Jim's

Stopped in for a late night dinner yesterday. The food was delicious, the restaurant was clean and comfortable, but most importantly, I want to talk about the staff. The staff is super friendly and KIND. Our server was a sweet young man and did a great job. We were sitting near a back corner booth... three gentlemen came in, obviously with some sort of developmental delays. The hostess greeted them and visited for a few minutes. And then their server came over.... she obviously recognized them, maybe they were regulars, and she chatted with them like they were old friends. She made sure they all ordered what they wanted, exactly how they wanted it. She was so kind to them. This was super cool to witness. Thanks for a lovely late night dinner.

I love Jim's! All the food is delicious. Breakfast is so good. I went for lunch and tried a burger. It was so yummy, the bun was so fresh and the burger patty was full of flavor. I've even tried an entree off the dinner menu. I had fish and it was really tasty! Great diner atmosphere and the service is fantastic!

Good food is hard to find these days. My daughter and I had the prime rib special and holt heck! That steak tasted better than Outback and Texas Roadhouse combined. Seriously good food. The mashed potatoes were a delight for my son and my husband loved the grilled pork chips. Very homey comfortable feel with excellent service. Would highly recommend.

I was visiting Utah and wanted to eat at a place unique to the area. I saw this restaurant and saw people leaving with to go containers, so I figured it must be good. I was greeted promptly and my server was super friendly and attentive. Even though she was busy, she checked on me several times. I had the California Chicken sandwich. It was sooo good. The bun was perfect. Soft, thick and held together perfectly. The chicken was super moist and tender. It came with my choice of a side. I chose fries and they came with special sauce. The price of the food was really reasonable. All around this was a wonderful meal and outstanding service.

Cute restaurant. They decorate for every holiday. Food is yummy. Today I had the chicken gyro with fries and a hot chocolate to drink. Split pea soup, and blue cheese side salad.

We went to utah from California to attend a car show and found Jim's on the way to the event and from the moment we walked in we were greeted by the lady behind the counter and our waitress was very attentive! Highly recommend Jim's. They give you plenty of food with every order, you won't be disappointed!

My brother and I had club sandwiches there. The bread was VERY thick--too thick. I left more than half the bread on my plate. It seemed like the cook used half a loaf! Cool it guys. People come a sandwich of lettuce, tomato, and bacon, not toasted white bread.

If grandma opened a restaurant, this would be it....well, she wouldn't name it Jim's, so maybe it's grandpa's place. Either way, it's an old fashioned, slower pace vibe kind of place where you can get meatloaf or chicken fried steak and be happy about it. Service is friendly and attentive. The food is ok, although nothing that pushes the envelope or boasts creativity. It's comfort food, just the basics that you have grown to love. Portion sizes are decent and the ranch dressing is wonderful. That's a make or break item for me. Prices are reasonable and the menu has plenty of options to give everyone something they will love. Grandma would be proud.

It's hopping' at Jim's. Get in early in you want a spot for Sunday brunch! The service was fast - seems like someone is always in view, busily helping. Our server was stellar, noticed a tattoo on my son's arm and asked about shared interests. We had a great chat! French toast was great for me. Scrambled eggs were nicely done, and the bacon was a treat. I'm easy to please, but the food is just right. It's exactly the kind of food and service you need when you just need to sit down and visit. Prices are reasonable and there aren't any surprises. Thanks, everyone, for taking great care of us. We will make it a routine.

I wanted to like this spot. Breakfast is really hard to get wrong. But man, this visit was pretty rough for me. I got a waffle, and I don't know what batter they use, but they need a swift switch. It was not good; there's no other way to say it. My server felt really bad, and gave us a discount on the whole bill. I will say to its credit, the place was clean and nicely decorated. We were seated in a booth, which is my favorite with a toddler. And our server was really great. He was friendly and pleasant, and very attentive. For the price we paid on this breakfast, we will not be returning. But our server was a gem, so I hope he has sought out opportunities at a higher ticket place.

I love the home style cooking at jims. It's pure comfort food. The Omelettes are great and the chicken fried steak for dinner is fantastic

Great place for quick plentiful food and awesome service! Daily specials are awesome- great choices & prices! Menu has plenty of choices for everyone! Today we got the daily special: 2 eggs - choice of ham bacon or sausage & it comes with crispy hash browns and toast & choose to upgrade your a scone! Steak & eggs! - was the 2nd special we got - 2 eggs - hash browns- steak your way & toast! Lots of food - good prices and friendly service

Jim's is a great place to eat for a good, inexpensive meal. They give you a lot of food for a good price. I had the chicken fried steak, and it was perfectly cooked with crispy edges and delicious gravy. The veggies were bland, but the onion rings were delicious. They have wonderful chicken noodle soup and a crispy salad. The service is okay. While the service is good and fast, I am sad to say that I am not a fan of our server's personality. She was sarcastic to my mom, and I felt the need to defend my mom from the server's sarcasm. Because of this incident, I would go here for the food but request someone different. The ambiance is a basic diner, and the seat was a bit dirty. I would go here for a quick bite to eat, but I wouldn't go here for a night on the town.

