Nice, sometimes cool sandbars, lots of seaweed and often very very crowded. A bit out of the way by foot but there is a shuttle that leaves from near the whaling museum.

Chris Lopez

Google
The beach was very calm and had many shell gathering opportunities. This did bring a bigger crowd than some other beaches on the island.

This beach is very easy to access of you’re staying near downtown. We opted to walk and it only took us about 17 minutes from Walter’s Deli where we got sandwiches to bring with us. There are a lot of shells and the first few steps into the water is very murky/hard to walk on, covered in seaweed and shells BUT once you get past that it’s beautiful and there’s a sandbar not too far out that is amazing! Our only caution is BEWARE of the seagulls here. They are very aggressive. We took our sandwiches out as we got there around 11:30 and my boyfriends almost had his literally snatched out of his hands by one!! It was wild. We kept shooing the same two away until a dog or child would run by and they would come back. We laughed it off but then another couple sat near us and weren’t so lucky. They did have there sandwich plucked from their towel as soon as they took it out and it was like a scene from the movie Birds. Seagulls everywhere diving and ripping it apart until they took it to the water. Be very cautious while eating here!!! Otherwise great beach that we enjoyed for a good portion of our afternoon!

Jetties Beach was accessible and very sandy. It has a calm sandbar 50 meters out in the water that is fun to swim to. Crystal clear water.

It’s a nice beach that’s an easy an bike ride from town. Some sections of the beach have a lot of shells. There is a sandbar is nice to stand in a d enjoy the waves.

Google
Can get crowded, but still can find the spot. The bar is close and I really like the seashells everywhere 🐚

Corinne Moskal

Google
This beach is heaven! Especially with Sandbar right there with oysters and frozen Margaritas 🍹The water tends to be shallow way out so you can just sit on the ocean floor and enjoy the perfect temperature.

Great beach spot for fun time to bathe in the sun and chill in the water.

Yelp
Are we fucking serious. I mean shoot me in the damn foot. Sit down right, order some drinks everything's going smoothly. Next thing I know we throw in food. Get a tender and fries for 20 bucks and I didn't get my food till the table was done eating. SO NOW. I'd say I'm a wee bit mad angry everything death. Then waiter complains that she "busted her ass" to get me my food. YEAH OKAY. We then get checks with random things we didn't get on it. All jumbled. I'd rather go to eat mud than eat at this place again.

Yelp
I feel like Sandbar is iconic Nantucket, if you've visited Nantucket you've been here. My take, is that if you want to feel like you checked all the boxes that you hit all the touristy spots, then sure, go to Sandbar. If you're at the beach and you're hungry and don't feel like walking to town, perfect spot. Personally, I wouldn't go out of my way to go here. I've ended up dining here at least five times over the years, because it's a great location for kids. Tons of kid friendly options and right on the beach. I got the street corn and I definitely won't be having it again, it was absolutely loaded with messy crema that really just masked the flavor of the corn. The clam chowder was just okay. For a spot right on the beach on an east coast island, I'd expect more. The fried fish however is wonderful no matter how you have it, I loved the tacos and the fish and chips, the fries were great. If you go here please get the fish tacos, seriously. The desserts are hoodsie cups and popsicles, I'd recommend the short walk to Juice Bar. The service is average. The busy ambiance is fun if you're into that, but I see it more as an hour wait for an average American meal. If you plan on going to Nantucket more than once, go here and have it be a one and done.

Yelp
I have Picture this: A seemingly endless stretch of sand with just enough seagulls to remind you of nature's indifference to your beachside mojito. The drinks? Generous, much like your uncle's vacation stories. The food? A pleasant mishmash of sea and land fare that's more adventurous than my last research paper. But let's get to the point - the views. Oh, the views! Endless horizons that might make you ponder your life choices, right before another cocktail interrupts that train of thought. Service is usually friendly, with just enough delays to remind you that time's a construct, man. Would I recommend it? Absolutely. It's like a beachside symposium minus the intellectual debate. Bring your shades, but leave your existential questions at home. They don't tip well.

Yelp
Casual cocktails with a beautiful view ~ A Nantucket must visit!

Erin H.

