If you’re in a rental car and not familiar with Japanese driving, you want to be careful because getting to the New York map Museum and Garden or JogaSaki Coast can be tricky. The roads of residential sections are hard to follow on Google maps and the roads are narrow. So check the map and use the biggest roads. Walking between the New York that museum and the lighthouse is very beautiful. I would say in July in August it’s going to be very hot so you should have water to drink and go early or later when it’s a little bit cooler. If you are not used to actual hiking, you should choose wisely. There are two parallel trails for most of the hike. The trail closer to the coast/water is up and down, steep, with step lots of steps and more rocks. The shorter, easier trail is fairly level with only a few places that are rocky or muddy. You have to watch your footing you should have shoes made for walking or hiking and if you’re elderly and have knee problems, hip problems, balance problems you might not want to risk either trail. The easier trail further from the water is only about 1 km or 6/10 of a mile so if you’re in recently good shape, you can consider taking it. You can drive from one spot to the other and just pay for parking. The New York lamp museum area has ice cream and other treats and some light food and good bathrooms and a cafe. Both the lamps and the flowers are well worth the price of admission. On weekends and holidays and most of the summer, Both areas are quite crowded. Well worth a visit though. If you walk from the station, especially in warmer weather, you should get something to drink to hydrate along the way.
