I have nothing to say, it was just all very good. I was afraid to eat oysters for a long time in my life since my last experience, as a seafood lover I had to give it a go again so I did try their oysters and it was absolutely beautiful, Very fresh! The mussels were also amazing. Thanks for the good experience.

Google
Traditional Irish food, ordered mussels, beef Guinness stew and fish pie. All turned out hearty and satisfying for a rainy day. Waiter was friendly and service was nice.

Google
A great pub very close to the car park which we needed as it was pouring down. The pub was busy but the lovely gentleman who greeted us found a table very quickly for us.All the food we had was excellent and a very nice atmosphere inside aswell plus if the weather is ever nice there's plenty of seating outside.I had the soup which was great then the sausages and mash and they were sausages with Guinness in them which you could actually taste which surprised me. definitely a good find on a very wet day in Dingle and I'd definitely recommend coming to this pub

Google
We had an amazing experience at John Benny’s Pub last night. I went with a group of American friends, and they were absolutely thrilled with the food. The mussels were incredible – fresh, flavorful, and the sauce was perfect. I had the chorizo linguine, and it was absolutely delicious. The young lady who served us was fantastic – friendly, attentive, and very professional. However, there was an older lady working there who was extremely unfriendly and dismissive. Honestly, a place that serves such divine food deserves staff who reflect the same warmth and quality. Overall, the food was phenomenal, and we’ll definitely be back – just hoping for the same great service we received from the first waitress.

Google
Vegetarian perspective Multiple vegetarian and vegan menu options, in addition to the Irish classics. Was a perfect stop for us. The waitress was super helpful and helped make sure we got the first table to open up outside. She was very attentive and the food and drinks were delivered quickly. We were able to lounge and enjoy our lunch overlooking the coast.

Google
Afternoon lunch in Dingle. Great food served by friendly locals in a wonderful setting. Biggest portion of Fish n Chips I have ever been served. Lots of restaurants in this hamlet but this one was great.

Jeff Schultz

Google
Our hotel recommended this place and I quite enjoyed it. Typical pub grub but the service was quick and very attentive. The mus ic did not start till 915 which was supposed a bit later than expected however.

Robert Zilbauer

Google
Checked recommendations and picked this place out of all possibles. Was not disappointed! Great seafood chowder with tasty fish and mussels. Decent side salad and a delicious soup of the day. And, as always, sticky toffee pudding can do no wrong.

Yelp
We had a great dinner here on a Monday night. The place was busy but there was no wait. I ordered the special which was lamb chops with potatoes and veggies and it was excellent. We also ordered the potato skins and were surprised when it arrived with chili on it, but it hit the spot! My friend has to eat gluten free and this restaurant had many gluten free options. It was the first time she's had chowder since she's been diagnosed with Celiacs disease and she was so happy! They also allowed us to split the bill.
google avatar

Debra R.

Yelp
Chowder was just OK. It was too thin and not enough fish. Haddock fish and chips were OK. Scallops were excellent and plentiful for the price. They were fresh. I had grilled vegetables on this delicious pastry. It was tasty and interestingly different. The place is nice and people were nice. There are police badges in different places around the walls. The pub is small but OK for pub food. We came back the next night for local music with a traditional flute/tin , accordion and guitar player. That was excellent especially with a couple drinks.

Yelp
A nice pub in Dingle, the food was amazing. Definitely recommend the Guinness Stew. However the young dark haired server was terrible. Yes, we're Americans, but we try to be respectful of other cultures. She treated us like scum and made us feel like we ruined her day. I know European culture doesn't tip, but we would've tipped. Screw this place, if you're Irish enjoy it, if you're from another country they will treat you like trash. Nice work John Benny's, just another mediocre pub in a nation of drunks. Just put Americans not allowed on the front of your establishment. Maybe if we tariff Guinness it might effect you're already failing economy.

Yelp
Great food and service. Close to many wharf side shops and attractions. Also great pub experience. Fun place on Galway.

Yelp
This is an amazing pub. The food is top notch. The service is absolutely wonderful. The music, the crowd, lovely. This is now a destination in our hearts.

Yelp
This was a nice little pub we popped into while walking through town. We were there in the off-season, so it was fun to easily get into little gems like this place without a huge lunch line. We got VIP quality seating up against the window where we could check out the water and people watch. The restaurant extends back a bit with more seating outside the main bar area. Our server was friendly and helpful, and while the husband and I just wanted drinks, our compadres went for brunch. We sampled the seafood soup (gluten free) which was great, and the husband of mine helped himself to a bite or two of his buddy's sandwich.. what are friends for anyway?? Drinks and food were great, and we loved the intimate atmosphere. It's definitely a win.
google avatar

Maureen B.