Yelp
The drinks were amazing, the atmosphere was awesome - can't beat lunch on the beach. My food was good, especially the clam chowder. My friend's clam po boy was a little weird, but it was okay. All of the food looked fantastic and the servers were attentive and super nice, even in the summer heat!

Mike M.

Yelp
Are you going for top quality food and service at great value? If so not the spot. If you want to hang out by a top tier beach, enjoy the views and people watching and have a beer then you are at the right spot. If you are at the beach and want a quick bite I would suggest the togo window. The food is basic but decent. I took a look around the kitchen and was busy and not so sure how clean. If you need a restroom break head back through the shop building. The oysters are cheaper and on menu but not sure I would try them there. Could not see shucking or how fresh they were. Good spot for a swim break.

Yelp
This is a fantastic location. Right on the beach and perfect view of the sunset. We had planned to just sit and have drinks and got there about an hour and a half before close and got a table within 15 minutes. We had enjoyed the atmosphere and weren't told until we ordered a 2nd round at last call that we were also required to order food. We ordered just one app for a group of 4 and received the dirtiest look from the server. I was ready to respond by saying that information should've been told to us when we put our name in and not at last call if it was such a big deal. We had still spent $75 on drinks alone so not sure what difference a $12 app makes at 7:45pm when you close at 8. Definitely worth going for the view but just be mindful of this unspoken rule.

Cheyenne B.

Yelp
Food was great, atmosphere was great. Sold me a full lobster and then didn't have crackers to get after the claws. Still charged full price with nothing more than a "sorry oh well. Can I bring you dessert?" Half of my $50 lobster went to waste because they didn't have the right tools and then didn't even bother with a discount or a sincere apology or anything. Really frustrating on my last night of vacation. Sour taste walking out with a $100 check feeling cheated.

Peter R.

Yelp
Great place for fun drinks - a must visit while on the isle of Nantucket. You need to try Mr. Happy..

Yelp
ive been coming to this establishment for 10+ years and have loved my experience every time until today... I wanted to support this local business by buying some cute merchandise but when I went to check out there was an astonishingly rude and incompetent older woman working amongst a bunch of young teenagers. I was informed her name was LD, she took up 10 extra minuets of my time to complain about her job and boss around younger workers in an unacceptable tone. When I learned she was not a manager but held the same job title as these young kids and was treating them with such disrespect, I was very surprised one of my favorite restaurants on ACK would hire and allow such a rude woman to continue working here. The teens around her seemed to work much harder, be more mature and care for the costumers much more. I still love sandBar but leaving there today after my experience with such a negative woman made me want to write this review for the children working around her sake.

Yelp
Exactly what you'd expect! Vibes are good, food and drinks are delicious. We had a lobster roll, shrimp tostada, and fish tacos. Shrimp tostada is spicy so beware! We also got the sandbar sunset and a mudslide and both were deliciousssss. We got drinks and sat on the chairs to watch the sunset before we got our table. !!! You cant order food past 8!!!!!

Meg C.

Yelp
I really liked this casual restaurant. It's right on Jetties Beach which makes it great for grabbing lunch while your there! I love Nantucket, I feel very safe, so I just leave my towel and chairs on the beach while I'm eating. Pets are welcome for outside seating. Its casual, comfy and tasty (not the healthiest) food. I loved their wings! They also have a great grilled cheese with tomato and bacon. You can eat literally on the sand at tables, in colorful adirondack chairs or on their patio. There is a parking lot but it can fill up during good beach days. Casual attire, shoes required. For lunch and dinner Occasional live music at dinner too

Heather R.

Yelp
No complaints at the Sandbar. We had a great server and only a 20 min wait on a Saturday at 1pm in August (though, an overcast day). I've had better lobster rolls but this was great for the price $(36)

Mary T.

Yelp
We were spending the day at this fantastic beach and got a bit hungry. Their lunch menu is super limited and as we were just tired of fried food this week, we opted for clam chowder. It tasted like doctored up canned soup. I wished we had brought our own food! I gave it one star because it had a really nice fun vibe. I think we may have liked the dinner menu and wished they had better offers at lunch.

Yelp
Absolutely delectable. This is my second time going and it's just as amazing as ever. Food is fairly priced for down here, and there is no lack of quality. The service is good and moderately fast, which is still impressive for the 200+ people dining here at a time. Perfect for all ages, there is a beach and a playground, and the location is absolutely perfect. 10/10

Caroline D.

