I live in Rochester for the past 10 years. I have eaten in many restaurants in town. Today I have found a hidden gem. Strong hot coffee Food that made me bit my finger. What a breakfast experience. While visiting Rochester, my girlfriend and I had breakfast at Jim's On Main. Something about the name made me want to eat here. The owner was our server, and she was so pleasant to talk with and provided exceptional service. She suggested I order from the Signature Items, so I had the Calista Frittata. It has ham, bacon, sausage, and I picked feta cheese mixed with home fries and two eggs. I had a side of meat hot sauce that added some spice to my meal. It was outstanding. If you are in Rochester, I highly recommend Jim's On Main.

This is a great diner in the city. Staff were great, service was quick, and the atmosphere was perfect for a typical diner. I ordered the eggs Benedict and it was good, however the hollandaise sauce was broken and the potatoes were extremely oily. Wouldn’t stop me from going again though. Coffee cake was great and my wife had the 2-2-2 which was also great.

The best diner in Rochester!! Gonna try their omelets next time:)

Food comes out astoundingly quick. Plus it's cash only (with an ATM) so the prices are better than most spots. Rotating homemade coffee cake and specials every day. The perfect diner experience.

We stumbled upon Jim's by accident, and boy, we're we happy. Their people are on the ball. I like my scrambled eggs a little wet. It's been 10 years since I ordered them like that and got them the way they were supposed to be. Most people don't understand what I'm asking for. They were perfect. The wait staff is also unbelievable. Great place. Definitely going back.

The last of the under $10 breakfasts - even with coffee, at least on weekdays. (The friendly and prompt service deserves a tip to $15.) Comfortable large booths, and good family diner atmosphere.

Had an enjoyable breakfast at Jim's this morning. Service was fast and polite. I thought portions were on the smaller side but prices were fair. Be prepared to pay with cash or to use the ATM on site, as no card payments are accepted.

So the last time I came here which was about 3-4 years ago, the food, not going to lie was very subpar. I left dissatisfied but didn't make a post on Yelp because I hate leaving bad reviews and the only time I do so is when the staff are rude but that wasn't the case with Jim's. Now, this time I came there with my dad and we had breakfast for his birthday. The food, was amazing, cooked well, seasoned super well, and the pancakes this time were nice and fluffy. I don't know, maybe they hired new cooks but like got damn that food was good I scrapped up my plate haha! The service was good, the team members treated us very nice, and the restaurant is always full. Make sure if you want to get a table get in there an hour or so after they open because they stay packed.

This place is just okay in my opinion. The staff is very friendly and the ambiance is your typical diner. However, the food wasn't anything to write home about. The portions were large, but the food didn't have a lot of flavor and didn't stand out to me. I would eat here again, but it wouldn't be my first choice. Based on previous reviews I read, I was quite disappointed.

Food and service were very good. Good prices but it is cash only. There is an ATM in the entrance though. Corned beef appeared to be premade but eggs, toast and coffee were good. Has a lunch menu as well; would recommend !

Great little diner. Always busy. Service is great and accommodating. Cash only! So come prepared or hit the ATM on the way in. Can't go wrong with a nice hearty breakfast.

Great place to grab breakfast. The waitstaff were incredibly patient while I waited for the rest of my party to join me. The food was classic diner fare. You can park in the theater parking lot next door. Bear in mind it's cash only.

Solid small CASH ONLY diner in the city! Prices were really good and they serve all the diner classics you'd expect. I got the 222 with French toast, eggs, and bacon. Food was pretty good and came out fast but I was disappointed the cinnamon French toast I ordered was so bland - not sure if the cinnamon was forgotten or just barely any was used. Street parking only.

Jim's on Main is a small (but not cramped) diner on East Main Street. I was running errands around downtown and was craving a grilled cheese, and decided to stop in. I had heard good things about Jim's and embarrassingly had never been there as a lifelong Rochestarian. There's no real parking here, or at least not during construction on what looked like might be their parking lot. There are maybe two street spots that were occupied when I went there. I took my chances and parked in the Blackfriars Theater lot since I'm a season ticket holder and thought maybe they wouldn't mind? I feel like someone had told me before they were cash only, but I of course forgot. There is an ATM right as you walk in with a $2.25 fee. My grilled cheese and side salad to go were ready super quickly. Servers were friendly and this would have been a nice place to sit and eat lunch had I had more time. There is even a wifi password but I forgot to write it down. I'd tell you to give it a try, but if you live in Rochester, you probably already have!

