Jings Residence

This was a fabulous hotel in a traditional building with the rooms set around various internal courtyards. Although the building was traditional on the outside the interior had been modernized in a very sympathetic way. The staff were really welcoming and friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. They serve complimentary tea and cake in the late afternoon which was very welcome after a day out. |The room was a good size with the most comfortable bed we had during our 3 week trip to China. It was very clean.|The hotel is right in the old town so you can walk everywhere in the old town and within the walls and get to all the tourist attractions easily from it.|There is a menu for breakfast with a choice of items, some Chinese and some Western. All was freshly cooked and beautifully presented. |This is a great Boutique hotel and a wonderful place to stay in Pingyao. |Also we went to see the immersive play Another Glance at Pingyao which our guide recommended. Although it was performed all in Chinese (which we don’t speak) our guide had explained to us all the scenes so we were able to follow what was happening. It’s an amazing experience with some great special effects and we would highly recommend it. The building it’s performed in is just outside the old city walls and is easily walkable.

This is a beautifully designed and very-well managed boutique hotel in the ancient city of Pingyao.||The staff arranged for a car to pick us up from the high speed railway station and take us as close as you can get to the hotel (it is in the pedestrian part of the city) and then they took our bags to the hotel.||The hotel is a beautiful old building arranged around a series of courtyards. The rooms are cleverly designed with a second discrete inner wall which keeps the rooms quiet and climate-controlled without compromising the aesthetic of the original building. Although, because they’re working within the footprint of the old building, our room was quite compact.||There is a nice library area where we chilled out with a bottle of wine one evening.||All of the staff members spoke great English, and were friendly and helpful. The food was very good: we had breakfast the two days we were there, which included a western eggs and bacon option, and homemade bread and preserves. We also ate there one evening - they served a set menu which included both the cured beef and noodles that the area is known for.||I would definitely recommend it for anyone wanting to spend a night or two in Pingyao.

Amazing service and truly exceptional staff, right in the heart of a beautiful city. Every detail exceeded my expectations, 5 stars hardly do this hotel justice.

If I could I would give this lovely boutique hotel 10 stars. We had the master suite, which was amazing complete with hand carved wall panels. The food for both breakfast and dinner was outstanding. But what makes this place extra special is the amazing staff. We had lots of questions while staying here and each one was answered with care and attention. The location is ideal, centrally located but not too noisy and we were here during Golden Week! Highly recommend

A magnificent hotel, ideally located. The staff is lovely and very kind. The rooms are comfortable, and you sleep well. The breakfast and restaurant menu are excellent. I highly recommend it. Thank you very much for this wonderful stay!

Pingyao resembles Disneyland due to a really annoying mass tourism, but this hotel is a real refuge from the tourist crowds, the staff is excellent and the food is healthy. The rooms are very beautiful and you can rest in the internal courtyards where there is finally silence.

Jings Residence is an AMAZING place and the only place to stay if you're planning on going to Pingyao. The place itself is beautifully decorated, it's very quiet and serene. Although, the place was remodeled none of the history was removed. The staff are all incredibly friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable of the walled city. Most staff speak english fairly well also. Breakfast is included with your stay and let me tell you, the chef is awesome! So much so, we decided to have dinner at Jings both nights we stayed there. The courtyards are impeccable and there are several to choice from to either sit and read a book or to enjoy a meal. Our room was immaculate and stocked with everything we needed. We wanted for nothing! Imam, Jacky, Jennifer, Nancy - everyone took unbelievably great care of us! I would HIGHLY recommend staying at Jings. We will certainly stay there again as this was the best part of our trip!!

Charming 200 year old guesthouse with modern conveniences. My wife and I visited for three nights in early May. Staff were very helpful in planning our days and places to eat. Rooms are small but clean and comfortable and the public areas offer places to relax and gather with friends and family. This must be the best place to stay between Beijing and Xian. Highly recommend!