Yelp
Most amazing fish and chips! Beautiful place to watch the sunset. Painkiller drinks were fab! Start your ACK vacation here!

Kathleen O.

Yelp
Great location. Drinks are served in plastic cups, which is why I took away a star. Drinks are good.

Vanessa H.

Yelp
I love sandbar. The whole vibe of the restaurant and experience; food and beverage either in sand or on the deck. Sandbar has it all, ocean views, family friendly environment, great food, drinks, merch and affordable prices. I have been a regular customer for years with my family of 3, and has always been a spot I recommend to tourists and friends to visit while they're on island. Every visit we are always delighted by the positive energy each staff member brings to our overall experience. Each of them are so personable, helpful, kind, and attentive. It was, until, this past week we were served by a young lady named Ella. The whole time she waited on us, we felt as if we were bothering her- her attitude was horrible, unkind, and neglecting. I am unsure why someone this rude would be in the service industry to begin with because, after all, the rest of the staff at Sandbar always ensures you have a wonderful time. I feel sad that she made us feel so badly, especially because we brought our in laws for their first time, and we had spoken so highly about the restaurant and staff. It was such a shame- this girl should seek jobs that do not involve customer service. My star review is for this particular evening

Nicole E.

Yelp
Anyone that doesn't like this place, is on crack. It has the most laid back, gorgeous views. There are tables inside and outside with a clear view of Jetties beach. The service is impeccable and the servers are at your beckon call every moment. They are the friendliest servers on island. We had the oysters, mr happy cocktail, fishers island lemonade, fish and chips and fish tacos and everything was DELICIOUS. The cocktails are fresh and simple - I loved them. If you're not happy when you are here, you won't be happy anywhere. One of the most reasonably places spots on the island and they always have oysters for a $1 from 3-5pm. I highly recommend stopping by for lunch. GREAT spot and the food and drinks are 5 stars.

Asia R.

Yelp
Had the best time here! Great server named Ethan. We were blown away by his kindness and attentiveness. This place is always great, but the service this time was particularly great. We got the sandbar sunset and gripahs. As a Nantucket regular I highly recommend!!!

Andrea M.

Yelp
Love this place but it's definitely gone downhill since it changed ownership. The food used to be so good and now it's just run of the mill bar food. What happened to the caprese salad with bartlett tomatoes or the lobster salad? Such a bummer. Buck a shuck is still fun though. We just do that now and get drinks and fries! Oh well.

Lana J.

Yelp
Great bar to stop into after you leave the beach. Delicious frozen drinks. I'm taking off a star because buck a shuck lasts until 5pm - we sat down next to the raw bar at a bar seat at 4:30 - and asked probably 5 different people for our waiter so we could order. (Can't order directly at the raw bar) Each person kept saying the bar back would come around soon....literally 5pm on the dot someone comes to take our order & says unfortunately we couldn't do the buck a shuck.

Sam L.

Yelp
Really awesome beach bar with live entertainment and great drinks! The view here is incredible and the prices for food are reasonable compared elsewhere, especially for happy hour oysters! Bar can get a little crazy at times but you just gotta get in there and make your presence known! Overall great place - definitely check out the gift shop while there too, dope gear

Laura W.

Yelp
So much fun! Great bar, great food and great service! Loved the bartender named Mary and our server named Bella - both were so nice and attentive. Buck a shuck was fun too! Views of the ocean were incredible!

Em K.

Yelp
Great fish tacos! Great service! We were catching the ferry late to go back to the cape and knew the stores were going to be closed. We asked if we could have some lime wedges to go-kind of an annoying request But we "needed' then for our cape codder drinks. The waitress said no problem and gave us some wedges without charging us. She was great. We will be back again!

Michael B.

Yelp
All hail the almighty Nantucket beach bar All hail the almighty Nantucket beach bar All hail the almighty Nantucket beach bar All hail the almighty Nantucket beach bar All hail the almighty Nantucket beach bar

Melissa F.

Yelp
Amazing blacked swordfish sandwich! The service was great and the view of the water was the frosting on the cake.

Andrea M.

