me. Nothing being said was audible though. It wasn't like staying at the Ritz Carlton but everyone was friendly. For being a building as old as it is I feel it's well maintained. You can even ride on the original elevator. That was pretty neat. The whole hotel was like being taken back in time. They have the original phones there still operated by a switch board. Even if you aren't into the paranormal it isn't a bad place to stay. The rates are comparable to other hotels and much cheaper than Sedona hotels. The hotel and town overlooks Sedona. It's cheaper staying here and driving to Sedona than staying there. Jerome is a fun little town to go putz around and check out. Makes for a fun little weekend getaway.

Yelp
Impressive place! The old lobby is such a cool step back in time. Definitely worth the detour to see this.

Yelp
This hotel has a fascinating history not to mention the town itself! First and foremost, this is NOT the Hilton downtown Phoenix. So if you're expecting that, look elsewhere. This hotel is over 100 years old with a rich and interesting history. Converted from a hospital in the 1990's, the allure is the ghosts of course. We stayed in room #32. This room is normally booked out well in advance so we felt really lucky to score this room. Our night started out pretty quiet, but around 1:40 AM something tapped me on my right shoulder. Of course this woke me out of a dead sleep. It took a while to go back to sleep after this happened. There were a lot of noises of things that went bump in the night. We also felt a male presence in the room. We went into this experience appreciating the rich history and chance to stay in one of the most haunted rooms in AZ! Overall, great experience.

Yelp
I absolutely loved my one-night stay here. I really enjoy historic/haunted hotels and this place did not disappoint. It's not cheap but worth the experience. If you can't afford to stay here or if there's no availability, I recommend trying to snag dinner reservations at the Asylum so that you can at least see the hotel. Maybe they will let you take the elevator and briefly view the floors. +Amazing history. The Jerome Grand Hotel was previously the United Verde Hospital (1926-1950). There don't seem to be any official records but sources speculate that about 9,000 people died here. We stayed in Room 34, next to Room 32, which is notorious for the number of suicides that occurred there. +Old school elevator. It's self-service which is a really unique experience. The elevator has a dark history: it pinned a man to death in the basement in the 1930s. +Fun to explore. While we did not experience any ghostly encounters, we had fun exploring all the floors and taking creepy photos and videos. We noted that all the hotel rooms have huge doors, which I believe were built to allow for the movement of gurneys. We found an unmarked door on the top floor that had a large gash reminiscent of a hatchet. Weird! +Room. The rooms were quite nice for an old hotel. Clean. Comfortable bed. Nice bathroom with ample amenities. Large balcony with a gorgeous view of town. +Asylum restaurant. We chose not to eat at their restaurant and try one of the spots in town instead. Unfortunately, our chosen restaurant was closed. We weren't sure if it was too late to get a table at Asylum plus it was raining rather hard. We just ended up eating at a random restaurant which was mediocre. Upon returning to the hotel, we grabbed a drink at the restaurant bar. The ambiance was so pleasant that I really regretted not eating at the Asylum. +Awesome breakfast spread. Bagels, pastries, muffins, granola bars, nuts, yogurt, etc. A generous selection. Plus coffee and tea, of course. +Cute gift shop. They had some fun T-shirt designs (not the usual boring stuff). +Very friendly service from every employee that we encountered. -Parking lot. It's not a big lot but we had no problem finding a spot. However, we were there mid-week on a rainy night. I can see it being totally full on a busy night, especially considering restaurant visitors. Also, the road to get to the hotel is a bit narrow and anxiety-provoking. That being said, the hotel is located on a hill so they don't have much space to work with.

Yelp
I have been wanting to stay here for so long. I wanted to come for the haunted history, but the place itself was so worth the stay. We decided to stay in the 'grand suite', and that it is! I mean, you have two master suites, a queen size Murphy bed, two living room areas, a full kitchen, a piano, a foyer, the list goes on! Everything was clean and the staff were absolutely awesome! They answered so many of our teens' questions and told them lots of history on the place, even printing out a few articles on it for them! We, unfortunately, had no paranormal activity, and we tried. We brought all our ghost hunter stuff, but nothing. Also, unfortunately, we stayed on a Tuesday, which is literally the only day the Asylum restaurant is closed, but we knew that when we booked it. The continental breakfast was above and beyond what a normal one is. We thoroughly enjoyed it. I can't leave a review without mentioning the old time elevator. It was so cool and in perfect running condition. The view from the hotel is spectacular and I just can't rave enough about this place. We live about an hour away and will definitely come back!