Lots of choices for a solid breakfast. Great prices. Waitstaff is very friendly and attentive.

!!! PLEASE READ AND BE AWARE !!! I don't like leaving bad reviews ever but I simply cannot ignore this. Upon eating my food, I watched the cook run his face and hair excessively and then proceed to touch food without gloves or washing hands. I work in a kitchen and was very distraught by this lack of serve safe knowledge displayed, especially when you work in an open kitchen. I tried to brush it off since I had already ordered and enjoyed my food, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. I got a sandwich to go and upon taking one bite at home, found one of the dudes hairs in my food and almost threw up. Would love to chalk it up to he was tired or having a bad day, but watching him not pay any mind to what he had just done did not sit right with me and leaves me to believe he does this regularly. Be careful who you allow to make your food.

Service was great, food came out quick, felt like having breakfast at an old diner and I loved it! Small little place that takes CASH ONLY and has a simple pen & paper waitlist for seating. I got the eggs benedict, which was great overall but was LOADED with hollandaise (would get it on the side next time), and the home fries were disappointingly underwhelming. My boyfriend got the 2-2-2, which looked great with 2 eggs, 2 pieces of french toast (I tried it and it was yummy!) and 2 pieces of bacon. Big menu with tons of options, the coffee came around for unlimited refills and all of their servers were quick and kind.

Waffle with blueberries $9.19 4.5/5 MOPS Omelet (mushrooms, onions, peppers, and Swiss) $8.49 4/5 Eggs Benedict with potatoes $10.39 My friend and I came here to grab brunch before stopping by a Flea Market. There was a waiting line, but it went by fast ~10 min. The staff was all attentive, and they provided free coffee refills! This place accepts cash only, but there is an ATM available. The dishes we ordered were incredibly delicious and reasonably priced. Both my friend and I finished our meals quickly because they were so good. The waffle was topped with whipped cream and maple syrup. The only thing I wished for was larger portion sizes.

Cute brunch spot. Came here on a Sunday afternoon. Luckily it was just two of us because it was pretty busy when we arrived around 12! Don't forget they are cash only! They have nice variety in their breakfast and lunch menu. I got the late riser and upgraded my toast for cinnamon Texas French toast. My boyfriend tried their Elena burger. We both thought the food was only okay. Our potatoes weren't very crispy and some of my home fries were not cooked all the way. They were pretty busy so it took a bit for the food to come out as well.

Brought my friend to Jim's on Main for brunch and we had a lovely time! The staff is very efficient, and the bottomless hot coffee was so good (and much needed!) Love their hash browns especially and can never go wrong with the omelettes with buttered toast!

Ever since I moved to Rochester in 2017, the one restaurant/diner with consistent quality, quantity and price is this one! This family owned diner is full of life. Every staff member is always smiling and giving you their best service. Me and my friends have been here and tried a number of dishes including but not limited to eggs Benedict, frittatas, omelette, sandwich, french toast and pancakes. We loved them all. The only dish I did not enjoy was their chicken salad sandwich. The chicken salad, unfortunately, didn't taste fresh. So, I ensure I order only the hot dishes. I visited this place recently after two years and was surprised to discover that pandemic didn't affect their prices at all. It costs the same as it used to. I really wish they accept cards though. They only accept cash. That's a little inconvenient.

Service is great, it is a nice place to sit down and get some food and the prices are ok. The food just isn't great. If you are nearby and it's convenient go for it, but if you're not in the neighborhood look for something else

My family and I were on a roadtrip and upon googling Jim's on Main, we decided to dine here for breakfast. We were glad we did. The food here were affordably priced and delicious. We ordered the Eggs Benedict, Steak and Eggs, French Toast and the Micky pancake. My kids gobbled them up before we can take a pic: they both finished their plates which is astounding. The only downside was that the Hollandaise sauce wasn't properly mixed; they haven't properly emulsified so the butter and eggs split, tasting more of the butter than a yummy sauce. The potatoes weren't also fully cut/cooked so they were almost crunchy. My partner ordered the Steak and Eggs, steak cooked rare but when he got it, it was almost medium. We didn't complain as we were hungry and our server was an absolute doll. We would happily come here again!

Most excellent breakfast...amazing service as well. I got the special omelet and my better half got eggs Benedict which he said was amazing as well. Easy parking too. Just a fyi it was cash only which I didn't realize.