Yelp
Nice place on the beach for drinks! We were able to get chairs with no wait. We got drinks and the homemade chips which were amazing! We also stayed for buck and shuck and my boyfriend really enjoyed the oysters. Nice relaxing vibes.

Brian B.

Yelp
Rude service, I covered my face with my towel to speak the hostess outside because my mask got soaked at the beach. I was standing outside when we spoke, she kept asking me "huh?" "Huh?" Huh?", so I slid my towel down a bit so she could hear me. She then rudely asked me to have someone else with a mask on speak to her, when I was clearly 6 ft away I understand we are in tough times, but come on, really? There are other people that walking around the place without masks. Won't be spending my money here.

Jess F.

Yelp
great service, atmosphere, and food. our server was perfect and the clam chowder was the best I've had.

Nan S.

Yelp
Fantastic food. Everything we had was delicious. Service is excellent. No reservations just come and put your name in. Awesome beach setting. Great vibes.

Linda E.

Yelp
Bella was our server.... was SOO AWESOME!! She provided amazing service and was very nice seeing that it was fairly pretty being the 4th of July! Definitely recommend, 10/10!

Tim L.

Yelp
Great location and atmosphere. Beautiful sunset on the beach while lounging in chairs. The service leaves a lot to be desired. The bartenders are unprofessional and drinking heavily while ignoring customers. Not to mention it's $16 for a tiny frozen drink and $60 for a sweatshirt. But that's Nantucket, I guess.

Erin C.

Yelp
Brand new rockin' menu! Great location!! Cute gift shop with tons of toys and gear for the beach. Delicious food! Had the Cuban sandwich and the street corn. YUM!! Will definitely be back!

Sydney S.

Yelp
Waiters lied to us and said they didn't have oysters for buck a shuck we ordered our food and she came back and said they actually had oysters. Now I have food poisoning.

Nicole B.

Yelp
Horrible. Wasn't going to write a bad review but maybe it will spare someone from wasting their appetite and time. We went at 3:30 so there was an extremely limited menu. Oysters were great. Ordered the only meal that looked appetizing, Caesar salad with chicken. I barely got any lettuce, and the chicken was supposed to be grilled but it was baked or boiled and had some weird Buffalo seasoning on it and it looked like a 5 year old cut the chicken. Mom got Caesar with shrimp they gave her 3 cocktail shrimp. Bill was $75 plus tip to still be hungry. Bathrooms were disgusting. Don't mind paying Nantucket prices but serve Nantucket quality.

Ai K.

Yelp
Beautiful location, of course. But employees need customer service training or basic people person training. Worst Take out counter service ever. I've never seen a kid who takes order just stares at you without greeting and hands you food without asking if we need a bag. Explaining how long it takes helps when they are busy. Being apologetic for missing items help. They are young, but common, it's not acceptable. Souvenir shop person wasn't helpful(adult), either. Is this what we get when we don't have an option?

Dj M.

Yelp
I have been disappointed by this restaurant before. Unfortunately, my family loves the location- and who wouldn't. The food is OK but not great. We waited 90 mins - 30 mins past the time the host told us; the table was dirty and sticky ( I watched an employee wash half a table and was pulled away for something else- never finished the clean). I will never return. There were to many health violations I witnessed by the staff and the atmosphere just sucked. Good luck to those that chance it- but I would expect better service and food considering the island; but if you like Howard Johnson's and want to pay a premium plus!!? Knock yourself out. Don't go

Eric G.

Yelp
Just horrible! Literally a mix up of a preschool & a frat party. Rude server & expensive mediocre food at best. We asked our server to move our table because the bar was blasting jock jams at full volume. They noted we would have to go leave & enter the wait list to be reseated. Hard pass for anyone looking for an enjoyable relaxing meal at a beach local.

Usman L.

Yelp
4.5 stars relative to other beachside concessions/snackbars/restaurants. You come here for Jetties Beach not the restaurant, but you will be pleasantly surprised to find the restaurant serves up some options that shine. The clam chowder is phenomenal. All of us from the kids up agreed on that. The grilled cheese with tomato also hit it out of the park. Three cheeses and thinly pressed panini style. Delicious! The only item that fell flat were the wings. Not particularly tasty and almost no sauce coating. Extremely bland. I will double up on the chowder next time. Also reasonably priced for the island. About $36 all in.