Melanie P.

Yelp
my and my group walked up after a night out exploring this beautiful town, we drove 27 hours to come see this town and stay at this hotel, and were treated poorly by this very short and angry woman working at the front desk. we did not feel welcomed at all by the workers at this facility, maybe it's the bad spirits in this town that have possessed the physical presence of the very small woman working here, but if you're looking for somewhere comfortable to stay while in town, i'd recommend anywhere else

David B.

Yelp
This place is a joke. Don't ever stay here. If you make one stick of noise at all they will call the police on you and the reception workers are a joke and the place is dirty. Restaurant is terrible too that's supposed to be so great. A zero stars and hugely recommend you don't ever stay in this dump. Worst hotel experience ever.

Yelp
We stayed here last month on a Saturday night in one of the Balcony rooms facing the town of Jerome. The view from the balcony was amazing and I loved the old elevator with bars you have to slide shut each time you use it. I really liked their bathroom products as well. The makeup wipe was a nice touch. The room itself did not get very cold at night with the AC at full blast. It is located pretty conveniently to Jerome's main street. An easy 10min walk down or up the hill. I just think it was overpriced for what it is. You are just paying for the view.
google avatar

Michael P.

Yelp
Visited the restaurant and stopped in the hotel. I enjoy these so called haunted places. The star loss is that they don't offer any tour or area to see past the lobby unless you get a room. Other than that, the back story is amazing and the restaurant connected to the hotel make a very enjoyable visit. The driveway in is very tough with traffic as it is one lane.
google avatar

Yelp
We specifically came to Jerome to stay at the Grand for the ghostly background we heard so much about! We were so excited- I was so so excited- until night time came and I was TERRIFIED to shut my eyes. Long story short I didn't fall asleep until 5am but NOTHING happened. I got into my head and lost a night of sleep. However, this hotel is amazing and so are the staff! Everyone that worked there was always really sweet and never got annoyed with having to keep telling us about the hotels spooky past. The hotel as a whole is very clean and so are the rooms. We stayed in a standard queen with a connecting bathroom and closet which was both convenient and creepy because the closet doesn't have light! Yes we slept with lights on, but hindsight it wasn't needed. Maybe the spirits took pity on me once they saw how scared I was. Really enjoyed my stay!

Yelp
So, this hotel is a blast. A similar room in Southern California would cost twice as much, easily. Yeah, yeah, it's haunted and all that but that shouldn't be the real appeal. It's decor is fantastic and the 100 year old elevator alone makes this place worth a visit. You feel like you've stepped back in time in this place and you should definitely check out every floor--there are four. The room was ENORMOUS (we did pay for an upgraded size room) and it came with its own separate kitchenette with a huge fridge. The hotel is perched on a hill but it's a relatively easy 5-10 minute walk either into town or back from town. The short driveway to the hotel does NOT accommodate two-way traffic in both directions in one small portion of the road so just bear that in mind. We had a "valley view" room and the sunrise visible from our room was amazing. One of the best I've ever seen in my life. I'm not in Jerome often but I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Audrianna A.

Yelp
To preface my review, we love anything and everything paranormal and spooky, and given this hotels history, we knew we had to visit. We reserved a 2 queen bed room for 4 people, and the space was very accommodating. The room had its own thermostat, which for the age of the property was a nice bonus. We ended up staying in what was formerly the X-ray room. We have a bunch of ghost hunting equipment that helps us detect paranormal activity and presence around us, so we set a bunch of it up in the room. I will say we did get some interactions, but nothing truly terrifying. We noticed something/someone really liked the bathroom and the kitchen area, as it would interact with our equipment only in those spots. We also caught a Live Photo of a small dark shadow entering the bathroom, and upon discussion with the lady in the lobby, she mentioned it might've been the ghost of a cat that lingers around the property. We found this very comforting. We also had some interactions down in the dining area of the lobby. Late at night around midnight, we were actively (but also quietly and respectfully) conducting some of our own investigations in the halls of each floor, then we went down to the lobby as well. The employee at the time was talking to us about some of the other paranormal experiences that both she and other guests had reported. While we were talking about the ghost of Gurthie, a woman who passed and lost her baby, we heard what sounded like a doorknob jiggling. It sounded like it was coming from the bathroom of the dining area, however upon further investigation, realized the bathroom was empty and the sound was coming from the pipes. Altogether it felt almost like the ghost was trying to let us know she was with us and heard us talking about her, and she is regularly sighted on the floor she passed on. If spooky hunting is your thing, I definitely recommend you check this place out! Without our equipment, we wouldn't have experienced much outside of the jiggling we heard in the lobby, but with equipment it was a blast! We had REMPOD interactions, cat ball interactions, spirit box responses, and even think we caught something on our EVP in the ice room. We also caught a photo of the spirit in our room, as mentioned above. I'd definitely like to stay here again, although I would want to book Gurthie's room!

