First time visiting this store and it was great. Christopher was very friendly and knowledgeable. My wife and I purchased hiking shoes and I went home and signed up for fly fishing lessons and the 3FT. Can’t wait to return. Thank you!

I ordered a Christmas gift from Jesse Browns Outdoors and had a small issue with my order so I messaged them online. I got a very fast response from them and they were able to fix my issue in record time. I am completely blown away by the level of customer service that I received which was 100% above and beyond from what I was expecting. I will be a repeat customer with Jesse Browns thanks to their top notch level of customer support and also their great selection of merchandise. 10/10!!!.

I always enjoy myself at Jesse Browns Outdoors outstanding Fly Shop. The Personnel that work there are always very helpful friendly and kind. Good place to go for your fishing and outdoor activities and equipment. I also appreciate them assisting with project Healing Waters that is an organization for disabled veterans. They do an outstanding job and just want to say thank you we always enjoyed spending time with you all.

Google
Amazing online ordering experience! I found a Patagonia zip-up for a great bargain but was hesitant to buy from a retailer I hadn’t heard of previously online. Let me just say - so glad I took the chance because the whole experience was amazing! Not only were their prices great but they shipped my item out so quickly and it arrived packaged with extreme care and a handwritten note. Thank you for going above and beyond! I will be a regular customer now :)

Fly Fishing Charlotte: I ordered bead head nymphs on February 11, 2025….only $36 worth, but it’s the end of June 2025…I’ve contacted you several times…still haven’t sent me anything…very disappointed.

I can't say enough wonderful things about my purchase from Jesse Brown's Outdoors! What a wonderful, caring, quality store this is! Such a beautiful, personalized message I received from them! I love this place. I live two hours from here, I have been twice only. I bought a pair of VFF (Vibram FiveFingers) shoes. The staff, especially Turp, are absolutely friendly, helpful people. I had to return my shoes as a toe, the rubber sole, was peeling off of the fabric. It’s not the stores fault, they do not manufacture the shoe, they sell them. I was not upset with Jesse Brown’s Outdoor. Vibram, that’s a different story and a separate review. I called them and they said they would replace it as it was only 3 days ago I bought them. They did not have the size that I had bought, that was more than okay. I asked if I could exchange for a different shoe, Merrell. The Merrell has a Vibram outsole, it is not a toe shoe, it is a Zero Drop shoe. I will be back to this place when I want to buy more outdoors stuff, or shoes. They are awesome, friendly, and caring. They apologized many times for something not under their control. 10/10 would recommend.

I ordered a Mantis 2 Waist pack from their website and received it very quickly! They included a handwritten card, hand wrapped my bag, and gave me a sticker along with it. UNBELIEVABLY good customer service. Will definitely be shopping here again. Thanks guys.

Yelp
I took a fly fishing basics class with a few friends at Jesse Browns and was so impressed by Griffins knowledge and passion for the sport. He explained all the ins and out of fly fishing at a basic level, but it was clear he was happy to explain more. He met us at our level! He was also a wonderful demonstrator and teacher. After the class he also gave us recommendations for the best rivers and lakes to fly fish in and some stay and guide recommendations! The class exceeded expectations!

Yelp
Great store, variety of clothes, brands and outdoor gear. There is something for everyone in the family from the guys, women, youth, and dogs. All the workers are very attentive, eager to help out. My in-laws enjoy coming to the store every time they are on town from Eastern NC. Our family enjoys their Patagonia selection. And their free wrapping it's always a plus. Thank you Jesse Brown.

Yelp
I used to love this store as a smaller, local-er alternative to big chains like REI. I've been dropping by from time to time for several years now. I'm honestly surprised they've managed to survive for so long. However, they do seem to have a hand on a niche market - fly fishing. If I did any fly fishing, I'd be in here for sure to get geared up. Nearly half of the store is dedicated to fly fishing. It's a novel experience to come by and check out all the flies even if you don't actually do any fishing. Nowadays though I don't bother going to that part of the store. They have a good selection of shoes and hiking boots, several knives and utility tools, clothes, jackets, underwear, backpacks and bags. There are some knick-knacks throughout for camping, hiking and the outdoor lifestyle but the selection and variety is very limited. On a recent stop in here I was looking at bags and the shopkeeper asked if I needed help. I struck up a conversation about what bag I was specifically looking for and mentioned that they didn't have it. He just kinda said "oh" and that was about it. Didn't offer to look around for me in case I was missing something. Didn't offer to order it in for me online. It was an incredibly awkward experience. In fact, it sort of compares to many of my recent visits in here because staff has not always been particularly engaging. They seem to just stare at you intently as you walk around the store browsing. Like they think you'll swipe something. The prices are a bit high on things. But prices are always high on outdoor gear, really. They'd be the same at about any other outdoors store. The thing here is that, being a local shop, they can't really offer the sort of membership-based, nationwide deals that big chain stores can.

Yelp
They have everything you need for your outdoor adventure. Whether it is a walk in the park, a mountainous hike, a fishing trip, or a snowy camping excursion. Everyone is Friendly and very helpful. Lots of Yeti things for gift giving too.

