On the Grid : Jimmy's Coffee

"Thoughtful décor, tasty coffee, and always knowledgeable baristas. Spotting a new famous Jim is icing on the cake. One of five locations (and growing) means there's more than one chance to stop in for cup of coffee, tea, steamed milk, and more. If you're on the go they'll help brighten your day with a signature yellow takeaway lid. #getyouryellow" - TWG

10 Best Coffee Shops in Toronto | Condé Nast Traveler

"This local Toronto coffee shop might have six (soon to be seven) locations, but each cafe has its own vibe that strays far away from any chain-like ambiance. We’re partial to the cafe on Ossington Street, an eclectic spot with pressed-tin ceiling tiles, exposed brick, and vintage paraphernalia that’s a haven for freelancers on laptops—there are outlets everywhere." - Stefanie Waldek

The vibe is lovely! The coffee even better. Such a cozy cute spot in the city giving vibes of old rustic home. Definitely a must try. Been to the Etobicoke location a couple of years ago and loved it then as well.

Google
Love the convenience of this coffee shop. Usually serve a delicious espresso/americano. I asked for the sugar to add my own as I am particular with my $5 coffees and prefer just a pinch of sugar. Unfortunately staff was very giving with today and had already added it, now have a sweet hot milkshake to drink. Funny how when you wean yourself off sugar too much is no longer palatable.

Google
Jimmy’s Cafe is fantastic! They have 3 floors and their traditional eclectic interior is beautiful and has such a cozy vibe. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, making each visit a pleasure. And the coffee? Absolutely top-notch. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a great spot to relax, work and enjoy a cup of coffee. I am literally in love with this café best in the city!

Google
Cute and cozy coffee house with three floors inside. Great spot to catch up on some work or enjoy a cup of coffee with friends and co-workers. They have many tea and coffee options here and even a small merch section. We ordered a regular coffee and their Strawberry & Cream Tea Latte from their spring menu. I enjoyed the latter quite a bit and was impressed by how long my tea latte stayed scorching hot. I will be back to try their other seasonal drinks.

A perfect spot for coffee enthusiasts! The cozy atmosphere and delightful brews make it a great place to unwind or connect with friends. It's definitely worth a visit!

Google
Super cute place! I went last week to study with a friend and it was lovely. Unfortunately upstairs was packed, so note that if you go you might not find a seat! I got a JVC vanilla latte, it was so cute. The price is a bit expensive for a coffee in my opinion, but I would definitely visit again

Google
I would give the drinks here a 7/10 and the atmosphere a 9.5/10 This is the best place in Toronto to study - outlets, lots of seating, quiet floors. I had the pumpkin spice latte and the pumpkin flavour was really good, a lot better than pumpkin flavoured syrups at other cafes. I just found the espresso to not be as strong as I personally like. My friend got the hot chocolate and she really enjoyed it. They’re open until 6 which is a big plus.

Google
Jimmy's Coffee is a small and cozy cafe that's definitely worth a visit. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the coffee is excellent - some of the best I've had. Located off Bay Street, the cafe is quiet and peaceful, making it the perfect spot to read a book or catch up with a friend over coffee. During the weekend, it was very warm and cozy, making the experience even better. If you're looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a great cup of coffee, Jimmy's Coffee is definitely worth checking out.

Yelp
Who knew Jimmy's was a shabby home till it was converted to a cute coffee shop. The cutest cafe with exposed brick, fluorescent paint and lovely pics adorning their walls. Wonderful place with absolutely delicious coffee. There's multiple levels of seating so don't get fooled by the small space as soon as you get in. I discovered the hole in the wall while exploring downtown by foot and I immediately fell in love with the cozy corner, delicious coffee and amazing ginger molasses cookie. Tried for the first time, this cookie was a keeper. Jimmy is right beside Tim Hortons so we definitely missed it on our 1st day. Totally worth hanging out and enjoying some delicious goodies with good old coffee.

