Joe's Pizza

04/22/2025: Joe’s has been around for years and is a pretty decent Italian American food in the Mesquite/Sunnyvale area. The place does need a thorough interior refresh. It is really dated, dark and showing lots of wear and tear. My family and I only get food to go. Service is okay as well.

The lasagna was delicious. And the spaghetti works was also good but there was only 3 mushrooms in the whole dish and for as big as the portion is we were a little sad about that! Otherwise very good!

We recently visited Joe’s Pizza and tried a variety of items. The garlic cheese bread was absolutely delicious! The house Italian dressing, while tomato-based and different from what I’m used to, wasn’t bad at all. The highlight of our meal was the sausage sandwich—cooked to perfection and full of flavor. The baked ravioli was decent but could have been better if the pasta were a bit more al dente. Unfortunately, the sausage pizza was a letdown. While I had high hopes after the fantastic sandwich, the sausage crumbles on the pizza didn’t deliver. The flavor reminded me more of a mix between breakfast sausage and Italian sausage, which changed the overall taste. I’d highly recommend using the same sausage as the sandwich—it would elevate the pizza significantly. One thing to note is that you place your order at the counter and seat yourself, which took away from the personal touch a bit. However, the entire team was friendly and welcoming. I’m planning to give Joe’s another try, as there’s definitely potential here!

We had the pizza with everything on it. It was nice. Thin crust which we liked. I'd like more vegetable toppings but what we ordered was tasty. They also have really good homemade rolls. We also shared a salad. It was large enough for both of us

Solid pizza place. Very good for the area. I wish they left the pizza in for a minute or two longer. They probably wanted to bring it out quickly cause we were eating in. I'll ask them next time. The chicken parm hero was great.

This is my wife and I first time coming here. I had the combo plate, and she had the meatball sub. The best thing I liked was the garlic cheese bread. My combo was ok. The salad dressing tasted like marinara sauce and not Italian dressing. My wife loved her sub. The only thing I could taste on the combo was the marinara sauce.

This is good pizza! I got the supreme with all the works. Abundant toppings, great texture, the right amount of sauce and cheese. Good stuff. I’ve been here for dine in and carry out. The service is top rate, kind and speedy. There are about five pizza places within blocks of my home, this will be my go to for pizza! Try it.

The service was pretty basic u pay then seat yourself and get your own drinks. The staff was polite. The food was terrible and I regret getting as much as I did the pizza I ordered was soggy to much sauce and barely any meat seemed like they could have cooked it longer the calamari was not good either the cheese cake was OK but not as good as I thought it would be ....honestly I probably won't eat there again I was highly disappointed......but it was busy in there and they seem to have alot of regular patronage.

Delicious Italian food for an affordable price. We really enjoyed the calzone and Stromboli we ordered. It's a very casual place (just order at the counter) and they do a brisk take-out business.

We order from here, probably once every three months when we have a large group of people who cannot agree on what to get. They have a large enough menu that everybody finds something they like. My only admonition is that I would not get their salad. I will not elaborate. The pizzas are awesome. The calzones are awesome. Everything else we have ordered has been delicious and fresh and hot. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Food is always on point very satisfying. My family really enjoys the pizza from her and the rolls are a plus.

They actually got my order right THE FIRST TIME!!!! Sad how rarely this happens! Thank you for the delicious meal on a rainy day!

This place is delicious! I loved how lemony the butter sauce was. The presentation is fun and it was a little soupy but I wasn't mad at it. I love soup so I gobbled it up! Definitely getting this again next time.

Food is always good . Hot and ready when we pick it up . Flavorful fresh People are always friendly

For Pizza only. Other dishes just don't taste right. My family and myself tried spaghetti and meatballs to Calzones. But a good location for area for a pizza,which I do love pizza so they will be making some money off of me lol

I used to do lunch here a minimum of once a week 4 years ago. Everything was phenomenal. Told everyone about it. Went back yesterday. Atmosphere is still sane which is good. I was there around 11:30 AM. I got the 2 slices lunch special. Salad was same as before. But the pizza is what got me. It was nothing more than a pre-made pizza that was probably from the day before and then reheated. I could see the original cheese melted all nice and evenly. And then on top of that and the pepperoni was more cheese sprinkled on top that was not even completely melted. Crust was extra crispy and was another clue it had been reheated from the day before. Not sure I'll be able to go back.

