Was "date night" and plans was Dave N Busters, but We came to town with 2 other couples and a time frame. Researched calmer food spots and Joe's Grille came up. Let me tell you, the food presentation may not have been gourmet, but the flavor and service was 4 star. Thank you for topping our night off.

We had Kyle as our server and bartender and he was absolutely fantastic. Food is amazing. Had the "big Mac" and other cheeseburger, the pepperoni bread, a pop and a long Island for just barely over $35. Great service, great atmosphere, fantastic food and service. Thank you Kyle.

Visiting from Springfield, IL and was such an awesome place, had a blast! Bartender D was the best! Awesome food and very welcoming, thanks for the hospitality!

Food there can never go wrong with. Wings always fire, delicious, and very juicy!! To get a Diet Coke, took like 30 minutes. They do do karaoke on Saturdays FYI!

Dee, and Nick are my main guys man. They always look out for me when I'm there by myself practicing my pool game. They're pretty much like family. Ive never seen the cook before but he cooks his ssa off. Ive never had a bad meal there. The pizza and wings and the Philly cheeses teal egg rolls are my go to. Drinks are reasonably priced and never had a bad cocktail. I always drink a top shelf long Island but the lemon drops are just as good. Definitely always a dope vibe, very diverse crowd, and plenty space. 3 pool tables and plenty chairs to sit and watch the games. Definitely a 10 out of 10. Ask for Dee or Nick! Tell em i sent ya and tip them well!!!

The service was fast. The Italian is served hot and was hot when it arrived at my table. The sandwich had a good melding of savory Italian meats and was served with a side of Italian dressing to act like an au jus.

RUDE staff. Food was BLAND and dry borderline disgusting. As a person of color I would NOT recommend. Staff showed a lack of interest in my party while rushed to cater to our counter parts. This establishment is not diverse nor interested in serving a diverse crowd.

I paid for a pizza that was supposed to be cooked.i asleep pay cash & was told i could. When I went to cash out, they charged my card. Why even ask if you are gonna pull out of my account anyway?

Joe's Grill is the true neighborhood sports bar!!! What do I love about this place: 1. Fairly priced strong drinks ( they don't skimp on the alcohol) and you won't spend 1/2 a tank of gas on ice and 2 teaspoon of alcohol 2. Patrons are chill..35+ crowd...mixed,white/ black corporate and service industry 3. Service is really good.. even when busy 4. The food is actually GOOD 5. LOTS of screens and different sports Joe's is not fancy, but it's comfortable. No need for makeup or heels..you may but probably may not meet your future partner here...but if you just wanna get away with friends, watch the game and relax without blowing your WHOLE paycheck..Joe's the spot.

I ordered door dash and got a BBQ Chicken Pizza and onion rings. The onion rings were good, but very cold. The pizza was also cold and missing onions. Wasn't a lot of cheese or sauce on the pizza. I'm not sure if I'll return.

food was awful but service was good. Definitely would pass for sure....not sure why so many people like this place....Bubbas33 is WAAAAYYYYYY better with fresh food and drink specials daily!! It's a no for Joe. Yuck

Food was awesome. Stopped for lunch and had the double smash burger. Spot on and very good. Had onion rings with it. A few regulars watching a sports channel having drinks there. Only downer was that the volume was very loud for a sports talk show. It's not like it was busy and lots of people talking. Little uncomfortable. I will be back. Just hope the volume is lower (and I even wear hearing aids! ).

The food was really good. Service was lacking. I ended up having to go to the bar to request my check and a box. She was to busy talking to the regulars at the bar to pay attention to the new person at the table. I was going to order dessert, but I was never even offered a refill on my soda so I decided not to bother. I was never even ask if my burger was good. As far as Ambience it was the typical sports bar, it makes no difference to me. I only recommend going if you are a regular and sit at the bar.

Stopped by while in Indy visiting fam. Its a bar... But the burger and rings We're awesome. Everything was hot n fresh. Server was cool and on task.

Stopped into this little place after an exhausting trip to Cost Co. Drink specials and pizza specials were very generous. Service was quick. Salads fresh. Overall, this place is convenient, and hard on the pocketbook. Nice reprieve from big box stores and chain restaurants

Went with friends on a Taco Tuesday night! Bartender/server changed my tip from $2.50 to $10 on a $9.76 bill. While the owner is doing the right thing and refunding me $7.50, I hate the fact that in this day and age employees can steal and be defended by their employer who needs them so bad that theft is now allowed. The owner said it was an honest mistake. I'm sorry but entering 10.00 is not anything like 2.50. Not even close on the keypad. I can see maybe a 1 wasn't cleared out and 12.50 could have been entered but not 10 even.