Yelp
First things first.... Definitely haunted. Me & my boyfriend stayed in the grand suite. The grand suite is huge! It also has a different smell in the suite compared to the rest of the hotel. The smell isn't awful but it isn't pleasant either, to me it smelled like wet cat food. We stayed one night which was enough for me. The hotel is old & sit at the top of the town. I like that they have the original elevator. The staff was very friendly. We didn't eat at the asylum restaurant inside the hotel, we did decided to eat at the haunted hamburger down the street ( walking distance from the hotel) i would recommend. Our paranormal activity experience was enough for me to never want to experience again to say the least lol. Our first experience was my boyfriend placed his jacket on the couch in the main room. We both left the room to come back to it on the floor but no where near where if it were to have fallen off the couch. I took a video tour on my phone of our suite, later on you can see an orb following me around. Our tv in one of the rooms ( the room we decided to sleep in) turned on for me but went straight to the tv guide and the channels kept changing/ scrolling through the guide without me touching any of the remote buttons. I couldn't get the tv to work so i turned it off. My bf came in and i told him that I couldn't get the tv to work but told him what happend with the channels. He tried to get the tv to work, but it wouldn't for him. He turns the tv around to look to make sure everything was plugged in properly. He was shocked what he saw. Only one cord was plugged in and that cord happen to be completely fried! He said the tv should have never even turned on! At night I didn't sleep but my bf did. I heard footsteps outside our room in the hallway walking towards the kitchen area. I also heard a noise 4 different times about 30-40 mins apart from each other. The sound was a chime dinging on metal in increments of 5. The sound seemed like it was coming from our room or near our room. I also have a video of my bf turning our lights off in the room and the light above us kept flicking even though it was switched off completely. I kept that light on throughout the night, the next morning i turned off to see if it flickered again, nope only at night. Later on afrer we checked out of our room, come to find out there is a voice in the video i took of the flickering light. The voice isnt mine nor my bf's, the room was silent when I recorded that video. The video also shows the tv in the background ( off) but you can see the red light go out of focus while i think a spirit walked past. I wouldn't go back not because of the rooms/ staff or anything like that, just because it scared me enough to not want to experience that again.

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! Jerome is an amazing little town with such an interesting history. It doesn't feel too touristy but still has plenty to do. The hotel doesn't overdo the haunted past - it still feels very authentic. There are antiques all over. The room keys are still actual keys and you also use your key in the elevator. They have notebooks in the lobby filled with other guests ghost experiences. We should have waited until morning to read these! Rooms have everything you would need and are clean. But remember, it's an older building and they have kept the old look to keep the feel. I highly recommend visiting Jerome and staying at the Jerome Grand Hotel. We didn't experience anything unusual! Thank goodness!

Yelp
Reception lady was the best. She gave us a great tour of everything along with the ghost stories!!!

Yelp
Our stay was AWESOME ! We only stayed for 1 night but the guy who checked us in on 8/22 was kind, helpful and had good vibes. The overnight gal who worked was super cool and we had fun chatting with her and a local sheriff. The hotel itself is maintained very well. Room was very clean and comfortable. The AC was so cold but adjustable and I like AC. The morning receptionist when we checked out on the 23rd was so sweet and had a great demeanor. We wandered the halls checking out the antiques and slept in their comfortable bed. Loved the pillows. I've always wanted to stay here at this hotel and finally had a chance and loved every minute. Definitely will come out this way again and revisit. A++++

