On the Grid : Parque John Lennon

"John Lennon Park is a nice spot to check out a slice of life in Vedado. Walk around, check out the gift shop, maybe take a ride in a convertible, sit on the benches and people-watch. And of course, take your picture next to Lennon (not Lenin) on his park bench. There was a man who’s job it was to hold his glasses and keep them clean, but apparently they were recently stolen, so he's out of a job. In a country where the Beatles were only heard underground for decades, this plaza is a little monument to a changing Cuba." - Noah Friedman-Rudovsky

An interesting park with a statue of John Lennon on a bench. It's not a big park in general, but it's nice to visit. The market is here on weekends, so it's also nice to visit then. It is located in New Havana, i.e. Vedado.

A beautiful and quiet park full of trees where you can see the statue of John Lennon sitting on a bench. John Lennon has never been to Cuba so the name of the park comes just from his fans. It is a sight where all the the taxi tours stop there so that the tourists can take photos!

As a Lennon and Beatles fan I couldnt not to visit this place. A week before I was in Strawberry Fields in NYC, saw Dakota building, Imagine mosaic, John's rim glasses (original) in Hard Rock cafe near Yankee Stadium and now ...THIS ! The imagie / likeness of this statue to real J.L. is incredible! Congrats to the artist. (PS. You can see my pics from Hard Rock cafe and Starwb. Fields and Dakota on G Maps here).

Fairly large, clean outdoor park with a cool statue of John Lennon. In the middle of a once upscale but deteriorating neighborhood , makes for excellent photos. No outdoor vendors or shopping nearby.

On one of the benches of the park, nearer the corner of streets 17th and 6th, there is a sculpture of the former Beatles member John Lennon, sculpted by Cuban artist José Villa Soberón, seated on the bench's right end. On a marble tile at the foot of the bench there is an inscription reading: "Dirás que soy un soñador pero no soy el único" John Lennon, which is a Spanish translation of the English lyrics, "You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one," from the song "Imagine".

The statue of Lennon is great, but it was so refreshing to see kids playing in the park and having a great time. It's hard not to smile when you're here because everyone is having a great day.

Very nice park here in the Vedado, La Habana. Every Saturday they have a farm market where you can find different types of food, fruits, vegetables and some other types of goods. Try it, you’ll like it. :-)
