Went for food in their pub/restaurant. They had gluten free fish and chips that were excellent (everything was actually gluten free in the meal and they even have a separate fryer for it). Staff were very attentive and on it and very friendly. Would recommend!

Google
Jim Edwards is one of the best dining locations in this gourmet town of Kinsale, Ireland. Ask the locals for the best spot for fish and chips and this restaurant is one of the first mentioned. I had seafood chowder, rib eye steak & stickey toffee pudding- scrumptious! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable of the town. Oh yes, I also tasted their medley of Irish whiskey- 😇

Google
We stayed here for a night and had dinner in the restaurant. Our dinner was delicious. The room was slightly on the small side, but clean, convenient and fine for one or 2 nights. The bathroom on the other hand was huge and very nice.

John Pozer

Google
The chowder was fantastic, as was the beet salad. Good service for our lunch visit. The place was busy. Prices were reasonable. Friendly folks and smiling faces! Recommended by a local and did not disappoint.

Veronika Menhofer

Google
During our visit, we noticed that the cutlery and glasses were not properly cleaned, which affected the dining experience. The overall ambiance could use more attention to cleanliness and maintenance. These aspects made it difficult to fully enjoy our stay.

Google
Had lunch at Tim Edwards in Kinsale while on a cruise excursion. The service was excellent and the fish and chips were on point. Our visit provided the type of experience we were hoping enjoy while there.

Google
Great Food. Most restaurants were closing and we ended up here. They held the kitchen for us to order and the food amazing! Thank you so much. Highly recommend steak sandwich and mussels.

Google
I had to give this place a review... BEST food I have eaten in a long while, the standard is excellent, i have been working and staying locally here in Kinsale, I have eaten here twice this week, cooked to perfection and great produce, and each time the food came out piping hot.. very good value for money also. Highly Highly recommend. Five stars

Yelp
Our first time here and in Kinsdale. There was a Rugby tournament this weekend so a lot of places were not serving good. Fortunately for us Jim Edwards was open and it did not disappoint. I haven't had a lot of oysters in my life but these were by far the best and the biggest. My wife had the chicken and it was amazing as well. Nice, chill, coastal vibe inside. And they do Whiskey flights!

Yelp
Looking around town for a place to eat, and found this. It's a nice, quiet place, pretty roomy as well. Our server was nice, and it didn't take long to get our food. I got a burger, which I was craving, and really liked it. My family liked their food as well, and we want to stop again next time we come to Ireland.

Aushianna N.

Yelp
Service was great and the drinks were delicious. Welcoming staff and a cozy environment.

Erica M.

Yelp
Staff were friendly and welcoming. Extremely clean and overall a nice place to spend an afternoon.

Yelp
Good food served by nice people. Had fish and chips, wifey had veggie burger and junior had the burger. We were all very satisfied.

Yelp
We stumbled onto this restaurant during our trip to Ireland from the States. By FAR the best meal we've had. Steak cooked to perfection, juicy burger and a pork specialty that was absolutely delicious. Terrific wine and desserts. Service was beyond exceptional. Cannot recommend enough!!!

Maksym B.

Yelp
Us and our friends had one of the best fish and chips on earth. Service was fast and our waiter was patient and wonderful. Great place!

Don O.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our meal and overall dining experience here at this classy Irish pub. The food was very good and reasonably priced, the service was pleasant. Oysters were very tasty as was the lamb and hake fish specials.

Shawn A.

Yelp
Great little pub and restaurant in Kinsale. After a long day of driving this hit the spot for a late lunch. I opted for the Steak Sandwich with onions. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare and the onions had a great sauté to them. I didn't add anything to the sandwich and the juice from the meat and onions packed the roll with extra flavor. The roll was crunchy on the outside but super soft inside. The steak was sliced and not shoved so you ended up with big strips of meat in each bite. My son said the burger and the wings were great. My wife enjoyed the warm chicken and bacon salad.

Yelp
The food would have been better appreciated if the service wasn't so poor. My group of four was seated first in the dining room. After the dining room filled and other groups were receiving their meals we inquired about the timing of our food delivery. It appeared that the front end manager, who's dress shirt was soaked in sweat was unable to manage the front end. Good food, lousy service!