Yelp
It's a nice and cute place to spend your afternoon there. The place was small and quiet but not too crowded, with large tables which are suitable for remote working or preparing for school exams. Their coffee smells good and you could customize it with oak milk or almond milk, depending on your preference. It also has a tiny backyard where you could grab a seat and relax. Try it and let me know if you like it!

Yelp
The ambiance is really chill. I got two cold brews and both taste fantastic. Wife really enjoyed hers made exactly to order. Staff was wonderful, polite and easy to interact with.

Yelp
I love wacky places and this "Jimmy's theme" coffee shop is fun, cool and has really good lattes! I like that it is in an old funky building, with artwork of a famous Jimmy on the side! Although one day they'll probably tear down this little building and make 20 stories of condos. Check out the zinc ceiling, very cool and there are various seating places. It closes early, but for an 8-6 coffee pick up it's nice to support a independent place. It's convenient to all of the hospitals, and office buildings on University and Bay Streets. They have a couple of other locations that are similar.

Yelp
Desserts, smoothies, juices. The choice is not big, but tasty. Very tasty coffee (large selection of syrups). Large area, 3 floors, very quiet and comfortable. Friendly staff.

Yelp
Been going here for a long time (surprised I've not reviewed it). Staff is generally great. Décor like most Jimmy's locations is earthy and warm. Downstairs is great for a short stay or chatting with friends. Upstairs is more work oriented. One of the better Jimmy's locations that I've been to (they have massively expanded recently) and one is the better cafe locations in general in Toronto.
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
1. Coffee and lattes are top notch, limited syrup selection but you can't go wrong with a classic caramel or vanilla. Great alternative milk selection. 2. Bakery items are good, I wish they had a toaster oven or microwave available as they are served straight from the case. Out of the 4 items we tried, the lemon raspberry scone was the best. 3. Staff at jimmy's are kind and welcoming!

Yelp
I went to Jimmy's coffee twice I liked it so much! The vibe is very laid back. There were multiples levels of the building for seating. It was a Sunday morning so a little busy especially because only one person was working. I got a purple haze iced tea (so fun!) and a vegan peanut butter banana muffin - DELICIOUS. My dad enjoyed his coffee and croissant as well.

Maryum R.

Yelp
Good coffee but not much else. The amount of DUST in this building has to be a health code violation. Just because you're going for a vintage vibe does not mean you have to keep things so dirty and dingy. The upstairs seating makes no sense. There's like 5 seats downstairs and a whole room above designated for a "quiet area" where customers can self-consciously eat their croissants in utter silence in a stuffy, dimly lit room. You're lucky if the one seat next to an outlet is available. The planks on the wooden bench shift if anyone else sitting on the bench even moves a muscle. I almost get the feeling they don't want people to stay for too long considering how UNCOMFORTABLE the environment is. My advice: Just get your coffee and go!

Some 1.

Yelp
First and foremost, I absolutely love Jimmy's coffee and have been a regular purchaser of their beans for the last 3 yrs at the McCaul location. That one is consistently the best grind and service - five stars. Now this location, at Gerrard, I avoid. Sometimes I make the lazy mistake to purchase beans here because it's on my way...but each time I am reminded why I avoid it. Time and time again they can't grind the beans as requested which is in the purchase of their beans. For somewhat pricy coffee, as this is, it should be done correctly. Perhaps it's because I don't tip them for the shitty grind and expensive coffee? Yeah, never again at this location! You don't deserve my business.
google avatar

Yelp
Chill little coffee spot. The drink options are decent. Seems like they have recurring customers and some open areas to work from. Heads up that the bakery food item selection was limited and they didn't have the option to heat them if that's something that's important to you.

