It's very overwhelming and such a good museum. At the entrance we were welcomed by very lovely people and someone who was playing very nice songs on his guitar (real good musician if you ask me). It's not a big place but with all the info they give/show you you can be inside for a pretty long time (worth every second of it)

Go there when you are in Rhodes: it's a gem of a museum with lots of explanations and pictures about the city of Rhodes - which hasn't changed by the way - and the history of Jewish people here. Makes you think a lot about how quickly times can change and that one should always be prepared for the unthinkable: watch the excellent movie which is shown in the museum. Museum is next to the beautiful synagogue and has a cute little courtyard. 4 euro entrance fee in september 2022. I think, it's closed from november on but if you phone them you can make an appointment. The book which brought me here was Patricia Wilson's 'Island of Secrets'.

One of the very unusual places in Rohde. The origin of Jew in this island might be traced back to destruction of 1st temple(ca. 3.BC). After Reconqusita of Spain in 15 AD, some of the Jewish fugitive had migrated here and built a Jewish community consisted of Sephedic majority. The grand master of Rohde persecuted Jew at the last stage(20 years )of their rein . The turk put Jew under protection until WWI.

history of a Jewish community Tells the story of the Jewish community on Rhodes over centuries. Isac Habib is a great guide who has so much information and knowledge to share. His mother was a holocaust survival and her testimony is touching and heartbreaking. Well worth it to book a tour and get the history told as you visit the museum as well as the synagogue. It's not a big museum, but it tells a little known but very important history.

Very interesting even for non Jewish People. A time line of the area of how far it goes back here! Good price to visit!

We sent an email, which was responded to promptly, requesting a visit since it was winter and the site was open by appointment only. The synagogue is beautiful, and the adjacent museum is excellently presented—though the experience is understandably sobering. The history of this Jewish settlement and the suffering they endured during the last months of World War II (with most perishing in the Nazi’s “final solution”) is a vital and poignant part of history. We were grateful to see it represented with such care and respect. Cost was €6 per person