Yelp
I took up fly fishing a while back, and you can find whatever you want in that regard at Jesse Brown's. Lately they have been my stop of choice when shopping for Tevas or Keens. They didn't have the Teva flip-flops I was looking for, but the guy showed me Keens and now I never take the dang things off my feet! A good collection of the "Life Is Good" clothing line can also be found here. This particular location is in the shopping area across from SouthPark Mall, and is up on the second level.

Yelp
The shop is constantly changing with the seasons to stay relevant in outdoor gear. They have all the big brands and quality merchandise you would need for outfitting your outdoor adventure. They regularly mark down items by season. I feel like the store is primarily a fly fishing store that had the space to include trendy outdoor items. Most of their items are aesthetic with a functional combination. These are the items you see the guy or girl that "wants to look the part and has the money" but has never actually done any of the sports or just dabbles in it every few months.

Yelp
Shop local when you can, folks. And this store is a great place to start. It's pretty homegrown and simple. Outdoor apparel, gear and shoes. It's not a Dick's or REI, but it doesn't want to be. Recently, I found a pair of "lonely only" shoes that were originally $100, marked down 65%. So $35 for a pair of shoes that retails much higher, even online (my go-to reason for not buying something in a store)...can't beat it! The man working said he had just marked them down because they were the last pair. SCORE! It's a good mixture of helpful customer service and leaving you to shop, which I appreciate. I loathe hovering employees who do nothing but talk up products. If I want help, I can ask for it. These guys get it right. They also do killer end-of-season clearances that are worth looking into. Last year I found a Patagonia jacket for more than 50% off. Again, can't beat that. And I appreciate knowing my money is going right back into the local economy, instead of a big box store's stock prices. Go to Jesse Brown's. Support local business. And who knows what treasure you might dig up?

Yelp
Love the store and have always been treated well there. I was shopping for a new pair of hiking boots. When the owner saw the boots I had he recommended that I just get them re-soled instead of buying a new pair from him because 'they don't make then like that anymore' . He gave me a person to contact and I was very happy with the work. I did go back later to buy a lighter hiking boot for short hikes. Love them too. I have gotten great advice from them on every product I have purchased and they have shared information about events that I may be interested in the Western North Carolina area to boot.

Yelp
Though Jessie Brown's isn't in the most accessible or likely location, it is easily one of my favorite places to buy gear and apparel. I've been coming here for the past couple of years and have always found items that were difficult to come by, deals that couldn't be resisted and always helpful staff. Though some of the gentlemen tend to have a bit of an attitude, they are always willing to help you find what you're looking for. The layout and decor is really welcoming and has a great feel. These guys have a great selection from different brands. North Face, Arcteryx, Patagonia, Marmot, and some others. I also really dig that they have a good selection of climbing shoes and gear. Their shoe selection is always packed with all different levels of outdoor need. I've never purchased one from these guys, but they have a killer selection of knives, too. In the past couple of years I've purchased plenty of MSR camp stove canisters from these guys. They always have a plethora. Also picked up a nice Thermarest from here. Most recently, my wife and I were looking for a nice mid-layer jacket for the winter for her. We checked out a few different options in the women's section and ended up scoring a great deal on a hooded zip from Patagonia. It was on crazy sale, too. Don't remember exactly how much we ended up paying, but I know it was close to 60% off from the previous year. If I'm ever looking for something particular, Jessie Brown's always has it or at least something comparable. Love coming to this local shop!

Yelp
My go to in Charlotte for outdoor gear. Great selection of Patagonia, Arctyrx and North Face. Everyone is very friendly and wants to help but is not over-bearing. They also have a great fly fishing selection if you're looking for that.

Yelp
I just ordered a knife from their online store. It turns out their picture was wrong and I got the wrong blade. I wrote them and Tiphany immediately sent me a prepaid FedEx label to return the knife and express mailed me a more expensive replacement at no cost. I'm very satisfied with my experience with them.

Yelp
Great locally owned store that specializes in all sorts of outdoor gear. They are very helpful and will be happy to assist you if you need a special order for anything.

Yelp
We drove 30 minutes to this store to get some hiking boots and arrived 15 minutes before closing only to find that the store closed early for no reason. Very disappointed. I would avoid this store.

Yelp
These folks are great! Awesome selection of camping gear, apparel, and fly fishing gear. The customer service has always been amazing, it's my go to place for gear and knowledgeable information.

Yelp
I wish i could say good things about this business, but unfortunately they've chosen to mistreat their customer. Let me first start by saying I have shopped here for all 26 years I have been in Charlotte. I have spent thousands of dollars at this store. I was told I would receive 15% off my entire purchase for buying 3 pairs of socks. I asked if this applied to by boots purchase, he said yes. I then asked again when he rang me up, he said yes. I got home to discover the boots had not been discounted. I called them up, only to be told that this was not the case and I would not be receiving a discount. Not only that, the guy lied and said he never said the discount included the boots. Seems like it would have been worth it to give me the $20 discount than to lose a customer for life. That is not how you treat a loyal customer, and unless they decide to fix their mistake, I will not be recommending this store to anyone - try Great Outdoor Provisions if you want a local business with a good selection and nice folks.
