Delicious coffee. Friendly staff. But pay attention to the cleanliness of the hall. It was around 8 am. Noticeable that no one has done a wet cleaning in a very long time. And why not hang a traditional family flag at the entrance or men and women with traditional values are not welcomed enough?

Google
Very nice place to sit down with a book / laptop. Unlike people in some other reviews, I did see a person cleaning, and overall the place was nice — even for my germophobic self. Cocoa is amazing, not too sweet, very. Only downside is they don't see to offer in-store mugs, only plastic/paper cups, though it seems to be the norm for NY.

Google
Joe’s offers a very inclusive vibe flying the rainbow flag. Equally appealing is the coffee. So smooth so rich. I was impressed with the barista who made a beautiful cortado. The only downside was that is was served in a paper cup. There is inside and outside seating which makes this nice.

Google
We stopped last week for a cappuccino about an hour before the closing. I asked for a regular mug “to stay” instead of a paper cup. I was told they are closing soon and only paper cups are available. If not for that, I would give it 5 stars. The cappuccino was excellent as alway. Barista did an awesome job with latte art.

Google
Small place with a few tables. Friendly staff, very informative and kind. But $6 for a small (see attached photo) chai latte?? That’s just wrong. They do have a few milk options, including almond milk which is always nice. Overall in this neighborhood you can find better places for coffee or to sit with friends.

Great coffee poor service. Actually amazing coffee flavor and perfect strength.

The coffee here is not bad but the stuff is not nice enough. One of them totally ignored me. Other one was giving attitude for no reason. I don’t understand the annoyance. Maybe discrimination? Because both of them were pretty kind to the other people. I was a barista too so believe me I know the hustle but it’s not that hard to say hi or welcome in to the customer even if they are not your type of people. I like how LGBTQ flag is a part of their decoration but others are not welcome maybe? Idk. Most of the items on their menu is absent. This tiny thing was the only savory option so I got it. Not fresh at all, very small and “For $5” Also they are not able to warm things up because they don’t have a microwave??? What kind of coffee shop is this? Their restroom is like a public restroom. People came in only to use their bathroom without ordering anything so it was crowded only because of the people who wanted to use the bathroom and the workers didn’t care. I wasted my $12. I regret even giving a tip. Not coming again for sure 👎🏻

Google
Great cafe to enjoy New York morning! Drip coffee is quite acidic. If you don't like acidity, try Americano :)

Yelp
Perfect Mocha! Smooth, no bitterness. Highly recommend. All four of our drinks were excellent.

Sophiya B.

Yelp
Wonderful and kind workers, seriously the BEST breakfast sandwich ever! They have their own signature Portuguese poppy seed buns which hold the yolky egg and applewood bacon together perfectly! Wow coffee was strong as well.

Yelp
good consistent coffee served HOT. steps from Union Square when you need a beverage while people watching and catching a breath. a clean well lit space with decent amount of seating when it is rainy. and friendly efficient service. coffee shop simplicity is an understated need in NYC.

Yelp
Service and staff. Brought my parents into this location recently while they were vacationing here speaking highly of it before now. Left disgruntled and frustrated at how rude the staff were, leaves me regretting the tips I've left in the past and at the register that very same visit.

Yelp
I've had Joe Coffee through my Cometeer subscription so I was excited to try it in person. I was not let down. The coffee is great and the service was too!

Yelp
Every place has pros & cons. I put maybe because while preparing the beverages : the lady didn't wear gloves. She reached into the tea bag and grab the bag with her hands. COVID is still around. It was unsanitary

Blake H.

Yelp
i can honestly say in all my life ive never had a more offensive coldbrew than i had here. it was undrinkable. two sips and i was gagging so i had to throw it away. i honestly felt betrayed by the person who sold it to me. i feel like as humans we owe more to each other. i felt betrayed like someone had sold me a knowingly broken bicycle. it was so awful, it inspires me to write.