Nice place. Decent food. Great service. What more could you want. I sat at the bar and traded some jokes or a while. I'll go back.

I walked in on a Monday night after reading a few yelp reviews. I was waiting for my daughter and the bartender came over to serve me and I saw all the drink specials and got one of the domestics in bottles. I decided to wait to order anything more into my daughter got there a few minutes later. The environment was friendly down-home welcoming. Loved it! Then I got a cheeseburger and fries for 695 on a Monday. It was delicious and large. I forgot to take pictures! My daughter said this is a great place and she's been looking for somewhere to hang out and maybe play pool. Just a comfortable down home place it's really friendly and I will definitely be back! By the way bartender is sweet and has a great personality!

Fast, intuitive service and excellent food. Literally, within seconds of grabbing a table at the bar, I had a waitress, a drink and a menu. The prices, wow! An entire sirloin steak dinner is $13! (Includes Texas toast PLUS 2 sides- and the list of possible sides is exhaustively humongous.) Daily specials- 7 days a week, including weekends. Specials include food and drinks. It's a sports bar, with tvs and bar games (pool, darts, etc) but I rolled in as an introverted, sports- hating solitary female on the prowl for cheap eats and a strong drink, and I fit in perfectly. No drunks sloppily hit on me, the location is in a strip mall with plenty of parking right by the curb, so no worries about a sloppy drunk following me out to my car either, score! Best bar food experience I've had all year!

I've been stopping in this joint every so often for over 20years. What a HUGE disappointment it is now. A bunch of the rudest people working there now as well as part ownership is about the rudest sob! I was embarrassed for him and truly was embarrassed by him. His karma will arrive. This will not stop mfrom stopping in there, but no more big$ will be spent or a very little tip from now on. Those days are over.

Pretty much the only place to get any decent food after 10PM outside of the weekend. Excellent bar scene, good food, and quick service.

My friends go to trivia at Joe's Bar every Wednesday night and I joined them one night. Typical bar with bar food and drink offerings, with quick service. I enjoyed playing trivia here and would come back.

Decent local place that I took a few clients to for lunch. I opted for the beef gyro which, while it appeared to be made off premises, was still pretty flavorful. The meat was juicy enough and the pita was nicely toasted. I also had a side salad which was quite large although I should have asked what came on it since it arrived smothered in packaged shredded cheese. Service was very good and prices, for the amount of food you get, are reasonable.

We got into town late and looked for a place still serving food at 10:00 on a Sunday. I'm so glad we found Joe's. The food was wonderful, the service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere was great. Even though it's a spot full of regulars, they were warm and inviting to us out-of-towners. We will definitely come back next time we're in Indy.

Hole in the wall that is a lot of fun with really good service from the wait staff and the bartender. They have 3 pool tables, a couple of dart boards, full bar service with draft beer and craft beer on tap! The restroom is Unisex and there are two sides of the bar when you walk in, juke box, plenty of seating and everyone was very friendly and dancing around having a good time. Whether you are trying to find something to do on a Saturday night and don't want to travel downtown from Castleton, you can swing in here and have a great time with friends. Tip your bartenders and make sure if D is the bartender you look out for him as he does it right and cares about his service! I will definitely be back soon to try the food menu and do a review on the food as well.

The crowd was decent and I did have fun but it was the company that was great, not the bar. I walked in, the security asked for my ID, no problem. We hung around the pool tables and every time we went to hit the ball, it seemed we just couldn't stay out of people's way, there was no room to even shoot! Luckily, my friend is a pro so it was no problem for him but we were so in the way. I also went to get a second drink with my friend and the bartender asked for my ID again. It was frustrating because my friend had just got there and she had to show it again, I walked away and said I just wouldn't get a drink. The bartender, who was the only one behind the bar, CAME ALL THE WAY TO THE POOL TABLE to ask for my ID again and said she needed it whether or not I was getting a drink because her boss wants her to do that. My other friend who was playing pool told me to go ahead and show her, or else he felt like we would've gotten kicked out. Drinks weren't even strong, I had long islands. Disappointed! Especially after so many of my friends hyped it up.