Amazing service, amazing food, overall just a great place to eat and vibe with family and friends definitely recommend!

This place really impressed me! I'm one of those picky pizza people. You know, it just has to have the right amount of sauce, the perfect amount of cheese, fresh veggies and taste like it was made with love. Some people will read this and think what is she talking about but real pizza lovers know what I mean. I had the stuffed pizza it was soooo good. It was my first time ever having stuffed pizza and it definitely left me wanting more. The slice was stuffed with pepperoni, sausage, hamburger, Canadian bacon & mozzarella cheese. It also came with marinara sauce on the side. The layer that covered the toppings was light, crisp and buttery not to mention the sprinkled Parmesan over the top I am so pleased with the experience. I look forward to trying more things from the menu.

My wife and I have been trying to find a decent place to eat in the Mesquite area. We have been so let down so many times by so-called good restaurants that wind up being, well let's just say not what was promised. Everything from rude staff to bad food. It's actually very nice and surprising to find such a gym in such a the void regions of the Dallas area. Lupita was an amazing waitress oh, she was attentive, always smiling, treating each party she was serving as if they were the most important party at that very moment. Reminiscent of old-school waitstaff, who took their job seriously and made an effort to at least try to serve people with a smile. The spaghetti dish and the combination dishes were both very good, flavorful and at a reasonable price. Which is hard to find these days, especially considering how everyone is only interested and getting their order as quickly as possible and getting you out the door. Basically less about service and more about taking in the money. We never felt that was the case at Joe's.

Worst experience I have ever had! We were at the Galloway location. When we went to the counter to place the order the guy taking our order was so rude and arrogant. It took 45 minutes to get 2 orders of pasta and a meatball sub. The small pizza we ordered my son didn't come out with the rest of the order. We had to ask 4 times for it and kept being told it was in the oven. When we kept questioning about it we were talked down to. It finally came out after an hour. They need to have servers who come to the tables and can keep the dining orders separate from the Togo orders. Ridiculous! I do not recommend this place to anyone!

Do not come here The pizza sucks. Besides if you pull up with the OPEN sign on at night. You'll walk in and theyll tell you they're closed and wont take your order

Still love the pizza, but the chicken piccata has become my favorite. Never have had anything that wasn't great tasting here.

Great food!! I would recommend either restaurant, there are 2. Family owned and better and cheaper than any chain Italian restaurant.

Been coming to joes since I was a little girl in 2009!! Love love love!! 100% recommend! I love that they do HUGE pizzas so amazing!

My husband was born and raised in Brooklyn NY and was really missing NY style pizza when we moved to TX. He was so happy when we found Joes. The cheese pizza has become his go to when he misses home.

Always a great meal and service is top notch with a smile. Hard to go wrong with a Stromboli or stuffed pizza!

The Food speaks for it self I love this location and the food is always fresh in hot .

During lock down I returned to Joes my favorite pizza in all of Dallas (18in pepperoni) and then I just kept going back.. like 2 or 3 times a week. No regrets!

I had 2 pizzas delivered today, pizzas were still hot and delicious. Hard to find good pizza in Mesquite, this one will be my go to from now on. One 16" pepperoni and one 16" sausage, plenty of pizza for a family of 4.

mannnnnnnnnnnnnn. when i tell you i have never ever in my life seen something as terrible as this joes. we got our food right ! then we proceeded to get out drinks. there were black spots in our ice. also as we get our cup holders there were hella roaches scattered everywhere. terrible first time experience. 0/10 never trying again.

Good, not for everyone. It comes with grease on top. I bought 2 slices 1 pepperoni and one meat lovers they were decent but definitely better with more toppings.