Yelp
The best part about it is the friendliness of the customers and staff. Neighborhood atmosphere is welcomin. the downside of course is the lack of quality coffee for the price point. For real artisanal or just authentic awesome craft coffee, then your best best is a store called About Coffee, about two blocks away.

Yelp
Yesterday afternoon after a tiring day I needed a pick-me-up. Passing by Union Square, I saw this coffee shop located next to Chase Bank and saw that there was no wall dividing the two. In fact one can go into the bank to get money and then spend it getting a coffee! Cortado is one of my favorite coffee concoctions and so I ordered a single shot decaffeinated. I also got a peanut ball for sustenance. Then I sat at a table to enjoy both. Two lady baristas were preparing the coffees and business was brisk with a lot of young customers. A few tiny tables and bar stools in front of a high long table facing the front were places to sit. Located in the heart of Union Square this coffee shop is ideally located and does good business. Recommended.

Yelp
Great coffees here. Love the new fig balsamic latte. Yummm. Love the updated store designs.

Yelp
I am a fan of Joe Coffee. I've visited this location in the past and it's a chill vibe to catch up or do some minimal work. I came in a bit late in the afternoon and unfortunately their espresso bar was closed by that time. Too late for that anyway so I ordered a hot chocolate. The barista was super nice!
google avatar

Joseph C.

Yelp
Joe remains one of my staples whenever I return to NYC. The strong coffee combined with the creaminess of the oat milk and the large sizes of the latte hit home every time.

Gabriella B.

Yelp
I've been meaning to leave a review for a while now so here we are... BEST coffee in NYC! Trust me, it's worth the higher price. Staff is friendly and the music selection is great. The location is right by my school (New School) and they take dining dollars. I took some students here for one-on-ones last semester and the staff didn't seem to mind me always coming in with different students that week. I was always able to find a spot to sit, which makes this place a great one for studying or socializing after classes. PS if you are considering buying a bag of their coffee, I recommend The Daily.
google avatar

elle g.

Yelp
It was not a good coffee I got a latte and the espresso was so very weak. It's right by my school which is nice but every time I go I think it will be different this time but then it's never different and I am disappointed once I taste my drink. Honestly haven't had a coffee this bad and less tasting like coffee in a really long time! Man.

Yelp
Solid coffee, staff and service was more questionable. Was at a nearby hotel and went by on a Saturday morning-- the online posted hours and the sign in the door said it should have been open for ~30 minutes, but the door was locked. Went by the next morning and was able to enter this time. No one was in there, including a barista. Waited 4-5 minutes for someone to arrive. But the coffee was caffeinated and good.
google avatar

Adam C.

Yelp
When in NYC when you need a cup of Joe, one option is Joe's coffee. I found the coffee to be fairly smooth so Joe did not have much of a bite and that is a good thing. There is both inside and outside seating so that is a plus. They have the usual drinks but I saw they offer a turmeric latte which was tempting but opted for the cortado.
google avatar

Julian M.

Yelp
Great small-medium new space for the venerable Joe Coffee! Such friendly service! Nice baristas, a good amount of seating in a compact area. The new branding looks tight. Solid Joe Coffee as always. Try an oat milk latte or espresso drink. There's a mini coffee bean roaster in the corner that looks kinda cool for on-site roasting. Croissants from Bien Cuit. Attached to the Chase Bank.
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered a cold brew got an iced coffee instead. Flavor was awful tasted like swill. Do not recommend.
google avatar

Tülin Y.

Yelp
Stumbled upon the place and loved the vibe! Almond milk Macchiato was yummy and bitter, just the way I like it.
google avatar

Walter W.

Yelp
they have the best tasting coffee. The staff are very nice. There's always a nice clean seating area to have a chat with friends.
google avatar

Russell A.

Yelp
Smoothest coffee I've had in NYC! It's the only roaster that compares to west coast coffee.
google avatar

Eric C.

