As someone who used to live in Dallas , who has visited the likes of the former DavidBartonGym in New York and other cities back several years ago, I'm extremely happy this gym vibe has made its way to Texas. As their idiom goes: "it's not a place, it's a feeling," and nothing holds true more.
Finding John Reed Fitness Dallas is honestly a minor undertaking, since the main entrance is actually on the ground floor of the multi-level parking garage - and if you're not paying attention, you might just miss it as you drive in to park. The gym itself takes the entire basement level of the garage, and is a huge space to explore.
After greeted by the very friendly front desk staff, I made my way into the main areas of the gym. As you descend the stairs, you first see the massive cardio floor, followed by your typical weight machines, cable machines, and free weights. With a separate room dedicated to squat racks and straight/angled fixed barbells, there's no shortage of equipment here. In addition, they've also got a cycling studio and fitness studio. Since I only had one day in this gym since I was visiting the area, I didn't have a chance to check out any of the classes.
That said, day passes to John Reed Dallas are only $30, so worth it whether you're there to work out on your own or take a class as many local fitness studio are around the same price.
The equipment is all very standard yet upscale, and as mentioned earlier plenty of it. The locker rooms have full amenities with one notable exception - while workout towels were available they do not provide shower towels. It's a great gym to get a solid weight-focused workout where the vibe is on point. Will definitely make this my local go-to when needing a good workout in North Dallas.