Yelp
My finance and I have been wanting to take a trip to Jerome and stay at The Grand since we started dating in early 2019. I finally pulled the trigger and booked an overnight stay. Due to our work schedules, we went up on a weekday which I think worked in our favor as nothing was too busy the entire time we were there (the hotel, the restaurant, the shops in town). Here are some of the highlights of our stay: Check in/check out: I was originally told that guaranteed check in time was 4pm, but requested early check in over the phone the night before. The gentleman I spoke with put us down for noon. We got a phone call just as we were arriving in town and they had our room ready at 11am! They also gave us a noon check out time upon request (it's normally 11am) so all in all we got over 24 hours in the room. A major plus, in my opinion. Room: We stayed in Room 34 which was a valley view balcony room- definitely recommend! Moderately priced and we had an amazing view and were on the 3rd floor which is supposed to have the most spirit activity (if you're into that). Elevator: You have to try it at least once! I was a little bit nervous, but it was so much fun and felt just as safe as any modern day elevator. It was cool being able to see each floor as we passed it. Food: Definitely make plans to eat at Asylum Restaurant! It doesn't hurt to make a reservation especially on the weekend, but we had no problem getting a table with no wait. Check out my separate review on the restaurant with photos! There are also several delicious options just a short walk into town. Staff: I cannot say enough about the staff and the amazing job they did. From the front desk to housekeeping, they made our stay memorable. On our way out, my finance started a conversation with one of the housekeepers about the different rooms and she actually allowed us to walk through one of the Garden Rooms as well as the Grand Suite! She absolutely did not have to take time out of her day to do that, but she did and was an amazing little tour guide. We will absolutely be back to experience these rooms! Paranormal activity: We didn't see or hear anything "ghostly" during our stay here which was fine because that's really not why we came. We were aware of the history of the hotel, but were not actively seeking a paranormal experience. However....we were laying in bed when our lamp suddenly went out. We were a little spooked for a second until we realized that it had just come unplugged. We figured the bed knocked it out of the wall when we climbed in. I later read though that having bedside lamps and other appliances randomly unplugged is a common guest experience though so who knows? Maybe there was "someone" else there with us! Now...touring the Grand Suite (aka, the Surgery Room). THAT was something else! I am not big on ghosts and spirits, but I definitely felt something in the air change the second we walked in. It felt heavy and almost sad. Both my fiancé and I also smelled...something. It wasn't bad it just smelled different than the rest of the hotel. Like dust (they keep everything very clean so it wasn't that) or maybe even like cigar smoke? I can't quite put my finger on it, but if you are seeking a paranormal experience, definitely book the Grand Suite and do some exploring!

Yelp
It was an interesting night stay. As soon as I entered the room, I got the chills. The room I had use to be a baby nursery, it smelled like baby powder. Husband lost a sock, jerking to the balcony door during the night, and I was visited by a man that communicated with me. Staff was amazing and very nice. I will go back!

Yelp
My parents booked this hotel on our collective trip to the Grand Canyon. Very unimpressed. It definitely has an asylum vibe if that is what you're into - I am not. I did not know that it was haunted until I read the reviews just prior to checking in. One of the first reviews I read was regarding Room 32, which seems to have the most haunting activity. When we checked in, I made a comment to the front desk to "please not give us Room 32 or 35." Well to my dismay, we received Room 32 and 34. I told my parents that they could stay in Room 32. Fortunately, nothing happened; I did not notice any ghosts, but it was still a creepy place and I would not recommend it, particularly for the price, which was outrageous. My parents raved about Jerome, but my wife and I didn't see the allure other than the views, which were pretty spectacular. If we ever go back to Jerome (doubtful), we absolutely will not stay at this hotel. While the hotel staff were friendly, they were definitely on the rough side. Also, our room only had a single outlet for charging and not USB, etc. If you like the idea of staying in a haunted, dirty hospital, then this is your place. The owner must be making a lot of money.