Yelp
I went here just craving a plain coffee, because you know, Manhattan in the winter. The customer service was A++, and the place was extremely clean. There look like there are tons of outlets available, but that may actually do more harm than good on account of the amount of people sitting there with laptops forgetting that libraries or their homes exist. The coffee itself was very good, and was basic Manhattan prices. I enjoyed it. I'll be back because it's a coffee shop next to Union Square.
google avatar

Colleen L.

Yelp
they have their computer set to a $2 tip so be careful or else you'll unknowingly spend $10 on a latte. they also got rid of earl grey tea. I'm pissed was a daily customer will not go back.
google avatar

Paola B.

Yelp
reminder of why I'm better off at Starbucks. I could've ordered my coffee on my phone and pick it up without a hassle but I decided to make the extra effort and walk a few more blocks to Joe's. But when I get there, at 4:30 in the afternoon, there's a sign on the door: "out to lunch." Sure, the coffee is better - if you can get in the door. There's something to be said for reliability and dependability. I'll take slightly less fancy coffee that's more convenient and dependable and avoid the extra hassle.

Yelp
I came here before a job interview. The space is nice, tall ceiling, stairs to go up to get to the counter. Cute and big COFFEE sign in lights right when you walk in. The woman ringing me up was friendly. She offered me a stamp card which was nice. I didn't get food this time but I got my standard chai. It wasn't bad. I stayed and sat for awhile. I'm not sure if they have wi-fi as I used my own personal hotspot since I didn't see theirs. There was a line so I didn't feel like going up and asking. Seems like a popular spot for local businessmen/women. I would come here again if I was in the area!

Yelp
Walking miles and miles in NY for my first visit to the city ever means that I need lots of coffee to fuel me through the day. Enter Joe Coffee. Baristas were friendly and patient. Nearly always, I tell myself I will try something different but then end up ordering a cappuccino. Such was the case here. My boyfriend opted for a large iced latte. Cappuccino was standard, smooth, but nothing spectacular. The iced latte is a bit bland by itself, but a little simple syrup does magical wonders. The concept and the space is quite hip and cozy, maybe too cozy for some. The little coffee shop was constantly pullulating with patrons and there were not many seating options. All in all, you're alright Joe. I'm constantly on the lookout for new coffee spots to try and as a newbie to the city, I likely won't return unless I'm in the neighborhood hankering for some joe.
google avatar

Jerry D.

Yelp
Stopped by here as I noticed a new coffee shop near chase bank the other day. Staff was nice and friendly. I got a black iced coffee, which was smooth and bold at the same time. They make a bunch of dIfferent types of coffees. I'll try the cortado next time.
google avatar

Kellianne H.

Yelp
Drip Coffee is great! It's not as acidic as some of the other coffee shops in the area. The staff is great and I'm always helped with a smile. If you're looking to set up shop to work for a while, this might not be the best place as there isn't much seating.

Yelp
Their oat milk cappuccino and latte are really great both iced and hot! The large iced latte has 2 double shots and the small has 1 double shot of espresso. The cappuccino has the same double shot in each size, but more milk in the large. I love how the oat milk has a subtle taste that's not too sweet or overbearing in oats. This milk isn't very thick, which is a huge plus in my book. And the latte art on the cappuccino is super cute! The food options have such a cute and creative twist. I tried the chocolate chip cookie one day and the pistachio cardamom bread the next. The cookie tasted ethereal, though I don't know if it was because I munched on it in the middle of the busy workday or because it was actually a gift from the gods. It doesn't taste too sweet, and is so so soft. Recommend as an afternoon pick-me-up! The cardamom bread didn't have a strong pistachio flavor, which I'm cool with. On the dry side, but not super dusty. I'd recommend with the iced latte or a sparkling water. The staff were super friendly, even at 7am when I shuffled in like a zombie. They also provided really quick service, so I'd recommend coming in just after they open to avoid any lines. I've come in at 10ish though, and it also wasn't super busy. I think it's tucked in a pretty quiet side street off of University. None of my office mates knew Joe's was around here, so it was a great update at staff meeting since we like coffee and such. I first got introduced to Joe's at a coffee convention downtown last year, and I really love their roasts and espresso. Prefer this coffee to the green & white mermaid.

