Start by taking a queue number at the reception. Then line up to select your order from the machines. Make payment there. Wait till your number is called by the reception prior to handing your meal tickets to them. This will be followed by getting timers from them and collecting your food. Followed the number indicated to head to the steamer area. Staff will hand you protective gear to insert the food into the steamer. When the timer rings, head back to collect the food. Extra costs for different types of sauces. Yuzu pepper sauce tasted good. Free seating. Credit card allowed. Free parking

Interesting experience, DIY to cook your own meals with geothermal steam from beppu hotsprings. Fresh and healthy steamed meal, clam in butter cooked in geothermal steam was noteworthy, together with steam the butter became a light butter sauce to go with other steamed items. Other item raved was the seasoned rice wrapped in leaf. The flat udon noodles with miso was good too, it completes a hearty meal with the family. For those who need a stronger flavor kick, sprinkle a light amount of salt brings out the flavors more. Parking just behind the restaurant.

That sounds like such a unique and fun dining experience! A restaurant where you can steam your own food using hot spring water is definitely something special. It combines the joy of cooking with the excitement of trying something new. The process of ordering from ahř⁶ vending machine, collecting your food, and then steaming it yourself adds a personal touch to the meal

Enjoyed this place where you can steam your own food with the geothermal steam from the hot spring. Just purchase the meal coupons (I ordered set 2 and 17) and a ¥40 steaming fee coupon from the vending machine and get a number from the reception. When your number is called, pass your meal coupons to the counter and they will prepare the ingredients for you. It’s free-seating so after securing your seat, you bring your tray of ingredients to the steaming area according to the number on the timer provided. There, the staff will guide you through the process of wearing thick gloves and steaming your food for about 15 mins. They provide salt and ponzu as complimentary condiments but if you prefer other condiments like sesame sauce, you’ll need to add additional ¥200 per sauce.

An interesting experience. The food wasn’t exceptional but good enough. Has its own dedicated car park too.

Food is a bit pricey but worth the experience. Be sure to visit there about 10-11am. Otherwise gonna be very crowded. Good steamed food. Great quality.

Just get the vegetables will do. Didn’t hold a high expectation so was pleasantly surprised. What I couldn’t figured out was how to cook all the different t ingredients with one timing and I was right. Meat was quite over cooked. Beef reminds me of the beefy jerky in Taiwan. Pork was better. On the other hand, vegetable was tasty. Generous portion to fill up 1 stomach with rice. We didn’t try seafood so not sure if it is worthwhile. Considering this is a popular tourist site, staff were in general friendly to non-Japanese speaking foreigners.

This was one of the main itineraries which we wanted to fulfil when in beppu. To eat at this restaurant where where we steam our food in the high pressure of the natural steam emitting from the earth in Beppu. We were there for lunch. Waiting time was 30 mins at 3pm. Firstly, you queue to order, then pay and get a q number. Lastly, you wait! We ordered the prawn/veg set, noodles and a butter clam. Taste was underwhelming, and I think the place is overrated. The food was really very plain n tasteless. Steaming food will taste plain and require condiments which the restaurant should provide. Dips, sauces, etc will make the food nice but sadly, it was not provided. The noodles had a small cup of sauce which did make it less boring. The rest of the food was just a big let down. Even the butter clam didn't provide any assistance. Service was not too bad, but everything was self service anyway, so there were practically nothing to prove for by the staff. Price was definitely on the higher side. Eveyone was practically a tourist. They were either foreigners or local tourist from other states like Tyk, Osaka, Hokkaido. Parking was great, they actually have a sheltered place for guests, but limited. Atmosphere was no big deal, with just loads of people waiting. Decor of the place is rather mediocre. On the whole, it will be only good for the experience, but for the food, not so. Eating steamed food is somethg we all done before? Not sure we must get this experience.