Yelp
Lots of info for a first timer inside: We stayed in the Deluxe Guest room facing the Verde valley, room number 10. It holds up to 4 guests as there is a bed and a Murphy bed as well. The staff at The Jerome Grand are all so kind and helpful. Prior to our stay, Dana called me to confirm head count and stay, then asked if anyone in the party is military, veteran, teacher, etc. I let her know I'm a teacher and we have a veteran in our party, she put in a note to give me a discount right off the bat! Our room was ready for check in over 4 hours before our original check in time which was really great. They send you a text to let you know. There is free parking on the premises itself, but parking is LIMITED! It was a bit of a pain but we managed. You can use any of the "Pay to Park" spots all around the shops as well- it is $5 for all day and you can park in any of them throughout the day to get around if you choose not to walk everywhere. The hotel is a very old building, with that comes a feel of the past and small rooms. While rooms are pricey, you pay for the history, the popularity and the area. As a person who loves everything history related, I loved that the building is old, holds so much history and has old items including the elevator! The elevator glass is original, we were warned to be careful not to let it slam when opening and closing it. It was so cool to ride in such an old elevator. Our room was right next to the Asylum Restaurant where employees go in & out of, so it was pretty noisy until a while after closing time. We understood completely. The room was very clean! It has a fridge with a freezer, a microwave, a tv (which is not in the greatest spot) and all your bathroom needs as far as soaps, conditioner and lotion. We were well stocked on towels and toilet paper. We found out that our room was the Physical Therapy room, and they gave us a list of all the rooms and what they used to be which was really cool to keep. We explored the hallways, which was interested. The ice machine is on the 3rd floor and there's a random scale in it and the room smells funky. But overall we enjoyed our stay. A side note- the walls are thin between rooms. We had a group of girls next to us and at ~2:30 am till nearly 5, they were loudly talking, laughing, rummaging through the closet moving hangers, just overall being inconsiderate to those in rooms next to them. It kept all of us awake. This by no means is the hotels fault at all- just something that guests should know ahead of time!

Yelp
I won't lie... I slept with the light and TV on! I love Jerome and have wanted to stay in the Grand Hotel for awhile. My husband made reservations for my birthday and we stayed for a night. The hotel is clean and the staff is really friendly. I thought they might be burnt out talking about the history and paranormal experiences constantly, but they were all so nice and willing to chat and share stories. They keep a log of guest experiences and old photos in the lobby. I made the mistake of reading them before going up to my room for the night. Eek! The lobby has gifts for purchase, soda, water and snacks. In the morning, you can grab a pastry and coffee. The room was clean. It had a TV (which I needed), cable and WiFi. I read a couple of reviews that indicated the furnishings were old and dingy - that was not the case. Of course, the furniture is antique - but I would be disappointed if it wasn't. The elevator is the coolest part. It's not automated - you pull the doors open yourself and have to use your key to move up and down. Apparently a maintenance man was murdered under the elevator in the 1930s! (cue spooky music) The staff is happy to tell you the story. I will warn you, this is an old building. The walls are thin and lots of people "ghost hunt" at night, so you may experience some noise. The creeks and groans are probably normal, but spooked me a little given the history. Because it's an older building, you aren't going to get the same amenities you would in a recently built Holiday Inn - but that's not why you stay at the Jerome Grand Hotel. It's a little pricey but worth the experience. This place books quickly in peak Arizona tourist season and almost two years in advance for Halloween, so make your reservations early.

Yelp
Haunted...yes. Vintage...absolutely. Worth a stay? Yes. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. The rooms are straight out of the 40s (minus the flatscreen). Comfortable bed, cool shower and great view. Everything about this place is vintage. Overall it was a pleasant experience and I do recommend it. I was expecting paranormal experiences, but I didn't really get any. The creepiest feeling was walking into the room itself. With an extremely long drawn out creaking door, the hallways glistening in haunted brilliance, an elevator from 1926 that makes you feel like saying "you'll never get me copper, see (Jimmy Cagney tone)"...it's well worth a visit. I took a lot of photos and didnt get anything that really sticks out. I got some things that I brushed off to the flash or a speck of dust, etc. But the strangest feeling was entering the room. I felt like I was being watched which doesn't say much unless your experiencing it. I felt a presence upon entering but once settled in i think the spirit left. I felt like they thought 'ok he's too easy'. When you check in there's a photo album with photos of spirit activity caught on camera. The photos are legit and intriguing to look at. What was scary to me was the map of the hospital and finding your room on there and what it was back in the day. For example when I checked out I looked at it only to realize I had stayed in the sanitarium. Had I found that out before I would have been more hesitant and fearful. The halls have a 'Shining' vibe to it. The elevator is truly one of a kind and fun to operate, and the room is creepy but enjoyable. One thing to mention...the doors. The doors are huge. It definitely has a hospital feel to it. They're extremely wide. Overall I recommend staying here when you visit.