The food & service was amazing. The salad was crisp & fresh. The sandwiches & breakfast meals were good size portions & tasted great.

I had the country breakfast scramble this morning, with a mocha. Mocha was cold. Eggs were a notch above Denny's level, hash browns and english muffin were fine, ham was adequate. Service was perfect. Staff was courteous, prompt and polite. Price was reasonable. The breakfast experience was 100% adequate; there's just a lot tastier & more interesting breakfast/brunch options in the neighborhood for the same price range. But it was pretty good.

Gross food! The Turkey melt was gross...horrible service. The sever never asked if I needed a box. I will not be back.

I had the pleasure of returning to Jim's - Sandy on Tuesday with my wife for a late brunch after a quick doctor's appointment. In typical fashion, the food, service, and overall experience were outstanding. On this trip I enjoyed Jim's Breakfast with toast and coffee, and my wife had her go-to French Toast Combo with sausage and bacon. The food was brought out piping hot...and promptly by RaeLynn, and we both enjoyed our meals immensely. RaeLynn did a great job as she always does when she waits on us, and the food was perfect. Wish I could give Jim's 6 stars as this new venue has turned out great for us, for special occasions, and for when family comes to visit. As it turns out a few days later I took my wife out to a late lunch after her doctor's appointment, but she wanted to try something else...so we ended up at Denny's just off Fort Union in Midvale (7000 S.) THAT was a mistake...but you can read all about that Yelp review after this one. Again, for Jim's...FIVE Stars for great service, excellent food, and decent pricing.

Came here on a Wednesday morning around 8 am. Was promptly greeted and seated by the host. The waitress, Betty, was cheerful and attentive. She was also that way with all of her other tables. Had the chicken fried steak and eggs. The chicken fried steak and crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The eggs and hash browns were done well. The pancakes were a little cakey. Customer service was great, and I felt welcomed.

This place is darling! It's clean and was decorated so cute for Easter. It has a traditional diner feel to it. We came for breakfast and the place was still hopping at 10 am. It took a while to be seated, but once we were in our booth the waitress was quick to get our orders. The food came out quick, and was piping hot. The portion sizes are HUGE!!! I ordered the Avocado mushroom omelette. It came with a generous portion of hash browns and 2 gigantic pancakes. I barely made a dent and will have breakfast for at least the next two to three days. My kids and husband enjoyed their food as well. Our waitress Rae was darling and very attentive. As for the taste of the food, it was good, but nothing amazing. However, I'm not a big breakfast person, so I'm not the best judge.

Was in town and my Momma bear wanted to come here for breakfast and my first time dining at Jim's family restaurant. Seen them all over Utah but never was brave enough to go inside. LOL We had an impatient server that wanted us to order after just handing the menus over to us. (I thought I was so antsy and compared to her I seemed tame.) The food came out rather quickly and something was off about the flavors, not sure if they used margarine or soybean oil on my eggs, hash browns, and English muffin. Just to yucky to eat, my mom enjoyed the pancakes and eggs with a cinnamon roll. Not sure I would return.

I went into Jim's Family Diner with my child to eat. The older aged male host with grey hair took us to our table. He made me feel extremely uncomfortable. The entire time we were there he kept staring at us. I couldn't figure out why a host would keep staring out me and my son. My son has autism and he noticed it also. He kept saying he wanted to leave because, "that man keeps staring at me. Can we please leave mommy?" It was so creepy. I've been going to Jim's Family Restaurant's for decades because me, my family, and friends love their food and prior to this... their service. We've gone to several different locations including this one since the early 2000's. I would give Jim's a minus 's if I could. I will NEVER go there again! Patrons BEWARE! Stay away and go yo another location!

Worst spaghetti I have ever eaten. Way too much horrible spices in the meal. Even canned spaghetti from the grocery store is better.

Delicious ! Stopped in while I was waiting for my car . Their pancakes were fluffy and thick . I've had their pastrami burger too -super juicy ! Be prepared to walk out full and happy with a to go bag

This was a pleasant surprise! We needed somewhere close to us and decided Jim's probably had a huge selection of food. We were right! Not only did they have a huge selection, what we ordered was so delicious! I got the chicken fettuccine broccoli Alfredo. oh my goodness everything about it was delicious! Pasta was perfectly cooked, the broccoli was perfectly cooked, and the Alfredo was delicious! It was just a little bit dry so I asked for an extra side of Alfredo and that was perfect! Even came with a little cup of Parmesan cheese so I could sprinkle it on myself. my friend got a turkey avocado sandwich I believe. And she enjoyed his as well.