Yelp
While staying in Toronto, I came in here three times. Their Oatmilk Latte is delicious, very smooth and tastes like real milk latte. I really enjoyed every sip of it. Also, I've tried a couple of different bars, and my favorite was the one with coconut and condensed milk. Also I am very impressed with the service and the speed of making coffee drinks: very fast and super friendly. The atmosphere is very welcoming and chill. Guys did great job with using metal spoons for adding sugar or milk to minimize the consumption of plastic and carton. There's a cosy patio in the back and several tables for 2-3 people, also there're many benches installed. Amazing place and tasty coffee
google avatar

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop! The baristas are friendly and funny. They recommended us their popular vegan cookie. I love that they have so many options for non-dairy & vegan drinks and snacks.
google avatar

Mandy S.

Yelp
I love the coffee here especially the iced latte, I cannot taste any acidity of the coffee and the milk perfectly blends with the coffee without standing out too much.
google avatar

Christina Y.

Yelp
My first time here and ordered a medium hot chocolate. It's not too sweet but tastes more milky with a hint of chocolate. Definitely different from say Starbucks' hot chocolate which hits you with stronger chocolate taste, which I prefer more. In terms of service, it was average. They made my order quite quickly and I did not experience any "racism" that a few users have addressed below. The baristas seemed like your every day regular people. It has a homey feel to it with the decor like the bookcase and big wooden tables on the second floor. It is hard to find a seat although they have around 18 seats upstairs since it seems like people come here in twos or fours to catch up or group study. It can get a little loud since the crowd is mixed between those who want quiet and those who want to chat. Would come here again and try their teas next time.
google avatar

Yelp
I was craving a matcha latte and I decided to come here after class. I got a chive and cheese(?) scone and it was pretty good while the matcha latte was a tab bit diluted even though I saw her make it. I think either there was not enough powder added to it or it was not thoroughly mixed but it did taste a bit better after adding syrup to it. This location had multiple floors but were all full with people at around lunchtime.

Yelp
Jimmy's Coffee is conveniently located minutes away from the Ryerson Student Learning Centre (SLC), Yonge & Dundas Square, and the Greyhound Bus Terminal. I stopped by here briefly while waiting for my friends and enjoyed some coffee and baked goods. Here's a very brief rundown: Food: I got a black coffee and raspberry scone. I'm typically not a fan of baked goods but this raspberry scone tasted superb. It wasn't too sweet, crumbly, or overpowering with the tartness of he raspberry. Overall, this went well with the black coffee that I had. There's a Tim Hortons right by this Jimmy's Coffee and with confidence, I can say that this coffee was miles better than any Tim Hortons coffee that I've ever had. Atmosphere: This place is great for studying or catching up with friends. The first floor is meant for casual conversations while the upper two floors are more for quiet study spaces/ chill vibes. Service: Unfortunately, I came in the morning when this place was PACKED! The lineup wrapped outside the place and it was an inconvenience as customers waiting in line around the door/ stairs area would be in the way of people who were heading out (it's kind of cramped around that area). Because of the nature of the line, there was a barista who was asking customers who were in line what they'd want to order. For regulars, this is good, but newcomers like me didn't know what to order by the time the barista came to me (I couldn't see the menu from where I was). Regardless, the service was friendly and for the rush that they were experiencing, the employees dealt with it in a productive manner. Price: Pretty standard for pricing. The coffee isn't too overpriced and slightly more expensive than your regular Timmies. The scone was decently priced as well. The whole order came to just under $5, which was decent for a light breakfast. Verdict: Overall, excellent place to study and the coffee and scones are great conversation food. This place is a great alternative to your Tim Hortons which is just around the block. However, if you want to avoid the morning rush, I would come much later or very early. The only downside of this place is that it does get busy with a lot of customers and you might experience a long lineup.

Yelp
The incomparable Jimmy's on Gerrard just West of Bay siting in its own standalone house, with murals of other famous Jimmys, serves one of the best coffees in town by efficient staff in a comfortable space. A must stop recharge place!