CR B.

Yelp
The food was ok, but the service was very very poor. We were a party of 4 seated in the dining room - the first people in this room. We got our drinks and our food order was taken....the dining areas filled up with people after that...our party was forgotten. No server came to refill drinks or serve our food, while everyone around us were attended to several times. After trying several times to get the attention of a server, we asked for our meals. Unfortunately one in our party did not get their meal as it wasn't prepared. The server said her meal was on the way out, but it wasn't delivered until the rest of us were done. We asked for another round of drinks to have with our dinner and they never came. We asked for our check and canceled the second round of drinks. We would not recommend this restaurant...it was a great trip to the area except for this experience.

Yelp
Nice place priced a little better than some others in the area. Comfortable and casual. Highlights were the seafood chowder, salmon, and fish n chips for us. Made the mistake of getting wine when Guinness was available. That's like ordering Guinness in Napa valley. It's just hard to beat the local specialties. But that's not a reflection of the wine at all. If you are a veggie, you will find more options elsewhere, but there are a few items. My wife is a veg-cheat-arian and really liked the salmon. But she's back on the wagon now. My son, a more stubborn actual vegetarian enjoyed the veggie curry, and scalloped potatoes (which came with the salmon). I bet if you are creative, they could work with you to combine sides into a veggie entree, but we didn't try. They didn't offer any solutions either, other than pointing out the veggie dish that was available. It was nice that they take Amex and the staff was efficient, pretty friendly, and service was pretty quick.

Yelp
Worst experience of a 10-day Ireland trip. Arrived before the dinner rush on a Friday evening at 5:00pm and before any reservations were showing up. We did not have one but the dining room was empty except for one table and we only had a party of two anyways. The only time we were spoken to by staff was to take our order and when we were paying our bill. To even obtain our bill, we had to physically approach staff, otherwise we would have been waiting forever. Food was the most bland of the ENTIRE trip and it wasn't close. Pub food along the Wild Atlantic Way drastically puts this place to shame. Fish - No flavor. How this is possible in Kinsale is beyond me. Chips - Undercooked and a nice cardboard-like flavor. Burger - Overcooked (requested Medium but was basically well done), zero flavor, zero toppings, zero seasoning. The only reason we wanted any of it was because we were starving after walking around Kinsale for 7+ hours. I can understand understaffed places because we have seen them along our trip. This was not the problem. The place was empty and the staff acts and looks like they not only hate their job but also hate their customers. I am not sure where the good reviews came from but things must have really turned sour fast here. Avoid and find a place where they care at all. Great city though.

Yelp
Excellent dinner upon our arrival in Kinsale. The oysters were meaty and delicious. The monkfish main was delightful. Great wine list and the meringue dessert topped off the evening. Would highly recommend

Yelp
BEST RESTAURANT IN IRELAND! During a our romantic walk along Kinsale bay, an old friendly local Irishman walking his adorable terrier reccommended this restaurant...thank old man! We immediately got a table, but the place was pretty packed for off season so I'd make a reservation if you're coming in the summer. Three Course Meals for 25 euro...Best Deal in Ireland! Lots of choices! Course 1: Crab Cakes...mostly crab and barely any breading. Yum! Course 2: Sirlion Steak...FYI: all beef in Ireland is Grass Fed. Yum! (extra 3e) Course 3: Apple Pie with Cream...best Apple Pie! Better than anything in Julian, CA. 2 Course Meals for 20 euro... pick an Appetizer or Dessert. Wife got this. Course 1: Seafood Chowder...yum! Course 2: Pan Fried Hake...yum! Better than my steak... The meals also came with 3 sides to share: Chips, Steamed Veggies, and probably the best scalloped potatoes I've ever had!. 5.50euro wine glass for the wife, and a tasty 3.90 Beamish stout beer, kinda like a Guiness, for me. Nice service, and probably the best meal we had in Ireland! For only 56.40euro! I still have mouthgasmic fantasies about that Apple Pie...

Yelp
Reserved table for eight, had variety of food off menu Steak , which is juicy and perfectly done, lamb shank, wonderful, lasagna which was great, scallops, and rack of lamb Oyster starter were amazing All great! Excellent service Reasonably priced

Kayla C.

