Our waitress was super helpful and friendly. We had pasta, short rib, trouts, and fried sprouts. The Trout was fresh and the rib was tender, but we’d enjoy more if the pasta(angel hair) was not overcooked.

Stopped for lunch. Nice and clean, upscale decor, and clean bathrooms. Ordered the cheeseburger and fries. The patty was hand formed, everything was fresh, and the fries were the breaded type, which I prefer. Overall a good experience. Went back another day for breakfast and it was just OK. Leaving rating at 5 star.

After suffered a few days eating those overpriced and terrible burgers from Yellowstone’s monopoly Xanterra’s restaurants, finally there is a restaurant that provides REAL FOOD. We ordered the brussel sprouts, short ribs and seared trout. All great. The short ribs are very tender and flavorful, recommend. The service is very prompt and friendly too.

My wife and I ate breakfast here while camping at Colter Bay Campground. My wife had the Ranch Hand Breakfast which was a hearty serving, while I had the Breakfast Burrito. Both were good but nothing special. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful but wasn’t the fastest while we were trying to get on the road for our day’s adventure. All-in-all, I wouldn’t come here just to eat, but it was a great break from camp cooking, and I’d recommend it to anyone staying in Colter Bay!

Our service was the best part of our meal. We ate a dinner first night. It was ok. Beer was better. Second day we had breakfast. Breakfast was actually decent. Our waitress was amazing again. Milk taste a little strange. Not sure if it is real or box milk. We also ate dinner the second night. Though pricey, the experience was much better.

Google
I ate lunch here one day and had the chicken breast sandwich - the chicken was paper thin. Luckily, the goatee cheese and relish on the bun were really good. Server was really sweet. I also ate dinner one night. Same idea - elk burger tasted like a frozen patty but the bar tender made a great s’more martini.

Lovely Park building. We got Latte and Mocha from here to-go. Service was quick and friendly, however coffee was just okay.

Forget the places in Jackson, this restaurant is better! Our hostess, server, employees and the general manager created a perfect evening. They worked together as a team to provide exceptionally attentive service. We ordered the Fried Brussel Sprout app, Hermitage Trail Salad, Jackfruit Tacos & Huckleberry Cheesecake. By far, the best meal we have had in years. The wonderful flavors of the food were incredibly delicious. The chef did not skimp on the ingredients. The presentation was impressive. We almost didn't visit John Colter's Ranch House at Colter Bay because of the mixed reviews. We would have missed out on an incredible dinner & service!

Yelp
Went to dinner at this restaurant to have the chicken but it was sold out. My wife wanted tea but it was also sold out. To start we had the queso and chips. It was pretty good, it was just a little bit spicy and the chips were fresh. For dinner my wife had the salad with chicken, she was happy with the overall taste of the salad and it was big enough for 2 people to share. Since I couldn't get the chicken I settled for the the burger and fries. I couldn't tell you how disappointed I was with my meal, the burger had zero flavor and somehow my French fries were came out cold. To be honest I ate about half my burger and a few fries and left the rest of it to be thrown away. I would assume that the cold fries was a fluke but the guy eating next to us sent back his soup because it was cold. My suggestion would be to avoid this place unless you want a salad for dinner. As for the service my waitress was nice and quick to bring refills as needed. I left her a good tip because it was not her fault that the food was so so.

Yelp
If you're reading this, you're probably trying to choose between stopping here or the Trappers Grill at Signal Lodge. If you go for service and satisfaction over range of food options, this is your place; the team is all friendly, helpful and keeps the place clean and filled with happy diners. The menu is basic (like most national park restaurants), but portions are huge and the food is fresh and tasty. We really liked the servers and their cheery, welcoming attitudes. The Moran Salad is HUGE and could feed 2-3 people.

Jeremy S.