Yelp
a true gem hidden in a rather boring part of the city. this wonderful feel of a small independent cafe with a character not a soul-less corporate clone of yet another Starbucks. the lady who works there is friendly, cheerful and great at her job. great coffee and even a small hidden patio with a couple of tables. I will be back for sure.

Yelp
After 4 years of living Toronto, I finally ventured to Jimmy's Coffee. I now understand why Torontonians love this chain so much! I ordered a vanilla latte with almond milk and a chocolate espresso scone for the morning. The latte was splendid - it was not too sweet, and verrrry frothy. I was also pleasantly surprised at how flavourful the scone was! Although I could not detect any hints of coffee, I would definitely get again. I had a great first experience and I see myself returning for more work/study sessions!

Yelp
It's a small coffee shop with a nice amount of space, including upstairs, for your seating and working pleasure. The hits: + The espresso is rich and tasty + A special signature drink on the menu is an orange zest latte. Don't see that often, but coffee and orange is a tasty mix. Unique. + They have a small patio out back if you like to soak up some rays while soaking up your beverage. + Bonus points for the amazing mural on the side, featuring a mount rushmore of jimmys. My fave: Jimmy Hendrix.

Yelp
Jimmy's is one of my favourite spots downtown to grab a coffee while catching up with friends, reading a book, studying, or all of the above! Having been to their other locations, I can conclusively say that this Jimmy's is my favourite. With three different floors and a patio in the summer, there's plenty of room to make yourself at home. The main floor is lively while the upstairs floors are a bit quieter; both are equally cozy so you can't go wrong either either! Their coffees and lattes are Delicious (with a capital D)! Their pastries are also quite good. Service is quick and friendly. Water is self-serve, which is a huge bonus, especially when you're parched and there's a huge line up. As much as I love Jimmy's, so does everybody else! If you're picky with tables, I would suggest to come early because tables fill up fast. Otherwise, people are constantly coming and going so the wait for a free spot is never too long if you're not too picky!

Yelp
I regularly have coffee at this location of Jimmy's and frequently order for a lactose free caramel mocha. Today i paid for a lactose free caremal mocha but there was no communication between the person who billed me and the person who made the coffee and she started preparing my coffee with regular milk. I had to correct her and tell about me being lactose intolerant and that i ordered and paid for lactose free coffee. The person who billed for the coffee had no courtesy to apologize in spite of me telling them that i am allergic and that im lactose intolerant.

Yelp
My first time there and loved it!!! Great service and experience. A quaint coffee place filled with history and a good feeling! My friend orderEd the cappuccino and I ordered the chai tea latte.... both so great!!! I would definitely make this my regular coffee place!

Yelp
Jimmy makes nice coffee. It tastes stronger and bolder than Starbucks. The decor and ambience is hipstery. There are paintings and prints of famous Jimmys - Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Carter, etc everywhere. I've only ordered to-go and haven't been pass the first floor, but it seems spacious with their upper floors. The prices are reasonable. Excellent service, the baristas are very friendly. This is a superb coffee spot. And yes, there is free wi-fi.

Yelp
One of the best coffee shops in Toronto! Love this shop and working at the hospital for SickKids, it's a quick run across the street for a coffee. I always get the cold brew coffee. (The larger size is worth the extra dollar) if you're going for a early morning pick me up drinking it without anything extra is the way to go. If you have a bit of a sweet tooth like me, you might like to add a splash (or 4) of simple syrup. The bariatas know what they're doing so when I occasionally order a flat white (not on the menu) they know exactly what to do. As a self proclaimed flat white expert it was spot on. The drink was creamy and melted like butter in my mouth, had a strong flavour and zipped the sides of my tongue. The only downside of the drink was that it was a bit grainy as I got to the bottom of the cup. The seating is great, there's space for about 10 on the first floor, 15 on the second floor and there's a meeting room on the top floor. Needless to say there's always a place to sit. The WiFi is free and super fast, 50 Mbps, (WiFi password is welovecoffee) and there's a pokestop at the shop. A near perfect coffee shop and a must visit if you're ever in the area.

