John Lewis at Victoria Gate in Leeds is a large department store, located over five floors. The store is spacious, modern and has a nice selection, stocking a good number of brands you’d expect to find here. The layout of the store was simple and easy to find what I needed; there was a lack of clerks on the shop floor, and I don’t think I interacted with a staff member on my most recent visit due to this. The technology section is especially good, with a large selection of Apple Products as well as TV’s and general household appliances in a comfortable environment where the store still felt spacious while packing a lot of items in, leading to a better shopping experience. I feel the toilets here could do with being checked more regularly, as on my past visits here, I’ve noticed issues with cleanliness, but the rest of the store remains clean and tidy. All in all, this is one of my favourite John Lewis locations in the north of England, and it is a location which the brand can be proud of.

Purchased from John Lewis and waited a week for delivery. When their delivery crew arrived on Monday they were full of attitude and simply didn't want to deliver the item because it was heavy and he had a sore wrist. They claimed there was insufficient room to manoeuvre and refused to deliver and install the wash tower. We had to follow-up with their shipping dept who refused to listen to anything we had to say, despite providing the dimensions of our access and hallway which was almost twice the width of the product being delivered. Long and short of it, we had to cancel the order with John Lewis because they flat out refused delivery. Ordered the item from another well known company yesterday which was delivered and installed today (Wednesday) with no issue and no fuss. Drivers today couldn't believe our delivery was refused by John Lewis. Will NEVER order from them again. I hope this serves as a warning to others. Hopefully they have enough ethics to post my review with video and photos. Hopefully they take action with their shipping dept, be it, in-house or contractors. Clearly delivery should never have been refused.

Shop at the Leeds John Lewis regularly. Usually good put the person in perfume section today really upset me. The price label for a Prada perfume moved and when I went to till to buy something....I was given a different price. The reason given was people move labels around and we cant do anything about that. I would be interested to know what the bosses think of that as a response. No apology and a very dismissive atttitude. I was thinking you would say "sorry that isnt good, we need to sort that out, would you like a refund". Not hard is it. I certainly was made to feel a little silly. I know I pay a premium price when you shop at John Lewis but for that premium you expect excellent customer service. Don't think we get that really. Maybe its time to follow the crowd and go online I suppose.

I bought a Samsung TV S90D online. Knowing that the tech needs time to break in, I paid attention to how the panel behaves. I started noticing vertical banding and the dirty screen effect within darker colours, like near-black greys and navy. I took pictures and presented the issue to a John Lewis agent; the agent recognised the issue and booked me an appointment for a repair collection. The TV was collected by Martin Dawes - Doncaster, but they didn't fix it because it did "not show any faults with the TV under normal watching conditions as set by the manufacturer" — a very dismissive and lazy response. The TV was sent back to me unfixed. I contacted JL again as I wanted to exercise my consumer rights, but I've been told that if the "engineers" see no fault, then it means the unit is good. I was still appointed a different service centre (10/02/26) — Yorkshire Multi Media Services from Bradford. The "engineer" came by for 3 minutes, used the fancy built-in test patterns, used the toilet, and left, saying he would send a report within a week. He probably sent it to JL with a claim that there's nothing wrong with it. Over a week later, there has been no communication — nothing besides a survey sent out by JL asking how happy I am with the repair service provided. My advice to anyone buying: stay away from retailers, brands, and services that do not exercise merit, have no standards, and keep doing the bare minimum of what we as consumers expect them to do. Footnote: It is also worth noting that the extra John Lewis warranty is absolutely pointless if they cannot provide the correct service or support even within the first year of purchase. A multi-year guarantee holds no value if the retailer refuses to acknowledge clear hardware defects.

Unbelievable how Unbelievable unkept the cafe on the 4th floor. pretty much every table was full of cups and dining waste. The staff walked around and went back empty handed on 4 occasions while was there. people complaining about delays in food. There was no sign of management no sign of pride, zero engagement. Don't get me wrong I love shopping in John Lewis, I love to treat my wife and daughter. The reason we didn't eat was if the outside service was like a bomb had hit it I couldn't imagine what the food prep area was like. get a grip... I wouldn't have given any star but it was the lowest option available!!!

I bought a bosch speaker on 9 October. This was sent out on the 10 October and JL messaged me to say it was ready to collect. When I went to collect the speaker, I was told it had been recalled by JL. I spoke to customer services who advised it had been recalled due to a fault with the product and I would be refunded within 7 days. Since then I have found the item was not recalled by Bosch but was recalled by JL because they had mis-priced the speaker. Rather than being honest and saying this, they have tried to place the blame with the manufacturer and lied. I spoke to customer services again last Friday (nine days after ordering) because I still had not been refunded. Eventually they confirmed they had received the speaker back and my refund would now be processed but it may take some time because they have lots of other customers also waiting for a refund. How reassuring (not)!! It's now 12 days since I ordered from JL. I have never been in receipt of the item I ordered, they recalled it without informing me leading to a wasted journey to collect it. I have spend well over an hour on the phone and chat to them. They have repeatedly lied about what had happened and they are still witholding my money. I have been a loyal customer of JL for many years but will be shopping elsewhere in future. The trust has been broken.

Through to Leeds John Lewis, went to top floor cafe. Nice selection of sandwichs . My wife and I had soup, this was great value and warming on a cold day. Latte and soup plus bread bun £9.40 Later on went back and had cream tea and coffee £8.75. Cafe very clean staff polite service good. Lovely store to look round, my wife also bought new dressing gown. Super quality and last for years. As always a nice experience to shop at John lewis

John Lewis & Partners is located in Victoria Gate, it is my favourite department store in Leeds city centre, the store is a good size, it is fairly modern so the store looks good. The store is over five floors, the selection is pretty good overall, they did have a nice selection of men's bags and televisions in particular. The technology section was just OK, other John Lewis stores do it better, I wish they had a nicer selection of more high-end laptops in terms of specifications, a mix of laptops to suit all budgets and needs would be one of the first ways I'd improve the selection in-store. They had toilets over multiple floors, which is pretty convenient, the one downside to this is the cleanliness of the toilets, which were obviously dirty, perhaps they hadn't got round to cleaning the toilets on one floor yet? One of the things I hate most about John Lewis, which applies to most of their stores in the absence of a food hall, given the fact they also own a large supermarket chain (Waitrose), I don't see why a small selection of groceries or even food brands, which one would find in rival department stores such as Harvey Nichols and/or Selfridges isn't included here. Some other branches include a Joe and the Juice bar (or similar), which is absent here but would be a great improvement for the future. 4* - Very good John Lewis store, but many other John Lewis stores do it better.
