On the Grid : Jinxed Northern Liberties

"We panned the general retail offerings of the Piazza, but this is one big exception. Jinxed seems like one of the few antique stores around where you can actually still find some good deals. This is one of five locations in Philly, and the curation here is good, but the best larger pieces are shared through their instagram account and some things sell *fast.*" - The McQuades

Google
Really interesting selection of antiques, furniture, odds and ends, lighting, and curiosities. Prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly and helpful. Very cool vibes and a nice spot to browse even if you're not looking for something specific. There are 2 other locations in the city with a lot of other great furniture as well.

Low prices. Real antique materials. I found my mother’s vase and glass plate💖. I was shocked. I remembered that this same vase and plate was in 1972-1973’s. And my mother’s flat is in Adana,Turkey. And how was the same vase be here❓🤷🏻‍♀️. Directly we bought these glasses. Thanks to Jinxed Fishtown for returning to my childness and feeling to my mother’s warmth.

I had an absolutely awful experience at this store. The owner was incredibly aggressive, yelling at me and falsely accusing me of haggling, all while making racist remarks and speaking to me in a condescending manner. As he approached me in a confrontational way, I genuinely feared for my safety. The customer service was atrocious, and the antique pieces were of poor quality. To make matters worse, the woman with black hair was also racist, further adding to the hostility of the environment. Overall, this was a terrible experience, and I would never recommend this place to anyone. Im really into vintage/antiques, I was really just looking to build a relationship or even just have a good conversation. It turned out to be really bad. The Owner wanted to fight me. Ok you have to pay $6000 a month for rent. Why are you taking it out on your customers. You yelled at me because I wanted to buy something ?….. Bad business, I can see why you’re stressed. You genuinely and respectfully suck at what you do.

This site is my vibe. So many things I wanted for my mid-mod collection. A couple of things I decided to think about before impulsively purchasing; now I'm kicking myself. Just going to have to make another trip.

LOVE this spot! If I could buy the whole store (AND fit what I bought in my place) I totally would!

Google
Decent size selection of antiques. I bought a kitchen table here that held up pretty nice. Slightly over priced but still worth it

Yelp
A lot of really nice MCM furniture at reasonable prices. Definitely some solid antiques in here. Some clothes, but not many. Mostly housewares. Bought a print from here that was from the 60s. The staff told me some neat history about it and was nice to talk to. Cool little spot!

Yelp
What an eclectic combination of vintage furniture and memorabilia! The store is well laid out but filled with pieces that deserve a second look/home. The prices are remarkably reasonable and fun! The people who work there are also really friendly and helpful!

Yelp
Very friendly people, affordable, constant great selection. :) definitely one of the best spots I've visited for vintage.

Yelp
They have really cool stuff here. I love stopping in and looking around. I have never purchased anything. I don't know anyone who has. The issue is the only time they have anything affordable it's gone in the blink of an eye. This isn't the stores fault. I blame myself for not following them on social media and checking every 35 minutes.

Yelp
Eclectic selection and killer prices. Bought a waterfall cabinet in excellent shape for a reasonable price. If you're going m Fishtown, this is a must-stop.

Yelp
Jinxed in the Fishtown section of Philly carries an eclectic assortment of items. There were all kinds of unique knick knacks, furniture items, art, and oddly enough a cannon. For a relatively small space, the shop was certainly packed with things. If you are not really looking for anything specific, you never know what you may find wandering around. The prices on some items seemed high, but on others a bit more reasonable. It all depends on what you are looking for. Personally, I don't see myself actually purchasing anything here. I'm not really into antique/vintage furnishings for my home. But, it was a fun browse while visiting Fishtown.

Yelp
Pretty dope spot. A lot of cool items. Pricing can be expensive, but I guess with the location and the "unique finds" it sort of comes with it. One thing I didn't really enjoy, was that, we were in there for about 10 minutes and none of the staff said a word. Sucks... we didn't go in to buy anything, so maybe that was obvious but still, I think a little "Hey, if you need anything, let me know" goes a long way.

Yelp
A LOT has changed for Jinxed ever since the olden days where I reviewed the off South Street store that sold awesome shirts and collectible memorabilia (Review since absorbed on the Piazza location - https://www.yelp.com/biz/jinxed-at-the-piazza-philadelphia-2). But since those changes have added up to a collection of stores that feature incredible antiques, vintage furniture, art from featured local artists, taxidermy, collectible oddities, and then some, thats a very good thing. Yet it still maintains some of those tshirts and collectibles of old in the process. The Fishtown one stands out as my favorite since it features two murals from one of my favorite Philly artists Nosego (http://www.nosego.com/). They also have a cool alien mural, and Pegasus statue that came from one of my old favorite art galleries Gallery 309 (rip - https://www.yelp.com/biz/gallery-309-philadelphia). But whether you go here, NoLibs, South Street, or the East Passyunk store you're bound to find a ton of eclectic goods that you'll probably want to buy as soon as possible. Following them on Instragram gives you the best way to preview and potentially buy the newest finds that end up in their many stores. And hitting them up during First Friday can add up to catching some pretty cool art shows.