Yelp
Came here for dinner with my hubby and chose to do the three-course pre-fix which was a deal for only 27euro/pp. Starters: - Fried brie salad:** my favorite dish of the entire meal, soooo delicious! - Grilled crab cakes: standard, nothing out of this world Mains: - Roasted Chicken: Although the apricot orange glaze was tasty, the chicken was overdone leaving it very dry/difficult to swallow. - Baked fillet of salmon: delicious- loved the parmesan and herb crust. Dessert: - Chocolate fudge cake with icecream: delicious, but how could you go wrong with chocolate fudge cake? - Apple Pie: YUMMY! This pie was so fresh and unlike any other pie I have had in the US- instead of the standard pie crust, this pie resembled more of a buttery shortbread crust. It was delicious. Sort of like a apple-stuffed cookie! Overall, 3.5 stars** had my chicken not been over-cooked and dry, then I would say for sure they earned the 4 stars.

Yelp
We stopped by this place and was asked if we had a reservation which we did not. They did however allow us to get seating on the bar side. The service was decent and the food was pretty good. My husband had the steak and I had the fish and chips and both were very good.

Minnie F.

Yelp
My favorite pub in Kinsale. Jim Edwards Restaurant & Bar has a great vibe, beautiful decor and a friendly staff. The pub food is really delicious. The oysters were fresh and of very high quality. Slàinte!

Bob C.

Yelp
We both had the Seafood Chowder which was pleasantly flavored with many chunks of fish. We both gave it 5*. My wife ordered the Smoked Haddock which came with two fillets on a large plate. In the middle of the plate were mashed potatoes, covered with onions in a delicious beschmel sauce. My Chicken Liver Pate was very good, not too strong like some goose liver pate is. With a glass of Shiraz the check was 51.40.

Barbara R.

Yelp
Terrific find ! The seafood chowder was creamy and chock full of fresh fish . The brown bread was soft , chewy and fresh - perfect. My mate and I shared the fish and chips entree which was plenty . One large crispy coated tender fish fillet for each of us , served with homemade tartar sauce and fresh fries . We were delighted with our cozy and tasty Kinsale dinner . Very pleasant service , too.

Richard M.

Yelp
Nice pub to call in on. Pub food is good, too. (As one walks in, it is restaurant to the left, or, bar to the right.) Just wish I had snapped a few photos of food ordered when I visited! Can't go wrong hanging out here.

Graham B.

Yelp
Best meal I've had yet in Ireland. Got the hake on a bed of cooked spinach which was incredible. Split the crab cakes with my companion as a starter and they had a lovely cod dish. Together they came with tons of vegetables (yum) and we both had two delicious pints to wash it all down. For dessert we split the banoffie pie, and I had a glass of ruby port. All in all, SO good. I'd be back in a flash. Great atmosphere and service too.

Lynn J.

Yelp
Good recommendation by our hotel staff.... We ate here in April and had an excellent dinner. I ordered the cold seafood platter, which came with all sorts of delicious shellfish. We were also served French fries and scalloped potatoes - very rich and creamy. For dessert, I finally found a restaurant that served Banoffee pie. I had read that this was an Irish specialty and was not disappointed. I am not a big dessert eater, but this was terrific! It's a little pricey, but the meal and wait staff are worth it. We really enjoyed our meal here - it seemed very traditionally Irish (both menu and decor) which is exactly what we were looking for!

Yelp
What more can you ask for? Elevated pub food ( really elevated) with great service at a terrific price in the middle of a charming town. Our meal was perfect. As a matter of fact it is the next morning and I am still full. I had the 2 course price fixe with the salmon and it was a huge piece perfectly cooked with a light lemon butter sauce. It came with lightly steam broccoli, mashed carrots, beets and scalloped potatoes. My husband's oysters were some of the best he ever had and the fish and chips were light and fresh. It had come recommended but it exceeded our expectations. My only note would be that the appetizer salad came with goat cheese ( so creamy covered in nuts) was too large. I know silly but it was so good I ate it and it was a bit much ( okay shared some of it). Could use half as much . It doesn't necessarily look fancy on the outside but it is lovely and the food is not to be missed. And we both felt the prices were very fair for the amount and quality we got. Coming from Los Angeles we were please to see all the organics and locally sourced items. And they menu is quite varied so it is perfect for a group