Yelp
This is the second time I have had a bad experience at this location. I love jimmy's coffee and have had them in other locations but the service here has me swearing off jimmy's coffee. I had ordered a JVO and waited about 10 minutes for my coffee. I had asked the barista once and he said that it was being made. Meanwhile he skips my cups (usually the cashier places them in the order in which they are paid). By the time he skips 3 more cups over mine, I was ready to go and ask for a refund with my receipt on hand. He then starts making my coffee and I ask if that was my coffee and he asked if I had paid for my coffee. The audacity to ask that when I had asked for my coffee twice by now and was waiting by the side where customers wait when they have paid. Apparently, racism is a problem at this location. I see that yelper Lynette O had a similar experience. I am Asian by the way.

Yelp
Amazing chill spot with 3 levels of seats to choose from. Perfect place to work from coffee shop, catch up with a friend or just chill on a weekend for a break. The spot also works for a business meeting, be it a little out of the downtown core but they have many locations. The vibe is super chill and cool. Delicious cuppa coffee and latte as well!
google avatar

Irene C.

Yelp
Perfect study/work spot! There's 2 floors of seating with plenty of outlets near all the tables and free wifi. There are big common tables as well as as smaller individual ones. I had their iced tea which is a refreshing peach black tea and their gluten free morning glory "cookie". The texture of the cookie was a bit strange but it was still tasty and filling. Will definitely be back in the future.

Yelp
Finally a decent place to drink coffee in this area. I wasn't aware if this chain of cafes so when a fellow Yelper recently gave a rave review I was intrigued. I ordered a cappuccino so here is the verdict Espresso: Medium to strong Crema': Decent Milk: Frothed well Latte Art: None Also one is given the number of shots one wants in the drink so that's plus if you want a lot of caffeine. I would say 3.5 stars. I also tried the maple scone which was kind of simple and forgettable (though I am not a big fan of those). 3,5 Stars.

Yelp
Stopped here to get my daily dose of caffeine and the their coffee did its job in waking me up.. cool setup, strong coffee, flaky and buttery croissant, all I need to start my day when vacationing in Toronto!

Yelp
This shop has become a part of my morning routine. Friendly baristas, great coffee, really chill atmosphere. I mainly order their drip coffee on a regular basis although I have tried some of their other offerings like their cold brew and their milk-based drinks. The building itself is also really interesting and helps enhance the experience here. The main floor has a few seats but is mainly where the service counter and washrooms are located. The 2nd floor has more seating and is a great place whether you're looking to catch up with a friend or grind through some emails, although it is a little quiet so a loud conversation is probably a bit out of place. Behind Jimmy's there's also a great courtyard with some benches and tables and tons of seating; a great spot overall for coffee breaks with colleagues. The location is great, the people are great and the coffees even better. They've also got some sweet merchandise you can buy! Love Jimmy's!

Yelp
Best coffee in thr city hands down Delightful staff, 2 floors.. quiet ambience... ...always a pleasure to get my morning medication

Yelp
I'm not going to pretend to be a coffee connoisseur, but I am a caffeine-addict as well as a coffee shop lover. Cute cafés are my jam! Jimmy's Coffee was a very average experience, however. Jimmy's uses the unsweetened almond milk from Silk, which is horrible because the unsweetened version tastes incredibly salty, and this definitely transferred to the taste of my almond milk latte. They use a rather acidic strain of coffee beans (re: sour), and the double shot macchiato was hard to swallow. Also, no latte art. Whaaaaat? The barista used some hand motions that made it LOOK like she was doing latte art, but in reality it looked like a white, unidentifiable blob in the middle of my tiny cup of coffee. There are three floors, yet there is zero place to sit down. The third floor has a conference-room style table, the second floor with a hodgepodge assortment of furniture, and the first floor has a severe lack of chairs. Good luck trying to enjoy your coffee inside! Jimmy's Coffee is an alright café, and I may drop by to try their other items. However I won't make a special trip for Jimmy's because there are better shops in my neighborhood, thanks.