Met some friends at Joe's Grille to watch the Butler vs Purdue game. Despite Butler's loss we had a great time! The staff at Joe's was extremely friendly and completely accommodating to our group. They offered specials, which was a welcomed surprise (being that most restaurants/bars don't offer too many specials on weekends). They also have TVs all over the establishment, to include a 150 inch screen right next to the bar. The food was wonderful and the drinks were great! Definitely recommend for your next meal, drinks with friends, game time viewing, or all the above!

This place is the best dive bar around here. Yes I love twin peaks too. But you know what? This place has been here for 30 years serving great food and terrific hand poured drinks. !!!! It's not all that to look at outside but the bar tender is super friendly and the food is great !! Natasha rocks!!! 100% AAA+++

It has become a sort of Friday night tradition that after the long work week I head out in search of a first-time dining experience. Tonight, I was actually headed over to that "Happy Chicken" place on East 82nd Street in a sort of hidden strip center. I parked the car and entered this "Happy Chicken" place and it just didn't give me the vibe I was looking for - so I left. I wheeled the length of the strip center and heard music coming from this place, Joe's Grille, and thought "Hey, this could work." Yeah, it worked. I was greeted with warm enthusiasm by Tiffany, a server who was nearing the end of her shift. Joe's had a small but energetic crowd and it seemed to be made up mostly by regulars as they seemed familiar with one another based upon the conversations. There are several widescreen televisions on the walls throughout the relatively small bar and grill. There are two rooms, one with a main bar that also includes a few tables. It looked like the other room had more recreational type activities, but I didn't go in the room and can't be certain. If you're asocial, and I lean that direction, then you may take some time to adjust to the Joe's Grille environment. It's a very tight design, though the aisle between the tables and the bar is wheelchair friendly as long as it's not packed. I could see problems easily developing when the place is busy. As I wasn't drinking, I found my way to a table and Tiffany took my drink order of unsweetened tea. I checked out their multi-page menu that was largely comprised of sandwiches, all of which come with fries, tater tots or one other side. They had other items, but their menu isn't online that I can find. Essentially, it's the usual bar food variety. I saw a breaded tenderloin and thought I might discover another Indy gem. So, I ordered the tenderloin with fries for a surprisingly low $6.95. The entire meal came in at slightly under $10. The Joe's Grille atmosphere is weird and I mean that in a good way. Tiffany and the server who followed her, name unknown, were both a delight. The bar was loud, at one point with the televisions then by music. The patrons were being patrons, loud and clearly having a good time. Have you ever been to a bar where there's that one guy you get the sense is trying to be the coolest guy in the room and he's just plain failing miserably? That guy was at Joe's last night. I'm guessing he was in his 50's. He was talking way louder than needed, having off-kilter "conversations" and bouncing around like that old guy who desperately doesn't want to let go of his younger days. He felt the need to punctuate his language with a periodic F-bomb. I'd have been irritated if it wasn't just an awkward combo of sad and funny. I got used to him. The breaded tenderloin was pretty clearly not a hand-breaded tenderloin and its taste bordered on a slightly upscale fritter. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I was hoping for when I ordered it. The fries were crinkle-cut. They were likely frozen, but they were served up in a decent serving size and I enjoyed them. For the price point, I was still pretty happy. As I noted, Tiffany was great. She was friendly, helpful and seemed amused that I asked if I could linger after she cashed me out before the end of her shift. I could picture her brain going "It's a bar. Everyone lingers, stupid!" Fortunately, she was nice about it. I was handed off to another server and even got a refill from her despite having paid my bill. That was excellent. I ended up tipping both. Yeah, sometimes I'm not a cheapskate. I enjoyed my time at Joe's Grille, though I doubt it's a place I'll rush back to visit. The service was very good, while the food was pretty much your standard bar fare. I'm guessing if you go to Joe's with friends, you'll have a much better time. However, despite the chaotic atmosphere, I was able to sit at my table and enjoy some reading and didn't feel bothered or distracted. For the service alone, I'd place Joe's above average. While I'm not quite willing to go with a 4-star, it's easily a 3-star experience with good service and decent food at a good price.