Yelp
I am from southern California and I have access to great seafood. After seeing the reviews for this place, I was excited to get some of the seafood dishes. First off, the service was pretty bad. Our waitress didn't come to our table until 8-10 minutes after we got in (even though there were only two other tables in the restaurant at the time). Her, as well as the rest of the waiting staff, were very flustered and frazzled. The water container had food on the outside and there was food on the floor near our table. As for the food, it was mediocre and disappointing compared to the reviews. I got the crab cakes and they were overcooked and did not taste like crab at all. The seafood chowder was mediocre. My mom got the vegetarian goat cheese dish and the salad was overdressed (the lettuce was soggy) and the goat cheese was bland. The ratio of puff pastry to goat cheese and tomatoes was way off. When I got the bill, the wrong items were on it and I had been overcharged. I had to walk to the counter to get it sorted out and it took at least 15 minutes. In addition, they were out of many of their drinks (beer and wine). Overall, this is not all it is cracked up to be and I would not suggest stopping here based on my experience.

Kamila P.

Yelp
We had to wait about half an hour to get seated but it was well worth the wait. Fantastic seafood. I had the best seafood chowder in all of Ireland at Jim Edwards.

Ada C.

Yelp
We tried to eat in the bar but it was full so we went the restaurant and had their price fixe menu (2 courses for €20 or 3 for €25). We shared the baked mussels stuffed with breadcrumbs. They were so so - mostly breadcrumbs and nothing that special. However, we were really pleasantly surprised by the mains. He had the baked salmon in a breadcrumb and Parmesan crust and I had the pan fried hake. Both were cooked perfectly - fish was nice and flakey. They can with plenty of sides too: veg, chips and scalloped potatoes. We topped off the meal with a slice of their chocolate fondant cake and ice cream. Really yummy. We got a bottle of their Chilean red for only €18 too. Overall, great value and a nice meal. Service was fine although one of the waitresses was quite stern. Smile! It can't be all that bad.

Tim W.

Yelp
Outstanding service, amazing food! The seafood was outstanding and the atmosphere was authentic. The breadcrumb stuffed mussels are a must as well.

Jared S.

Yelp
good for family. definitely on the pricey side, but delicious food to be worth the price. good beer selection, and they have mead! service was rather slow.

Sam S.

Yelp
Fabulous oysters, great pint of Guinness and crispy light fish and chips with mushy peas. What more can I say ? This is my kind of place. Atmosphere is great, it's buzzing with people and the service is good and not rushed. Would come back here anyway for a pint and some oysters :-))

Nicole A.

Yelp
1. Apple pie is out of this world.. I have no idea if it's homemade or how it's prepared but it is magically delicious. 2. Fried Brie - that is what's up. Granted you can get that sort of anywhere - my dad, brothers and I still talk about it today! 3. Everything is from a local farm slash surround area. All I can say is, if your an American tourist visiting the area I highly recommend stopping in. It is quaint and truly a phenomenal restaurant!

Gary S.

Yelp
We had a great lunch here. We had the Fish and chips along with drought beer. Also had the seafood chowder. The staff was efficient and very friendly as the service was excellent. Not stuffy but just very comfortable. Would recommend!

Krista F.

Yelp
Jim Edwards was just what we were looking for. Kinsale is a beautiful little town, but after a day of driving and hiking around, we just wanted somewhere to eat a good meal in a casual place. Initially we had a hard time. It seemed like most of the places were very upscale and we felt underdressed. Jim Edwards has a cool nautical vibe. The place is very dim, and there were couples and families inside. The food was great, and the prix fix meals were a fantastic deal. The portions were large and everything we had was just delicious. If you're hungry, definitely get one of the prix fix meals for a great value.

Mike M.

Yelp
Awesome Irish pub atmosphere, came here twice while in Kinsale for 3 days. First time sat at the small bar at the front and had a pint and a whiskey, solid pint at the right price. Next time sat down for meal, had fish and chips and the potato leek soup; both were good as you would expect but the star were the mushy peas, yum! The staff extremely friendly and welcoming, not a must see in Kinsale if you're short on time but highly, highly recommended if you need a "break" from the touristy spots

Marc R.

