One of the worst experiences I have ever had in any bar, anywhere in the world.
We went to Jimmy Glass Jazz Bar in Valencia hoping to enjoy some live jazz. At the entrance there was a sign “We are sold out,” but when we entered we saw free seats at the bar and thought it was fine to ask. From the very beginning, the staff acted as if they couldn’t understand what we were saying, even though I speak fluent Spanish. I simply asked for a non-alcoholic mojito (Virgin Mojito), and the waiter looked completely lost, went to ask his colleague, and still came back without understanding.
When I repeated — in clear Spanish — that we just wanted an alcohol-free mojito, instead of trying to help, another staff member came over and started lecturing us aggressively, saying we were talking too loudly. I apologized immediately, not once but several times: “I understand, I’m sorry.” Yet he kept going on and on, repeating himself as if he enjoyed humiliating us in front of everyone.
Then he said if we wanted to listen to the music, we had to pay 17 euros — which would have been completely fine if it had been explained politely. But instead, everything was done with arrogance, rudeness, and hostility. Even after my apologies, they kept staring at us with contempt until we finally had to leave.
I have never encountered such unprofessional, rude, and disgraceful behavior in a bar. The staff was ignorant, aggressive, and completely lacking in basic respect. It ruined what should have been a nice night out.
Avoid this place at all costs — there are plenty of wonderful spots in Valencia for jazz and good service. This bar is an embarrassment to the city.