We stopped here for breakfast before heading over to the Wheeler farmers market. The menu had a wide variety of all day food options, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The food was good, everything cooked and served properly. The only downside was our server. Unfortunately, she had a cold demeanor and we felt rushed to make a decision on the menu. We noticed she was cold with us, but friendly with some of the regular folks that come to Jim's. 4 stars for good food and atmosphere, but lacking in the customer service area.

Great family owned breakfast spot, but their dinner is also amazing. Their Cajun chicken pasta was fantastic- better than the Chili's version.

Great service awful food. We ordered chicken cajun and it was tasteless and UNDER cooked, the prime rib was yellow and green and completely inedible, our dogs didn't even touch it. Valentine's day ruined and an overpriced meal money WASTED. #NEVERAGAIN

In town for the July 4th week. We had breakfast and it was.fantastic. Liked it so much we went back and tried dinner two days later and it was very good as well. Great price and good quality and quality of food.

Great comfort food and friendly workers. Classic local diner at its finest. I got Jim's Cowboy breakfast, and it was fantastic. Delicious and filling.

Let's put this in perspective. I'm talking about breakfast, and I'm comparing Jim's family restaurant to Denny's, Village Inn, IHOP, etc. That being said, we were not looking for James Beard foundation awards or Michelin stars, we were looking for good old fashion country cooking - done right. A clear winner in the "greasy spoon" category of dining. Cooked to perfection, I had the ham, two scrambled eggs and hashbrowns with a side of pancakes. All of that was $6.69 - that's a killer deal! Cholesterol-heavy and full of flavor, Jim's is a winner. One shouldn't eat like that every day, but I'm looking forward to my next visit. A few key points for out-of-town visitors in search of comfort food ... Jim's is conveniently located off the interstate exit. There's plenty of free parking. The service is terrific and the restaurant itself is well-kept and clean. Salute!

Jim's in Sandy at Quarry Bend is an exceptional restaurant. Yeah sometimes it's better than others but it is always good. They actually care about your experience and we have often met the owner walking around and asking if everything was okay. We have never had a bad meal and every one is super friendly. We average about once a week at Jim's and would recommend going to anyone. Thanks.

Wow! It's like going back to pre-pandemic service levels. Walked in and the decor was cute (gearing up for Halloween) and we were greeted by someone right away even though it was busy. The server Julie was just the best. She gave recommendations, was quick with drinks, and gave my kids a quarter to use at the dispenser. It was so nice to go somewhere where people actually want to work and understand the service industry. And we all enjoyed our meals :)

The food was mediocre, but the service was good. The salad was swimming in dressing! The produce was fresh, I just wish I could've tasted some of the lettuce under all that dressing. The burger on the menu said nothing about sauce, so when it came I added fry sauce to the burger. Then I picked it up and learned that under the meat it was smothered in Mayo. The bottom bun was very soggy, making it hard to eat and very messy. The fries were good. The kids meals were large and well priced. Lots of options too.

Nothing to see or experience here except pretense and disappointment. It was not busy when I visited, yet it took 15 minutes for the passive aggressive waitress to take my order. Then it took another 15 minutes for my order to reach me. It was mediocre at best and was a bit gross, but I choked it down. Then it took another 10 minutes after I had finished for the waitress to realize that I was done to give me the bill and asked me for feedback. I give her honesty and she immediately made a crass comment discounting and disregarding my experience. This is indicative of how things operate here. No customer service, no quality of service and sheer ignorance. If you want to waste your money and time, by all means dine here.

Service Report It's a Saturday morning , and it's quite busy for the limited tables due to covid-19 restrictions. I just wanted to take a quick minute to give props to my server - Ms. Michelle; Friendly & attentive ! Was seated five tables (multi guests) within minutes of each other. Calm, cool, collected ... but definitely running. Great Job, Michelle

Went to Jim's for breakfast and everything was going fine. We were sat promptly even though it was quite busy. Our waitress was friendly enough and very attentive. The food was brought out quickly and it all looked good. Then my daughter had a hair in her whip cream. No big deal stuff happens my daughter is blond so there's a chance it may have been hers, unlikely considering she spotted it two seconds after receiving her plate and pointed it out before taking a single bite. Then my wife(NOT BLONDE) had a hair in her food as well! Needless to say my appetite was taken away with my wife's plate. Then the manager came to our table... He said he was sorry and then told us there aren't any employees with blond hair that worked(while a waitress was taking an order behind him with a head full of highlights) there. Seemingly accusing us of putting hair in our food or something. He did take the two dishes off our bill so I guess the bare minimum is where they set the bar. Ftr I still tipped the waitress north of 20% like I ALWAYS do.

