Yep...fell for the trap as well. Way overpriced for what you get. Simple burger, nothing special at all. Could of went to a fine dining place and got a tastier burger WITH fries, for half the price. Will not return or recommend even if it was half the price. I guess they continue there 40 plus years in business based on people like me who fell for the trap. Good for them. Bad for having any kind of repeat customer base.

the best burger you'll get in San Francisco with excellent Bud's Ice Cream milkshakes and malts. did i mention the Joe grinds his own fresh chuck daily?
unfortunately, the price matches with burgers starting around $9. certainly worth every penny of the splurge every now and then.

I wish I had checked reviews before eating here! One of the WORST restaurant choices you could make in SF. I ordered an 8oz burger with cheddar and an egg and a large fry. Cost before tip? $25. I went to a different restaurant the prior weekend and spent $15 for about the same dish but with a quality on a whole different level. (Front Porch if anyone is looking for a good burger)

GREAT food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere, reasonable pricing. I have nothing negative to say about this place (and do not really understand all the negative reviews), which is rare, because I am usually very picky. I was in town for 4 days and ate there every day! Tried other restaurants in the town but came back to get Joe's burgers. Loved the freshness of the food and the cleanliness of the restaurant...walls, floors, tables, chairs...EVERYTHING! THE CLEANEST RESTAURANT I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE, SERIOUSLY!!! If you are not willing to pay more for fresh, healthy and REAL food please go ahead and get your synthetic food from places you're mentioning and do not ruin the reputation of this restaurant!

Really good burgers, but pretty pricey. The fries and onion rings were just okay.
The tackiness of the restaurant kind of put me off. They really need to downplay the fact that they were on "Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives" because seeing Guy Fieri's face all up on the walls is NOT the way to attract customers.

I must start off by saying Joe is a legend and truly one of a kind. The restaurant, atmosphere, and Joe himself are worth the visit alone. The burger and especially the shake were very tasty. Unfortunately the staff wasn't very attentive, and the prices are a little obscene. That being said, Joe's will be missed.

A neat place, a DDD restaurant w/ a fun atmosphere and good food. The problem is that two burgers, a shared a side of fries and a milkshake--and nothing else, not even soda--should not cost $58 after tax and a moderate tip. I left feeling used and ripped off, like Joe cares far less about me and his food and far more about the money he can make off every unsuspecting tourist looking for an interesting meal.

Extremely expensive for something very average. There's literally nothing special about this place other than its atmosphere and that's not worth a $16 burger. It may be charming, but ignore this place until its ego (and prices) deflate.