The food is ok. The prices are fair and the taste is authentic Italian style. They offer uniqe pizzas like the lasagna pizza. They do not offer free rolls with your dinner like some other places. I prefer Napolis in Mesquite or Garland. If you want to try something different and authentic this is a good start.

The calamari was so good. The eggplant was awesome and huge portions. Meat lovers pizza super fresh, cheesy, perfecto!

Calamari is ok but a bit tough, and no lemon. The stuffed pizza is pretty good, but the regular pizza is just ok. I was disappointed with the pasta dishes I ordered. Nothing was terrible, but I'll be looking someplace else when my next Italian craving hits.

Alfredo pizza (sometimes with green peppers and sausage / onion sometimes plain) Is amazing.. The trick is to not eat it super hot out of the oven but just slightly cooler so the alfredo solidifies into this creamy texture that is amazing. Second favorite (posted a picture) is the alfredo tortellini The other very good dish is penne ala vodka + adding chicken to it. I've never had bad food here, except one time they didn't put enough mascarpone in the canoli, I asked about it, and my next one was PACKED full. The dish is like 5-6$ something for lunch and if eating inside (not take out) you get a salad with dressing and rolls. Fantastic deal for lunch! Makes me want some of that tortellini now. Maybe later today :)

This is the BEST PIZZA I have eaten ! Huge pieces and lots of ingredients. They have other food cold and hot sub sandwiches. Then also, they have Italian entrees that are magnificent. I highly recommend people trying this place !

DELICIOUS!! We love all the different pizzas here, the Margherita is amazing, we love the white pizza and last time we tried the lasagna pizza and now it's at the top of our favorites!

Their pizza is soo yummy!!!! And the pasta I forgot the name but it has a lemon flavor it's sooo good

My wife and I just had to comment about Joes. This is our favorite Italian Restaurant. We have dined and carried out from Joes since "pop" started it right next door years ago. There is no other family or chain Italian food in the Dallas/Mesquite that we like any better than Joes. Good food and warm inviting family. Why would we go anywhere else.

I have been having a taste for pizza so I decided to try Joe's today. I ordered 2 12 in pizzas 1 pepperoni & 1 Hawaiian friend cheese h a cannoli. I had to reheat my fried cheese & I spent 36 dollars. I was not impressed. I should have just ordered a slice of each. The fried cheese was 7 bucks. My husband & I just went to Twin Peaks in Mesquite and there fried cheese was way better. The pizza was undercooked. Think I am done trying pizza down here. Will get a frozen one or make our own. Would have saved me a great deal of money today doing it that way. The cannoli would have been better without the chocolate sauce & with Pistachios on the end.

Their food is so good and always tastes so fresh. Best place for pizza and pasta in Mesquite.

Reviews are very overrated. First you order at the counter, pay, you get your own drink then sit. The "salad" had 5 small leafs of lettuce, 1 thin sliced tomato, and a raw onion ring. 2 bites and that was gone. The bread was ok and you can use the leftover salad dressing to dip. The pizza is at best blah, have gotten better other places including frozen. The pasta was not flavorful. Worst part was paying $100 for a family of 3 adults 2 kids. Could (should) have gone somewhere else.

Tasty food and a good value! We got calamari as an appetizer and an 18" pepperoni pizza and fettuccine alfredo. The fettuccine came with a salad and garlic bread. The calamari had some spice to it but it wasn't overpowering. It could have been a bit crisper and a dip would have been nice. The fettuccine was nicely spiced with a moderately thick sauce. They brought out enough garlic bread for all five of us. The bread turned out to be rolls with garlic and parmesan. Yum! The house-made salad dressing was a tomato vinaigrette that was similar to a spicy French. IMHO the pizza was the star. The pizza sauce was perfectly spiced and more of a NY style crust. All of this plus soft drinks for under $10 a person.

The food, as usual, was really good. However, when my friend went to pack up his left overs ( the portion sizes are huge) the flimsy container broke and the food spilled all over the place and on himself. While he remade the order (we pretty much shamed him to) , there were no apologies for what happened for our lousy experience or anything. All he could do was to blame the container. In addition, he was VERY rude. After years of customer service experience, this is not how you defuse a situation.