Large menu, reminds me of the east coast diners. I think this place is better than penny ann. Good prices, pie selection wasn't vast but what they have is good and they we've large portions. This place is for those who are NOT on a diet, nothing is here healthy. Just classic American, middle class cuisine.

I like writing reviews for exceptional experiences, however my wife and I had a horrible experience this morning. We have dined at Jim's before but do not consider ourselves regulars; and that was the problem. Our server seemed so rushed in everything she did. However it was clear she had time for the regular customers. Never once did she ask how our food was; all she did was refill my coffee many times over. When we arrived, it took quite awhile to receive service at our table. I'll grant the restaurant was busy but it was obvious the regulars were getting attention. When we finally were serviced, everything was rushed. We may return but not in the near future. The lack of service made it clear that if you weren't a regular you weren't important. So much for the "Family Restaurant" in the name.

Not great food, service was good, but the food was similar to dennys, not likely to go there again.

A real sit down, old family style restaurant. Was greeted at the door and sat down immediately. Asked about our preference in seating. The food came very quickly and our served described some of the favorite dishes they served. Everything was fresh and good size portions. Price was super affordable. We will be eating here again. Wow! I am so happy I stopped here for lunch before returning to LA. The staff were so nice and friendly, but the food! I had the hot beef open faced sandwich. Homemade mashed potatoes, roast beef, covered in brown gravy. It was so delicious! If I ever return to Sandy I will definitely return for another hot beef sandwich.

I'm giving Jim's 5 Stars for the type of restaurant it is, not because the food is expensive or gourmet. They just moved here from just south of Southtown. They were a good team there and even better here, excellent service. Food is all great, again for what it is. Do you like chicken fried steaks, daily specials, pancakes, eggs your way, bacon, sausages, burgers, sandwiches, onion rings or fries ? Any of these items will be among the best you'd eat anywhere. Yes, maybe the same item, just better tasting and Always delicious. Affordable, in the neighborhood dining when fast food just isn't going to fit your pallet. Enjoy !

Great family run business. They get you in the door quick with small wait times. Especially on busy days like labor day. Good portions of classic American breakfast items. Friendly staff is quick to take your order and get your food out at once to your entire party. Go to Jim's. You're not gonna be disappointed.

The service and the food were excellent. Julie did a great job of helping us order over the phone, then had our food ready upon arrival. She also sold us on some cinnamon buns when we picked up supper. I'm so glad she did because they were the perfect Saturday morning treat. My pastrami burger was piled high with pastrami. The burger was cooked perfectly. The onion rings were very good, battered not breaded. The chicken fried steak was a hit as well. The portion was very generous. Creamy and rich mashed potatoes with country gravy was the perfect accompaniment. The cali burger did not disappoint either. An excellent blend of flavors with a great presentation. We will definitely be back!

Fantastic service! We had family fly in from Texas and Washington, a party of 14 altogether which is easier for Jim's staff, but there was also a seminar going on and Jim's only had two servers the hostess said. Our server was Rivka, who was so friendly, fast and accurate. The cooks and the food were phenomenal like always! Our hostess was amazing. Great breakfast. Service was good. Eggs were cooked perfectly. Not overpriced. We will be back.

The service people were very friendly and kind the food just wasn't very good and the waitress made a few mistakes on our order. The only thing that was really tasty in our opinion was the bread pudding for dessert.

My cousins chocolate milk tasted like water and they left the stems on my strawberries and it the restaurant sucked in general

I've been doing restaurants since the 80s. Jim and Kathy are the best all around operators I have ever seen. A wonderful value for people looking to watch their money but also be able to eat a really nice meal whether it be breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It's such a good value if you cook the same meal at home I don't think he would save very much money! Exceptional restaurant from cleanliness organization and quality/portion size of meals. You would be hard-pressed to go anywhere in the country and find price/quality/service. Jim and Kathy could've hung up the spatula many years ago and retired however I'm speculating they're still in the business to make a life an opportunity for their children. A highly recommended place to eat especially for families.

Jim's Family Restaurant has a friendly atmosphere. Our server Julie today couldn't be any nicer. She is very helpful and nice to talk to. Today I had the Cowboy Jim's breakfast and it was worth trying. Very heavy but good.

We had a big group and the waitress was really good taking care of our crowd. Food was good. Had everything from breakfast to liver and onions (yuck) Lots of options for good meal.

Jim's is a good family style cafe chain in Utah that serves a variety of American style food. Has good breakfast options that can be huge but a good price. Lunch and dinner are good as well but to me it's mostly a breakfast cafe. I enjoy the sunrise sandwich. Mmm... Their fries are super bomb also.