Would give 0 stars if I could. Walked in and told bar server whom was also waitressing that I had a anaphylactic seafood allergy. Asked if they used same friers for fries and tots that they used for seafood and was told yes. Was told that she would call owner to ask if they could waive the up charge fee of $2.50 so that I could get a different side due to allergy. She came back after talking to owner on the phone and told me that owner approved to replace with any other side, so I ordered a side salad to replace the fry/tot option. I also ordered a burger and waitress admitted when she brought it to the table that she never asked if I wanted cheese or not on it when I asked where the cheese was because cheese was already advertised on menu. And now for the bill after all these guarantees. I asked why I was charged for the salad when she told me I wouldn't be, she then argued with me that she never said side salad would be comped, but any of the other sides would be. I stated she said any of the other sides would be comped then she wanted to tell me that she never said that while starting to throw her head back and hands up, and demanded my card and that I pay my tab. She was very rude the whole time we were there for no reason from the minute we walked through the door. Joe's Grille is an absolute joke. If you'd like to have awful service, mediocre food, and a bar server/waitress that acts like a toddler than that would be the only exception for dining here. Receipt doesn't list server name, only says "AM B". Very disappointed as I wanted to try something new and enjoy supporting non chain restaurants, but this experience was awful, and lying to customers doesn't make a business have a good reputation.

Great local strip mall bar. Lots of tv's, like everywhere there's tv's. All the major sports packages - including NHL! Drinks are very reasonable and the pours are generous. Few drafts but they rotate regularly and always something appealing. Great bottle/can selection - the manager is very passionate about his craft beers and usually has a nice mix of seasonal and local. The food is good and there is alway's a good daily special. Try the Beef Manhattan - I'm a fan.

The staff is friendly, they dont allow anybody to be crazy. They watch and keep everyone safe. To add, alot of friendly locals with a great time to be had. Really inexpensive and great for groups. Always ask for Joshua or Tiffany

I have been coming here for like 20 years. They always have great food and service. I get spoiled on Sundays when I can make it there to watch my team play. They always remember me and take good care of things.

The service is great. Menu is extensive and delicious and they have daily specials. They also have great live entertainment.

D is a great bartender. He will serve you up right. The crowd is local and friendly. Many patrons seem to move through quickly: a drink before home or a meet up with friends to stage the day.

In town for a show at Deer Creek and was looking for a late night food and drink option. Luckily found this fine establishment. Came in at midnight on a Sunday and got beers and burgers. I didn't expect much but this place delivered. Food was tasty and the bartender was HUSTLING! Seemed to be mostly locals blowing off some steam. Maybe not the prettiest interior but let's be honest this place is what it is and will fill the hole inside you.

Great atmosphere with great food and drinks! Pool tables and games..great music! Over the years still a fun place to be!

It's very sad when a patron comes in for the first time and gets treated like shit because of regular is treated like a God the bartender is more worried about losing business than running a good establishment that takes care of new customers I am very disappointed. If you are not a regular and establish it frequently did not even bother going in to this bar they will treat you horribly

I'm so sorry if this is your local watering hole. Unless you're drinking the nightly/weekly/monthly special, brews are not cheap. And not an impressive selection. They had 312 on tap, but it was $7.75 A PINT. Crazy! This place is your most basic, your most bland. The epitome of a suburban strip-mall bar. The bartender was nice. And the crowd was interesting. I'll give you that. But the music was HORRENDOUS. The food order (appetizer sampler platter) took half an hour, kid you not. And it was late and not busy. But don't mind me. I'm just an out-of-towner, passing through.

I really wanted to like this place, but after finally ordering dinner here I am dumbfounded by how they have received so many stars. My guess is that they are from staff members or regulars. I was honestly outraged by the price and quality of food. First of all, the order was wrong. We received American Fries instead of tots, and my sandwich (Dagwood) included tomato when I asked for none. The fries taste like the bottom of a freezer. My wife ordered the taco salad for $7.95. She received a stale taco bowl and what amounted to 3/4 of a head of iceberg. The chicken had some sort of slimy film on it, the ranch had a sweetness to it that made it something other than ranch, and the "salsa" was more of a tomato water. If you decide to give this place a try, I would stick with a liquid diet. Hopefully they can't screw up the beer as much as they do the food.