Yelp
Stopped by here for lunch and had their green chili burger and soup of the day. Both tasted great! Not extraordinary by any means but very good for national park food. Service here was very friendly and helpful as well and the restaurant was nicely kept and decorated.

Hayley H.

Yelp
Walking in, the place was playing country music & had such an old time country feel. Felt like home! Our server Regina was so sweet & she checked on us a few times. I had the biscuits & gravy (one of my favorite meals) & I was very satisfied!

Taylor R.

Yelp
Best food place to visit if you're traveling through the National Parks. The best part has to be either the bread rolls or the fact that this business status open late for their travelers! Although we had a mix-up with our Family Style dinner, the manager was quick to fix our issue and gave us a free huckleberry cheesecake in return! Would return here soon

Yelp
Wow! On an adventure of life and visiting Grand Teton National Park!! The Colter campsite recommended this place for dinner. I ordered the ribs. Wow, talking about amazing you know they're good when I fall right off the bone when you barely touch them. Definitely sit at a high top as well! Good vibe!! Great bartender/waitress, she was by herself, but did a great job for being as busy as she was.

Michael S.

Yelp
Most mediocre food I've had. Just picture being at a 4th of July party and the new guy volunteers to man the grill... Service and ambiance were also mediocre. Guess when you are one of the few places to eat in Grand Teton you don't have to put much effort in

Jenna W.

Yelp
I ordered the Moran View Chopped Salad and it was delicious! All freshly cut ingredients and packed with flavor. Everything on the plate is organized very nicely into a beautiful presentation, so you're able to mix the ingredients together that you want mixed. I was extremely impressed and happy with the amount of food in the salad. It covered the whole plate with tomatoes, corn, onions, cheese, shredded cheese, an avocado, an egg, and of course lettuce covered with Chipotle dressing. Our meals came very quickly, within 10mins and the staff was very accommodating knowing we spent the day hiking the park. Not only was this a delicious meal, but it was the cheapest on the otherwise expensively-priced menu. Highly recommend getting it if you're staying at the cabins or in the area for dinner.

Yelp
Good food and cocktail. Huckleberry margarita: 4.5 stars. well balanced. Must get. I enjoyed the salt on the rim. Just the way it is grained and flavored. Brussel sprouts appetizer: 5 stars!!! slightly crispy but not burnt! Cheese and bacon balanced out the brussel sprouts with flavors and texture. Rainbow trout: 3 stars. Fish head great consistency but somewhat simple and bland. It was ok for me but was not a hot with the rest of the group. Smoked brisket: 4.5 stars. Must get, especially if you are a meat lover. Pick your two sides. Plenty of food. Shrimp pasta: 3 stars. Plenty of food for 2. A little heat but a little bland too.

Yelp
We were looking for a dinner spot after a day in the Tetons and happened upon John Colter Ranch House. We arrived at 430ish and they weren't serving dinner til 530. We snagged one of the last open seats at the bar and got some drinks. They also had a shortened menu that could be ordered from so we got the spinach artichoke dip and wow it was one of the best I've had in a while. There was a pretty long line at the host stand waiting for 530 so they could be seated and all be bar seating was full at this time as well. I ordered chili, I should have opted for the bowl instead of the cup, but that was my mistake. I ate it all and wanted more. It was so yummy! My husband got the filet special and he thought it was good! We got an order of cheese curds as well, the portion size was huge and honestly that was the only part of the meal that was lacking, I did not like the breading on them. Our service at the bar was good. The bartender was nice and working her butt off the whole time since every seat was filled up! We enjoyed ending our day with some drinks, good food, and the football game. We were so hungry after a day of hiking, we forgot to take pics lol

Jesena M.