Yelp
Food: they hit it out of the ballpark. We got the mussels appetizer and love it. Daughter-unit had her first Lobster here and loved it. Wife-unit had her first Duck and loved it. I had the pan fried hake, and loved it as well. Service: plenty friendly, and reasonable service time given the quality Price: reasonable, considering quality. Two and Three course are especially appealing Atmophere: Slightly upscale, at least for a fishing town - but what do you expect for the best restaurant in town? More seriously: casual clothing is find though.

Adam H.

Yelp
I was just recently in Kinsale for a wedding and went To Jim Edwards on recommendations from a local and was pleasantly pleased. Food was delicious. Garlic potatoes were NICE and are apparently known around the town. We both got steak and each had separate sides and split a salad. Everything was delicious and the atmosphere was great. If you are in Kinsale it's a must visit.

Fay T.

Yelp
This is a great restaurant in the middle of Kindle town . restaurant and bar so lots of seats will be waiting quite a while for the food though because it can be very busy as it's a popular restaurant but the food is amazing with lots to choose from my whole family loves it. And you can also ring up and collect the food for takeout. But I do advise to book a table

M W.

Yelp
We came in for a late dinner and the restaurant was closed but the bar side was still open. The wait staff was very accommodating. I had the baked seafood au gratin and potato leek soup which was delicious.

Lisa C.

Yelp
We had the fish and chips which were very good. Service was fine. We also had the scallops, they too were good.

Jeff H.

Yelp
Great steak, laid back atmosphere. Had the Kinsale pale ale with it--a great combination. Even the veggies were cooked right. A number of places could learn a few things from this restaurant. Jim Edwards is down a small street and easy to overlook. So just walk down from the visitor's center, past the Methodist Church.

Meg O.

Yelp
Food was good but not outstanding. What brings this down in my rating is very poor service. We had to look for and flag down our server several times. Cocktails from the bar took 15 minutes to arrive and then they were tiny and expensive. Plus my glass was chipped and missing the garnish that was supposed to be included. Failing to get any attention from a server, I brought it back to the bar myself. It took a long time to get the food and a long time to get the check. Surely there are better options in Kinsale!

David B.

Yelp
Stopped for lunch after walking around town. Nice pub and restaurant atmosphere. Surprisingly good menu. A soup of the day that was perfect for a cool, rainy day. A couple of pints and we were happy.

Carina R.

Yelp
So, so tasty! I had the duck which was prepared perfectly. The sauce was divine. The kiddo opted for the lobster special which was also cooked perfectly. My husband ordered the 3 course dinner of mussel appetizer, hake, and apple pie for dessert and declared it delish. You won't be disappointed!

Barb B.

Yelp
We arrived in Kinsale thirsty and hungry and JimE's seriously came to our rescue! We enjoyed super quick service and a truly delicious meal of brown bread, salad, and seafood au gratin. All served up in a warm traditional dining room with other happy patrons. Clearly all were having a nice Thursday evening in Kinsale at Jim Edwards.

Laura W.

Yelp
Fantastic meal! Shout out to the bartenders on the bar side & chef. Our favorite dish was the lamb shank... yes, I know they are known for their seafood dishes, but the lamb was Devine!

Deanna C.

Yelp
Good food and a comfortable and warm place to hang out. We ordered something that came with potatoes and got a side of potatos with it, very funny. The 2 and 3 course meals are really good and a decent value. It is a little bit more typical bar food than I would have liked in Ireland, but overall it was good and I can't complain.

Amy A.

Yelp
We ate on the pub side, per our hotel recommendation - said it was the same menu but slightly cheaper. Great fish and chips! My husband had the fried chicken and it was really good too...not too heavy and lightly fried. A great, easy option in downtown Kinsale.

Brad W.

Yelp
We ate in the pub and we're very impressed. my wife had the steak and it was excellent. I had the roast chicken, and it was very good. Scalloped potatoes were excellent, as were the carrots. My favorite was the apple "pie". It's more like an apple cake and very good. I want to go back soon.