Yelp
Breakfast bar is like 7$ and so so sooo bad lol. Yelp wants me to write more but really i have nothing more to say.

Yelp
I was literally just here and I ordered a small iced latte with almond milk. The total was $6.10 and I even tipped them $1. Then i asked for half a pump of vanilla syrup and the guy gave me an attitude and said i should "definitely ask before I pay." Like it's not even a whole pump it's not a complete loss of resources for the company.... Then they gave me like a 12 oz drink?? With no lid. Super disappointed, i couldn't believe this place has a 4 star rating. Both employees weren't wearing masks either or gloves, which should be required bc of the pandemic. The employees didn't have name tags but they're were both black. From the beginning they acted like I interrupted their conversation when i'm just a customer coming into the store. Hopefully they get properly disciplined by their managers.

Yelp
Pretty good coffee and muffins here at the 13th street Joe's. A few small tables gives you the option to drink in too, which is nice.
google avatar

Mahya J.

Yelp
This place is quite interesting! It's in a convenient location , so there's loads of liveliness here. The service was fair and the decor was cool.

Hg T.

Yelp
Nice people and good coffee, but they use a payment system that deceives you a bit. After tapping my credit card for a bag of whole beans today, I signed the tablet to complete the transaction - and noticed that an 18% tip got added to my total. I'd already tipped the team here for a coffee I'd ordered. Has anyone else had this experience? Thanks.

Originalavaone A.

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE the Nutella banana bread, so I walk all the way from the financial district to 13th St. to get it. However, the customer service sucks to me at this location. I see smiles at the customers before me, and when I get to the counter, it is as if I had said or done something wrong. One individual at the counter rolled her eyes at me on two separate occasions. Again, I love the item I purchased, but now I am questioning if it is really worth the walk for the customer service.
google avatar

Gab G.

Yelp
Visited with a friend and had a large cold brew and a slice of pistachio cardamom bread, both great though I could have gone with a smaller coffee. Pretty much the same as the other Joe locations. No complaints!
google avatar

Yelp
Inspired by Buddy...we set out to find the best espresso in Manhattan. At least 2 coffee places a day for the 9 days we were in the city. We were on a leisurely walk killing some time before our next tourist trap and took a recommendation from another coffee shop on the other side of town. We hustled in and they made our coffee and we drank our coffee and my daughter drank her hot chocolate...but we weren't dazzled or swayed. It was solid "Joe" and we went on...down the street...like it almost never happened...
google avatar

Allisea N.

Yelp
Good service. Hot cocoa not so much. Order a large hot cocoa. It was neither hot nor chocolaty. I haven't tried the coffee.
google avatar

Elaine H.

Yelp
Joe is one of my favorite local chains serving high quality espressos across the city. Every time I sip Joe's coffee, I somehow feel released and relaxed. The coffee chain started about fourteen years ago, and had launched its own roaster ten years later; further proved its better quality. Another thing I liked about Joe is it's cute decoration, both inside the shop and on the coffee cups. I only wish they could bring in more seasonal specialty drink...
google avatar

Jeremy S.

Yelp
Drip coffee was fairly dark, similar to a Peets but not quite as heavily roasted. The shop is small, just a couple tables in the front and a couple along the wall as you walk in. Service was super slow. It seemed like it took an eternity to get an iced late. Seriously several minutes with essentially no line. I was chilling here for about an hour and the line around lunch time was continually huge, if the staff was cranking service times could have definitely been better. Oh well.
google avatar

Amani T.

Yelp
I haven't been over by union square in a little bit but to my surprise they opened a new coffee shop. Something that made me even more excited is the fact that they had oat milk which is something I've been dying for Starbucks to get. I ended up getting a 12 ounce iced chai latte and it was one of the best I've had in New York but still hasn't topped the place in Seattle. I will definitely be coming again as it's super close to my local movie theater!