Yelp
Choices are slim if you stay in this area, especially with covid and the limited seating. We were in line when the restaurant opened and with maybe 8-10 couples ahead of us, we still had to wait a good 30min to be seated. I'm not sure if there are limitations in WY on percentage of people allowed, but I would say it wasn't more than 25% full at any point. The food was ok, I'd almost say solid, since we had worse in the parks, but still nothing to write home about. Our server was very sweet though and took good care of her tables. Breakfast was also pretty expensive and my husband was trying to get his burrito to go, but the hostess said it's not possible without officially sitting at a table?! Well, he sat down and ordered his breakfast with a to-go box, very odd.

Andrew C.

Yelp
Very tasty food, have stopped in for lunch and dinner and the cafe since we're staying in the cabins. The service is phenomenal, everyone from hostess to bar backs and service people are super friendly and welcoming. Our server was RJ and he was great and knew how to give us fast and efficient service with our little guys. I got the chicken Caesar and my wife got the ribs while our little guy got Mac and cheese with veggies. Food was tasty and flavorful. Only critiques was my grilled chicken for salad was pretty dry, the huckleberry margarita though delicious was pricey for a very small glass, and it got very warm on the outer tables where there was no fans. Also the cheese curds were a side for lunch but there own app for dinner?? Anyways, would definitely recommend for any meal, and definitely have to get their pizza at some point too!

Sharon P.

Yelp
Our waitress was wonderful and food was amazing. We both had all American burger on homemade fresh bun with fresh lettuce, ripe tomatoes and onions were sauted. Best cheeseburger we have ever had! Side dish of fruit was ripen, fresh and delicious! Our grandson ate the whole burger and fruit and pint of water and he never eats more than half a meal. Grandpa had the Moreno Salad which he said was totally awesome!! Definitely recommend since this place was epic!! Atmosphere was very pleasant!

Sydney J.

Yelp
We just got drinks cuz the menu is quite pricey. The guy next to us at the bar had steak with Chimichurri and said it was awesome. Our bartender was cool! I had the Huckleberry Margarita and the other Tequila drink I forgot what its called but they were awesome. Bartender let me connect to her bluetooth speaker so I could introduce them to some Texas country. We had a great time hanging out there before returning to our campsite

Fiona Z.

Yelp
My friend and I were desperate after a failed campfire and burnt soup can dinner so we came here during the summer. Overpriced tourist food offering takeout during COVID. $15.90 or so after tax for a cheesesteak with a side of mac and cheese (? It's been a while so I'm not sure what we ordered). The mac and cheese was the saltiest but somehow most lacking in cheese flavor mac and cheese I've ever eaten. -1/10, would not recommend. The cheesesteak was much better in comparison.

Jeremiah C.

Yelp
Kids chicken tender, Bison burger, kids linguine, Buffalo wrap, 3 sodas, and two cocktails came to $140. The majority of the food was not edible. Service great, and atmosphere is greatt....Holy smokes, the food and prices are awful! Eat here at your own risk.

Richard S.

Yelp
We ate here our last night at the resort. My Steak (see picture) was very good and Diane loved her Shrimp and Pasta dish. My only complaint is that the gravy on the mashed potatoes and the Chimichurri Sauce didn't work well together. If I ordered it again I would skip the gravy.Service was outstanding and they are wheelchair accessible.

Kyle V.

Yelp
Average tourist lodge just north of Jackson Hole, inside the Grand Teton National Park. During the pandemic, they were taking orders from 2 windows and bringing the orders out to a table and announcing your name. This was the only lodge that was open in the park, so there was quite a long line. The pricing is way too high for the quality of food you get, but that's the tourist trap for you. I had the Veggie Thai Wrap with potato wedges and Mac & Cheese. I would have liked to add meat but they weren't allowing any modifications during COVID. I also had a slice of pepperoni pizza as well. Basically the whole order was basic overpriced cafeteria food, which is what we expected. They have quite a few tables scattered around outside, which was perfect. A lot of people seemed to be taking their meals back to their cars/campers. The staff was friendly but they did not want you walking to the window until they completely sanitized everything, which was kinda comical.

Olive O.