I would have gave it maybe another star but we had a waitress that doesn't feel like she wanted to be there...food is good I had the stromboli my granddaughter had fettuccine Alfredo hubby had Phili cheese steak sub he said it was ok

is this place trying to get me to spend all my money here. Man o Man off the hook seriously. On a random stop here just because i wanted to raid the other parts of the menu. After careful thought which is hard because any kind of pasta dish makes me a happy guy. I went with the Garlic Cheese Bread and the Stromboli. Can anything be this good and be legal in this country? I really tried to wait till i got home to have my dinner but it kinda half happened. It's very hard to drive while your smelling this great food. Why deny myself any longer so at a stop light i break open the bag of Garlic Cheese Bread like some an excited kid when money falls out of his birthday card i believe i might have had Cookie Monster eyes at the time. Just one little bit turned into one more than another and by the time i got home it was pretty much gone. The stromboli had the tight mix of cheese to meat even if i tasted a bit more hamburger than everything else didn't matter to me meat..is meat. Dipping it in the marinara just made it so much better. Joe's for sure will have me coming back here and trying out more things on the menu.

Easily the worst Italian food I've tasted. The chicken fettuccine was a Stouffer's frozen dinner. The cheese sticks were from the frozen food section of Walmart. The tomatoes on the foccacia bread were not ripe, and the bread was burnt. I had to pitch the meal in the trash.

If you are in the Mesquite area and want New York style pizza this is the spot I've tried almost all of the classic type of dishes on the menu and haven't been disappointed yet. Good pizza that you cant go wrong with, the 18" xxl pizza with 1 topping for 10 bucks!! Its pretty much unbeatable for the great taste you get. And the garlic rolls with marinara sauce that you get when you order a meal, is awesome I am a regular here and it always hits the spot!

Terrible! Cheese sticks are from frozen sack. Mine were not even hot in the center. Got the chicken fettuccine Alfredo and another chicken dish. Neither had any garlic or Italian favoring. The chicken in both tasted like frozen chicken pieces. Noodles were gummy and nothing had any salt or flavoring.

The alfredo pizza is the best pizza ever! Every single time we get it it is always amazing!

Yipp Yipp a great pizza place in my hometown. I am not sure if I would say drive here from Dallas, but give it a try if you are out in my part of town. Note that I am not a tomato paste-sauce lover and Joe's accommodates that like no other pizza place can. I get olive oil and garlic in a family size. This is a wonderful alternative to the red sauce. So in all fairness to Joe's and readers I have not tried the traditional style pizza, but I am overall happy with the selections available. Calzones, Spinach, Garlic to name a few. My only complaint: The smell at the place is distracting. I wish they would do something about the odd non-food smell please. I am looking forward to trying the one off Galloway and will post how it compares soon. Staff is always friendly.

We ordered 5 XXL pizzas - 1 topping for $10!!! . One slice was enough for me. Best New York style pizza I have had in a long time! The cheese to sauce ratio was perfect. And the cheese just melted in my mouth. The pizza makes me want to try all the other dishes they have here. I'm excited for it! I will definitely be eating left overs for lunch and dinner over the next few days. Can't find a better pizza for a cheaper price.

Delicious pizza! Tonight when deciding what I wanted to have for dinner, I decided to try something new from a small restaurant. I was a little hesitant at first but I called and placed an order for a 16 inch pepperoni pizza for myself and my family. To my surprise it was only $11.90. I went to the restaurant to pick up the pizza and they had it ready within 15 minutes of placing the order. Needless to say the pepperoni pizza was absolutely delicious, it was not greasy like Dominos or Pizza Hut. Next time I go I will be trying something different such as the ravioli or one of their subs.

LOVE Joe's, always friendly, food is great and very reasonable. The consistency is great, food always fresh, hot and yummy. If I could change anything the house salad. It is iceberg lettuce with the yellow parts, one tomato and onion slice....very sad.