Yelp
Nicest people ever. Also, this is a seafood place, but two of my kids have shellfish allergies. They were amazing at accommodating our family. Food was good - I had the mussels. Also, who can complain about hot whiskey at the end of the night??

Tom R.

Yelp
Classic Irish food and pub fare, with good soccer on tv and Guinness as expected. Stew, daily specials and steak were delicious.

Cathy H.

Yelp
Good food and service. Busy little place with some different menu items than the standard meals.
google avatar

Julie C.

Yelp
The staff were warm and welcoming. However, the food was mediocre and the restaurant smelled of stale beer and the floors had grim on them near the kitchen door along with pieces of food that had been dropped
google avatar

Douglas L.

Yelp
The service was meh, none of us thought the food was good - the crab wrap was just mush, my wife didn't eat half the mussels she was given, and my kid didn't even like the pizza. I don't know if it's a tourist location issue, a bad day, or it not being peak season, but it's a rough one.

T A.

Yelp
Reliable food at a centrally located for a moderate price. Stop in for a pint or bit of grub when you're down by the water front.
google avatar

Andrew M.

Yelp
Fantastic place. Super warm staff. So good we went twice. Best mussels ever - amazing flavor and super delicate. Also loved the seafood chowder, risotto and grilled beef and leek sausage.

Yelp
VISIT #1 After over a mile of walking around Dingle, we came to the conclusion that food here was simply more expensive than Dublin or Kinsale. Luckily a nice old local Irishman reccommended John Benny's as a solid value pick, and right he was! We both had the 15 euro fish pies...hearty and delicious! Not as fancy as Kinsale's Fishy Fishy Cafe's Fish Pie, but for 6.50 euro/$9 less, Benny's Fish Pie is the Fish Pie winner! Pints ran about 4 euro each. VISIT #2 Pints and Music! Not sure what the band was called...but it was the best music we heard on our trip. Get there earlier than later because it gets crowded! Luckily another American couple shared their table with us...thanks Rita and Al of Michigan!

Yelp
After a long, cold, rainy walk around town we needed some food and drinks. Randomly picked John Benny's and I am so glad that we did. Live music was playing and the pub was busy but not crazy packed. We were able to find seats at the bar. The music was nice and at a perfect level. Not too quiet and not too loud where you can't have a conversation with the person next to you. The beverage menu was good with lots of choices of booze but more importantly beer. They had local selections of craft beers along with a ton of excellent choices of alcoholic ciders. We were very happy with all the booze, beer, and cider choices we had. We shared a shepherds pie with mash and it was very tasty. The portion was huge and we were both full even though we shared. The service was also good and the prices very reasonable.

Yelp
Nice, friendly, well run establishment. Good fresh menu, drinks are great! I wouldn't hesitate to stop in and eat here again.
google avatar

Yelp
We stopped in for a quick visit here. My dad got the traditional tea (all the Irish teas come out scalding hot). I got the regular herbal tea, which was some of the best, flavorful tea I've had without sugar. Prices were a little higher than usual in the area and several others ordered Irish coffees (in to-go cups nonetheless!). It took a bit of work to get the bartender's attention just to get a to-go cup and pay

Yelp
The absolute best fish fry in Ireland!! The employees are so friendly and accommodating!! We had a table of seven and were seated immediately, without hesitation! This was especially important, because we were on a tour and needed to be back in 45 minutes. The employees were more than happy to accommodate our time restraint. The waiter that took our pint and food order, stayed and talked to us about where we were from. He was so inviting! The food is absolutely delicious!! I ordered the fresh fish and chips of the day! Honestly, the best fish I've had in Ireland. The dish comes with a fresh side salad, peas and chips. All equally tasty! I would highly recommend this place to everyone!!
google avatar

Meg B.

Yelp
Great service with a very funny waitress! Awesome traditional Irish food. Rounding up from 4.5 to 5. The mussels were a 5 star dish easily! Shepard's pie was a 4.5; Guinness stew was a 4.5 and the chowder a solid 4 as it could have used a tad more salt! Lovely bar vibe and place.

Bill K.