Yelp
What a place. Tons of trinkets and interesting art pieces everywhere. Whenever I walk in here I feel inspired. This location is a lot bigger than the one in the Piazza. There are tons of eclectic pieces of furniture (chairs and dressers). There is some more modern art made by local artists mixed in with random pieces from who knows where. Tons of different sized bottles and ceramic bowls. Honestly, I don't think I would ever buy anything here, though. It just seems like a bunch of junk? I guess if you like the vintage aesthetic it might work for your house but for me it just gets my imagination going. It's a great walking destination in the Northern Liberties / Fishtown area.

Yelp
A lot of great finds for super fair prices!!! How am I just discovering this place now? We walked out with 4 candle holders (forget the name), a book, a small pottery thing, and a really neat vintage floor lamp. I'll definitely be back frequently. Awesome place. Glad to see they have other locations too.

Yelp
After stalking jinxed's instagram and coveting everything they ever posted ever, I decided to go to one of their stores in person. I chose this location because it was close to where I was going to eat. I love thrifting and this place just pulled at all of my heart strings. I found the most beautiful cups for $2 each. Such a steal! They have a great collection of really cool finds for reasonable prices. Definitely will be coming in for more cool finds!

Yelp
This place is great. They have tons of awesome stuff. I was told they get new stuff twice a week, which is pretty cool. Their prices are really really good, so there isn't any haggling. I was at Jinxed last week and bought a antique rocking chair and a small high-chair for $55 total. Great value. Staff is helpful and friendly. My only con is that they are really strict about their 2 day hold policy. I paid for a couple items and needed to leave to make space in my SUV to take them home but I forgot to go back right away. When I called to let them know I wouldn't be able to come back for 4 days, since I'd be away and unable to come by, they told me they'd give me a store credit and that they couldn't hold the items that long. So I had to find someone to go and pick my stuff up for me. All worked out in the end but was kind of upsetting their first response was a store credit.

Yelp
So the past few times I've stopped in and found even more great things and excellent customer service. A gentleman who sold me something on a previous visit even inquired about my satisfaction with the item. I would absolutely recommend you shop here.

Yelp
Excellent selection of vintage/antique furniture I wanted to take home. Also some vintage clothes. Little curious knick knacks. Great customer service. Loved visiting this store.

Yelp
Maybe the best thrift store I've been to. Has all sorts of unique, quality items for the house. Recently I picked up the knack for patches; they have old, US Air Force patches, as well as new, sarcastically designed patches. Prices are all reasonable and you will definitely find something you like here. Friendly staff also!

Anni M.

Yelp
Cool spot. Worth a visit if you're in the area. Was visiting my brother in Philly and dragged him around to all the thrift shops I'd bookmarked. Haha. Jinx had some super unique items I appreciated. This is a fun one, albeit expensive.

Yelp
This place has a little bit of everything. I especially like their library of old books. I had a fun time browsing around and looking at all of the knick knacks. I walked around the store three times and kept seeing something new. I ended up buying some Simpsons pins. I'll definitely be back here to poke around a bit more.

Yelp
I love this place! I wish I lived in Philly so I could visit more often. They had a great selection of vintage/mid-century furniture at great prices. Someone else mentioned the prices could seem high but I personally thought they were super reasonable. I'd say it's worth a visit.

Yelp
This place is great! It's a hidden gem in Fishtown. I stopped by this evening just to browse. We've been looking for some old windows. Well I'm glad I stopped because I finally found what we were looking for. They have a bit of everything in this store, even some furniture. It's perfect! Left tonight unexpectedly finding what I really wanted. I grew up in this area, I'm so proud what Fishtown has become. Great places to eat and shop. This store has great prices and great items. I will for sure stop back in.

Lindsey R.

Yelp
This place is amazing. It has it all--old time pictures, old books (from the 1800's), clothing, furniture, mirrors, etc. They're all in great condition and the prices are extremely fair. I go back every weekend and there is always something new.

BV C.

Yelp
Some cool stuff but boy are they unfriendly. Stopped in this morning for the first time and never mind a friendly hello, NONE of the several people working there could be bothered to make eye contact. We'll shop local at other places, thanks.

Yelp
I love this place and spend way too much time searching for trinkets that make me remember my youth. I do believe that I have purchased something every time I walked through all of their stores. You guys need to hire me. I know where everything is in the Fishtown store. Keep up the great work.

Yelp
A lot bigger than their South Street and Piazza stores, which is an awesome thing. There is now more room to find bigger pieces, such as furniture and signs. The prices are more reasonable than flea markets these days, so you do not have to worry about breaking the bank. If you're looking for vintage/retro antiques then this is the place to go.

Roy G.

Yelp
This is what I would call a "variety store". A really good one. Very fair prices, really cool stuff to look at, and good finds!! My girlfriend got a pair of earrings and I saw like 32903903232 items I would have liked to get it.

Yelp
Just moved to Fishtown and stumbled upon this store. I was pleasantly surprised. Very eclectic and vintage items. Also very reasonably priced. Staff was friendly and definitely will come back to find interesting things to put in my new house.

Yelp
My husband and I did find several stuff interesting, but only one chair we brought home, an old school solid wood armed chair, really comfy and stylish ^^