This is a great spot to visit. The pancakes were amazing, I got the scrambled mix-in with sausage. Bacon was done perfectly. So much food we couldn't finish it all. The best value too, our 2 meals and a cup of tea for less than $20!

Be aware it's cash only! I didn't notice the small letter size paper that says "cash only" on the window next to the ATM. Food was good but I never carry cash and only have credit cards so they had to call the other location and I had to give them my card info over the phone.

Fresh great food!!! Friendly excellent service!!! Pretty much sums it up... Went in, it was super busy, wanted a table but the wait was too long. Opted for a readily available stool @ the counter. I don't like crowded places but i figured there must be a reason all of these ppl are here. Service was fast and friendly and even though it was very busy, I didn't feel rushed to order or to eat. Food was done pretty fast! It was prepared fresh, no shortcuts taken. I ordered everything I wanted to eat. An omlette, a waffle, corned beef hash, and of course bacon. Every bite delicious!I was truly stuffed and satisfied by the time I left! This place is a must-visit for breakfast!

I originally didn't want to write this review because it was a lot of energy expended on negativity but here we are. If you don't have anything nice to say, people say not to say it, but this is productive for your benefit, so I think I can make an exception. The food was okay at best (the eggs Benedict, however, was made over-easy at the hour we went, which was a weird thing to experience at all - how hard is it to poach an egg at any time at a diner, let alone at 11:30am? This seemed like they just didn't feel like making them to meet expectations). My fiancée had an order of french bread French toast and seemingly just received the ends of the bread which was bizarre. However, the worst of this was that it wasn't clear at all that the establishment is cash-only. I only found out by the cashier when I went to pay. I didn't notice a sign in front and that proves an issue - what if we didn't have the funds available to us, even considering the ATM? Furthermore, the cashier seemed very dismissive of me looking to pay for our meal. She was busying herself by counting dollar bills when I approached the counter, and seemed perturbed that I wanted to pay, as necessary. Overall, mostly due to the lackluster meal I had, the cashier's lax service, and the cash-only nature of the restaurant, I don't recommend this one and won't be returning.

I'm originally from the northeast but live in South Carolina now. One of the things that I haven't been able to find is a good, inexpensive diner. I went with a coworker to Jim's on Main for breakfast because I was craving an egg and cheese sandwich on a hard roll... this was exactly what I needed. I did the Denver Wham with a side of home fries, my coworker got the 2x2x2 with scrambled eggs, sausage, and French toast. When offered hot sauce, they mentioned a homemade meat sauce so I got that - I ended up asking for the recipe so I can make it at home. I'll definitely be back to try other things! One note - they are cash only but have an ATM on location.

Son never moved home. Jim's on Main is still our go to breakfast place when we visit. We've learned to ask for less crispy bacon. Sadly I've not seen the raspberry pancakes again. The food is still delicious.

I hadn't been to Jim's in a few years, much less since they remolded it. And I must say I was impressed. I've always enjoyed it there. And the waitress was a pro, a nice girl. Whenever I'm alone, I always sit at the counter, watch what's going on. I ordered my regular, scrambled and home fries with whole wheat and coffee. And they had a lot of potatoes cooking. And it was prompt. I wish the home fries were a bit hotter but they were good. And the cooks helper could have spent a bit more time buttering the toast. A bit skimpy. :( The place was extremely busy even early when I went. That's a good sign. And there were 3 men on the grill. The lead cook, the anchor, and the cooks helper. "All hands on deck". :) I will be back. :)

This is one of the better restaurants in the Rochester area, I enjoy the food, prices and service.

Great spot for breakfast -choices within most peoples budget. Friendly courteous service. Somebody swings by every few minutes to check if you need anything. Tasty omelette, thick toast and slightly dry home fries.

Went in for breakfast on Father's Day! It was very busy. They did a great job of flipping tables and keeping the line down. Staff and food were so good. Definitely will be back when visiting Rochester.

The service was amazing. They were very attentive and helpful. I was there for breakfast solo because I was traveling. I got a whole booth to myself and the chatter around me was very cozy.

