Jesmond Dene House

Fantastic few nights away. We had a superior double overlooking the forest so nice and quiet. Had all the amenities you'd expect except tissues! We ate out mostly but breakfast was delicious. Really friendly staff. Great location in the Dene and very close to shops and restaurants in Jesmond or a short hop in the Metro into town. Will definitely be back.

Beautiful hotel set in a peaceful location on the edge of Jesmond Dene Park. We stayed in the Apartment suite which was outstanding! The roof terrace really added a unique touch to a well furnished, comfortable and beautifully designed suite. Breakfast was lovely with a range of options. We received excellent service from all staff we dealt with during our stay.

Loved our experience here! The staff were superb, very attentive and welcoming, and the food was excellent as well! We will definitely be returning, as the menu had so many items worth trying. Lovely atmosphere in the garden as well, and staff look after you regardless of whether you are within their direct line of visibility - they still remember you are there.

I chose Fern to dine with Family and the experience did not disappoint. My Husband and I arrived first so sat in the Bar and had a drink. Service was friendly and attentive whilst still being professional and we were given some bar snacks whilst we waited for the rest of the party. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing with a good playlist and helpful staff. Once the rest of the family arrived we had an amuse bouche served to the table in the bar which was a lovely touch and delicious!||We then moved through to the table which was situated in the beautiful Garden room overlooking the Hotel Garden and it was a beautiful setting. Service again was efficient but also we didn't feel rushed throughout the entire Evening which I do think is rare when dining in Newcastle. There is the offering of the Full A La Carte, but also the Bar and Terrace Menu if you wanted to opt for something a little more casual and a lovely Drinks and Wine List. ||The food was outstanding, full of flavour, decent portion sizes and a great choice to choose from. A really lovely Evening, would really recommend for either a special occasion or just a great meal. Excited to try their Sunday Lunch and also attend their Summer Events!

Went here for a evening meal during restaurant week so the cost was considerably reduced. The main menu is a little pricey, but the special menu which was a little limited was very reasonable. This is one of the best meals I have had in a long time in great surroundings with excellent service. Well worth a visit.

Jesmond Dene House is a wonderful old building set in woodland and a pleasure to visit however on a recent overnight stay the service was somewhat lacking a dietry request made previously for afternoon tea was ignored, the staff were not particularly attentive, an evening meal from the bar was given without cutlery first and condiments, the staff member did not care, dirty dishes were left and not cleared away from the outside area and we were not asked if we required anything else. In the morning hot breakfasts were served COLD, the waitress who removed the plate did not enquire why most of one breakfast was left, on being asked at the reception if everything had been alright I did mention all of the above, a further email sent to Jesmond Dene House when I arrived home has been ignored. As said a beautiful building in a wonderful setting but disappointing service all round.

Let's start with the best bit: the staff. Everyone was absolutely superb and very friendly, especially Holly on reception who went above and beyond to help us enjoy our stay.|Hotel location is excellent. We purposely chose to stay out of the town centre as we wanted peace and quiet. However, there was a wedding on the Friday night and the music didn't finish until midnight, whereas most hotels follow the 1996 Noise Act guidance and have 11pm as the "cut off" time.|Our room was a little tired so, if you stay, I would recommend asking for a refurbished room. Our late check in time (5pm) meant that we were given what was left.|I'd stay again but only if there wasn't a wedding and in a refurbished room.

Visited hotel on Friday 11th July with my daughter-in-law’s mother and close friend for afternoon tea. A Mother’s Day surprise from the family. The service was just terrible and staff were either non existent or when they did provide a service they forgot requests not least for simple things like water and different plates for savoury and sweet dishes. Fortunately the weather was lovely so we just put up with the slow and forgetful service. No apology offered and would never return. A lovely present but a disastrous experience.

My family stayed at Jesmond Dene House for one night in November... We were in town for a Newcastle game and this was conveniently located, reasonably priced, and accommodated the four of us in one room (one king bed and one pull out). We had some drinks at the bar before the game and enjoyed our breakfast the next morning. Staff were mostly friendly! Thanks for a memorable 24 hours, JDH!

TL;DR - Best of the best. Second to none. What can I say about this place? It's wonderful. Marvelous. Outstanding. Firstly, the place itself. It's a gorgeous building which has been lovingly restored in a taseful and stylish way. The gardens are gorgeous, and the setting is great being so close to Jesmond Dene itself. We stayed here once and the room was probably one of the nicest hotel rooms I've ever had. Everything was perfect, right down to the handwritten welcome note from the staff. Secondly, the service is amazing. It's a perfect example of how customer service should be done - staff are polite and courteous, never overly informal. They're always there when you want them, but they never get in the way. And finally, the food. Oh my word... utterly, utterly spectacular. Some of the nicest food I've ever eaten was here. Classic example: my partner hates black pudding and won't eat it anywhere... except at Jesmond Dene House because he implicitly trusts everything they make and he loves it here!

Decent hotel. You get what you pay for. The staff are the best and the breakfast is amazing. The owner of the hotel is a bit rude and annoying but the kind staff make up for him. Definitely recommend this budget hotel.