Zack Q.

Yelp
There's a ton of potential with this unbeatable location, but the Sandbar seems interested in mostly catering to its pretty roudy beer-drinking crowd. Fair play to them; it's probably easier and more profitable to play some loud music and get people banging on bongos. But don't expect to have a deep family conversations if you're seated anywhere near the bar. And this was on a Wednesday night around 7pm... a little early to mount your bar stool and scream that you're having shots? Food was good, but took a long time, and our salads were just plopped out after 40 minutes with our main courses... So, take deep breaths and wait for the beautiful sunset, if you can!

Michael C.

Yelp
We ordered the fish and chips. The fish came out hot, crisp and not too greasy. It was good for the price. The fries were cold. I told our second server, I guess she took over our table after our original guy went off duty. She almost immediately brought back a larger serving, they must have been from the same batch because they were just as cold. When she came back to pick up our plates I told her the second batch was also cold. She seemed surprised but then rather quickly brought out a third batch. These were hot but rather late in the meal. There were two guys butchering music in the corner, the drums overpowering loud. Obviously The Sandbar becomes a bar scene in later afternoons/evenings. Maybe lots of alcohol would have made me numb to the music and less picky about French fries. From a straight fish and chips standpoint it was a 2, 4 for the fish and 0.5 for the fries.

Chad P.

Yelp
We had the best waiter ever! The fish tacos were great, I mean amazing! The chef is from Mexico and he brought some homemade recipes of slaw, and a secret cream sauce. The fish is battered in the local Cisco beer, another nice touch. Go forth and eat fish tacos! You will not be disappointed.

Tim C.

Yelp
We stopped in twice this year once in early July and again today. Both times service was horrible and the food overpriced very low quality. Today put in order and waited 40 minutes before we were informed that there was no draft beer. Avoid if you can New management hiked prices but did not improve. From (2008-2016) much better.

Ginger A.

Yelp
The drinks may as well be mixed by a freshman in college trying his hardest to impress the girls in his dorm hall. If you want rock bottom service, amateur bar tending, and a way to waste your time on this island, make your way to Sandbar. Guaranteed disappointment with NO money back guaranteed.

Donna L.

Yelp
Go for 3-5 buck a shuck - sit on the deck and if you're lucky enough to have Jenna serving, your cocktails will come fast and fresh like the delicious seafood - great chowdah and pizza too - music starts live at around 6 and it's a truly beautiful Nantucket experience -

Caitlin K.

Yelp
We were in Nantucket for a bachelorette party and going to the Sandbar at Jetties was the highlight of our weekend! The location can't be beat. We went to the beach in the morning, went to Sandbar for lunch (even kept our chairs and towels at the beach b/c we could see them from our table), and went back to the beach in the afternoon. I highly recommend getting the burger and ice cream sandwich for dessert--so amazing! After the beach a few of us headed back to the bar for some cold beers and listen to the live music. It really was the perfect day, exactly what you want to be doing on vacation. This is a must-do in Nantucket!!

Heidi D.

Yelp
My family tried out the Sandbar on our vacation to Nantucket. We LOVED it! -Great food!!! We had the fish tacos, lobster roll, Kale salad, and street corn. Our 1 year old loved the grilled cheese! -Awesome drinks! I could stayed all night drank a few more frozen blue lemonade's. -The service was fast (important with a kid). The server's were pleasant and great with our 1 year old! -You cannot beat the location! Especially, with a mobile child. He was able to run around on the beach after dinner. -The atmosphere was causal and relaxed which is exactly what we were looking for on vacation! We will be back next year!

Zachary C.

Yelp
I brought my wife and 3 young children here over the weekend and we had an amazing time. I love what the new owners have done with the place. I always liked the old jetties purely because of the location. Now I love everything about it!! The food was absolutely amazing and there was something on the menu for my entire family (even my picky 8,6, and 2.5 year olds ran away with happy and full bellies?). I was happy to see that the restaurant was extremely busy. What made it even better is that even though they were extremely busy they still had amazing service. Everyone from the bartenders, the hostess, to the waiters (and even the owner said hello?) were very friendly and attentive. I'm really looking forward to bringing my entire family back here often whenever we're back on island. Keep up the great work!