Well it's been since it burned down that we have been here! Today is a hunk of Banana Chocolate Chip coffee cake for 1.95. Perfect with my coffee before breakfast! We shared. It was perfectly light and perfect amount of choco chips.. not too sweet! Awesome warmed with butter on top. Getting two to go for our crew! I had the special spinach mushroom cheddar omelete. Not too many potatoes too. Just right! But after we shared the coffee cake I could have had one piece of toast. That's all I could muster while eating. But I Haaaad to have coffee cake!!! Like moms. Omelete was good too. Bf had chicken Greek salad. They make their own Greek dressing with feta in it!! He devoured that up yum. Time to go back to work!!

This spot is my boyfriends favorite spot to go to if we want to sit down for breakfast. He loves their Biscuits and Gravy Special and sometimes cant stop talking about it once he's done eating it. I love bacon, so I usually order anything with bacon!! When I first moved out here, he took me and I was very hesitant to go. But when I did I had nothing but positive feedback and I definitely recommend anyone to go here, they're very reasonable and the food is always delicious.

What a lovely place to stop for a bite to eat. On the walls, you'll find canvas prints of the staff (family owned, I believe). What a wonderful touch!! Staff was over the top accommodating! It was me, my baby (7 months old) and my two friends. I ordered the two egg breakfast with sausage and home fries & toast. It was amazing! Sausage was tender. Only could eat one. Because I got a variety of food for this meal--I was hungry! I also ordered two buckwheat pancakes with chocolate chips. These were amazing! I hadn't had them for quite some time. Satisfied my craving for sure. Fluffy, cooked perfectly and drizzled with syrup! And only like $4... The ambiance is causal and comfortable and I love the diner like feel but it does in a way feel classy as well. It's perfect. If I come home to visit and stay in the city again, I for sure will return. You should try this place if you haven't! It won't disappoint!!

Best breakfast I've ever had, and for the lowest price I've ever seen. Great atmosphere as well, warm, friendly and very comforting. The bathroom too was the cleanest and nicest I've seen anywhere.

CASH ONLY. I mention this first because I know a lot of you will only read the first three sentences before you start to skim. We were looking for a quick breakfast before our distillery tour. This place luckily was only a 5 minute drive. There was a bit of a wait, and there was hardly any standing room, so if you come on a weekend be prepared. The menu is your standard American fare. The do have specials on the board which are worth a gander. The food was very good, and came out very fast! The biscuits and milk gravy were amazing! The gravy was very flavorful and the sausage had just the right amount of seasoning. The price is great too!! Everything on the menu is under 10 bucks! My meal was only $6.25 and was very filling! The service was very friendly too. If you are looking for a quick breakfast this is the place to go!

Superb diner worth the time. Service was prompt and friendly despite being very busy. The sausage Pattie's were perfection. Wife had spinach and mushroom omelet which was to die for. The diner was a bit loud but not beyond what we've seen elsewhere. Highly recommend their massive coffee cake moist perfection. Can't recommend this place strongly enough. It's that good.

Went there for lunch. We were directed by the waitress to use the qr code at each table to obtain the menu. Afterwards the owner brought menus over. I ordered from the online menu. When I got the bill the charges were more than indicated on the menu. When I asked about it the owner said the website was out of date and that's why she brought the menus. She refused to honor the lower price and said her prices were the lowest around. I would think a little thing like honoring posted prices to keep your customers happy would be an easy yes. Apparently they don't care to have happy customers. As for the food, it was nothing special. A dry, tasteless turkey club.

Found this little place today by luck. Very delicious food, good prices, clean bathrooms :-) Great service---

I wasn't sure if this was a good spot to grab breakfast at first, cause this greasy spoon seemed packed and hectic. But we got seated within 15 minutes, and I couldn't believe the selection and the prices on their menu. I ended up choosing the Mar omelet which had bacon, spinach, mushrooms and Swiss cheese (omelet was only $5.75 with toast but I added home fries for $1.10). My father got Cinnamon French toast (only $3.95). They kept on refilling our coffees too! So mission accomplished, fast breakfast under 45 minutes, a bill under $20 and full satisfied appetites!

Hunkering for a classic diner for breakfast, I am very happy to have found this family owned business on Main with an extensive menu for any taste. It is cozy greasy spoon with friendly service, comfortable booths and decorated with pictures of what I assumed were family. A digital board at the back of the space announces daily specials (unfortunately I noticed it after I ate :/ but I really don't need another excuse to go back, do I?). The blueberry buttermilk pancakes were fluffy and flavorful; the waffles very yummy; and omelette cooked to taste. I wish the coffee was a bit stronger but they own who they are!