Yelp
Ok so after an hour of reading all of the reviews for this place, I was dumbfound and disappointed. Yes, I agree most of them were full of knowledge of the history of the Hospital/Grand Hotel due largely to social media, TV shows, and reviews. That's a good thing! But my experience is completely different. I had no knowledge of the paranormal activity on goings or social media/TV information on this place. All I knew of Jerome was that my grandfather was a copper miner and was injured in the mines when there was a partial collapse that sent many a men to the hospital for attention. Many perished, some healed and others scarred for life. The first time I went to Jerome was in 1994, (same time the Grand Hotel was waiting for the Grand Opening) when I did the Jerome Histological Museum and saw many photos of the copper miners and there in several photos was my grandfather, at first I thought it was my father, but knew he was just a child during that time. I wanted more information. At that time, I was directed elsewhere to find out more. Then the museum and parks closed due to budget costs and most memorabilia was lost during transportation to the holding site, and some never were cataloged. Now I have finally found some photos from the histological archives and can see the wonder of Jerome. I did return to Jerome two years later after the Grand Hotel had opened. My first experience of the hotel was when I first walked through the doors to the lobby; I was hit with a wave of pain, nausea, headache, it felt as though my leg and arm were being sawed off and I couldn't stand. It was fast and painful. I grabbed onto the check-in counter to hold myself up. The staff were aghast with how I looked, they said I was sweating and going pale and looked so pained. They had me sit down and drink water. That's when I noticed the guests books on the counter. So I started reading through them. Wow, the experiences people had here was so overwhelming and interesting I sat there trying to read as many as I could (about 10 mins) before I had to walk outside of the building and sit. After a couple of mins being outside that pain, nausea, headache all went away. Hubby decided to go in and take as many pictures as he could and to check out the place. We do go back every couple years, and yes as usual I get the pain and suffering of others so I can only stay in the hotel for a few minutes at a time. But we go to see it when we have out of stators come to visit and I stay outside or walk around as they tour the hotel. I advise anyone who goes, please take the time to stop and read the guest books, great stories and not the ones you see on social media/TV show......but actual personal experiences....and who knows, you may run across my story as well!

Yelp
Had a lovely anniversary weekend here. Clean and cozy room, excellent staff. No ghosts for us except a few weird knocks and our room key going missing and showing up in his pants pocket. The elevator is so cool. Really a nice visit with great people and a fun way to spend the weekend. The town of Jerome is just adorable. Thanks for a fun stay!

Yelp
The grand hotel is a somewhere i have been wanting to come and stay overnight for a long time. Located up on the hill in Jerome, this place definitely needs to be added to the bucket list. The place itself gives off vibes from The Shining but adds to the experience of it all. COVID precautions are in place and staff is very friendly in answering questions and also adhering to precautions. I love that the original elevator to the hotel is still in use which adds to the charm amongst other things. Check in was a breeze and they even offered a small continental breakfast in the morning which was perfect. The views were also another treat of this place. Looking out into the valley, this offered awesome photo opportunities. I enjoyed my overnight experience and was glad I did not see anything too spooky. Looking forward to future trips up here.

Yelp
We didn't stay the night we just went to check it out. It's a very cool hotel high up on the hill with lots history.

Yelp
The Jerome Grand Hotel is a historic property with a long and interesting history. Originally the United Verde Hospital, this Spanish Mission style building served the area from 1927 to 1950. It started it's life as a hotel in 1994. There are many historic pictures and antiques displayed throughout the building. I recommend the Balcony Rooms in the front of the hotel. Located on the third floor each room with a private balcony overlooks the Verde Valley and the town below. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. A complementary continental breakfast is available in the lobby. No tables are available so plan on taking the food to your room.

Yelp
Quaint and very clean. A piece of history in every room. Room 12 very quiet. Right downtown and walking distance to the shopping and restaurants.

Yelp
11/1 @ 3am Anticipation hoping to see something or something to happen. Set my alarm for 3 am. Went outside my room and took a picture of the clock in the hallway. Then took a tour on all 3 floors. I had a friend video recording me as I took pictures. Went home to review all my pictures and caught a few images. 2 pictures were completely black. Then I zoomed in. You can really see an image. Please tell me what it is. Not a good feeling. The picture look demonic. Totally did not expect this.