Yelp
It is freezing in this place. They won't turn on the heat. I had to send back my brisket sandwich. It was inedible pieces of fat on two pieces of white bread. Sooooo expensive. Husbands would have been a lot better off with a junior Mac from McDonald's than the hockey puck served here. This place should be ashamed of themselves. Go anyplace else or just don't eat but don't go here.

Mitt N.

Yelp
It was hot this afternoon at the Ranch House at COLTER BAY. Air conditioning maybe not so good for a hot day. Made dinner a little less that satisfactory. However, the food was good and the service excellent. The smoked pork ribs are very tasty and neither too dry nor greasy, just perfect balance. The salad bar was fresh, varied and of good quality. On the whole, not bad at all.

Gyorgy K.

Yelp
Don't waste your time coming here. They just come up with weird rules like they stop seating people 15 minutes before the posted breakfast timeframe. Try instead Leek's Marina & Pizzeria. They're awesome!

Lindsay H.

Yelp
I had the pesto pasta (forgot what it's actually called) and it was super good! It was one of the best pasta I've ever had! I hope I can make it at home! Would eat here again if we are ever back out here in Yellowstone. It hit the spot and was yummy in my tummy!!

Roy W.

Yelp
Worst breakfast I've ever had, how do you screw up coffee ? "Gad it's beans and water" (Life with Father) bacon was raw which is a heath hazard, biscuits under cooked sausage gravy had yesterday's links cut up instead of fresh ground, $20.00, no eggs, never again !! I can do better in my trailer

Laleh J.

Yelp
I rarely have written a 1-star review. But this one surely warrants it. We arrived with a party of 5 at around 30 minutes before the restaurant was scheduled to close but were turned away by the extremely rude and unwelcoming hostess, who kept her gaze down and didn't even look at us as she told us she could not seat us because the kitchen had to close exactly at 9 and that she had 5 other groups she had to seat.

Kirk H.

Yelp
There were already a lot of people here when we came in for lunch, but they told us we could wait in the bar. The bartender was super nice, and we thoroughly enjoyed our 45+ minute wait chatting with her about the park. Once we got seated our server apologized for the wait, and was equally nice, with a good sense of humor despite the crazy crowds. He told us that he had been working 12+ hours per day since starting and hadn't really had a chance to see the park, but despite this he had a great attitude. Then came the pulled pork sandwiches, which were some of the best pulled pork I've had. Overall, well worth the wait, but understand that they are swamped this year.

Stephanie B.

Yelp
Choices are slim in the area but if you want something other than camp food, definitely check out the Ranch House. Open for breakfast lunch and dinner they have something for everyone. I agree with a previous reviewer...it's good, not great. My breakfast potatoes were par boiled not fried as a hash should be so I ordered more but crispy. They sent out something completely different. Kind of cubed, preseasoned fried potatoes. Not appetizing at all. But the rest of it was good. Eggs were well cooked and portions were generous. Pro Tip: hit the pizzeria next door. Great pizza!

Andrea K.

Yelp
I have really severe food allergies, and my family wanted to eat at the pizza place next door, which didn't sell anything I can eat. I came here and asked to purchase something to go and they refused to sell me anything unless I dined in. I don't understand turning away a customer like that. Terrible service. Will NEVER patron this place.

Charles E.

Yelp
This is a National Park?! My expectations were low and they hit it out of the park. The old days of NP cafeteria food are gone. Had the trout. It was excellent. Wife had the Moran Salad. It was amazing. We were a captive audience and would have most likely eaten here as it's the only place around. But we were pleasantly surprised

Gregory C.

Yelp
Stopped in here for lunch on our way north to Yellowstone National Park. The dining room was closed due to them being short staffed, so we had to wait for a spot to open up at the bar area to get seated. As this is the only place around, we waited, and after about 10 minutes we got seated at the bar. Had the wings and a Bison Cheeseburger with a fried egg on top. Both were delicious. Also tried a Huckleberry Margarita. It was the best Huckleberry Margarita I ever had. Aces

Cindy R.

