TDLR: Common Ferris is better Wide variety of AYCE food for in and out of campus consumers. They have a diverse menu that rotates on a daily basis with a stupendous drink selection! They boast a vegan section, salad/fruit bar, desert section, pasta, and proteins. However, the food can get boring. The only protein they really serve is chicken and they reuse/reheat baked goods from days ago. The dining hall fashions a quaint design and many dubbed it the Harry Potter hall. Yet, the hall is just so humid and sticky most of the time. There’s no AC and there’s like random power fans that’ll blow your wig and plate away everytime you walk past it 👎 FSCI NSLC thanks for reminding me to review this place 😂

The food was fantastic and for VERY affordable prices (for non- students such as perspectives too!) They were very nice there and the cashier guided me to all my needs. They supply incredible Star K kosher food as well! Sadly even though the hall was packed it seemed as if everyone were very isolated from one another, like everyone tried to be alone.

I rarely leave reviews, but it feels like the staff has some level of discrimination. Until they improve and elevate their service, I wouldn’t recommend international students to go there, unless you want to endure their bad attitudes while having a meal filled with resentment.

Last week Monday on second week of class shopping. First time I went there in the evening never again! This worker was extremely rude and unwelcoming. I was trying to figure out what I wanted because all they had was chicken and beef. The lady shouting and getting so impatient when I wasn’t even there for 5 seconds. Since this lady seems to be the boss around there, all of them need to be trained on customer service they assume that everyone that comes there are under 22. Regardless of age they have no human decency, need to learn some respect or get a different job because she was so rude to the point where I almost lost my appetite just from that behavior alone. I don’t need someone with an abusive attitude and aggressive tone to be speaking to me before my meal and I hope all these cc and Barnard students speak up for themselves. As I am one of the mature students at Columbia GS so we most definitely know something is incorrect there!

I really enjoy eating here. It's buffet style, so you can eat as much as you want. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. They serve all types of different foods for halal, vegan, kosher and other speciality eaters. My only complaint is that you need to go at certain times since it can get very crowded.

Nice place to get some snacks at Columbia. The lines can be harrowing at times though.

John Jay Dining Hall is Columbia's largest and, for me, most homely dining hall. The dining hall food here is also the most varied. On Mondays, watch out if you like meat. John Jay serves no main meat entrees for Green Monday every week. There are meat options available, but the lines for these options do get long on Mondays.