Yelp
miserable weather day on the peninsula made worse by a disappointing meal. I am used to the Euro service being task based vs customer service based like the states, but this was sad. had fish and chips twice already in Ireland so thought I would not order what my friends told me as a fantastic version and ordered the seafood chowder I also had a few times in travels there. but also ordered a crab wrap w guacamole onion. the chowder was potato soup with a few chunks of seafood and one mussel, and the wrap was "crab salad" at best. our server didn't ask a question when I let her take 3/4 of a wrap and half bowl of the chowder? bad food and sad service.

Yelp
We stopped in here for a light lunch before doing the Slea Head drive. They have the typical selection of Irish beers as well as some local options. For lunch I got a tomato tartlet. This was kind of like a quiche with some tomato bisque. It was perfect for a light lunch and wasn't overly expensive.
google avatar

Eden B.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this pub on accident. It's actually very good. Not a lot of tourists in here, mostly locals. I got the soup of the day (parsnip vegan soup) and it was some of the best soup I've ever had. Filled me up on this chilly day. I also had the smoked salmon goat cheese tortilla, which was pretty tasty as well. It's a very chilled out and local pub. Nice laid back atmosphere. Come here after you say hello to Fungie!
google avatar

Yelp
We came here on recommendation of Rick Steve's "Best of Ireland." The pub is right near the water and has a large menu of traditional Irish food to choose from. The bartenders doubles as servers, and all of them were kind and welcoming. I ordered the roast of the day, which was the lamb roast, and my wife ordered the shepherd's pie. Both were phenomenal, and a great value. We both left stuffed and satisfied.

Yelp
Four of us visited here early last October. I thought the food was really goid and the service friendly. I had Sea Bass w/ Pesto Mashed Potatoes, Carrots, and Green Beans. I really like mashed potatoes and will take any excuse I can to have pesto. So, the pesto mashed was a perfect side for me, and really complimented the sea bass well. The carrots and green beans were very good quality and nicely prepared. For a starter, I had a Thick Tomato Soup, which was one of the best tomato soups I've ever had. Another member of our party had the Sea Trout, and was quite pleased with it. The Fish and Chips were not good, according to two members of our group.

Yelp
One of the best places for Guinness Stew, Baileys hot chocolate, and Baileys coffee. The mussels were the best mussels I have ever tasted. The seafood chowder was very tasty too. The service was also very good. The decorations were awesome too. I'm from Chicago and I saw a Chicago police badge hanging on one of the ceilings. It was nice to see a little slice of home. Also many other badges and knickknacks from other states and countries.

Yelp
WOW- we stopped here whilst doing the Slea Head Drive and boy are we glad we did. As per usual practice, we checked for good food using Yelp and searched by price, location and ratings. Walking in here was like walking into a Aladdin's cave. It was just a plain door, but you enter into a fantastically adorned bar buzzing with live music. The atmosphere was eccentric. We ordered the: x Fish and Chips- 3/5 very average x Fish soup- 2/5 hmm, I expected it to be soup, you know, the traditional watery kind. It was not soup but a thickened cream type base. I was told by the waiter that this was how they do their soups at restaurants because it's too hard to do it "home style". Service was very attentive, this young lad with a pony tail and glasses- it was so busy but he was always eyeing our table and always ensuring our water was topped up and our tables cleared. He was very sweet. I wouldn't come back here for food, but I'd definitely revisit for beers.

Emily J.

Yelp
We stopped by because of the good reviews. We ordered the seafood linguine and the fish and chips. Both were okay. The service was excellent but the food was a bit disappointing.

Alex R.

Yelp
We were staying in one of their apartments and came down for food. This was the best fish and chips in our entire U.K./Ireland trip. The live Irish music and the fact that they were ok with our kids being there after 9 was what pushed this to 5. Great place!
google avatar

Spencer Y.

Yelp
I got the Sheppard's Pie special. Food was solid and affordable for Dingle! The Guinness was cheaper than other places I've been in Ireland, too. Great atmosphere!
google avatar

Kyle S.

Yelp
We stopped at John Benny's for lunch one day during our stay in Dingle. We shared a pot of Mussels, and they were tasty. The sauce they were cooked in was flavorful and perfect for dipping the bread. I also got the seafood chowder, which is why I am only giving 4 stars. It wasn't bad, but it was kind of thin and there wasn't much to it. The service was friendly. I would probably go back, but avoid the seafood chowder.
google avatar

Chas M.

Yelp
Had lunch and a few pints here. Hit the spot. One of the best meals we had in all the the 32 counties, for real. Service was good but not stellar. But as long as I had a pint in front of me I was OK. Daily food specials are the way to go.
google avatar

Jen H.