This is a biker-friendly bar, but the crowd is eclectic - hipsters to rednecks to gangstas to yes, bikers... you will see it all. I've seen a couple bar fights break out here, but they've all been female catfights. You know that's entertaining. I agree with Jess that the selection of beer is not outstanding and the food takes too long, but it's a pretty comfortable atmosphere to sit around and drink your Coors Light. The food is above average for bar fare. D, the bartender with the dreaded-up mohawk and the "DIABLO" belt buckle (you can't miss him), is great and pours heavy if you're into that sort of thing. There's an open mike night on Wednesdays, which is hit-or-miss. If you go more than once, chances are you're going to hear the same songs played in the same rotation as the time before.

I went on a Wednesday night, walked in to I assume locals at the bar. Tvs were blaring even thought the place was empty, but that is really where my complaints end. The prices are amazing. The food was delious. The service was good. I will be back again!

Great little "dive" bar with good food and drink specials. They have a patio out back for when the weather is nice and plenty of TV's if you are wanting to go there to watch a game. The staff is also very friendly and accommodating.

Not a good experience. The bartender/waitress was more interested in doing shots, with what I assume were regulars. After finally placing our order she insisted that we cash out so she could leave. Not very friendly. The food was okay, I had the BLT and my brother tried the shrimp tacos. Wouldn't recommend.

Joe's Grille is a great place that is sort of hidden away in a strip mall. I recommend it to everybody! The food is great and the drinks are always made well. The beer selection is pretty impressive as well. Then at the end of the evening, you get your ticket and it's ridiculous how low the total ends up being. I don't know how they do it. It's nice to go to a bar for a drink but also have the option of ordering a salad or sandwich, not just deep fried pub food. This is one of the few places where I can ask for a dirty, dirty martini and they deliver. A friend of mine ordered mozzarella sticks and offered to share - I'm not usually a fan of fried cheese because it ends up a mass of grease or a glob of dried up cheese, but these were breaded just enough and fried just enough to be delicious. The only downside for me is that it is a sports bar, so there are televisions everywhere and usually a few inappropriately loud people watching sporting events. I'm not a sports fan or a television fan, which is obviously my own problem to deal with, so I'm not going to dismiss a place just because they have televisions. Thankfully we know to go when there isn't a major sports thing happening and then it's not really an issue!

I'm new to Joes but have been there several times this week. Friendly atmosphere and good specials. Side salads are great. My favorite is the Stromboli. Ill be back

My kind of bar. Cheap strong drinks, and simple tasty bar food. The bartender remembered my name and drink on my second visit. I do love good service.

So I have been coming to joes commonly for a while now and I must say it has gotten even better and that is why I am updating my review. I tried the Hog Wings tonight and holy cow these things are amazing. They literally are ribs with the meat falling off the bone with a slight touch. I think they were the most expensive thing on the menu but it was still under 10 bucks. Last week I saw a new sandwich on the menu called the dagwood. I always had thought.the dagwood was just a big deli sandwich. Not this thing it's AMAZING! if you went to IU or PURDUE you may remember macris deli. They had a BRT. the dagwood at joes is basically the same thing. Turkey, Roast beef, bacon, cheese (not sure what kind) lettuce, Tomato & mayo. Absolutely delicious maybe even better than the ones I had in college. I highly recommend this for lunch or dinner I guess. They did have some awesome drink specials as well.and I meant to take a picture of them to put up here but I forgot. I do know Wednesday was $1 OFF al whiskeys. Overall the guests are all friendly and even asked people to sit with them around the fire pit on the patio. Pretty cool. Looking for a friendly laid back bar / grille I suggest trying this place out.

Love this place! D and Brian are my favorite bartenders! Food is always good! The best part of Joe's, is that everyone is welcome.

I was in Indianapolis on business and walked to Joe's from my hotel to watch the Super Bowl (they have a wall - sized screen! ) The teriyaki wings were really good. The drinks were generous and the bartender was friendly. The weekday specials look interesting. I'll definitely come back when I am in on this side of the city.

Other than the pregnant bartender being a bitch. It was good Tiffany was more than helpful but really I understand being pregnant you have emotions but you are in the service industry. Curb your emotions don't be an asshole

COMFORTABLE PLACE, FRIENDLY STAFF Joe's is a longtime watering hole in the heart of Castleton, just west of I-69 on the southside of 82nd Street. It's a well-worn comfortable place from decades of regulars and travelers staying or shopping in the area. Some may say the place needs updating and cleaning. They're probably right. LOL Locally owned and operated, Joe's stays open later than the many national chains that pepper the 86th/82nd Street corridor. Cheers!