Yelp
The food was decent. We got the club sandwich. The service was good, the waitress said there were only two servers on duty, so was not speedy. The setting is nice.

Bradley H.

Yelp
The waiter Rj is so good the trout is the best!! If ur here you have to try it!! Everyone I was with loved it

Huey F.

Yelp
Met some friends here for dinner one night in the Tetons. Very typical western, ranchy, casual restaurant. We ordered the trout dinner with wild rice pilaf and sautéed carrots, while our friends had the pesto pasta and chicken chopped salad. Service was very good, and the food was fresh and tasty. This is a pretty decent choice if you're in Colter Bay. IMHO, better food and service than the pizzeria/ cafe next door.

Khaled A.

Yelp
Surprisingly a decent place for lunch in such a tourist location. We went to this place for lunch around 1pm and it was quite empty which might explain why we had better than expected service in terms of having the food ready in a short time. I went with the french onion soup as a starter. It was good and heavy just as expected. For my main dish I went with the goat cheese salad and added salmon to it. The goat cheese was delicious even though the other ingredients were just ok. The salmon was had a strong fishy smell, it might help to either cook it more or add some spices or lemon. My wife went with the portobello sandwich and she thought it was good, and the portion was a bit large. Overall a good place to eat lunch if you are in the colter area but wouldn't drive for this place itself.

Jason C.

Yelp
The root beer IPA is pretty good! Club sandwiches and Bison burger tasted good. Kids loves them. The ranch pie also good.

J. R.

Yelp
Stayed in Colter Bay for one night. The front desk suggested this place (why wouldnt they?) Were seated pretty much right away at opening for dinner at 5:30. Our server, Skyler was great. The food was delicious. My brisket was excellent. Plenty of space for seating.

Jason X.

Yelp
The restaurant is poorly run. We came here at 5:30pm for dinner. By 6:30pm, they are running out of house bread rolls. The salad and soup bar offers soups that don't taste freshly made.

Paula C.

Yelp
The John Colter Ranch House is a great place to eat if you are in Colter Bay. We couldn't get a reservation at the Jackson Lodge and we didn't want to cook. I had the trout and my husband got ribs. Both the trout and the ribs were delicious! The mashed potatoes were "meh" and the asparagus was army green overcooked. The salad seemed out of a box, but overall, we were happy to get a place to eat. The bar was masterfully tended by Gavin and we had a very nice evening, overall.

Rudy R.

Yelp
We came here on July 18, 2019 at 930am and it took 25 mins for 2 bagels and 2 coffees. They had bad service and we heard Steve bieny the manager, be rude to a family who waited an hour for 2 burritos. When asked by the customer, how long does it take to make a burrito, The manager Steve told the customer that it takes 20 mins. When the customer retorted that he if he had a tortilla he could make it in 2 minutes. The manager arrogantly replied that he should hire him to be his cook. I understand mistakes occur, however, when the manager told the customer that he would hire him since he knew how to make a burrito faster than his cooks, that was unacceptable. .

Domingo C.

Yelp
Poorly run restaurant in terms of management control & customer service in that the employees & manager are always right and the customers are always wrong or mistaken. They are quick to defend themselves instead of simply saying , "I'm sorry, let's take care of you"..The managers very first response was, "I personally train the employees properly". Thus, they are infallible and the customer is imperfect and therefore always wrong. After I suggested to the manager that a simply apology would suffice, he quickly said "we apologize" but again insinuated they made no mistake and simply retracted his apology. What ever happened to the old saying "The Customer is always right". At the end, we bring them job security & income. Maybe the employees and manager need better training other than the current manager.

Anca N.

Yelp
Food is great. Came here with the family, each dish was flavorful; ordered a side of Mac 'n cheese for the littlest one and was enough. The chilly was quite savory.