Yelp
AMAZING. The food looks like it comes from a magazine. It has a lot of options on the menu if you do or don't like sea food. Such fresh sea food and great flavors in all the other foods. VERY FRIENDLY STAFF!!! Go here it's better than anything else on this strip for food!
google avatar

Niamh V.

Yelp
I love John Benny's!! The staff are great, food is great, music is fantastic! John Benny is a wonderful host and very attentive and friendly. A MUST for Dingle visitors :)
google avatar

Paul A.

Yelp
"Just ok", We landed into John Bennys with a group of 8 and the first problem was trying to find somewhere for us all to sit. Once tables had been moved and beer mats used to level wonky tables we had a look through the menu. Surprisingly lacking in fish dishes, a lot of us went for steak. We also had the hake, beef stir fry and bacon & cabbage. The food was decent but is expensive for what you are getting, while the steak seems good value at first the lack of sides provided and the cuts of meat used tempers that view somewhat by the time you are done. Now having said that some if the prices bring charged in eateries in Dingle are very high so having a slightly more affordable option is good, but I just felt that value isn't just down to price and I didn't feel it was great value just a few corners cut and a bit rough & ready. So in the end, just - OK.
google avatar

Kevin C.

Yelp
The food was straightforward pub fare, but it was decent nonetheless. The live music was also authentic although less amplification would have spared my ear drums more.
google avatar

John K.

Yelp
This place is the best. Walked in by myself and they were so friendly. Shepard's pie was delicious. Met John the bar tender and John the owner. The best of the best. If I could give 10 stars I would .
google avatar

Michael D.

Yelp
Lovely pub, lovely people, delicious seafood. (If the "fish pie" is available, order it -- the name doesn't come near to doing it justice!) A great place for a meal, a drink or both on your way to or from the Dingle Peninsula!
google avatar

Danielle A.

Yelp
We went to John Benny's pub on our last day in Dingle. We stopped here for lunch. I enjoyed the crab wrap. The restaurant was busy and the staff was friendly. It was a lively pub with everyone watching the World Cup.

Abbey F.

Yelp
The service here was excellent and very friendly. The food was delicious too. We came back for dessert at 10 after leaving for about hour to go watch a soccer game at a pub up the road and they still served us!!
google avatar

Angie B.

Yelp
We ate here our first night in Dingle, in May 2009. Dingle was still a little slow and empty at that point, so this place wasn't hopping (as I've heard it can be during the summer months). No "Trad" the night we were there. However, it was a very decent place for our first pub meal of our 10-day trip. I had the fish & chips (cliche? you bet) and a Harp. Fresh and delicious! I can't recall what my partner had, but I know he enjoyed his as well. FYI -- this place is also known as John Benny Moriarty's or just John Benny's.
google avatar

David H.

Yelp
This is a great pub. Great music and nice people working there. The live music started at 21:30 local time. My wife and I really enjoyed listening to a trad session in a Dingle Pub. I had a great time.
google avatar

Sayseye N.

Yelp
Fantastic and relaxed service by seasoned professionals. Strong array of standard pub grub but very well prepared. Good live music.
google avatar

Allison M.

Yelp
I have had a couple memorable evenings at John Benny Moriarty's. Some of the best live music is played here!
google avatar

Jack Q.

Yelp
Our large group stopped in for dinner and were quickly seated by the old guy tending the bar. He immediately started giving us a hard time and we loved every minute of it. He had a great sense of humor and we were going back and forth laughing the whole time. That alone earned a few stars. On top of that, the food was quite good. It was pretty normal pub fare, but with better flavors than other places we tried. The seafood chowder was simply the best that we had in our entire time in Ireland, and we tested the chowders everywhere we went. We had a great time.

Amber Z.

Yelp
Great gin and tonics, and beer. Loved the beer garden. Worth stopping in for a drink.
google avatar

Kenneth W.

Yelp
We had a wonderful time at John Benny & Eilís's place. The accommodations were perfect all you need is provided feels like home away from home. Their wonderful pub is right there with great food and entertainment. If your lucky you will hear John and Eilís's play and sing for you. The location is perfect to pubs and shops. John and Eilís's are great hosts and the rest of the staff are kind and helpful. You will not be disappointed!

Adam S.

Yelp
Guide book trap overrun with tourists. Steer clear. Service was fine, food was overrated.

Mama H.

Yelp
Lovely. And Lively!!with the fabulous live music at 5 pm! So many really great fresh food options.

Carl N.

Yelp
Comfortable friendly and right on the main drag. Watched some soccer and had some pints. Loved strolling in there and soaking up the friendly vibe