Yelp
Their lattes are great. Very peaceful and quiet place. Internet also works great unlike the other coffee shops in the area.

Yelp
I was walking by when I seen the great Wall art. Had to go in. I ordered my wife a capachino I love expresso but never order them because most places can't make them . I am picky would rather not have one then have a bad one. But I decided to try it out. Good thing because it was very good. Both of us enjoyed it. This place is small and busy but staff is fast and friendly. I will return.

Yelp
Great spot for getting some work done! If you can find a seat, that is... With free WiFi and an abundance of outlets, it's no wonder that this place is usually packed. Get here early to find a spot. (Pro-tip: the third floor is usually *not* booked for private meetings, so don't feel intimated grabbing a seat at the big communal table.) The atmosphere here is generally very pleasant and I like the eclectic decor. I also like the fact that there's a self-serve water station, so I can stay hydrated without bothering anyone. Better yet, it's located on the first floor, so I even get to squeeze in some exercise as I walk up and down the stairs. Our most recent visit was on new year's day, so the place was pretty quiet and the service friendlier than usual. I ordered an americano misto and a lemon cranberry scone (I don't normally go for icing but this was the only option available that day). The beverage was nice and hot, the scone was surprisingly moist (they're not baked in-house), and both were yummy! No complaints.

Julia K.

Yelp
Excellent little coffee shop with delicious espresso! They have 3-4 different blends of coffee and espresso so it really allows them to make a wide range of drinks with out a hundred different ingredients. I got a caramel latte (they were out of maple) but it was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend got the JVO iced (caramel and vanilla) and I think I could drink one of those every single day without getting tired of it. If you're in the area looking for good coffee this is a must stop

Bronwen C.

Yelp
I am recently new to town and stopped into this coffee shop. I had an amazing experience here and plan on making it my local coffee place! My barista was a lovely girl I think her name was Clare or Carla. She made an absolutely delicious latte for me. I will by everyday if she's working. 10/10! Great experience!
google avatar

Joyce L.

Yelp
This is my favourite Jimmy's Coffee (although I've only been to one). I was offered a free coffee during my first visit to Jimmy's. The gesture had made me felt so lucky that I managed to ACE the interview and landed a job nearby! Since then, our relationship had blossomed beautifully. Jimmy's is like the boyfriend you always wish you would have. He holds space for you when you need to chat with your friend! He offers special coffee (starting at $1.75) on a cold winter day! He is your coffice when you need to work! He carries delectable healthy and unhealthy treats (starting at $0.75) when you are down! He warms your heart with delicious breakfast (starting at $3.75) when you forget to eat! He even surprises you on his own birthday on Dec. 10th with free drinks and cakes! What more can a girl ask for? Just date him already!
google avatar

Laura B.

Yelp
I work nearby and wanted to get a Friday morning treat so I tried Jimmy's coffee. IIt's a small shop that looks cute from the outside. It has a decent amount of seating inside and some outside. There was a line of about 5 people since it was 9am, but someone took my order while I was in line, so that made it go by faster! The girl who took my order was super sweet and friendly. I got: Large Dirty Iced Chocolate Chai (Chocolate Chai Latte with a shot of espresso) It was delicious! A little too sweet for an everyday thing, but next time I would get two shots of espresso for the large size to cut back on the sweetness. The bakery items look really good. I will be back here to meet friends for coffee or have a coffee break with colleagues.

Yelp
Near hospital row there weren't really any independent coffee joints, so I was super stoked when Jimmy's opened. There's usually a line in the morning, but the staff are very efficient and the line moves pretty quickly. I've only ever had their brewed coffee and it's always solid - rich and bold without being too bitter - perfect with a bit of milk. As for their baked goods I love their ginger molasses cookie - it's HUGE, chewy, and the small slice of candied ginger on top is a nice touch.