Elle S.

Yelp
Joe's coffee is always a hit or miss for me.. I spent $6 for a small (8oz?) oat latte which I wouldn't mind but the coffee just tasted bad (very watery). The barista at this location definitely needs more training!! I sometimes go to the one next to chase bank at Union sq which serves much better coffee.
google avatar

Alex C.

Yelp
I'm just going to say it straight out that the iced coffee tasted awful. They didn't have a cold brew because it was off season so I had to get the iced coffee and it didn't taste great at all. It was super bitter and I really wished I ordered something else. This place also seems like a great place to study, however, there's no wifi so I don't know how I would be able to study at this cafe...Decorations inside looked pretty cool but I wasn't too impressed with everything else. Hopefully I'll have another chance to come back and try a different drink.
google avatar

Megan K.

Yelp
Came here for a quick coffee break during work but the maple waffle doughnut blew my mind! It was perfectly glazed with a waffle piece on top. The consistency was pretty good- light and airy instead of dense like a normal cake doughnut. I loved that the glaze was light and it wasn't too sweet. The latte I had went nicely with the doughnut. The place itself is tiny so there's not much room if you want to stay and chat with a friend but it's worth a stop just for the doughnut!
google avatar

Abby R.

Yelp
This is the most delicious latte in all the land. Ok, admittedly i haven't tried that many but it's so addictive. I get their vanilla latte (can't help myself i love the sugar ) and it is so perfect, smooth, not too sweet and such a rich flavor in the espresso. This is way better than starbucks or le cafe coffee around the corner. It's so cozy inside I love being in there and it's next door to my school so i'm here a lot since I gave it a try. Very sad i'm moving soon and won't have these lattes anymore. I get regular milk, but i know this place has great oat, almond and soy options as well. I'm in love!

Chris S.

Yelp
This location is awful since it reopened. Without the charming local art students to staff it, the staff is now often rude It takes them a while to look up from their phone as you wait. It's alway empty but they seem too busy to serve you. Manager is awful. Joe's should rethink this location, or close it. Before it make's this block of 13th more of a sad shit show than it already is. There are many options as to where you get your 6 dollar ice coffee in this neighborhood. I suggest you go elsewhere, like News Cafe on university, which is the same lovely place its been forever. The owner is there everyday, and the staff is sweet and very quick.
google avatar

Shelby V.

Yelp
Ahh Joe. Joe Coffee is the perfect mix between small local coffee shop where your barista knows your name and a larger brand that is able to offer more products. I love that Joe just got a mango avocado toast and also love that they serve Oatly. I appreciate the attention the staff gave me even though there was a line it didn't feel rushed. I don't believe there is wifi here which is my only qualm, but for the size of the space, it's good to save the tables for people actually having human interactions.

Ashley Elizabeth C.

Yelp
Drink was kinda so so, service was also so so. Overall would still recommend the place if you're not looking for too much

Yelp
On my way for a nice stroll around NYC, took a quick stop to this shop for coffee. Didn't know what to expect, short and sweet menu, and definitely hit the spot. 1) Iced chai - 5 Stars -Great milky smooth taste with a bite of chai and lavender like. Puts it on top next to starbucks. -This drink fulfilled my craving, almost downed the whole thing before having a chance to finish my stroll 2) Cold brew: -I am usually not a fan of black coffee, but this one wasn't so bad, but not something I would probably get again. -It was more on the sour side, but not as acidic as others I have tried..........much more bearable than others I've had. Nothing a little sugar can't fix! **Disclaimer: I usually like my coffee sweet and creamy, so if you are a true black coffee drinker, then this may be the right pick for you.** Setting: great place to study, but not a super big place to bring your study group. This place is more of a grab and go, but if you can get yourself a spot, enjoy.