Matt L.

Yelp
Very disappointed with the quality of the food for being in a National park. Me and my girlfriend came for breakfast after deciding that we didn't feel like starting a campfire to make our own food. Honestly, we could have made better food on the fire. We came and looked at the breakfast buffet, and after seeing the very limited, hotel like breakfast options, we decided to get one of their "hot meals," and to our disappointment, we received meals that looked like they came straight off the buffet line. We might as well have gotten the buffet. For $30 for 2 meals you might as well drive 40 minutes to Jackson and spend another $30 in gas.

Leslie T.

Yelp
We had such a great experience we went twice. Sat at the bar, bartender Brian is very friendly. The 2nd time Brian also waited on us. Again friendly but hard working. We had the buffalo chicken wings and I think they were the best I've had even better than mine. They are chrispy and still moist inside. Awesome experience. Next time we will definitely be going back!

Julian N.

Yelp
No bread rolls left? Just bs. I came around 6pm and they had no more bread left. I would leave them 0 stars but I was forced to put 1 star. Don't waste your time.

Beth G.

Yelp
Great spot! And this is in a National Park...as my husband put it, "literally a place they don't have to try very hard." We're picky millennials who prefer to eat like kings, even when we're camping. I ordered the stuffed salmon special and my husband ordered the beet salad with caramelized goat cheese. The salmon was perfectly cooked. We loved every bite of both dishes. We ordered the huckleberry white chocolate cheesecake for dessert. Perfectly cooked, soft and creamy. We noticed they have an inexpensive salad bar with soup included, if you want to save money. With two beers, entrees and a split dessert, the bill was about $60. Reasonable for such great quality food. If you're too lazy to cook or just want great food, try this place!

Anna F.

Yelp
We stayed in the hotel complex next to this restaurant for one night. Decided to go to the only sit down restaurant in this village. We had practically zero expectations, and boy we were surprised! Everything was cooked to the order from real ingredients. You should expect country style meal, without fancy chef souses. Bottom line it tastes just good.

Page H.

Yelp
Ate here one night after hiking! We just sat at the bar and had pub food. The spinach artichoke dip was creamy and so delicious. My husband and I shared a big burger with fries. It was cooked perfectly and was also perfect for sharing! Soda was yummy too!

Emily C.

Yelp
Ate here several times during my stay at Colter Bay Village in Grand Teton. I was impressed with the precautions they are taking for COVID-19. For Summer 2020, the inside dining areas are closed and you order, wait, and pick up your food outside. Then, you can sit at one of the many picnic tables (that are appropriately spaced out). The staff sanitize the ordering and pickup stations after each customer. I'm very cautious about eating in restaurants right now because of COVID-19 and I felt comfortable eating here. The staff are all really friendly too. Someone mentioned the food being overpriced and while I do think it is slightly overpriced, you're also eating in the middle of a national park in a remote area. And the quality of the food was good. Side note: if you need wifi at the park, this restaurant and its parking lot had the best connection.

Toby X.

Yelp
Hmmm, the bun for the bison burger was so hard to bite. The patty was bland, not flavor. The portobello sandwich has a thick sour cream in it, taste very weird! Overpriced. The server is very nice so making it 2 star.

Kim H.

Yelp
The food was really good, the service was just about the worst we have ever had. Hubby had the BBQ plate, which he found very tasty. I loved the bison chili, but it took over 30 minutes from order to table. Frankly, our server had absolutely no clue on how to wait a table. We were seated 10 minutes before our drink orders were taken. He never came back after we placed our order to let us know there was a delay (when our food finally arrived, he said there had been a "mistake in the kitchen" - we were skeptical) but he never checked on us, or apprised us of the delay. After serving the food he never checked on how we were doing, and we waited at least 15 minutes after finishing our meal for the check. We gave NO tip, which is something we, who tip fairly (between 15 & 40%) very rarely do, maybe once a year.
