"Rum is synonymous with The Bahamas, and at John Watling’s Distillery, the spirit is hand-crafted in small batches in downtown Nassau (the rum is named for the English “pious pirate” who refused to plunder on the Sabbath). Go for signature Bahamian cocktails and free tours of the 18th-century Buena Vista Estate." - Travel + Leisure Editors

"John Watlings Distillery, located in the historic Buena Vista Estate from 1789, offers tours and tastings where visitors can taste the 'liquid gold' named after the pirate John Watling and enjoy a cocktail or two at the distillery's bar."
I had a great experience at John Watling’s Distillery. From the moment I stepped onto the historic property, I was immersed in the history and craftsmanship behind their rum. One of the highlights was the Piña Colada sample. It was smooth, refreshing, and perfectly balanced. It set the tone for the bar experience, where every drink was made to order. The on-site store and eatery made the visit even better. I loved being able to browse and take home a bottle of their signature rum while also enjoying some local bites. Next time, I would like to take the tour to find out more about the distilling process.

Loved this place! Free tour and tour guide was awesome, super chill, informative and concise and the ambience and staff were super friendly and answered all our questions! Worth the stop since they don’t export, and it was such a historically rich place!

This was a very nice tour through the rum distillery. The tour was free. They also got a bar and a restaurant. I ordered a Pina Colada which was delicious.

I'm gonna start off by saying I don't like Pina Colada's, but I love their's.
Spend some time here visiting the distillery (tour) history of the property and the bar. Have a drink indoors or outdoors . There is a small shop that serves food on the property. Didn’t eat there, but the food looked good.
Clean restrooms and an air-conditioned facility. Great place to swing by to take a break from all the walking!

Love visiting this place every year. Tour is free and they offer free taste of their in house Rum with Pina Colada. If you buy two or more, you get 10% discount. There is a place to eat and order more drinks while on site. You can take two bottles per adult in your checked bag.

Came here as a stop on a bus tour. There is a burger and taco shack out front, and there are public bathrooms. There are four flights of stairs to go up but there is a nice patio area with tables and chairs for anyone who doesn’t want to go inside.