Claire B.

Yelp
This coffee is so flippin good, def my fave coffee spot in TO! Also the atmosphere is so cozy and cute in here and in all the Jimmy's coffee locations in the city for that matter! Love to study here, however sometimes it is hard to get a spot because it's usually busy! I recommend checking it out!

Yelp
I like this quaint little location. I picked up a simple hot chocolate along my leisurely walk. Very consistent with the Portland location, not too sweet, and a lovely heart made with the milk. Service with a smile. I couldn't ask for more.

Yelp
Cozy coffee place that has a good variety of breakfast options - for early birds like me the coffee shop was busy but the 2nd and their 3rd floors offered a more quiet space for reading and catching up with work or friends I ordered an almond milk cappuccino but to my surprise it was their vegan blueberry chia seed yogurt that was the star of the visit Definitely would come back again

Yelp
*Their coffee menu is simple and straightforward, and they don't have those fancy crazy flavored syrups. I also appreciate that they carry lactose free or almond milk for those lactose intolerant people like me :). *There are 3 floors for this location with the first and second floor available to the public. The third floor seems to be for a big party and require reservation in advance, so it was closed to the public. *Though the Bay location is opened near the main street, it's actually a bit hidden and very quite. I also like that they aren't blasting loud obnoxious mainstream music like some other coffee shops either. *I ordered JVO (Jimmy's Very Own) and an almond croissant. I ordered the JVO for $4 and the hazelnut croissant for $2-3? The JVO - Jimmy's very own was an iced vanilla latte with caramel drizzle. The iced latte was not too strong, smooth and the barista applied the right amount of caramel drizzle so the syrup wasn't overpowering the drink. On the other hand the pastry wasn't my favorite. It was not too sweet and had a strong almond taste so it goes well with a cup of coffee. However the croissant was stale and the outer layer was too flaky. There is nothing I hate more than biting into a croissant and having it disintegrate into a million flaky crumbs :(. Also, does anyone hate it when someone cover the entire croissant with powdered sugar? It was extremely messy to eat with million of flaky crumbs and powdered sugar stick onto your hands...

Yelp
Best coffee in the city! Excellent staff, laid back vibe and damn good coffee. Try the bacon and cheddar scones here: they make mornings tolerable! All three locations are great with their own perks: the outdoor patio at Portland is fab on a sunny day, the upstairs seating in Gerrard is perfect for curling up with a book or getting a bit of work done and the Baldwin location (despite the slightly too-cool-for-school attitude of some of the staff) is a nice place to laze away a Sunday afternoon.

Yelp
Coffee is great! The season menu is my favourite. This year is JVO (imagine iced chocolate and caramel double shot latte) and last year was Gold sth sth (turmeric ginger and chai tea latte) The stuff are cool and hip but professional and friendly! They know how to do business like a friend. It has 3 floor, vintage furnitures and fixtures allow ppl to really set in for study and work. 3rd floor is a conference room setting but open for everybody

Yelp
At last, the downtown core/hospital row has a good quality independent coffee shop:) I have quickly become a regular here as it's a nice alternative to Starbucks and Second Cup. The espresso drinks and chai lattes are really well done, and the service is always friendly and laid-back. I especially love the ample seating room. The communal tables on the 2nd floor are great places to read or get some work done. Reliable wifi and an area to help yourself to water are added bonuses. The decor is warm and cozy and they usually play pretty good music. Can't really ask for more than that!

Yelp
I've walked by this Jimmy's often but never decided to go in until today. Even though it was a bit busy it was nice and cool inside. The staff were efficient and friendly. I grabbed a double shot 12 oz latte ($4) and I can honestly say this is one of the best lattes I've had in a while. It's not scalding hot, the milk is silky and you get a great taste of the espresso in the drink. Catch me there tomorrow afternoon for another fix!
