21 Best Things to Do in the Bahamas

"A small-batch rum distillery offering free tours of the 18th-century Buena Vista estate in downtown Nassau; the rum is named for an English "pious pirate" who refused to plunder on the Sabbath, and visitors can sample signature Bahamian cocktails while touring the historic property." - Skye Sherman Skye Sherman Skye Sherman is a travel writer based in West Palm Beach, Florida. A Feast by the Sea in the Bahamas - AFAR

"Housed in the historic Buena Vista Estate dating to 1789, this distillery preserves the Bahamas’ long rum-making tradition with interpretive tours and tastings that explain distillation and aging and allow guests to sample and enjoy cocktails made from the estate’s rum at a bar overlooking the harbor. The experience pairs local history and lore with hands-on tasting of the rum that has been central to Bahamian life and economy for centuries." - AFAR

The rum tasting place was a great experience and definitely worth a visit. The space is large and well designed, making it easy to spend a few hours exploring. They offer a guided tour that explains the entire process, from how the rum is made to the stories behind the artwork and displays throughout the facility, which makes the visit both educational and enjoyable. There is a café on site, along with a separate tasting café where you can enjoy rum samples, not just coffee. While there isn’t a full food menu at the tasting area, the nearby café offers pastries and light snacks. The location is also very convenient—it’s about a 20–30 minute walk from the cruise area, making it an easy and pleasant walk. Overall, it’s a fun and informative stop, especially if you’re curious about rum-making and want to experience something a little different.

Well worth the visit. Take the tour and give a tip! Good run too to taste. Well managed and preserved. Also snake and coffee. Ps most of the cruise liner passengers stay close to the Morar so a nice break from the crowed dockside !

Google
their aged rums are worthy of try. You can easily spend 30-60 min at this distillery to have a tour, taste, and walk around.

It's a beautiful building, outside and inside. Many people come for tour, drink, and food. We couldn't get any bottle as we need to check-in, it doesn't count as duty-free. Free to walk in checking stuffs out, only pay if you want other experience.

The John Watling's Distillery is a beautiful, historic property that’s now home to a rum distillery, coffeehouse, and small eatery for visitors. Stopped here as part of a van tour and unfortunately, the “tour” was short and rushed, with a guide who seemed disinterested (hence losing a star). Still, the colonial-era setting is lovely, and Bond fans will enjoy knowing Casino Royale filmed several key scenes here. Ends at the gift shop, of course. Recommended for a stop for rum, some island history, or 007 fans.

Complimentary tour only takes 7- 10 minutes. The Piña colada was so refreshing. They offer food but our group stopped briefly for the distillery.

Google
Wonderful stop on our Bahame day tour. The tour was brief, but informative. The distillery was nice, but the piña colada was exceptional! We went back for seconds, lol

Nice small distillery. Went for the store but got a sample of pina colada to try at the entrance. Ended with a bottle of rhum, still need to try it! And we got a small reduction for buying 2 bottles.
