We sent an email, which was responded to promptly, requesting a visit since it was winter and the site was open by appointment only. The synagogue is beautiful, and the adjacent museum is excellently presented—though the experience is understandably sobering.
The history of this Jewish settlement and the suffering they endured during the last months of World War II (with most perishing in the Nazi’s “final solution”) is a vital and poignant part of history. We were grateful to see it represented with such care and respect.
